First i start with a clean slate...

Then a base

A small sketch for the guidelines

Then you make the outline

Start the colors on the other layer

Merge both layers or just turn the "eye" on

Add darker Colors around desired shadows

Add the final shadow..

Add your glow or surrounding Character color

Add your extras as desired..

Add Background and signature..
