I let another tear fall on the white hospital sheet as I look at the body Infront of me. The bodies chest rises and falls slowly, the monitor beeping. I silently break down again and hold their hand.

"I know your there..." I whisper quietly between my sobs. "I just want you to know...."

I sniffle loudly as I grip the hand tighter.

"I miss you..."

"I need you here..."

" Wings?" I look up to see a tall woman looking at me. I sniffle and bow my head, rubbing my thumb on the persons palm. "Wings, sweetheart, its time to go..."

"G-give me a second..." I sniffle again before looking at the person. "Please..."

"I'll give you ten more..." the woman walks out and I immediately break down. My tears feel like acid on my cheek as many fall down.

I began to grow tired, but I still stand next to the bed and hold the hand tightly, not wanting to go.

Yesterday they were fine

Yesterday they were smiling

Today they had cancer

And it stung in my heart.

We were friends

Buddies

Pals

Almost siblings.

Then they fell to the ground not breathing..

Yesterday we were just hanging out..

Today I was here crying for my best friend.

My eyes widen as the person groans and shyly opens there eyes. I smile widly and want to hug them, but I remember I cant. The person looks at me and smiles.

"H-hey jackass..."

My tears flow harder. "S-s-sup idiot..."

"Why are y-you crying?.." I laugh shyly and smile.

"Cause idiot for you..."

Their eyes widen and they close them for a moment. "Why does life s-suck?.."

"W-what?.."
"I may be gone tomorrow, today, maybe in two minutes..."
"D-don't say that!"

The person looks at me and sighs. "Pr-promise me you wont l-let go?.."

I smile..

"I promise.."

And I never did.

They came home
Safe
And sound
Only with a wheel chair and medication
But safe

And that moment when I hugged them and I couldn't stop crying

I knew I had found peace

And I knew they had a little longer before they were laying on clouds...

"I missed the sun..."
"Yea..."
"How are you holding up?"
"Good.. better even I survived.."
"I know... im proud of you"
"Eww dont get all mushy with me!"
"Ha! Too bad!"
"I hate you!"
"Wow but I love you!"
