FIANNA O'HAODHA HAD FIRE IN HER VEINS. It burned inside her soul, with brilliantly blazing tendrils of flame that enveloped her very bones. With a quick tongue and an even quicker temper, the girl was a well-known figure around the Little Palace, barracks and hideaway of Ravka's elite - the Second Army. As a child, born in the Wandering Isles, her gift had made her an outcast. A witch. A monster.

It was only when she came to the country of Ravka that she realised there were others like her. Others who could manipulate the elements around them as easily as breathing.

There was a name for their kind - Grisha.
