Part 15:
"Khushi..." he said in low voice waiting for her to answer the call. His heart is pacing up in a rapid speed. He couldn't understand why it's happening with him. After three or four rings he felt irritated and frustrated
'Why isn't she answering my phone damn it?' he thought.
After six or seven rings of first call he heard her voice
"ARANV JIIIII..." he kept the phone away from his ear smiling little.
He heard her calling him continuously
"Arnav Ji... Are you there? Arnav Ji... why aren't you talking? Arnav Ji... Are you fine? Arnav Ji? What the hell... why isn't he talking? Arnav Ji... Please say something... Arnav Ji..." sensing her verge of crying state, he immediately answered
"Khushi... Shh... Shh... I'm fine, okay? Don't cry. Khushi I'm fine. Khushi stop"
"If you are fine then why didn't you talk?" she asked sobbing little
"IF you give me chance to talk, then I will, right?" he tried to lighten the situation.
"Haahh...? Fine... leave it... first tell me how you are? Did you take your food and medicine? Wait a minute... you called me? That means... Oh my God... Arnav Ji... Oh my God... you read the letter and... and... you got your vision back? Oh my... thank you god... thank you so much..."
Smiling to her happiness he said "Yeah Khushi... I got my vision. But something is wrong"
"Why? What happened Arnav Ji?"
"I am feeling something weird with my vision Khushi"
After few seconds of silence, she said "I'm coming there. Then we can discuss about this problem. But till that time, close your eyes and don't strain them much. Please... I will be there in 20 minutes"
"Okay..." with that he ended the call. He looked at the room with thudding heart. While looking at Khushi's room he again remembered her words about not able to buy iPod, her doing two jobs and about allowing him to go with Aman for his better treatment. He looked at the room once again. Suddenly he remembered his baby brother's words
"Don't trust poor people Bhai... particularly girls. They will never ever be good. They will do everything for their own happiness. They will never ever think about us" Arnav still remember that worst day of his life. The day, he saw his baby brother's death. The day, his world had come crashing down. He closed his eyes, letting those memories come in front of his eyes.
-------------
When he is in a meeting, he received a call from unknown number. He asked his PA Aman to attend the call. But when he saw tensed Aman, he knew there was something wrong. He excused himself from others and went outside cabin and took his mobile and talked with the person other side
"ASR here"
"Hello Mr. Raizada. Can you come to our hospital now? Your brother wants to talk with you. He needed you here"
"What the hell? He is not in country. Who the hell you are talking about?" barked Arnav
"Sorry to say, your brother – Akash Singh Raizada, he committed suicide. He has only few hours. He is asking for you" the phone fell from Arnav's hands before he notice he is driving his car towards the hospital. He reached hospital in record time and went to his baby brother
"Bhai..."
"Bacha..." he ran to him and hugged him tightly. He couldn't see his brother with all the tubes attached to his body
"I'm fine Bhai..."
"No... you are not... I can see that. What's wrong? Why did you take this step? Didn't you think about me? Didn't you think you should talk with me? But why did you take this step?" tears rolling his eyes
"Bhai please... I know I did wrong, but not now. I did wrong when I loved her. I didn't even listen to your words about her character. But I loved her Bhai... when she reciprocated my feelings I felt I won this world. But all the love she showed it's an act Bhai. She wants you... she planned to use me to get close to you. She wants our property"
"No Akash... don't think like that"
"I heard her Bhai. She said all these things to her crime partner when she wasn't expecting me. When I confronted her, she agreed everything. I couldn't take this easily. I felt ashamed for trusting her over you. I felt I don't deserve your... and I know when I can't punish her then I don't have any right to live as your brother. This is the solution for this and I know I'm right"
"No... no... Akash don't do this to me. Please... don't leave me Akash. Please..." Arnav Singh Raizada begged for the first time. Suddenly Akash started breathing hardly. Arnav ran to doctors and they checked him and turned to Arnav to say that he is in his last stage.
"Bhai... I'm sorry Bhai... for letting you in this situation but Bhai remember... Don't trust poor people Bhai... particularly girls; they will never ever be good. They will do everything for their own happiness. They will never ever think about us. They only give pain to our heart. Don't trust poor..." that is the last thing his baby brother said to Arnav. He looked at him with disbelief. He couldn't believe that his baby brother left him.
"Akash...?" he whispered touching his face
"Akash...?" he called him while holding his hand
"Akash..." he begged him to open his eyes
"Akash..." he ordered him to respond
But nothing happened. He lost his brother that day, because of one mere poor girl. That is the day he started hating poor people. His brother's last words had a great impact on his mind. His brother is six years younger than him. Arnav is 23 when Akash died at the age of 17. That day he decided to see to that girl's end which he did. That is the day he went hard for poor people. He never trusted anyone till now.
-------------------
Arnav came out from his thoughts with some sounds outside. His mind is restless, but the memories of his brother are not the reason for his restlessness. The thought that Khushi might be a poor girl is eating his mind. He couldn't believe that if Khushi is poor girl then how can she be so selfless? He really wanted Khushi to be a rich girl. He wanted to console his heart saying that 'Khushi might have a fight with her parents and staying in this room. As she is alone, she took a small house. She is not poor, otherwise how can she be a good hearted?' But nothing helped him and his heart. His restlessness is becoming higher.
He couldn't understand what to do and what to think and whom to trust. First time, he thought he might be wrong about poor people. He remember his Di's words, who equally affected by their brother's death. "Don't do this Chote... every poor is not bad like her. There are good people too. Don't bring everyone in same shade. You will regret it" He closed his fists tight to control his inner turmoil. But it didn't help him. He felt his restlessness is growing second by second. His heart is beating in a speed of rocket. He thought his heart will stop in few seconds. He wished and hoped for Khushi to be not a poor girl 'I hope she is not a poor girl. No... she can't be. If she is not a rich girl, then it's ok. But she shouldn't be a poor girl. NO... NO... please... don't let Khushi be a poor girl' he thought.
Suddenly, he felt his heart is becoming calm and heard her voice
"Arnav Ji..."
He felt like he is home. He noticed his heart and mind at peace. He slowly turned to see her. His heart skipped a beat seeing a beautiful girl like angel standing before him. He saw her eyes full of tears, but he can see the happiness in them. He lost in her face. She is looking like an angel. He saw her fair colour, her hair, her slim figure, her big expressive eyes and her beautiful smile.
He never ever expected Khushi will turn to be a beautiful girl. He looked at her head to toe. He noticed her face fell immediately and she moved uncomfortably. He looked at her attire which is not so costly one. He gulped hardly looking at her. He doesn't know what to do. He looked around him to see the room. Once again he looked at Khushi, who is looking at the floor. He wants to see her eyes. Somewhat he felt her eyes will give answers to his questions.
"Khushi...?" he called her in a low voice
He can see the tears rolling down on her cheeks, but still she didn't look at him. He doesn't know why she is crying now and not meeting his eyes. He wanted to shout at her. But he can see the pain she is going through.
After waiting for some time he heard her asking
"How is your vision Arnav Ji? Are you able to see comfortably?"
Her words surprised him once again. 'How can she ask about his vision when something is bothering her?' he thought
"I can't see everything Khushi... I can see only things the exact point where my eyes going. Around that point everything is blur. If I see your face, I can't see the surroundings. I can see only your face. I don't know why this is happening" he said about his vision, but his thoughts are around Khushi. He is looking at her face.
She slowly came to him and asked him to sit on the bed. After he sat there, she bent little towards his face and asked him "May I?"
He nodded his head allowing her to check. He can feel her touch. It's not the same when he was not able to see. He can feel the difference. He looked at her eyes, which are completely filled with pain.
After some time checking with his eyes, she looked at the ground at said "Generally it happens when the person got hit on or operated his head. It will get well soon. No need to worry. Your eyes are perfectly fine. It's just that the nerves are weak. Don't worry you will get completely well soon" She never looked at his eyes
Unable to control his irritation and tension he said in little high voice with frustration "Why aren't you looking at me?"
"Nothing is like that..."
"Khushi..."
"..."
"Khushi...?"
"Because I know, after seeing directly into your eyes I can't say lies to you. And at the same time, I don't want you to know the truth about my status which surely will irritate you. But I think getting your vision back and seeing my room and my... my attire, you came to know about my status. Yes, I'm poor, a poor orphan girl. Before you say anything let me tell you one thing. Arnav Ji... I may be poor by financial status, but not poor by heart. I know good and bad. I never ever can use you for MY happiness. I never ever will force you for MY happiness. I never will force you to stay here as I know you love your family and hate poor people. I never wanted you to be with me. I just did what I did in these days only for my satisfaction that – I am worthy to help you. I'm useful to you. I'm a considerable person because I helped YOU. That is the only reason I helped you, nothing else. You are free to go from here. And I promise I will never cross your way in my life without your permission. So please don't think much about me and my status which make you tired" she said and ran into washroom crying bitterly leaving a confused Arnav. He couldn't understand what to feel and how to react.
...to be continued
