It was early evening, Payal was sitting with her parents and sister in the hall of their house. Khushi was munching on her all-time-favorite Jalebis.

"This is the second bowl in the last two hours. Are you planning on filling your stomach with Jalebis today?" Payal asked snatching the bowl of jalebis from her sister

"As if you're planning something special for me." Khushi narrowed her eyes at her sister.

Payal had a hard time trying to contain her smile.

"Aj phir se Arnav ne kucch kia?(Did Arnav do something again?)" Payal asked 

"It's not always his just fault, you know." Khushi said flatly.

Payal bit her lip.

"Are we getting protective?" She asked smirking.

Khushi shook her head, and went towards her room.

Payal turned to her parents with a mischievous smile.

"Stop troubling her." Shashi said.

Payal pouted. "I bet Arnav has already spoiled the surprise." 

"Excuse Me?" Arnav entered the hall and bent to take Shashi and Garima's blessings before turning to Payal with a frown.

"I haven't spoiled anything." Arnav said matter of factly.

Payal looked at him surprised, "Why is she not mad at you then?" 

"Because unlike some of us here, I do have a brain and it works." Arnav teased.

Payal glared at him. "You told her why you might not be able to wish her on her birthday?"

Arnav smiled sweetly at her. "I'll go check on her. She must be getting ready by now. Akash is waiting outside. You and others leave. I'll come with Khushi."  

Payal nodded and hurried out of the room.

"Khush.. we're getting late. Arjun will kill us if we don't show up at his engagement on time." Arnav screamed walking into Khushi's room.

"You look beautiful Khushi." Arnav whispered in her ear, escorting her towards the garden area of their friends' farmhouse. 

"Thank you." Khushi replied disinterestedly.

Arnav bit back a chuckle on seeing a brooding Khushi. 

"Where are Arjun and Kanika?" Khushi asked impatiently.

"Patience kiddo." Arnav kissed her nose.

"Walk straight, or I'll smack you hard." Khushi threatened.

Arnav held her hands up in a surrendering position and walked ahead holding her by her waist. 

They reached the garden. It was decorated with fairy lights. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCESS was written in bold letters.

"SURPRISE!!" The whole gang exclaimed in unison.

"Happy Birthday Khushi" The whole group, including Payal, Akash [Payal's fiance] NK, Lavanya, Arjun and Kanika pulled Khushi in a bear hug.

"You're going to choke her" Arnav remarked playfully.

"Shut-up." Payal slapped his arm playfully.

Arnav smirked.

"Did you like the surprise?" NK asked 

Khushi nodded like a child.

Everyone smiled. "Come on. Let's get the party started."

"You were troubling me the whole day." Khushi pouted, eyeing her sister sternly.

Payal grinned. "It was so much fun watching you roam around the house like a grumpy kitten." She flicked her nose.

"Stop troubling my kiddo." Arnav pulled Khushi into his arms. 

Payal shook her head at the open display of affection from ArShi's side.

"Can't you control yourself while in public?" Payal asked 

Arnav shrugged. "Please concentrate on your own fiance and leave us alone." Arnav said 

Khushi blushed.

Arnav smiled, "Do you like the party?"

Khushi nodded, "Thank you." 

"The party isn't over Khush."

Khushi was sitting with her friends, talking nineteen to the dozen when the music playing in the background stopped abruptly.

Everyone looked in the direction of the direction of the music system, only to see Arnav standing in the middle of the stage with a microphone in his hand.

"I'm not really good at all this stuff, but you've made me do many things that I wont do if not for you." Arnav looked straight at Khushi with a soft, affectionate smile on his face.

The whole gang looked at him surprised.

Arnav started to sing the song, his chocolate brown eyes shining in mirth. Khushi stood stupefied, as if she were glued to her spot.

Each syllable of the song reflected the amount of love that he had for his lady. Arnav sang on with a charming smile on his face.

Arnav ended the song, and looked hopefully at Khushi. 

"I hope I didn't ruin it completely." Arnav ran his fingers through his hair, smiling boyishly.

Khushi ran up to him and hugged him tightly. Arnav wrapped his arms around her waist steadying her.

"Love you." Khushi sobbed.

Arnav kissed her hair. "Shh.. Birthday girls don't cry." He said rubbing her back.

After a few minutes, Khushi pulled away from the hug. "This is the best day of my life." 

"What if I tell you, It's about to get a lot better." Payal teased.

Khushi frowned. Payal gestured towards Arnav, who was now sitting on his knee.

"We met two years ago, in the most unexpected way possible. We were poles apart, I was the silent guy, minding my own business, alone and believe it or not content too. You were the definition of life, of light. You are my sunshine. You showed me what it is like to love to live and to be happy. You made me laugh, you made me smile. You made me realize that.. life can be a lot more beautiful if it's with a bunch of good for nothing best friends." Arnav chuckled.

Khushi laughed as well while the rest of the gang gave him a pointed look.

"I don't know what life would have been like if I hadn't met you. I don't want to know either. I want to spend my whole life with you Khushi. I want to spend every living moment of my life loving you and pampering you, fighting with you, fighting for you. I want a whole lifetime of bliss and I can imagine that only with you. Will you, Khushi Gupta give me the pleasure of being called your husband? Will you let me love you till the end of time, Will you give me the chance to make your every dream come true? Will you marry me Khushi?" Arnav asked taking her hand in his own.

Khushi nodded vigorously, tears of happiness streaming down her cheeks. Arnav slipped a beautiful diamond solitaire into her finger.

"Happy Birthday Love." Arnav smiled heartily.

"Thank you so much." Khushi attacked his lips for a passionate kiss amid the loud cheers and hoots from their friends.
