At first Kendra wasn't sure what to make of Carter Hall. She knew she probably loved him, considering her heart beat faster and faster every time she saw him. And she knew she had probably loved him for a long time, even though they had only just met in this life. She remembered, one memory at a time, all the promises they'd made each other over the years.

First and foremost being: I will find my way back to you.

All her life, it seemed, Kendra had to be strong. She had to be brave, because she and her soul mate were being hunted like animals. In every lifetime Vandal Savage would track them down, killing them, sending them into their next life, making them lose each other over and over again.

Maybe it wasn't Carter. Maybe it was her. Kendra was afraid to fall in love with him this time. She was afraid to lose him once again.

But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow

Kendra's gaze landed on Carter. He was standing alone in the Waverider's bridge.  She smiled at him lightly, all of her doubt disappearing for a moment. Somehow, he had that effect on her. Somehow just looking at him made her believe that the Legends could help them. They'd finally stop Savage, for good this time.

One step closer

She took a step closer to him. He took a step closer to her.

They'd died over three hundred times, but that wasn't even the worst part. The worst part, at least in Carter's opinion, was losing his memories for awhile. And Kendra losing hers. Every day she didn't remember, he felt as though he were dying all over again, just dying and waiting for her.
But in that moment neither of them were afraid. They'd been together for years, through thick and thin. And they'd be together for several years more. No matter how many times Savage tried to keep them apart, they'd always find each other.

Time stands still

Every breath, every hour has come to this

Whenever he looked at Kendra, Carter always felt like time was standing still, but on the Waverider, soaring through the temporal zone, it pretty much did. Everything she did, everything she was, was beautiful. He'd made a promise to himself a long time ago. He'd always be brave for her. One of these, someday soon, they'd stop Savage, and then no one would be able to take her away again. Slowly, everything was leading up to that one moment.

Nothing could keep the two apart, especially after the Legends helped them get rid of Savage. They were sure of that.

They'd be together forever. Every day they'd died again and again, just waiting to find their way back to each other. But they weren't afraid. They'd loved each other for more than a thousand years. They could make it through a thousand more.

Carter remembered searching endlessly, just trying to find her. Day in and day out. He never once stopped to consider she wouldn't come back to him. They always found each other! Over the course of four thousand years, his heart had found his way to her. It didn't matter how many times Savage tried to tear them apart, he would always find her!

One step closer

The two took two steps closer to each other. They embraced.

The embrace lasted several minutes. It had been such a long time, since they had been able to just hold each other. And while Kendra had spent most of her time trying to deny her fate, she couldn't resist the pull of her heart, drawing her closer to him with every passing second. And it was times like these, when she'd remember she shouldn't be afraid. They were soul mates. They'd love each other for more than a few decades, and they would continue to do so, weather Savage was brought down or not.

Kendra remembered most of her lives now. She remembered all the times she spent, waiting for Carter to find her, all the times she had tracked him down. She remembered every time Savage stole him away. She remembered doubting they'd ever be truly happy together, but she always knew they'd find each other. No matter what lifetime it was.
