First Task Together

Oliver and I walk over to Diggle in Verdant, drunk young adults surrounding us, dancing like crazy.

"We're gonna need more sparring dummies." I say loudly to Diggle over the club music.

Me and Oliver kinda destroyed all the dummies we have. Hey, not in that kind of way! We were working on our team work and it's been a week since the Hoods.

Danny's downstairs trying to train. I'm training him. I told him everything and... he took it surprisingly well, even the part about Ras Al Ghul being our father. Now, he wants to join Team Arrow.

That's the name I call us, but Ollie doesn't like it. Oh well.

"I'll start ordering them in bulk." Diggle says back. "Does this mean that you guys are ready to launch Crusade 2.0?"

"We're ready, we just don't know where to start." Oliver says. "Last year, I had the list. Getting justice was as easy as crossing names out of a book."

"This is Starling City. You never have to look far to find someone engaged in illegal activity." Diggle says. "Yesterday, Big Belly Burger got robbed."

"Was Carly there? Is she okay?" Oliver asks.

Diggle looks at me in discomfort before answering. "Yeah, um, she was..." John stammers. "It was her day off."

"Good. Then, the four of us should get dinner," says Oliver. "I haven't seen her since I got back."

"Why the sudden interest in my love life?" John asks.

"If it's important to you, it's important to me."

"Hey!" Thea says coming toward us. "I didn't see you guys come in."

"I had a secret entrance installed when I ran the club." Oliver says, causing Thea to raise her eyebrows and look at us, shocked. "Kidding."

Just then, Thea's phone rings. She answers it and puts it to her ear.

"Hello?... Yes, yeah, this is Thea Queen." her faces suddenly has a look of disbelief and she shakes her head. "Of course that's where he is... Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can. Bye."

And with that, she hangs up the phone. "What's up?" I ask her.

"I just got a call from the police station saying that they have my boyfriend in custody."

"We'll go with you." I say, making Oliver look at me.

Thea smiles and thanks me and then we all walk to our cars. "Why are we going with her?" Oliver asks.

"Because of Roy." I say.

"Her boyfriend?"

"Yup."

"Why?"

"Because, Ollie, people don't get arrested for no reason. Especially if it's Roy Harper."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We get to the police station and walk up to the room where some of the cops told us to go.
Laurel's here. I saw her car. Oliver told me that she's hunting the Arrow with her boss, the District Attorney. Which complicates this just a little bit.
Anyway, Oliver and I sit down while Thea paces back and forth. And finally, the door opens and Roy steps out.
"Are you okay?" Thea asks him, frantically. "What happened?"
"Fender bender." Roy says, looking as if he's trying to keep calm and not explode with anger.
"He totaled his car, playing Hood Junior." Laurel says.
"At least it wasn't my car." Roy snaps, causing me to smile, just a little before I make it disappear.
"Don't say anything!" Thea tells him. "I already called you an attorney."
"That won't be necessary. We're not pressing any charges." Laurel says, calmly. "As long as he gives up getting into trouble."
Thea scoffs, softly. "Might as well tell him to stop breathing."
Uh oh. Good luck, Roy. Speedy looks pissed.
"We'll talk to him." I tell Laurel, smiling slightly, but something bugs that says Laurel isn't okay, other than the fact that she's hunting my boyfriend.
"Ask him if he knows anything about the vigilante." Laurel tells me. "Roy has obviously forged some sort of connection with him. Maybe it goes both ways."
Oliver glances at me for a second before responding. "Doesn't sound like the vigilante to have a groupie." he says, trying to hide his discomfort.
"That's just it." Laurel looks at Oliver. "We don't know anything about the vigilante. Only that every time he shows up, all hell breaks loose. It has to stop, Ollie. HE has to be stopped."
After she says this, she gives me a hug and then leaves. Oliver and I look at each other.
"This is going to be difficult." Oliver says.
"She'll come to." I say. "She always does. It just takes a while."
"I hope your right."
"Well, I usually am, aren't I?"
That puts a smile on his face. And that makes me smile. We've been really good so far. Sometimes, I go to his place, sometimes he comes to the Manson. Seems like we can't sleep without being by each other anymore.
Anyway, we walk to Roy and Thea. "Thea." Oliver calls to his little sister. "Can you ask Mr. Diggle to bring the car around, please?"
Thea sighs and smiles slightly at Roy as she puts her hand on his shoulder. "I'll always think of you fondly." she says, a hint of anger in her voice.
Oh dang. She's mad.
And with that, Thea leaves us. We turn to Roy, who really looks like crap. Probably bruised some of his ribs. But other than that, no huge injuries, lucky for him.
"Save the speeches." Roy tells us before we say anything. "Your best friend and your ex-girlfriend already laid one on me. Still, no effect."
Oliver smiles just a little. "I used to be a lot like you, Roy." he says.
Roy scoffs. "I doubt that. I spend more time in the back of cop cars than limos, so..."
He tries to leave, but I grab his arm. He tries to break my grip, but fails. Hey, I'm stronger than I look.
"The world doesn't work anymore." Oliver says. "It broke a long time ago, but it was like you were the only one who noticed. And that makes you angry."
I let go of Roy's arm before I say. "And you're afraid that that anger is gonna burn you up inside if you live in the world one second longer, knowing that you could do something to fix it."
Roy looks at both of us in shock, because that's exactly how he feels. We know a thing or two.
"That anger's gonna put you in a hospital, kid." says Oliver. "Or worse."
Roy scoffs. "Well, I'll take worse. It's better to be dead than in a hospital these days, you know?"
"What do you mean?" Oliver asks him, bewildered.
What's going on in the hospitals?
"Been down to the Glades Memorial lately?" Roy asks him.
"No, but I didn't read that it was damaged by the Quake." Oliver says.
"It wasn't." Roy says. "The medicine that FEMA's been sending to the hospitals has been hijacked. So, if they don't resupply, they're gonna be forced to close."
"By who?" I ask.
"I don't know!" Roy tells me. "The doctors and nurses are already bailing on the place. And the cops? The cops rarely venture into that deep of the Glades, so I guess that leaves only me!"
Oliver and I glance at each other before we look back at Roy.
Guess what our new task is?
"What does it take to make you two angry?" Roy asks us.
As he walks away, Oliver and I loosen our clenched fists.
Would you say we're angry?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oliver and Diggle go to the hospital in the Glades that Roy talked about.

I watch the computer as some reporters film Sebastian Blood, an Alderman from the Glades talking about the people of the Glades and their suffering as he stands outside of the hospital.

I've donated large amounts of money to him to help the Glades, and he's bent that so much that now, almost every person in the Glades worships me as a goddess. I just wanted to help. I didn't want anymore attention, still don't.

While I watch the screen, Danny pokes me with the stick I gave him for training. We're practicing to fight with a sword. I'm trying to see what he's skilled in.

But, he's starting to annoy me with his poking.

"Lena? Elena? Lala? Oy, Lena!" he repeats as he keeps on poking me in different places.

On the third time he says 'Oy, Lena!' I grab his wrist, trip his unbalanced stance, and flip him to lay on his chest, hand twisted behind his back!

Hey, he was annoying me!

"Okay, okay, okay. I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he stammers in pain.

I roll my eyes. And I let him go. "You're still a big baby." I say.

He sits up, rubbing his shoulder. "But, I'm YOUR big baby brother." he pouts.

His pouty face consists of his big brown eyes made to go all big and his bottom lip sticking out. He used to do this when we were kids.

And I smile as I kiss the top of his head. I run my fingers through his hair, which is getting longer. A lot of people used to think that he was the older one of us while we were kids.

It's just because I'm short, isn't it? I have thing to say to that: Tiny, but MIGHTY!

Yep, I just did that. I'm the eldest daughter of Ras Al Ghul, the CEO of Swan Industries, and the girlfriend of the Arrow, so in short. I can beat you up. Maybe even worse.

"Yeah, you are." I say to Danny's comment. "And that's never gonna change."

Right before we start training again, I hear Sebastian Blood say very clearly:

"Oliver Queen, isn't it?"

Both Danny and I turn to the computer screen, and walk up to it to watch.

Oliver, dressed in a suit, immediately looks uncomfortable in the spotlight. "Alderman." he says, politely.

"What brings you to Glades Memorial, Mr. Queen?" Blood asks as he crosses his arms. "I assume someone of your means can get the best medical care that money can buy. And I can assure you that you're not going to find that here."

"You're wrong, sir." Oliver says. "The people of the Glades have suffered too much not to have access to basic medical services."

"Well, that's very compassionate. Although, I wonder where your family's compassion for its fellow citizens was when they ordered the construction of the Earthquake machine that killed 503 people."

Around them, the crowd yells in agreement. Oliver walks up to Blood.

"I'm willing to do everything in my power to atone for my family's culpability in this tragedy." he says simply before starting to walk away.

But, Blood wasn't finished yet. "Well, I'm sure the people of the Glades, that I represent will sleep better knowing that- if they still had a place to sleep. If their homes didn't crumple around them. If their stores and businesses hadn't been condemned."

Right after he says that, the crowd goes from quiet shouts to angry yells as Oliver gets back into his limo, and someone even breaks the window that Oliver sat by with his sign!

Why would Sebastian do that? Oliver could have been hurt! Then, I would be really angrier than I already am, if that's even possible at the moment.

"Danny, I gotta go to-"

"See Oliver." Danny  interrupts me.

I nod slowly. And... he smiles. "Alright, I'll just stay here and practice." he says to me, sweetly.

I smile at my brother and hug him, briefly. "You're the best, Danny." I say.

"I know I am." he says as he hugs me back.

Then, we pull apart and I run to go to see my boyfriend.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We meet outside Queen Consolidated and take the elevator upstairs. When we get there, the first person we see is an angry Felicity.
"I quit." she tells Oliver.
"No, you don't." I say to her as we walk to Oliver's office.
"Yes, I do." Felicity argues, then looks at Oliver. "Not my old job in the I.T. Department, but my new job as your Executive Assistant, which you think I'm going to accept. Your thinking could not be more wrong in this matter."
"I need a girl Wednesday." Oliver says.
"It's Friday! And the answer is NO!"
Oliver looks at me for an idea to convince her. So, I glance at the computers, hoping he got the hint. He walks over to the desk, pointing at the computers.
"These computers have been upgraded. Far more processing power than your typical secretary." he says as he walks into his office.
Felicity walks in right after him, and I follow her, John stays right next to the door. Yeah, Oliver got the hint. I had those computers upgraded just for her.
"Did you know that I went to M.I.T.?"Felicity asks him, angrily. "Guess what I majored in. Hint- NOT THE SECRETARIAL ARTS!"
"Felicity!" Oliver snaps angrily, then calms down. "We all need to have secret identities now. Elena is the CEO of Swan Industries. And if I'm going to be Oliver Queen, CEO of Queen Consolidated, I can't very well travel down 18 floors every time you and I need to discuss how we spend our nights!"
"And I LOVE spending the night with you!" Felicity says, then looks away from Oliver, eyes closed shut. "3, 2, 1."
While she counts, Oliver looks at me, I smile and bite my bottom lip to stop myself from laughing. I'm sorry, but that's funny. Oliver turns and walks to his desk and sits in the chair.
Felicity goes on. "I've worked very hard to get where I am, and it wasn't so I could fetch you coffee!"
"Well, it could be worse." John says as he start to put an Icebreaker in his mouth. "My secret identity is his black driver."
I look back at Oliver. "He's got a point, you know."
He gives me a 'Not helping' look. I raise my hands to say 'Just saying'.
"Right now," Oliver says to get us back on point as he looks at Felicity. "I need you to find out how the hijackers are getting a line on the goods earmarked for Glades Memorial. If we know how they're picking their targets..."
"We'll know how and where to stop them." I finish.
"Fine." Felicity says as she walks away, then turns around. "Oh! May I get you a cup of coffee?"
Oliver gives a big exhale. "You're not actually offering to get me a cup of coffee, are you?"
"Yeah, no." Felicity says as she turns again and walks out of the office. "That's not happening. EVER!"
"Well, if you can bring yourself to do it, can you please make reservations for Diggle, Carly, Elena, and I for Saturday at Table Salt?" Oliver asks, nicely.
I look at John and Felicity. John gives us both nods.
"Sure!" Felicity says, grabbing a tablet. "I'll get right on that, using the Internet! Which you also HAPPEN to have access to."
I walk over to Ollie and lay my arm across his shoulders. He looks at me before typing in some codes into his computers.
And a second later, we see a reporter speaking outside of the Glades Memorial.
"Last year when Oliver Queen returned to Starling City, he was met with flowers and well-wishes. However, today at Glades Memorial hospital, he was met with a less cordial homecoming. The question isn't, 'Where have you been, Oliver Queen?' Now it's 'But, what have you done for me lately?' Mr. Queen wasn't available for questioning-"
I press some codes and shut down the news reporter and his words. Oliver looks at me.
"If only they knew what you've done for them." I say to him. "Don't listen to any of their crap. They don't know what you've been through or who you really are. So, don't let them affect you."
Oliver smiles at me. "Thanks, Lena." he says, his voice full of gratitude.
"Anytime. That's what I do."
Oliver tips his head up and pecks my lips before resting his head on the crook of my neck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We go to the Cave. Danny's still here, but he's all cleaned up.

"Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually getting more work done in the basement of an abandoned steel factory than in the corner office of a high rise." Felicity says walking to her computers.

"What do you have, Felicity?" I ask, following her, Oliver's hand in mine.

"FEMA is shipping 1,000 units of medical graded opiates to Glades Memorial." Felicity answers.

"When?" I demand.

"The truck is scheduled to leave FEMA depot in twenty minutes." Felicity says.

"Not if this motorcycle gang has anything to say about it." Diggle says.

"Well, bad luck for them." I say, turning to my glass case that holds my outfit. "WE have something to say about it."

I dress in black leather tights, tight black heeled boots that go to my knees, a black leather sleeveless corset top, a skintight white leather jacket that's cropped on the bottom of the jacket so it touches the bottom of my shoulder blades and the sleeves go to my wrists, black skintight gloves, and a black mask.

My black hair hangs down my back. And my bow and arrows right underneath. My quiver has different varieties of arrow heads and my bow has the setter on the handle. If I need a grappling hook arrow, I press a button on the handle and when I pull the arrow out, I got a grappling hook.

Every person I've ever faced has seen my arrows. Which are all black except for the the white swan drawing that's stretched on the length of the arrow. So, they knew what to call me.

The Swan is back. And dang, did I miss it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We make it just in time. Two motorcyclists start shooting at the FEMA employees.
"Please. Please don't." stammers a frightened man, backing up in the space between the two trucks. "Don't shoot! Please!"
"DOWN!" I shout, my voice distorted so it's both lower and higher than it usually is.
When he ducks, Oliver and I shoot the motorcyclists. Then they both go down. And may I just say, that together, Oliver and I or The Arrow and The Swan, we look pretty awesome.
"Make your delivery." I tell the man.
He gets up, goes to one of the trucks, and starts to get in. But, before he can we hear a Swish! and see the man crumble down, a knife in his throat.
"The emerald archer and the Swan." says a familiar Asian/Drug cartel woman, China White. "I feared you had perished in the Earthquake, Archer, denying me the opportunity to pay you back in full for your past interferences in my business."
She shows herself and she looks the same since we last saw her. But, probably even more pissed off than last time.
"Your business is going down- PERMANENTLY!" Oliver says as we both notch an arrow on our bows.
Then, we hear a loud growl and see another old enemy, Bronze Tiger. And he DEFINITELY looked pissed off.
Oliver lets loose his arrow and Tiger just swiped at it and cut it into three pieces!
"I don't think my friend agrees with you." China says, smugly. "Our new partnership was easily cemented. See, I was eager to see you dead and he was eager to kill you!"
Oliver shoots at him two more times. And Tiger does the same thing to them. Oliver hasn't done any kill shots.
"No kill shots?" Tiger jests as he notices this, China climbs into one of the trucks and starts to drive away. "They promised me a good fight. Hope you haven't lost your nerve."
"Find out." Oliver invites him.
Tiger instantly starts to attack us.  He swipes at me while swiping at Oliver. I kick him in the gut as he thrusts at my waist.
He pushes us onto the pipes. Well, he kicks me and steps on my throat to keep me there, while he tries to plunge his claws into Oliver.
Just then,...
"SCPD! Put your hands up!" yells a cop. "We've got you surrounded! Drop your weapons!"
I look out of the corner of my eye and see Laurel! I reach back at my quiver, grab a small knife that's concealed, and stab Tiger's thigh!
In pain, he lets go of me and I stand up to kick him in his gut! He doubles back in pain as he swipes at the pipes, making smoke spill out from it. Oliver and I run just as the cops open fire!
I hear a sickening Splat! and grunt of pain behind me... Oliver!
I turn as he slumps on me in pain. I look down and a bloody bullet hole in his calf! He's shot!
Quickly, I throw a smoke grenade on the floor and as the smoke rises, I get a grappling hook arrow and shoot it just above us to hide against the building.
The arrow goes into the wall, and the rope that's attached to the bow starts to pull me. I wrap my arm around Oliver's waist and pull him with me.
We lean against the wall as the cops look around for us. So does Laurel.
I look at Oliver, who is wincing in pain. We gotta get out of here and back to the Cave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We finally got back about half an hour and now, I'm just finishing sticking Oliver's wound. The bullet laying on the table.

"Does it hurt?" Felicity asks Oliver as I tie the knot.

"Not as much as some things." Oliver says. "Thank goodness Elena can stick better than I can."

I, however, am VERY pissed off. I stand up and slam the needle and everything onto the table.

"I LOVE how we live in a city where the police are more interested in catching YOU than the drug stealing mobsters." I say, sarcastically and stressing LOVE. "Our tax dollars at work..."

"The authorities have always gone after the vigilante." Danny says.

"This time was different." Oliver says.

"Why? Because it was Laurel leading the charge?" Diggle asks.

I clench up at Laurel's name at the moment. Does he still have feelings for her?

"Because they got in my way." Oliver says as he stands up and walks over to Dig. "I can't make things better as Oliver Queen, and now I can't make things better as the vigilante. So what if Laurel was in charge?!"

"Hey! Go easy on him!" Felicity snaps.

"Felicity, it's-"

"No, it's not!" Felicity interrupts John.

"He needs to know, John." I say. walking up to them.

"You do not get to jump down his throat just because you happen to be having a lousy week!" Felicity says to Oliver. "Okay, you're pissed because he invoked the Almighty Laurel. Well, you're not the only one whose love life is taking it on the chin."

"Felicity...." John starts until I give him a look that stops him.

"What are you talking about?" Oliver asks her.

"I'm talking about that you mention Carly then you're so involved with yourself that you don't even realize the look he gets when you do." Felicity answers.

Oliver looks at John, still confused. "WHAT is she talking about?" he asks him.

"Carly and I are pulling the pin." he says and Oliver finally figures it out. "It happened when you were gone. Truth is, it's been happening for a while now."

"Being the vigilante's wingman was a strain." I say, trying to be considerate for John, even though he gives me a look. "Hey, he needs to hear this."

John sighs and starts. "This wasn't just about what we were doing, Oliver. This isn't just about you, man. I couldn't separate what's going on with me and Carly and... What went on with my brother."

"Deadshot." Oliver says, figuring it all out.

"He's still out there. My brother's killer. Still breathing. And I guess I couldn't hate him and love her at the same time." John stands up and picks up his coat. "See? You are not the only one who's having trouble reconciling two sides of himself."

And with that, we all call it a night. Well, except for me and Oliver.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, me and Oliver go to Laurel in the District Attorney's office as the Arrow and the Swan. We shut off the lights and turn on our voice boxes.
"Hello, Laurel." Oliver says.
"Ms. Lance." I say.
"Seems like old times. Except, the Hood was riding solo and the Swan disappeared. Now, they're joined forces." Laurel says, her back turned to us.
"We figured that we should talk." I say.
At this, Laurel turns to finally face us. "Fine. Turn those things off, Swan takes off the mask, and you pull down your hood." she says to Oliver.
"We're not your enemies." Oliver says. "And I thought we understood each other."
"I understand that you're a criminal." Laurel says. "And that you think that the law doesn't apply to you- it does."
"But, you didn't always feel that way about him, Laurel." I say. "You used to think that he was helping the people of this city."
"And then, I saw him." she tells me.
"I don't understand." Oliver says.
That makes two of us.
"The night of the Earthquake." Laurel tells him, starting to explain. "I saw you at CNRI. My friend was inside the building. He went there to rescue me. And by the time I managed to climb inside, he was gone. But, I saw you. Running away into the night.
"You didn't save him. You were too busy fighting a worthless dual with Malcolm Merlyn. And when people, people you told me that you were going to protect, needed you... You weren't there."
And she's not yet done. "I don't think you wear that hood because you're a hero. I think it's to hide that you're a coward. And I promise both of you, I WILL see you both unmasked, prosecuted, and sent to prison. Don't ever speak to me again!"
She turns her back to us again and I grab Oliver's hand. "Let's go." I mouth.
We go and as we do, we flip the lights back on. It's like we were never there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next night, me, Diggle, and Oliver ride in the elevator upstairs. Oliver checks his watch. "We're late." he says.

He means for the benefit that he's supposed to host with Sebastian Blood.

We argued about this, then it just ended up in a very heated make out session. Hey, it's a heck of a lot better than fighting.

Anyway, Oliver and Diggle both wear suits as I wear an off shoulder sapphire blue dress that goes to my knees, my hair in a fancy bun with my bangs nicely lining the outside of my face, and black pumps.

"Good news is you get to have a dramatic entrance." I say, trying to brighten the mood.

"Oh, I'm just lucky Oliver Queen has a reputation for always being late." he says.

"You know," says John. "I've been meaning to tell you that it really weirds me out when you refer to yourself in third person like that."

I nod with Diggle. Sometimes it is a little weird, but it's still kinda cute.

We step out of the elevator as Oliver's phone vibrates, he checks it. "It's Felicity." he answers it. "Tell me."

I lean in real close to hear Felicity. "I've got good news and bad news. I've hacked into FEMA's server- yet another federal offense, thank you very much- and found out when the next shipment of Pharmaceuticals is." she says.

"When?" I say into the phone.

"That's the bad news. Five minutes ago." Felicity says. "I know this is the definition of sucky timing, but... which suit are you two planning on wearing tonight?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a couple of minutes, we're both dressed to kick the crap of a certain motorcycle gang.
We ride our own motorcycles to meet them. And then, we see that they already killed the employees and one of the cronies gets in the truck. I pull an arrow back and shoot it in the cab, making him fall out with an arrow in his chest.
Bronze Tiger and China White dodge our bikes and we hurry up and pull them over.
"Go!" China tells another man, who gets in the truck, then she turns to us. "I told you, on time to die."
"Wanna bet?" I challenge, my voice distorted.
And with that, the fighting starts! China charges at me, Tiger at Oliver.
China tries to cut me with a knife, but I block her hits with my bow. Her fighting style is sloppy, all over the place. Easy.
I dodge another attempt to cut me, punch her side, bring my knee to her stomach hard, then slap her with my bow, causing her to back up and crumble to the floor.
Then, we see Diggle drive the FEMA truck. "You're not the only one who's allowed to bring a friend!" Oliver says to Tiger, who holds him in an attempted headlock.
They both run in opposite ways of the truck. And China White runs and jumps on the truck! I run right behind them and hop on!
She manages to climb to the cab, but before she can pull Diggle out, I kick her in her side and get a better idea. I jump, grab her, and pull her to the ground with me!
"DIGGLE, GO!!!" I shout as we both fall.
I roll off the fall, stand up, and we're back to fighting. I dodge, kick, punch, and hit with my bow. Finally, I finally throw her off of me, grab an arrow, but then, I hear another Thwang! of a bowstring and see that Oliver shot a restraint kind of arrow at her hands.
Maaann! Party pooper much.
"You've changed." China White says to Oliver. "You would've killed me by now if you hadn't."
"The police will take the shipment the rest of the way." I tell Diggle as Oliver and I turn our backs on the woman tied to a telephone pole.
"They still won't see you two as anything more than the enemies." she says, causing us to turn around. "You'll never be anything but criminals to them. Which means that you two will never be heroes."
"As long as this city is safe, it doesn't matter." I say to her.
And it's the honest truth. We hear the sirens of police cars getting louder before we drive away on our motorcycles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We're in Oliver's office, dressed in casual clothes, watching a news report.

"After a prolonged pursuit, police have arrested Chien Na Wei, a high ranking member of the local Chinese Triad. Which was responsible for the recent hijackings of Pharmaceuticals bound for the Glades Memorial Hospital. Representatives praises the efforts of the SCPD in saving the hospital from shutting down. Though some sources say that the vigilantes may have been involved."

"You know," I say to Oliver, closing the news. "I was just about to make my move on her. I didn't need one of YOUR trick arrows getting in the way."

"Couldn't risk it." Oliver says, smiling. "Where would I be without my amazing girlfriend?"

I roll my eyes, but rest my arm across his shoulders anyway. I love this guy, have I mentioned that?

"Diggle!" Oliver calls to John, causing him to turn around. "I'm sorry about you and Carly."

"Yeah, well, couples break up." Digg says. "Not everything that happens in Starling City is your responsibility."

"I'm learning that. What I meant was- I'm sorry I wasn't there for you and I should have been. I was caught up in my own suffering and I... forgot that some other people might be suffering, too."

It's quiet for a few seconds before anyone says anything. And it's John who breaks the silence.

"You know, we're getting dangerously close to hug territory, so I'm gonna fall back." he says, causing me to laugh a little. "Need a ride?"

"You know, being CEO, I actually have some work to do." Oliver says. "I'll find my own way."

"You always do." John says before leaving.

"You don't actually have work, do you?" I ask Oliver before looking at him.

"Nope." is his answer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We go to the alley next to the trash cans next to Verdant in our outfits. We need to talk to Roy.
He hears us and throws his little arrow at me! I catch it before it touches me.
"I've been looking for you." Roy says to Oliver.
"You need to stop." Oliver says, getting to the point.
"You saved my life!" Roy argues. "Made me realize that... it wasn't much of a life. But, I could do what others couldn't, or were too afraid to. I can help you two save this city."
"You're untrained." I say.
"I can fight!" Roy tries argue.
"You can take a BEATING. There's a difference."
"Then, teach me! Let me help you!"
"Okay. You can help us." Oliver says. "But, not by taking on the Triad or the cops."
"Then how?" Roy asks.
"To do what we do, we need intel. You can be our eyes and ears in the Glades. That is how you can save the city." I say.
"How do I contact you two?" he asks.
I throw the small arrow at him. "Stick that in the alley wall, and we'll know to contact you."
We go to the District Attorney's office to see Laurel and try to talk to her again.
The lights go off and voice boxes on. Laurel gives an exasperated sigh.
"I told you two to stay away from me!" she says, turning around and looking at us.
"We thought you might have changed your mind after we stopped the men terrorizing our city." Oliver says.
"This isn't your city, it's your killing fields." Laurel snaps.
"The copycats are still out there."
"Tommy Merlyn isn't."
"We lost a friend that day, too." I say, trying to keep my voice civil. "And we would have gladly given our lives for his."
"Oh, don't worry." Laurel says, smirk on her lips. "Your lives are over. Your lives as free people."
And she presses the button of a silent alarm! Suddenly, cops come in from every door!
Oliver and I pull out our own arrows and are back to back against each other.
"I told you two to stay away from me." Laurel says. "Somehow, I knew that you two wouldn't listen."
Can I just take this moment to say something? And here it is...
Damn, we're in a tight spot!
