2 - FLEEING THE CELLS

A groan slipped through her slightly parted lips as her body began to slowly awaken. She blinked away the blurriness that was clouding her vision and, after a moment, sat up. She groaned yet again when she realised that she was laying on the floor before the Evil Queen herself. "Perfect," she grumbled, re-closing her eyes and falling back onto the floor.

"Good you're awake. Get up," the Evil Queen ordered, rising from her chair. However, Teresa remained on the floor. "I said on your feet!"

"Go to hell," Teresa muttered.

The Evil Queen let out a deep breath through her nose, her fingers twitching in anger, threatening to conjure a fireball and torch the teenager, but she couldn't. As much as she wanted to, she needed to know where Snow White is. So she walked closer to the teenager and lifted her up by her hair, forcing her to stand. "When I say get on your feet, that means get on your feet!"

Teresa cringed from the pain that surged throughout her entire body. Her back was killing her from where King Midas' guard had shot her in the back with an arrow.

"Where's Snow White?"

Teresa scoffed. "Like I'd tell you."

The Evil Queen smirked and gripped the girls throat. "Where's Snow White?" She repeated, her eyes holding a thousand threats within them. "You're her little sidekick, don't tell me you don't know where she is!"

"I...I don't know where she is," Teresa said.

"Don't make me ask again."

"Even if I did know, why the hell would I tell you? Do what you have to do, your highness."

In one swift movement, the Evil Queen tore out her heart. Teresa fell to her knees, clutching at her chest as she took in deep breaths. She smirked down at the teenage girl as she squeezed her heart. "Now tell me, where is Snow White?"

Teresa looked up, and due to the Evil Queen having her heart, had to reply with honesty. "I don't know."

The Evil Queen sighed. "Then you're no used to me." She thrust the teens heart back into her chest before turning to face her guards. "Put her in the dungeon with the others."

"Yes, my Queen," the guards replied in unison. They walked over to Teresa and lifted her from the ground, dragging her down the hallway.

From within the cage she was placed in, Emma Swan watched as two of Regina's guards dragged Teresa to the empty cell next to hers before throwing her inside. Teresa groaned in pain as she landed on her injured back. Emma couldn't help the sigh of relief that escaped her lips since Regina hadn't killed the teenage girl. She had learned so much about Teresa when she read Henry's book, and from her mother.

"Are you alright?" Emma asked in concern.

Teresa looked up from the ground and her eyes landed on the blonde woman in the cell next to hers. She eyed the woman for a moment before nodding. "I'm fine," Teresa replied while sitting up. She cringed in pain and peeked over her shoulder to get a look at her wound. She couldn't really see it that well, but her shirt felt wet and sticky, so she knew she bled a lot.

"Let me see. I can help you," Emma offered.

Teresa gave the woman a strange look. "Why do you care?"

"I..." Emma stopped herself, hesitating for a moment to find the right words since Emma couldn't just tell Teresa that she was from the future. Emma eventually decided on replying with the simplest answer. "I just want to help. You could bleed to death."

"Yeah, well that beats sticking around in this cage for who knows how long," Teresa grumbled as she stretched out her legs to get comfortable. She had a feeling she was going to be in her cell for quite some time.

"We're being executed tomorrow, and I'm assuming you are now, too."

Teresa frowned. Or perhaps I won't be here for a while. She didn't want to die; she still had so much to experience. She was only fifteen, afterall. She has barely lived. "Well, I guess there is no point in bandgaing up my wound now, is there?"

Emma frowned. "You are rather strange for a kid, you know that? How old are you anyway?"

"First: I'm not a kid, so don't call me one, second: I'm fifteen, and third: why the hell do you care whether I let you bandage up my wound if we're going to be executed tomorrow?" Emma was left speechless. She didn't know what to say.

"I'd rather bleed out in here than give Regina the satisfaction of executing me," Teresa continued.

Emma smiled slightly, nodding her head. She could tell why her parents liked her so much. Emma had never met Teresa before in Storybrooke due to Teresa having died, but after Emma read Henry's storybook, she has always wanted to thank Teresa for saving her father at the castle the night she was born. If it had not been for Teresa, she wo

It was silent, until Emma decided to introduce herself to the teenage girl who saved her parents' lives. "I'm Leia."

Teresa looked up and met her gaze. "Teresa."

"I'd say it's nice to meet you, but given the circumstances I'll just leave it at my name," Emma said with a hint of a smirk playing on her lips.

Teresa hummed in a agreement. "So why are you here, Leia? What did you do to get yourself thrown into the Evil Queen's dungeon?"

Emma smiled slightly. "I was at the ball and I seen you and Snow White escape. This guard was going to shoot you guys with an arrow, so I tried to intervene, but apparently I didn't do a good job. Sorry about your back."

Teresa sighed. "It's fine. Better me than Snow. She got away for good, right?"

Emma nodded. "Yeah, Snow White is safe."

"Good."

─────

"What's that?" Asked the woman in the cell on the other side of Emma. Teresa had learned that she was here not long ago, and that her name was Marian. Apparently she had knew where her and Snow were and wouldn't tell the Evil Queen, thus she was put in the dungeon to be executed tomorrow.

Teresa looked over at Emma to see her holding something in her palm. "It's my parents'. I guess you could call it their wedding ring," Emma replied to her questionable gaze.

"And they entrusted you with it?" Asked Marian Hood.

"Sort of. I need to get it back to them."

"Being away from family is a terrible, terrible thing," Marian said, sadness laced within her words. It made Teresa's heart hurt, for she knew just how true those words were.

Emma frowned, sadly. "Yeah, it is."

"The longer I'm separated from them, the pain doesn't dull. It worsens. Maybe, 'cause I know I'll never see them again."

"If my mom was here she would tell me to have hope. Maybe, you should, too. Who knows, maybe you will end up with them again," Emma said.

Teresa snorted. "You, Leia, are beginning to sound like someone I know. She always has hope." Emma smirked, knowing exactly who Teresa was talking about, but decided not to say anything.

"Well I don't think I will see them. I'm fairly certain they already think that I'm dead. And soon that'll be true," Marian said.

It was then that Emma noticed the spoon lying on the ground. "Maybe not. Give me your spoon."

Marian handed Emma her spoon, and Teresa watched with curiosity as she entwined a wire around both two spoons, shaping it into a tool.

"What are you doing?" Marian asked.

Teresa smirked. "Isn't it obvious? She's getting the hell out of here."

"It's all about the tumblers," Emma said as she used the wire to open her cell door. After a moment she was able to step out and wear a smile.

Marian blinked in surprise, then grinned. "You did it."

But Emma didn't run. She couldn't.

Marian looked at her with wide eyes. "What are you waiting for? Go! Get out of here! Go!"

"I'm not leaving either of you alone," Emma declared with determination. She walked over to Marian's cell and quickly picked the lock, freeing the brunette.

"Thank you," Marian said, giving her a grateful smile.

Emma only nodded and moved onto Teresa's cell. Teresa weakly arose to her feet, cringing when a burst of pain exploded once more. The blood loss was beginning to take affect, she could tell. When Emma had her cell open, she walked over to Teresa and threw the teenagers arm over her shoulder as to help her walk.

"You know, Leia," Teresa began. "Besides getting me shot with an arrow, I'm beginning to like you. And I don't like very many people."

As they made their way down the cave they were suddenly met by three people. Emma gasped, stopping abruptly, her eyes widening.

"Swan?"

Emma let out a breathe of relief. "Hook."

"You know this guy?" Teresa asked.

"Teri!" Ruby exclaimed, rushing forward and taking the teen from Emma. She hugged her friend tightly, which caused Teresa to wince in pain.

"It's good to see you, too, Ruby, but you're kind of hurting me."

Ruby quickly let her go, smiling sheepishly. "Right, sorry. I was told you were hit with an arrow."

"How'd you get here?" Teresa asked.

"Snow sent me," Ruby replied.

Teresa nodded. Her attention was drawn over to Emma and Hook's conversation as Emma removed her parents' ring from her finger, saying, "I'm not gonna be around much longer unless we find where this belongs."

"I think that belongs to me."

Teresa's eyes widened at the familiar voice of the Prince, whom she and Snow just robbed. She looked at the ring in shock, then at the Prince, her beginning to race. She said the ring belonged to her parents, so how could this prince be Leia's father if they are the same age?

Teresa watched as the prince reclaimed his ring and smiled down at it.

"You guys have a way out of here?" Emma asked, glancing at their three rescuers.

"Follow me. Snow told me where to meet her," Ruby said.

"Thank you, Leia," Marian whispered to her as she quickly left the dungeon caves to return to her family.

After a moment of walking, Prince James interrupted Hook and Emma's conversation. "I hate to break up a reunion but we have to keep moving. We have to find Snow White."

Teresa turned to Ruby, whispering, "Since when does he care about Snow? We just robbed him."

Ruby chuckled. "I'll explain later, first let's find our friend."
