Chapter 6: The Initiation

Above the Emerald Forest

All the first-year students were launched into the emerald forest. Some of them had landed with their own landing strategy.

Ruby fired a few rounds from her scythe-sniper weapon to slow down her fall, then she turns it to the regular scythe form to catch a tree branch of a tree with her blade and them fall downward at a slower pace.

Weiss summons a white snowflake circle under her by using her weapon and leaps off of it into the forest below her.

Ren along with Nora descends to the forest. The latter was so fast she went offscreen, but Ren was still descending slowly.

He took out his dual pistols and activates the blade parts. He stick them to a big tree as he started spinning around while descending to the ground.

Ren landed and head off, not before stopping when he hears several branches being smashed to pieces. He looked up and saw Pyrrha using her shield to block off the tree branches.

The redhead then landed to a nearby branch as she turns her spear to her rifle form and aimed her surroundings. She saw Ren from her scope down below and lower down her gun.

They both stared at each other before Pyrrha greeted. "Hello there!" She waved.

"Hi." Ren greeted back.

"So, guess were both partners then?" Pyrrha said before jumping off from the tree.

"Seems like it." Ren said as they starts to walk to the forest in search for the relics and other students.

Back in the air, Jaune was descending while screaming out of the top of his lungs. The blonde doesn't have or even planned a landing strategy. 'I don't want to die! I don't want to die!' his thoughts screamed.

"HEADS UP!" He hears Nora's voice coming towards him.

Jaune didn't have time to look back when Nora clashed with Jaune's body. Still in the air, the ginger redhead grab a hold of Jaune and pull out her Mace-Grenade Launcher. Jaune and Nora exchange quick looks with the latter smirking. She then uses her weapon as both of them were launched elsewhere deep in the forest.

Hartmann is still descending to the emerald forest with a nervous look on his face. "Gott, I do not like this."

When he gets a bit closer to the trees, he had the opportunity to activate the glider that is still in square form. Thanks to Glynda informing him, he took out the square from and threw it mid-air.

The square quickly shifted into the glider that looked exactly like in the picture, along with the two bars below it. No time to waste, Hartmann grabbed the two bars tightly as the glider slowly descends below to the forest.

He let out a few breaths since he was able to catch it in time. Who knows that if he fails, he might die from fall damage. "That...was close."

Unfortunately, the wind became a bit strong which made the glider to descend a bit fast to the forest. He braced himself as the glider goes in between all the trees. "Oh crap."

Unlucky him, he made physical contact with a branch when descending. The branch hit him on his stomach, which made him to let go of the glider as he lets out an "Oogh." then he falls down to the ground on his back. It was a good thing the branch was closer to the ground or else he would've died there.

Back at the cliff

Ozpin just observed Hartmann's landing strategy with a look of disappointment. "That was the worst landing strategy ever. Of all time." He commented

"Not his fault." Glynda defended while watching his landing strategy too. "It was his first time using the glider and a tree branch was in his way."

Ozpin sighed and continued to observe Hartmann and the rest of the students.

Back with Hartmann
The German got back to his feet after the rough landing from his glider. "Not what i was expecting, but atleast i made it on the ground."

He gently rubbed his stomach on where the branch hit. After that, he took out his MP40 and exhaled.

"Just hope i am lucky enough to find someone or the relics..." he said to himself before walking off. Not before grabbing the glider on square form and put it back in his pocket.

Elsewhere in the forest
Weiss successfully landed using her glyphs inside the emerald forest. After that, the heiress calmly walked forward while being aware of her surroundings

As she is walking, she thought which person she would meet to be her partner. "Okay, done with the landing strategy, now to find a partner of my own. But which one should i prefer..."

She thought back of the people she had met back at the school, the first one was the strong redhead. "If I'm lucky, i might find Pyrrha. Her and I can be famous in this school!" Thinking of her made the heiress to smile. "Brains and Brawn can make a perfect combination for a team."

Weiss think of the others she met, the next one being Jaune. "Now Jaune...no way. Blonde boy tried to win me, and i say not happening." She said with a frown.

Then another certain male popped up in her head. "Hartmann?" And again, Weiss thought of him as she has mixed feelings that is too complexed for her to figure out.

"He seems nice and a bit kind...but at the same time he looked like he can't even handle his own against the Grimm."

That was the three people she knew as she repeated both Pyrrha, Jaune and Hartmann's name.

"The only one i haven't thought about is-" she stopped her sentence and felt someone dashing towards her and then stopped a few feet away. Weiss turned to the person, and just by her luck, that said person was the dolt herself, Ruby Rose.

Both girls stared at each other for a few seconds. Ruby gave her a smile. "Hey...." She chuckles. "i guess we're partners now, right?"

Weiss sighed since she couldn't fight anybody but her. "Fine." The heiress grabs Ruby's arm and starts dragging her. "But by no means this makes us friends."

"HOORAY!" Ruby cheered as she was getting dragged along.

Elsewhere
Hartmann was jogging through the forest with his MP40 in hand. Incase of Grimm creatures lunging from bushes or trees, he had to be ready for any surprises or he would end up dead.

Hartmann had killed 3 beowolves that tried to jump on him, but thanks to his quick reflexes, he shoot the trio wolves, wasting only 6 bullets. He also need to save his bullets because he do not want to waste it all as he only bring 3 MP40 mags, which is enough.

Hartmann walk deeper into the forest, hoping to find some of the students to be his partner, however it seems he is having some bad luck.

"Where is everyone?" Hartmann asked himself.

When he walked for a good 4 minutes, he come across an opening beyond the trees. There was a medium sized rock was in the middle with pink and yellow flowers blooming beside it.

But it wasn't that he was looking at, he was actually looking at a sword which was leaning beside the rock, as if someone placed it there. Hartmann walked closer to the sword and examined it.

The sword is long and the blades were pretty sharp. The handle was weird to him with all of those little blue circles. Hartmann thought this is some sort of a sword that belongs to a random student or someone that was a great warrior.

Not wasting anytime, he grabbed the sword as the metal shines in from the sunlight, he can see his own face in it.

"Shiny." Hartmann said as he grabbed a metal scarab that is leaning at the rock which was beside the location of the sword.

Something then caught Hartmann's eyes, as he look to a nearby tree. There was something that is shining below the grass. He make his way to the tree and search for the shiny object as he drop his new found sword next to him.

Hartmann found it when the object shines again, which was blending in with the green grassy ground. He examine the object and it was an emerald king chess piece. First of all, he was confused about the chess piece doing in the middle of the forest, and second, why it is near the sword he had grabbed.

He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard growls coming from behind him. He quickly turn around just to avoid a pounce from a lone beowolf. The German drew to his MP40 and fired 4 rounds to it, even though he wanted to shoot 2 at him to save some bullets, he panicked.

More Beowolves charged at him through the bushes. He picked them off one by one, firing 2 bullets each at their skulls, dropping on the ground dead with some of them begin to evaporate. Things got bad for him when his MP40 clicked when he pulled the trigger, which means that the gun was out of ammo.

There were still 3 beowolves charging at him, so he had to act fast of not becoming wolf food. Then the sword that Hartmann picked up clicked in his mind. The sword was on the ground and he dash to it, picking it up in the process.

He took a stance as the 3 Grimm Beowolves stopped for a second. Hartmann was not an expert swordsman, but it's the only weapon he have available to kill the wolves.

One of the wolves lunged at him, but he evade it and stab the wolf from the heart area. The second one threw swipe attacks three times, which the German evaded and block them with his sword.

Hartmann had an idea and stabbed one of the beowolf's leg. With the creature stopped attacking him and howling in pain, Hartmann had the opportunity to stab the wolf to the head.

However, Hartmann was distracted to notice that the third beowolf got on the rock and then it jumped very high to the sky, unleashing it's claws. He then noticed the third wolf, quickly removing his sword from the head of the second wolf and then move out of the way for the beowolf to land with it's claws stuck to the ground, barely missing his skin by inches.

With the Beowolf's claws stuck to the ground, it was vulnerable to fight. Hartmann then raised his sword and he decapitates the Beowolf as the severed body drops on the ground.

The German let out pants after killing 3 wolves with just a sword, a weird looking sword he must say with all the buttons and circles. He thought of the Emerald king chess piece he picked up and remembered that it was in one of his pockets.

There is still some relics to be found and hopefully finding some people around. He switched to his MP40, reloading it and keeping the empty mags. He had a belt on to place his metal scarab along with the sword inside and then he ran off deep to the forest.

Timeskip to the temple

Hartmann sprinted his way through the forest, narrowly dodging Grimm attacks on the way, mainly lunges from beowolves. He finally went out of the trees and went to the large grasslands in the middle of the forest.

He stopped to take a short break from sprinting and dodging. When he looked front, he saw a small stone blocked temple. It was pretty abandoned with some of the stone blocks being on the ground instead of the temple. Vines were on the roof of the temple too. The floor of the structure has very complex design.

He looked closer and he saw there were two figures standing in the structure, which the two he recognize as Yang and Blake. He stood up and made his way to the temple and the two ladies.

Blake notice his presence and look to him, confusing the blonde brawler before turning around and saw the German boy walking to them.

"Hey there, Harts!" Yang was the first to greet him with a wave.

"Hello, Yang." Hartmann waved back while chuckling by the nickname that Yang gave him. "And hello to you too, Blake." He turned to the bow girl with the latter replying with a smile and a nod.

"You found a partner yet?" Yang asked, wondering why he is alone.

"Fortunately, no." he slouches.

"That's okay. You'll find someone soon. But first we should grab one of the relics first." Yang's hand gestured to the little podiums on the temple.

Hartmann went to the temple and took a closer look of the 'Relics'. Turns out they were just chess pieces like the one that he found.

"Chess pieces? Those are the relics?" Hartmann said in disbelief.

"I think so." Blake replied. "We should probably pick one of them."

Blake and Yang went to the pedestals and choose which chess piece they would pick. Yang was aiming for one of the gold pieces that had a horse shaped head in it.

"How about a cute little pony?" Yang suggested to Blake, holding the knight chest piece in her hand.

"Sure." Blake said, smiling.

"Which one are you gonna pick, Harts?" Yang turned to Hartmann, asking him.

"I already did have a chess piece relic or whatever it is." He took out the Emerald king chess piece from his pocket and show it to Brawler and the bow girl.

Both girls looked at in interested, with the blonde turning to the remaining chess pieces as the colors were only Black and Gold.

"Where'd ya get that?" She asked.

"Somewhere in the forest, near a rock. Speaking of that, i founded this sword too." He unsheathed his sword from his scarab.

"Woah!" Yang gasped. "What a cool looking sword!"

"Thanks. It does look cool." He sheathed it back in the scarab and putting the emerald king chess piece back in his pocket.

"If my sister saw that, she would squeal really high." Yang said chuckling. "Speaking of Ruby, have you seen her lately?"

Hartmann shook his head. "No, i have not."

Then they started to hear distant screaming from somewhere, which made them to look around the area in confusion. "Are you two hearing, Screaming?"

"Yeah i am..." Yang listen closely as the scream begin to get louder and it sounded familiar. "Wait, it sounds familiar. Blake do you hear it too?"

Hartmann and Yang turned to Blake, with the bow lady staring at the sky. They raised their eyebrows until when they look up, they saw the source of the screaming.

It was from Ruby and she was falling towards the sky, looking like she is waiting for her ride.

"RUBY??" Hartmann and Yang shouted in unison.

Ruby was trying to grab a hold of her scythe gun as she rode a nevermore along with Weiss. She didn't think of the plan, fully. She let go first and here she was falling and screaming.

'Come on Come on!' her thoughts screamed out as she kept trying to grab her weapon. Thankfully, she managed to do so and activate it in gun form.

"Look out down there!" Ruby shouted to them as she fired a bullet to the ground, merely missing her sister. She did that since the recoil of her gun was strong enough to slow her fall. She fired two more rounds as the recoil is slowing down her fall.

Glad because she didn't fell to her death, she cheered. "YES!" But then she accidently fired another shot because her finger was still in the trigger. And since her weapon was aiming from the side and not on the ground, the recoil sent her crashing into one of the trees.

Ruby then dropped to the ground, feeling dizzy from the hard crash.

Hartmann, Yang and Blake stared at the Red-caped girl, either in shock or confusion. "Did your sister just fall out of the sky and crashed herself like an idiot?" Blake broke the silence.

"Don't talk to her like that." Yang defended. "Come on, let's help her."

Before Yang, Hartmann and Blake were about to help Ruby, several crashing noises are heard in the forest ahead of them, and an Ursa comes out, claws swiping, just as a pink blast of energy hits it in the back.

"Yee-haw!!!" a voice shouted behind the Ursa as the latter crashed to the ground with the rider rolls off from the creature's back, revealing to be Nora. The hyper-active girl gets up from the crash. "Aww...it's broken." She said saddened. She then hopped on it's neck while observing the corpse.

While she is doing that, Jaune comes up behind the Ursa as he was panting heavily, looking like he tried to catch up to her. "Nora. Please...don't do that again...or you should've waited for me to catch up.." Jaune said between his exhales as he turns to Nora. Only to find her gone again as he looks around for her.

Jaune saw the hyper girl heading towards the temple ahead of him. "You've got to be kidding me..." He let out gasps of air as he leaned by a tree. "I think..i need a rest..." Jaune sat down and rest up.

With Nora, she was staring at a golden rook chess piece that caught her interest. "Ooooh..." She swipes it from the pedestal and somehow started singing with it. "I'm the queen of the castle!~ I'm the queen of the castle!~" She sang happily while jumping around with the rook on her hand.

The German, bow girl and the brawler stared in confusion. Again, Blake broke the silence. "Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?"

"I...have no answers to that." said Hartmann.

Yang just ignores it and focused back to her sister. "That's not matter right now. We gotta hel-"

She was interrupted once again as a screech is heard from their right. They saw Pyrrha running from a giant Grimm scorpion, which is a deathstalker as it uproots the trees in his way just to chase her down. On it's tail was Ren holding to it tightly as he fired a few round to the scorpion's head, which had no effect.

Ren was about to lose his grip from the tail as his hand begin slipping. Pyrrha had the time to look back, seeing him losing his grip. "Ren, just hold on back there!"

"I'm trying!" Ren said, now holding the deathstalker's tail with two of his hands.

Apparently, the Deathstalker grew irritated as it stops chasing Pyrrha to shake Ren off of it's tail. Pyrrha stopped running and fired more rounds to the scorpion's eyes. It barely hit it as the Deathstalker grew more annoyed and screeches at her.

The Deathstalker gathered all of it's strength and shake his tail rapidly. This made Ren to lose his grasp as he got launched towards the temple. Pyrrha just watched Ren getting launched and look back to Deathstalker, staring at her.

"Crap." Pyrrha ran again while the Deathstalker chases after her with both of it's claws trying to hit her, but she dodged them.

Ren was still in the air for a short time before his body lands on the concrete floor of the temple. He let out a grunt and slowly gets up.

"REN!!" Nora called him out and quickly embraced him, the latter of course didn't enjoyed it as he just got launched to the air and made a hard landing.

"Nora...too hard." Ren said weakly.

"Oh!" Nora heard it as she stopped hugging him and gave him a bit of space. "Sorry, Renny." She apologized with a sweet smile.

Blake spoke to Yang and Hartmann again on what just happened, again. "Did she just run all the way here with a Death Stalker on her tail?"

"Why do you even think of it?" Hartmann said.

Yang, however, was getting angrier because she kept getting interrupted until she growls and erupts in a small burst of fire, eyes flashing red. "I CAN'T TAKE THIS SHIT ANYMORE! CAN EVERYONE JUST CHILL OUT FOR TWO DAMN SECONDS BEFORE SOMETHING FUCKING CRAZY HAPPENS AND INTERUPTS ME AGAIN FOR HELPING MY SISTER!?!?"

Hartmann, Blake, Nora, and Ren stared at the angry blonde brawler with wide eyes, shocked from her sudden outburst. Yang let out small pants after she snapped.

Hartmann slowly approaches her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I think you should cool down a little, Yang. " He said calmly.

"Besides, your sister woke up and she's heading towards us.." Blake pointed out to Ruby as the latter slowly makes her way to them, letting out slight groans.

"Ugh..." Ruby said rubbing her head in pain. "That didn't go out as planned.."

"You okay, Rubes.?" Yang rushed to her and asked.

Ruby nods. "I think so."

Hartmann made his way to her and asked his own question. "What were you doing falling from the sky. And how did you even do it?"

She starts to twirl her fingers. "Well...i had this bright idea of um...catching a ride of a nevermore and then me and Weiss did it although she wasn't too fond of the plan, so i tell her to jump before i jump. Anyway have you seen her?"

Hartmann and Yang looked at eachother briefly then turning back to the red-caped girl. "No." they said in unison.

"Isn't she supposed to be with you?" Yang said.

Ruby was about to answer but stopped herself when somehow she, Hartmann, Yang, Blake, Ren, and Nora looked above seeing what they all thought the same thing in their minds, like they were communicating to eachother mentally.

And they were right.

Weiss was seen hanging on to the Nevermore's leg, like a damsel in distress. "How could you leave me??"

"I said Jump!" Ruby shouted back at her.

"She's gonna fall." Blake declared.

"I think she can hold on for a while." Hartmann said.

And by just that, Weiss loses her grip as she begin falling from the sky.

"Nope. She's falling." said Ren.

Jaune got up from his short break and catch up to the others. "Hey, what's going on?"Jaune asked, before he looked up and saw Weiss falling to the ground. He grins at the sight of her, giving him the opportunity to catch and save her.

He starts to ran and hopefully catch her. "I got her! I got her! I-" But Jaune didn't look to his front as he tripped on a rock, which made him to fall to the ground face first. "Ow..." He mumbled in pain.

Weiss is still falling as she readied herself for the impact of the fall. She dropped her myrtenaster somewhere below when she was still holding on to the leg of the nevermore, which she means she wouldn't summon any of her glyphs, which also means she can't save herself.

She wouldn't think she would made it this far in initiation. Because of the red-caped dork and her bright idea, she herself ended up falling to her death, but she may be lucky if her aura can save her. As Weiss can feel herself closer to the ground, she waited for the heavy impact of her spine crushed with the rough terrain.

But it didn't happen. Instead she felt soft flesh just below her spine. They felt like arms.

She opened her eyes to find out she was catched by someone and they held her bridal style, nearly had her body to hit the ground. Weiss turned her head to her savior to thank them.

But she was caught her off guard when her savior is the 'Vacuo' wimp-looking boy himself, Hartmann.

"Are you alright, madam?" He asked, still holding her bridal style.

"L-Let go!" Weiss demanded, blushing a bit.

"Oh, sorry." Hartmann let go of her as she stood up, brushing away the dust off her dress.

"Thank you.." Weiss said, hiding her blush while turning back to Ruby and the rest.

They were interrupted by a screech from the deathstalker as it is still chasing the now-exhausted Pyrrha. The redhead turned back, firing 4 rounds at it. One of them got lucky and hit the Deathstalker into one of it's eyes. The scorpion Grimm shrieked in pain and used it's tail to smack Pyrrha away. The redhead then landed in front of the group, slowly getting up.

"Welp, the whole gang's here." Yang announced. "Now we can all die together."

"Not if i can help it." Ruby said as she was about to charge in to the deathstalker and fight it, until she was stopped when Blake grab her by the cape.

"And what do you think you're doing?" Blake asked, still holding her cape.

"Fighting the Deathstalker!" Ruby exclaimed flailing her arms. "Now let go of me!"

Blake turned to Yang, gesturing her head to the struggling Ruby, asking if she would let her cape go and fight the scorpion Grimm by herself.

Yang shook her head 'No' as Blake expected. "Too bad. Your Sister says no." Blake drags Ruby to Yang, with the brawler saying thank you to her and grab Ruby close to her, as Ruby pouts.

"Are we seriously gonna fight that thing??" asked Jaune franticly while pointing to the Deathstalker which was still shaking around from the pain in it's eye.

"Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying." Weiss said. "Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss gestured to the chess pieces that were the 'relics' as all of them looked at them.

"She is right." said Hartmann, agreeing with her. "We are here to grab the artifacts and make our way to the cliffs as soon as possible. We don't have to fight all the Grimm."

"So, Run and live. That's your plan?" Ren said

"I can get behind on that!" Jaune exclaimed.

The gang then went to the pedestals of the temple and grabbed a chess piece for each. Ruby grabs a gold knight, identical to Yang and Blake's while Jaune grabs a gold rook that was next to it.

Weiss too grabs a gold knight chess piece with Pyrrha and Ren grab the golden rook pieces. All of them were set and regroup back.

"Everyone got their relics?" Ruby asked. All of them nod in response.

They all heard the screech of the Deathstalker, which they looked to see that it recovered from the eye wound. The loud screech also attract more Grimm as Beowolves and Ursais came out charging from the trees.

The gang knew they had to retreat ASAP. "We gotta go now." Jaune exclaimed.

"Everyone, scatter!" Hartmann shouted as everyone ran off separate ways

Hartmann went with Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang while the other 4 ran elsewhere in the forest. The Deathstalker followed where Pyrrha went since it wanted payback.

The Beowolves and Ursai chase them as they ran, forcing Blake and Hartmann to give them cover fire with their guns. Few of the Beowolves tried to ambush them up front, but Yang and Ruby quickly took care of them.

"Nevermore incoming!" Ruby called out as the five saw the Nevermore that Ruby and Weiss took a ride on. The Nevermore glared at them and unleashed it's giant feathers to them.

The giant feathers hit one of the trees as the impact broke thr lower branch, cause it to fell down. The tree was about to land on Blake, and Hartmann, which was next to her had to act fast.

"Watch out!" He pushed Blake out of the way as the tree landed between them, blocking the path.

"Scheisse..." He cursed.

"You alright?" Blake asked.

"I am fine." Hartmann look behind him and he sees the horde coming towards him. "Go. I will catch up to you all."

Without waiting for a reply, Hartmann took another route and ran into the forest. Blake glanced at him before turning back and catch up to Ruby, Weiss and Yang.

Weiss turned to her. "Where's Hartmann?"

"A tree blocked his path. He had to take another route, but he'll catch up." Blake answered.

Weiss sighed. "I hope so."

"Nevermore still after us!" Yang called out, pointing to the giant black bird up in the sky, flapping it's wings. The 4 girls then had to take care of the bird so they went elsewhere in the forest.

With Hartmann
Hartmann successfully gunned down more of the Grimm creatures with his MP40. He had wasted 2 mags and was on his last one. He let out a sweat and hoped the bullets are enough.

He was sure he is almost near the cliff somewhere so he had to keep running. Hartmann reached another opening and he took a short break, panting. He look behind him and there were no Grimm in sight, yet.

"Gott, there is just so many of them." He muttered about the Grimm chasing him.

Hartmann felt a presence and turned to his west, and as he expected, it was two more beowolves. The two Grimm creatures charged at him, but Hartmann quickly pick them off and shot them to the head, wasting 5 bullets.

He heard another growl to his north. He quickly turned to the direction, but what he met was a medium sized rock heading towards him. Hartmann reacted by diving himself to the ground to avoid the rock and landed with a hard thud.

Hartmann let out a grunt of pain and look back to his north as where the rock came from.

There he saw a single Beowolf all by himself. However, the wolf was standing in his hind legs.

A little confused, Hartmann still had to shoot them down. He reached for his MP40 and stood up. He came into contact with another rock launching to him and he quickly dodged it. Hartmann then noticed that the standing beowolf was the one responsible for throwing the rocks at him.

The same wolf glared at him and then he picked up a big tree branch with one of his hands and he was holding it as a club. Hartmann was shocked when the Beowolf was acting like he was a human.

Now he knew he had trained to kill Grimm for a week or two, but he never seen one that was acting like this.

Hartmann pull the trigger of his MP40 and did not notice he was firing all of his bullets because he panicked.

The bullets didn't hit the Beowolf since he swiftly dodge them. When Hartmann's gun is out of bullets, the wolf begin to charge at him on it's hind legs, tree branch on it's hand.

Hartmann evaded one of his attacks. He pulled the trigger of his gun again, but he realized that he wasted all of his bullets for the wolf. The wolf give him an evil smirk, which surprised Hartmann again.

"Ah, scheisse!" He put away his MP40 and unsheathed his sword.

The two stand off for a few seconds before the Beowolf made the first move and swing his branch to the German. Hartmann rolled over, dodging the attack and counterattacked with his sword.

He was about to slash the Beowolf's side before the latter was quick enough to parry the blade with it's branch. They then fought in a CQC fight with the wolf having the upper hand and Hartmann struggling to counter-attack.

However, Hartmann landed a few slashes to the beowolf's body, which made him to growl in anger and swing his tree branch aggressively. Hartmann had to step back and avoid so many swings from the branch while thinking of an opportunity to hit the wolf again.

When their weapons parried again, Hartmann thought of an idea and then kicked the wolf to the crotch area.

The wolf let out a yelp and then it still had the strength to kick the German hard, launching the latter back as the former held it's crotch area in pain.

Hartmann stood up, rubbing his back and then looked to the Beowolf. He recovered and glares at the human in pure anger for what he just did, with his sharp teeth gritting.

Hartmann gulped and retreated from the wolf, leaving behind his MP40. The wolf roared loud and sprinted to kill the German human.

As Hartmann ran through the forest, he can hear the wolf behind him as he was smashing the trees, bushes and rocks that were in his way. He could've sworn he heard another beowolf that got smacked by his comrade as they let out a whimper.

He got out from the trees yet again but stopped when he reached an edge of a cliff. He look down before turning back. The Beowolf have arrive and it was very angry. Hartmann hit a dead end with the wolf on his front and the cliff edge by his back. He tried to think of the situation through.

Suddenly the wolf raised it's tree branch and throw it to the German like a spear. Hartmann dodge the incoming branch as it fell down to the depths of the cliff.

The Beowolf growled when he missed and then suddenly realizes that he threw away his weapon off of a cliff, never to be seen again.

Hartmann let out a chuckle to the wolf. "Vulnerable without your weapon, are you?" He taunted.

The Beowolf glared at him and then he unsheathed his two claws on his paws.

Hartmann looked at the him blankly, forgetting that the Grimm still has his claws. "Oh...right then." He unsheathed his sword to fight him again.

The Beowolf charge ahead, swiping his claws to Hartmann. The latter evaded the first slash and parried the second one with his sword. Noticing they were close to the edge, Hartmann pass by the wolf and manage to slice his back.

The wolf let out a grunt and turned around, seeing Hartmann stepping back. Both of them continued to fight as they stay far from the edge of the cliff and back to the trees.

Hartmann used the trees for cover as the Beowolf's strong claws slice the branches, leaving claw marks. When Hartmann hid behind one of the trees, the Beowolf send a strong punch through the branch. His fist hit Hartmann's steel helmet which made a sting to the Beowolf's fist as it retracted from the branch, rubbing it. While Hartmann feel dizzy when the impact from his helmet hit his head.

Both fighters were incarcerated, before Hartmann recovered first and then had the opportunity to stab the beowolf from the body.

The wolf let out a roar in pain and then he grab the blade of the sword and pulled it out from his body with all of his might, towering Hartman's strength.

The wolf then threw away the sword, but with Hartman's hand still in the handle, the latter got thrown out of the trees too.

Hartmann, now on the ground and feel a bit exhausted, tried to drag himself away from the Beowolf. But as he look back, the wolf catch up to him, slowly walking his way with his hind legs.

The wolf was now up close to Hartmann. The former then stops the latter to crawl away to his sword by stepping on one of his legs.

Hartmann stared at the wolf as the latter smirks evily, raising one of his claws to slash him.

However, the wolf stopped when he heard shouting and screeching up far, so did Hartmann.

They both look from the clouds at the cliff and they saw Ruby Rose riding on a struggling nevermore, her scythe impaled into one of it's wings.

Looking closely, Ruby was trying to rip open it's wing with her scythe while keeping her balance on top of it.

Ruby looked like it was guiding the bird into the nearby cliffs, the one where Hartmann and the wolf is. The Nevermore's left wing is almost loose and all Ruby has to do is guide it to safer ground.

While the Beowolf was distracted from the sight, it gave Hartmann the chance to grab his sword and then stab the leg that was stepping on his. At the same time, Ruby had ripped off the Nevermore's left wing as the Bird is now falling to the direction where Hartmann and the Beowolf are.

When Hartmann stabbed it's leg, he perked up and hit his crotch area again. This time with his knee.

Hartmann quickly ran away from the area while the Beowolf was stuck there, holding his crotch in pain. The now dead Nevermore was getting closer and closer to the forest. Ruby hold her balance on top of it and waited for the impact.

The poor Beowolf glance at the falling Nevermore, giving one last look before the beak of the Grimm bird impaled him.

The Giant Nevermore crashed into the ground as it killed the Beowolf with it's beak. As it crashes, Ruby quickly hopped down and did a barrel roll.
Hartmann hid behind one of the trees when the Nevermore crashed.

By the time that was over. The German took a peek from the trees. He saw the Beowolf that had tried to kill him is now dead by the hands of his own kind.

He went out of his cover and then he saw Ruby, brushing away all the dust that got in to her outfit.

"Ruby." He called out for her.

Ruby heard his call and turned to the German. "Hartmann!" She used her speed and dash to the Boy, giving him a hug. "I'm so glad you're alright!"

Hartmann didn't expected the embrace, but he didn't mind of it. "I guess i was just lucky enough to survive all of that."

Ruby stopped hugging him as the latter looked at the dead giant nevermore. "Wow."

"Yeah i know. Cool wasn't it?" Ruby said.

"Cool? That was pretty awesome. What you did just then was breathtaking. You are pretty amazing, Ruby." Hartmann complimented.

Ruby blushed at that, looking away from him. "Oh stop it you!~" she says and it continue to muttering while she is still blushing.

Hartmann let out a chuckle at her reaction. "So, where is Blake, Weiss and your sister?" He asked.

Ruby stopped blushing and answered. "They're not that far, probably. Also we encountered the others too. Seems like the deathstalker chase them until the eight of us meet. We fought the it and the Nevermore like badasses too!"

Hartmann smiled. "Wonder how it went?"

"I'll tell you the whole thing as we go back to the others." Ruby said gesturing to him to follow her.

"That will be great. But first i need to get to my gun first somewhere in the forest. I left it there when I ran." Hartman pointed to the forest.

"No worries. I can accompany you. Let's go!" Ruby marched her way inside the forest.

"Wait up." Hartmann chuckled again and catch up to her. Before that, he turned back to the dead Nevermore and the dead Beowolf as they were slowly disintegrating to dust.

He exhaled and his thoughts spoke. 'That was pretty intense..' Hartmann then walk away and join with Ruby to get his weapon and then join back with the others, and finally go back to Beacon to safety.

Timeskip into the Beacon Amphitheater

After the initiation, all first year students were gathered into the amphitheater to form up their teams. Almost all of them had formed teams, and only a few more students were up left. 4 male students come up to the stage as Ozpin announced their names.

"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark." The screen of the auditorium shows each of their profiles as the boys are lined up for the applauding audience to see. The professor continued. "The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team Cardinal/CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!" The audience gives them another applause as the 4 boys walked out of the stage.

Hartmann was standing amongst the students with Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang as he saw Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha and Ren were up next to enter the stage. "Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the gold rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team Juniper/JNPR. Led by...Jaune Arc!"

Ren, Pyrrha and Nora smiled, but Jaune was a bit surprised when Ozpin announced that he was going to be leader. "Wait..l-led by me?" Jaune asked.

Ozpin give him a nod. "Congratulations, young man."

Jaune felt nervous since he never had led a team before, nor have been a leader of any kind. He then felt Nora's hands grabbing his shoulder as he turned to her. "Don't worry, Jaune. Your Partner and teammates will be right with you!" she encouraged.

Jaune smiled. "Thanks."

As JNPR exited the stage, it was now for Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang to enter. Hartmann wished them good luck and they all gave him a smile as they walked to the stage.

"Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the gold knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" Ozpin announced.

Hearing this, Weiss looks to her right surprised, where Ruby is obviously in shock as the same as Jaune. Hartmann clapped along with the audience for the team as Yang goes over to embrace Ruby.

"I'm so proud of you!" Yang said to her in her embrace. Weiss rolls her eyes while Blake stayed silent.

Hartmann just watched before a familiar voice called out to him. "Hartmann." He turned to his right and saw the chocolate bunny, Velvet with Coco by her side along with Fox and Yatsuhashi behind them.

"Oh, hello there." He greeted.

"I just wanted to ask you. How was the Initiation?" Coco asked.

"I would say very intense." He hears fox groaning and then looked to Coco smirking at him. The former then gave her a few lien as she puts them in the pocket.

Hartmann looks at them confused before Velvet clarified to him. "Fox and Coco had a bet that if you think the initiation was very hard for you. Coco went for the hard one, and she won the bet."

"I see." Hartmann said.

"So, where's the rest of your teammates?" Yatsuhashi asked him.

This bring Coco and Fox attention and looked back to him. They look around and noticed that Hartmann was by himself.

"Yeah...where are your teammates, Hartmann?" asked Coco.

"Well...i couldn't find anyone during Initiation. And I do not think there were that many first year students. So i guessed i am alone here." He said.

Fox put a hand on his lower jaw as he remembered of one of the rules of the school. He then replied. "From what i can remembered. If you don't have a team or a partner, you are aimed to be expelled in this school."

This made the rest of the trio to be in shock, Velvet being the most as she turn back to Hartmann. "Does that mean you're leaving?" She said saddened by the news.

The German sighed. "I do not know. But if i am, then it was nice meeting you four."

Velvet looked down sad as her ears drooped down while the others frowned. They wouldn't believe their friend would leave beacon like that, even when he fully enrolled into the academy.

Ozpin had already done announcing the teams, as one of his eyes glances at the German boy and CFVY, then decided it is time.

"That's for all the teams for today. However, we still have one more person to announce." This had grab the attention of all the audience, CFVY, RWBY, JNPR and Hartmann. Ozpin then turned to the last person.

"Erich Hartmann. Please, come up to the stage."

The German was a bit nervous at first before sighing and turning back to team CFVY. "Here goes nothing."

Hartmann walked to the stage and stand infront of Ozpin. He heard whispers and murmuring from the crowd, wondering what will happen to me when he didn't have a team. Few individuals from RWBY and JNPR were also worried for him.

"Now we know one of the rules is when someone doesn't find a team or a partner in initiation, they will be expelled from this academy." Some of the people from the crowd let out slight gasps, including Ruby and Jaune. Even Weiss.

"However, Mr. Hartmann here had showed off his skills on the field and might i say, it impresses me. Which means he will not be expelled in this academy." Hartmann let out a sigh in relief, and so did Ruby, Velvet, Coco, Jaune and Weiss. Ozpin continued. "But, that isn't the main reason he stays in the academy. Mister Eicher has also found one of the rarest relics that had been in the forest for decades."

The audience were a bit confused until the screen shows the emerald king chess piece that Hartmann picked up. Some of the people caught interest in it and it was pretty shiny. Coco had to lower down her shades to see the chess piece with her naked eye, and then she whistles.

Ozpin continued. "Because of this, Mister Hartmann will be joining the specialist program."

Hartmann had heard of this Specialist program. Glynda told him about it. It is only reserved to those that can work on their own individually. But the program had bee abandoned for decades since the third specialist huntsman was announced. Which guess him that Hartmann counts as the fourth specialist huntsman.

Ozpin turned to him and asked. "Now all we need is a codename to identify you better. Any suggestions or are you stick to your name?"

Hartmann think about it for a second until he thought of one. "My codename will be Jaeger/Jäger."

"So it seems." Ozpin gave a nod and then announced it to the audience. "From this day forward, you will be known as Specialist Erich 'Jäger' Hartmann. You'll work alone but you can join with your fellow huntsmans and assist them when they are in need."

The audience clapped and cheered for their fourth specialist huntsman. Ruby was squealing and jumping up and down. CFVY was very relieved that he gets to stay in the school, mostly Coco and Velvet. Weiss was interested when he became a specialist Huntsman. A word she had never heard for a long time.

"Thank you, Professor Ozpin." Hartmann give him a bow.

Ozpin smiled. "Looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year." He says looking towards the crowd.

Somewhere in Vale

In a shadowy room filled with shelves and a desk in the back, Roman Torchwick was on his scroll as it look like he was talking to someone. The muffled conversation ended with Roman angrily slams the scroll down as he sighed. He then put a cigar to his mouth and light it up with his symbolized lighter.

Just then, a door next to him opened as the hooded man walked in with his PPSH 41 in hand. He glanced at Roman with narrowed eyes.

"Roman." He called out with a gruff accent.

Roman let out a groan and turned to him. "What is it?"

The man only gestured his head to the door behind him as another hooded man while also wearing a grey mask enters the room with a trolley.

Roman smirked and holds out a collection of Lien, which he places them on the table, and then the second hooded man takes it.

"Open it." Roman said.

The masked man obliges and open the crate with a crowbar, revealing a large amount of Dust crystlas of varying colors. Roman picks up a blue one and looks at the rest, while the Hooded man slouches his PPSH 41 behind his neck and stares at the loot given by it.

"Looks like we're gonna need more men." Roman declared, smirking
