Chapter 49, Part I
Ahana's P.O.V
It's been one and a half months. Rehaan practically lived with us. He wouldn't let me out of sight even for a minute. It was cute, really, but annoying too. He was always there. So I made him go out and spend the day with Biren. I am nearly back to normal but my family is still pretty paranoid after what happened. Oh yes, Biren asked Nidhi out a month after my discharge from the hospital. Apparently, they've kept in touch ever since they first met. I'm happy for her. I can see that Nidhi really likes, or even loves Biren and Biren definitely reciprocates her feelings.
"Hey!" Nidhi said as she entered my room. "Lover boy isn't here?! Wow," I rolled my eyes but smiled and said, "I sent him out with your boyfriend. Didn't Biren tell you?" She sat on my bed and said, "Yea he said something about meeting Rehaan but I didn't think he would actually hang out with Biren."
"Yea well I forced him," I said nonchalantly. She laughed. "Your wedding is in less than a month. This is so exciting!" Yes, I am getting married in half a month. I am going to be Mrs Ahana Chauhan Malhotra. Yes, I am going to keep my maiden name too. I am so nervous. "Oy! Stop dreaming about Rehaan. We're going Lehenga shopping now. Aunty and Rehaan's mum are waiting downstairs," Nidhi said. "Oh right! I'm ready. Let's go."
Soon we found ourselves in the boutique looking at various outfits. "Everything is so pretty!" Mum said looking at all the clothes in awe. I was more nervous than excited. "Hey! Try this on!" Rehaan's mum said, holding a beautiful Lehenga. It was dark pink. I nodded nervously and went to the fitting room. One of the employees helped me out. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked great but this wasn't the Lehenga for me. I walked out of the fitting room and showed them the Lehenga.
"It's very beautiful but I don't think it's the one," Rehaan's mum said. I breathed out in relief when everybody else agreed upon the same thing. I really didn't want to hurt Rehaan's mum but I didn't think the Lehenga was for me.
After about two hours of searching, I had given up. But none of the others, especially Nidhi were even close to giving up. I wanted to cry because we couldn't find any suitable Lehenga. They were pretty, of course but I wanted to look beautiful. For Rehaan and for myself.
"Oh my god. This is beautiful!" I heard Nidhi squeak. I rolled my eyes. She said the same thing for every Lehenga that she found. I bet this one wasn't the one either. "Look!" she said, standing in front of me, holding the Lehenga.
I looked at it, and was in awe. This time, Nidhi's squeaks made complete sense. It was the most beautiful Lehenga I had ever seen. It was simple and perfect.
"Go try it," mum said. I nodded and went into the fitting room and tried the Lehenga on. It fit perfectly and it looked amazing. I went out shyly and showed them the dress. They gasped and all of them had a look of awe on their faces. "Beautiful.." Rehaan's mum whispered. Nidhi was smiling extremely widely. Mum had tears in her eyes, "My baby. My beautiful baby. You look like a princess,"
I smiled and hugged her. "This is the one," Nidhi said and hugged me. "This is the one," I repeated.
"Rehaan won't be able to take his eyes off you Aha!" she teased. I smacked her shoulder and glared at her mockingly. "Seriously, Aunty ji, you're going to be a grandma very soon. Be ready!" she told Rehaan's mum. I gasped and turned red out of embarrassment. What is she doing? In front of Rehaan's mother!
To add to my embarrassment, Rehaan's mother laughed and said, "Of course I'm ready. The way these two act, I'm surprised I don't have a grandchild yet. And Ahana, I absolutely don't mind if you and Rehaan have a baby right away,"
Oh my god.
This is so embarrassing. Sometimes, having cool parents and cool future parents-in-law isn't always an amazing thing.
"I'm going to go change," I muttered and ran into the fitting room, tripping on the way. I could hear their laughter. Even though this was embarrassing, I wouldn't have it any other way. Not that I'll openly admit that.
I changed back into my normal clothes and we bought the Lehenga and a few other clothes for the other ceremonies. Rehaan had already bought his kurta and other clothes. We then went to the jewellery store and bought a few ornaments. Mostly it was my future mother-in-law and my mum buying.
We reached home and I saw Rehaan and Biren watching TV. As soon as they saw us, their eyes lit up and they immediately rushed towards us and helped us with our bags. "Hey! How'd it go?" Rehaan asked, hopefully.
I smiled, "It went well"
"Uhm you got your Lehenga?" he asked. I knew he wanted to see the Lehenga but no can do.
"Yep!"
"Can I see it?"
"Nope!"
"Absolutely not, Rehaan. You're not supposed to see the Lehenga before the wedding day," mum said mock sternly.
He sighed and slumped back into the sofa. I saw Biren and Nidhi going towards my room. I got some water to drink and then went upstairs. Rehaan hot on my trail.
I opened the door only to see Biren and Nidhi in a rather compromising position and well, making out.
"Oh come on!" Rehaan said. "Not here too!" he added. They didn't even cringe or move away. They slowly took their time to break away.
"You don't speak Rehaan. We've caught you making out with Ahana more than ten times," Nidhi said, mock glaring at us, mainly Rehaan.
I blushed a little. Even though I was used to their open teasing, I couldn't help but blush and what Nidhi was saying was the truth. When Rehaan stayed over, we would cuddle and kiss here and there but it never went beyond a make out session. Even though, we really wanted to do more and sort of got lost in the moment, we wanted to wait till we're married.
I could see Rehaan's excitement increasing day by day as we moved closer to the wedding date. He still flirts and has his usual share of innuendos. Even though I know he's joking, I'm still afraid of what I'm going to do. Rehaan has done it before. I am completely inexperienced. What if I don't satisfy him? I really want to. Not because I'm going to be his wife but because I genuinely love that boy.
"Touché," Rehaan said and smiled cheekily. I elbowed his rib and went towards my cupboard and kept my Lehenga in and then locked the cupboard.
Biren and Nidhi left the room to get something to drink. Rehaan hugged me from behind and said, "Just a few days left baby. Then you're mine and I'm yours," and kissed my cheek. I turned around and put my arms around his neck. "I love you," I said softly.
His smiled widened even more and he brought his forehead to mine and repeated the same words. "I love you too."
Fast forward to the wedding day
Ahana's POV
"I'm so nervous," I said to Nidhi. Today was the main wedding. Today I was officially going to be married to Rehaan. I was dressed and in a while I was going to be called at the Mantap. "Everything will be great. I promise. Besides, you shouldn't be nervous. You're getting married to the man you love and who loves you back with the same or even mire intensity," She said and smiled gently.
"I can't believe I'm getting married," I said. "I know right? It's like we were kids just yesterday and today you're going to be a wife," she said.
"You too, you know?" I teased her. So both Biren's and Nidhi's family were happy with their relationship and their engagement ceremony was in three months.
"Shut up." She said, turning a little red. I hugged her.
"Don't cry. You'll ruin your make up," she said and glared at me. I laughed and nodded. "You girls ready?" mum asked, coming into the room. "You look beautiful baby" she said and hugged me. I nodded and smiled, unable to say anything.
"Rehaan is perfect for you. I know he'll keep you happy and you will keep him happy too," she added. I smiled and wiped a few tears and hugged her again. "It's time beta. We should go,"
I nodded and took a deep breath and we left the room.
