Chapter 33
Bethany's P.O.V
"So he just agreed? Do you even know what you're saying?!" I yelled in frustration. "Bethany, I told you. He genuinely likes her. You can't no you mustn't try to break them apart. I suggest you just let them be." Dad said, unintentionally adding fuel to the fire.
"Dad!! I want him. No. I need him." I said, exasperated. "Bethany. Be reasonable. First of all, you don't need him. Second of all, we are leaving India as soon as our deal is sealed because that was the main, wait no, that was the only reason to why we came here. Only For signing the deal with the Malhotra Industries. Nothing else. Also, even if you do somehow get together with him, he lives in India Bethany. Not in the US." Dad blabbered.
What is wrong with him? Can't he see that I really like Rehaan and want to spend the rest of my life with him?
I glare at the person who brought me this news. Jay. Jay Varma. I met him in the US. He's a computer-software freak and a brilliant spy. He was interning for my dad.
My dad flipped when he found out that I was making Jay spy on Ahana and Rehaan but he can't really do anything about it because when I make my decision, I don't change my mind.
"Do you have any other news about them? And are you sure that they're getting engaged?" I asked him. He nodded. "That is all. And yes, I am sure that they're engaged." He replied.
"When?" I asked.
"Not sure about that; But soon. I heard their mothers speak." He said. I threw the glass I held in my hand towards the wall. The sound of the glass breaking being the only sound that was made.
"Bethany. Stop it." Dad said, holding my hand. "I want him Daddy. And I am going to get him. Whether you like it or not. I cannot let Ahana marry him." I stated.
"Bethany. Think about it. If you do whatever you're planning to do and eventually if he agrees to be with you, do you think he is going to be happy? Face the truth, he likes Ahana. Not you. And if you do marry him, he wouldn't be happy and neither will you." Dad said.
"Dad! You don't get it. I like him. I really do. And don't you want to see your daughter happy? I will be happy with him dad. And about him not liking me, why wouldn't he? I have the looks, the body and the money. And I will definitely be loyal to him. What more does a man look in for a woman?!" I snapped.
"A good personality.." I heard Jay mumble.
I turned to look at him. "What did you just say?"
"N-nothing." He said nervously. "You think I don't have a good personality? Who are you to say that huh!" I said extremely irritated.
"I didn't say anything." He said. "Look Jay, your work is to spy on and tell me everything that you know about Ahana and Rehaan. That's all. You don't have to state your opinions in my matters. Am I being clear?" I asked him firmly.
He nodded. "You can leave." I said. He left without a word.
"Dad, either you help me or you don't interfere in my life. Choose whichever." I told my dad.
He looked at me with a worried expression. "Bethany, I will not help you in something that I know is wrong. You will be ruining not just your life but Rehaan's and Ahana's too. You'll be breaking someone's relationship. Does that not make you feel bad at all?" he asked.
I shook my head. "Dad, they don't belong with each other. Rehaan is the one. I know it. He's the one for me and I am just fighting for my love. How is that wrong? And why should I feel bad for that? Also, I won't be ruining anyone's life because eventually, this would have happened. If not now, maybe after they were married. And that would have been worse. So better now than then right?" I said and left the room, not sparing a glance towards my father.

Ahana's P.O.V
Soon after Rehaan left, my mum entered my room. "Ahana?" she called. "Yea ma. Just coming out." I said from the bathroom. I was washing my face. It had turned red due to all that laughing.
I came out, wiping my face with a towel. "Yes ma?"
"Rehaan was here right?" she asked. I nodded. "Aryan told me about what happened when he had come to your room." Mum said.
Aryan! I am going to kill him. Why did he have to tell everything to ma? That boy just can't keep a secret.
"Ahana, beta, I hope you and Rehaan aren't doing anything that should be done after marriage." She said looking a bit awkward and worried at the same time.
I blushed a deep shade of red. So much for washing my face!
"Uh no ma. We haven't done anything like that." I said awkwardly.
"So you're still a..virgin?" mum asked, not looking at my face.
"Uh ya."I said. "Oh okay. That's great. Because the way Aryan described it-" "Ma! He exaggerated. We weren't going to do anything like that." I said.
When will this conversation end? Because I have to go kill Aryan.
"What actually happened then?" my mum asked with an eyebrow raised.
I sighed. She wasn't going to let go of this. "Nothing ma. He just came to visit me because he heard that I was sick. That's it." I said, hoping she would let it go.
"Definitely not what Aryan told me. He said Rehaan was above you, on your bed. And that his face was centimeters away from yours and you guys were about to kiss but didn't because he entered." Mum said. I guess not.
"That didn't happen ma." I said, not knowing how else to respond. Why did Aryan have to give details?!
"Ahana. Beta (child) tell me the truth." She said, holding my hand.
I looked at her and sighed. "Fine. That happened. Can we let it go now?" I said. She smiled. "Okay. But I have just one more question." She said.
I raised an eye brow. "How did you end up in that position Ahana?" she asked.
Ugh. Since when did mum get so interested in every aspect of my life? I'm exaggerating.
Mum always was and is my best friend. Other than Nidhi of course. She has always been there for me and I loved her for it. She made me feel like I mattered to her. She would ask me how my day was, where I went, what I did without sounding nosy and would always respect it when I said I didn't want to speak.
"He was tickling me and I fell on the bed and he fell on top of me. We didn't really realize it because he was occupied in tickling me and I was laughing too hard to think. And right when we realized what position we were in, Aryan barged in, saw us and ran to you." I explained, leaving out the nearly kiss part.
"Oh okay. Whatever it is Ahana, I trust you. Even if you do something that is supposedly 'wrong' by our society, I know you would do it because you are sure. Oh and dress up dear, we are going to meet the Malhotra's to fix a date for your engagement." She said.
"I have picked out this dress for you, please wear it. You'll look beautiful. Rehaan wouldn't be able to take his eyes off you." She said with a wink. "Mom!" I said embarrassed.
She laughed. "Ma! Can you please keep this in the fridge?" I said, giving her the food packet that Rehaan bought.
She looked at me questioningly. "Rehaan bought it." I said. She smiled at looked inside the cover. "He even knows your favorite food eh?" she asked, teasingly.
"Nidhi told him." I said rolling my eyes but smiling nonetheless. She smiled and left the room.
I looked at what she had chosen for me to wear.
It was a pink and orange anarkali (An Indian traditional attire) that my aunt had bought for me. It was beautiful. I hadn't worn it for such a long time. I really hope I look nice today because I want to look good for Rehaan. I want to please him.
I've never felt like this but with him, I want to be and look perfect for him; even though I know that I have a fair share of flaws.
I took the dress and looked at the mirror. I will look good today. I have to. Today is the day that my engagement date would be fixed after all.
I smiled to myself and started dressing up.
