Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Ahana's P.O.V

It is five in the evening. Rehaan is yet to call me. I sighed. What if he has changed his mind? Just as I was about to drown in other unnecessary negative thoughts, there was a knock on my door.

"Come in!" I said. The door opened and in came Nidhi. "What do you want?" I asked, not so sweetly. "Is that the way you treat your guest? Where are your manners Mrs Malhotra?" she asked with a smirk, happily sitting on my bean bag.

I shook my head and repeated, "What do you want Nidhi?"

"Oh wow. Something is definitely up. Is it got to do with Rehaan? Wait, of course it is. Wait, I don't know if it is but it has to cause I don't see anything else that could be bothering. Am I right? Wait, you're not hiding anything from me right? Whoa. You didn't even blush when I called you 'Mrs Malhotra'.

What happened? It has to be him. Did he do something? I'll break his bones if he did. Wait, did you guys fight? What did you do? Maybe he didn't do anything. Maybe you did. Tell me what happened! Why are you so quiet?!" she asked. She nearly turned blue.

"Well, if you'd let me, I would speak." I said glumly.

"What? But I do let you speak." I narrowed my eyes at her. "Nidhi. You did not let me speak." I said. "Oh. Was I rambling?" she asked. "Mhmm."

Nidhi has a habit of rambling whenever she's annoyed, angry or excited. It's cute sometimes. Sometimes.

She sighed, "What happened?" It was my turn to sigh. "Nothing. Rehaan said he would call me but he didn't. Well not yet at least." I said, trying to sound casual. Silence. There was absolute silence after I said that.

Why isn't she saying anything? I turned to look at her just to see her gawking at me. "What?" I said, feeling self-conscious. "You are here drowning in sadness because Rehaan didn't call yet? You're kidding me right? Ahana! He just hasn't called yet and you're going crazy. He must be in a meeting Ahana! You shouldn't get upset for this!" she said.

"Really?" I asked her, hopefully. She rolled her eyes. "Yes! My god. You're so whipped!" she said, laughing.

I felt my face heating up, "Shut up okay?" Nidhi laughed. "Oh yeah! I'm here for a sleepover." She stated. I rolled my eyes. "What? But where's your bag?" "Downstairs. I left it on the couch." She said, smiling cheekily. I rolled my eyes again but couldn't help smile. Nidhi will never change.

My phone started ringing. It was Rehaan. I smiled unconsciously. "Rehaan eh? See I told you!" Nidhi said, smiling triumphantly. I smiled and picked up the call. "Hello?" I said. "Hey" he said.

"I'm sorry I couldn't call earlier. I had two consecutive meetings." He said. "Its okay." I said, softly.

"So uhm, about our date, you're still up for it, right?" he said. I could hear the nervousness in his voice. It was so cute!

"I am." I said. He cleared his throat and said, "Great! When are you free?" "I'm free today, tomorrow and day after." I said.

"Okay. I can't make it today, I'm free tomorrow. So tomorrow?" he asked. "Okay. What time?" I asked. "We can meet at around eleven in the afternoon and have lunch and maybe hang around in the evening? If that's cool with you." He said. I smiled, "That'd be great."

"Okay cool. So I'll pick you up tomorrow. I'll text you details by tonight." He said. "Okay." I said.

"What did you do today?" he asked. "I baked!" I said a bit too enthusiastically. I remained quiet after that. I could hear him chuckle. I blushed.

"You really like baking eh?" he said. I nodded and then realized that he can't see me. "Yea."

"What did you bake?" he asked. "Cupcakes. Chocolate and butterscotch flavoured."

"I love butterscotch" he said. "Now you've got me all tempted." He said with a sigh. I laughed, "I can get you some, if you want." I said. "Yes. Yes you will get me cupcakes. Not just some but many." He said. I laughed and agreed.

" What did you do?" I asked him. "Same old. Work. I had two meetings and then some paper work."

"How did your meetings go?" I asked. I didn't want to put down the phone. I liked talking to him. Listening to his voice. His voice was husky and a little rough. It was hot.

"It went better than I thought actually. Mr Llyod, my client sent his daughter instead for the meeting. And surprisingly she was good. And my other meeting was with Mr Syed. It went pretty well and I'm sure the deal is ours." He said. His voice had so much joy in it. It made me happy.

I didn't really like it when he praised that girl. But I knew I could trust him.

"That's awesome Rehaan. Congrats!" I said, genuinely happy for him.

He laughed, "Thanks! Even though it hasn't been finalized yet. Anyways, I have to go. Dad's calling." He said. I felt a little disappointed but I let it go.

"Okay. Bye." I said, softly. "Bye. And Ahana? Always know that I don't want to ever, stop talking to you. I love your voice. I'll see you tomorrow." He said, softly. "I like talking to you too." I whispered.

I knew he was smiling too. "Bye." He said. "Bye" I kept my phone down and saw a smiling Nidhi. "Soo?"

"I have a date tomorrow."
