Chapter XXXI

"What's wrong?" I asked, noticing her angry expression.

"We're running out of time. We're down to 8 hours. But knowing Liam, he's toying with us. The bastard is speeding up and slowing down on purpose so we'll never expect him to show up out of nowhere."

I frowned, whirling around to find Edward, sprawled out on a couch I never noticed before, snoring loudly.

"This may be our last chance so I'll warn you now. This spell will take a lot out of you. It could very well kill you. But no matter what, you cannot stop the spell until the bond is broken. We have to trap them in this room and cast the spell while they are all together, myself included. If even one of us is missing, the spell won't work. You have to draw the dark magic out of us, breaking the very thing holding us together. The spell draws out the dark magic, sending into the Earth. The Earth is pure so it will destroy the dark magic. You cannot lose control. Do you understand?"

I bobbed my head violently as worry lines began to crease my forehead.

"I'm going to sleep now. Wake me up if anything happens," she said, before going down to the bed I had slept in.

I walked over, sitting at the chair she was perched in, looking out the glass eye that was in front of it. I could see the open field we had come from clearly, able to foresee any intruders far before they found us.

I sat there for hours periodically looking out the eye to check to see if we were still safe. Nothing out of the ordinary. My mind kept drifting back to Zion. I fought the urge to jump in his head knowing I wouldn't be able to face him after what I'd done. Tears stung my eyes at the thought of me never seeing him again. I shook my head, causing them to dry in my eyes. I had to focus on breaking the Five. That was the most important thing now.

I saw Edward slowly begin to quiet down, rustling about before he opened his eyes. He smiled once he noticed me, straightening up to get a good look at me.

"Morning daughter," he said, cheerily.

I snorted at his enthusiasm despite the circumstances. Suddenly, I felt a cold, creeping feeling of unease wash over me. I'd felt that feeling before. I jerked forward, shoving my eye against the glass eye as I moved it around with shaky fingers. That's when I saw him. It was so fast, I almost missed him. I saw him dart past my view, out of reach in less than a half a second.

"Liam's here," I announced, eyes wide in panic.

"Bay! It's time," roared Edward as he flicked the huge table aside easily, letting it crash into the wall and crumble to pieces.

I rushed over to fling the door open as she came flying out.

"You remember what you have to do?!" she said, grabbing my arm roughly, with desperation in her eyes.

"Yes."

She got to work, chanting a spell as she circled the corners of the room, dropping powder around the entirety of it. Once she was done, she opened up the chamber underneath the ground, ordering me and Edward to go inside.

"What? Why? What about yo-"

"Do not come out until all of us are inside of the room. As soon as you come out, begin chanting the spell before any of us escape the circle. We can't leave once the spell is cast." She pushed us both inside before we could respond.

Standing in the cramped room in complete silence, I nervously asked, "Do you think it'll work?"

"It has to," he replied sternly.

I looked around in efforts to distract myself from worrying. Noticing a small window at the end of the room that had been covered perfectly with a curtain I offered, "You should escape while you have the chance."

He jerked his head at me in shock before grabbing my chin between his chin and forefinger. "I will never abandon you again."

My heart swole in my chest at his response. A smile began to crawl on my face as I looked at him, beaming. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, bringing me in an embrace. I closed my eyes, enjoying the moment with my father before I heard a crash as two sets of footsteps entered the room.

"Where is she?" Liam's familiar, cold voice snarled at Bay.

"Don't you want to know where I've been?" Bay asked, innocently.

"Cut the act Bay. We know you're up to something," sneered an unfamiliar male voice.

"Oh how I've missed you Caesar," replied Bay, sweetly.

I heard the sound of more footsteps tumbling in before I heard someone pummeling into the wall with a boom.

"You BITCH! You sided with a hybrid over us?!" screamed a female voice. From the anger in her tone, I put together that she had just slammed Bay into the wall.

"Sarav, I'd side with anyone over you," Bay shot back, snorting.

"I never trusted her to begin with," remarked a male voice, knowingly. Recognizing the last unknown voice as the last member, Sam, I stepped forward to emerge from the bunker to begin the spell. Edward grabbed my hand, stopping me. I turned around to see his eyes welling up with tears. I squeezed his hand comfortably before whispering, "I have to do this."

I let go of his hand, raising up my foot to kick down the door. I channeled my strength into my foot before bringing it crashing down on the door. It went flying through the room, hitting Sarav in the face.

"You little bitc-" started Sarav, leaping towards me.

"Dearis senteu animalur," I began to chant, loudly as I raised my arms, reaching out to air surrounding me for power as I felt magic begin to course through my body. Edward walked behind me, grinning.

Liam's normally expressionless place turned into one of panic as he attempted to dart out of the circle. He slammed into the edge of the barrier, trapped inside as the circle lit up with fire.

"Dearis senteu animalur," I continued, stepping closer to the circle, eyes closed while I fought with myself to keep control as I could feel every nerve in my body jumping, begging to lose control.

"You foolish girl. Don't you know you'll die?" Sam spat at me, cackling to hide his fear.

"Don't you care for her at all?" Sam asked, turning to Edward, making him doubt himself as a father. I grabbed Edward's hand squeezing it, giving him the reassurance he needed.

"Dearis senteu animalur," I chanted, my body trembling from the immense power that was building up inside of me. It felt terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. I opened my eyes, noticing a dark essence start to float out of each of the Five's bodies. They dropped to the ground, one by one screaming in pain.

Ignoring their cries for help, I continued, "Dearis senteu animalur. Dearis senteu animalur. Dearis senteu animalur."

I heard a rumble, ignoring it thinking it was an effect of the spell as I continued louder, "Dearis senteu animalur. Dearis senteu animalur. Dearis senteu animalur."

Edward leaped in front of me, shielding me as stone went flying through the air. He released his tar black wings, bringing them around us protectively to shield us from whatever was coming. I heard a thunderous roar as I turned to notice Zion enter the room. He was equally gorgeous in his wolf form as he was in his human form. Refusing to stop, I kept chanting as tears streamed down my face at the site of him. I looked at his beautiful, green eyes and could see him pleading with me to stop. I tore my eyes away from him, looking at the Five who were all on the ground, groaning with pain. I saw red as I felt blood stream down my face. The magic pulsing within me was too strong. It was starting to overcome me. I could feel my spirit weakening but I refused to stop.

"SARON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" shrieked Star, running in with Tom, Joel, and Jeremy close on her heel. They all looked terrified as they looked from me to Edward to the Five.

I maintained my gaze at the Circle, determined not to break focus as I continued to chant, "Dearis senteu animalur. Dearis senteu animalur."

Zion shifted back to his human form, rushing towards me in efforts to stop me. Edward whacked him with his wing, sending him flying through the air, crashing against the stone wall. Zion's eyes turned red in anger as he advanced once more. Edward leapt forward, not allowing Zion to approach as he blocked all his attacks, effortlessly. I saw Tom leap forward to attack Edward in Zion's name and I raised my hand up in his direction, stopping him in his tracks. He struggled to move but was frozen by my magic. I saw Jeremy step forward as well, to which I waved my hand paralyzing him as well as he stared at me in shock. I eyed Joel and Star, daring them to attack at their own risk. The fear in their eyes assured me they wouldn't as I refocused on the Five.

I felt blood start dripping from my ears as my vision blurred. I started to yell, realizing I was fading, committed to giving it my all, "Dearis senteu animalur."

I chanted three more times, as I watched the last of the dark magic separate from the bodies of the Five. I looked up at the dark magic swirling in the air above me. I raised my arms, ready to bring it down forcing the dark magic into the Earth. I prepared to drop my arms when I suddenly froze.

"Saaaron."

I cocked my head, confused as I turned around to see who had whispered my name.

"Saaaron," it whispered again.

I looked up, feeling the dark magic pull at me. Taken by it's enticing sound, I reached out towards it, inviting it in.

"SARON, NO!" yelled my father, realizing what was happening. He lunged towards me and I instinctively waved my hand in the air, throwing him far away from me.

The dark magic came swirling at me and I stepped forward, nearing as I let it control me.

With a whoosh, I felt Edward ram into me, sending me flying into the stone. Unable to stay conscious any longer, I felt myself fade into the darkness.

I opened my eyes, seeing a figure running towards me. I focused my vision recognizing the slender figure of my mother, running towards me with her arms outstretched.

I sprinted towards her purposefully, rushing to meet her in the middle. She sang out to me as each stride brought her closer to me.

I leaped into her arms once we met, tears streaming down my face as I was caught in her embrace.

"It's over now Saron," she hushed me stroking my hair as she cradled me as she did when I was a child.

"Mother, where's father?"

"Your father is gone."

"FATHER!" I awoke screaming as I whirled around to find myself back in the Infirmary with Zion by my side.

"Saron!" he yelled, reaching out to grab me. He cupped my face planting a kiss on my forehead before stepping back to let me get a good look at him. His eyes were sunken with dark circles and he looked as if he had lost weight. He looked awful. His eyes filled up with tears at the sight of me as did mine.

Overcome by emotion by the sight of him, I reached out to touch his face. He flinched, causing me to retract my arm in surprise.

"Zion-," I started to explain as I began to remember why he was upset.

"I'm sorry Zion. I didn't want to hurt you but I had no choice. I didn't want you to get hurt," I apologized with tears filling up in my eyes.

"You didn't want me to get hurt? So you decided to sacrifice yourself instead?" he spat back at me, eyes fiery with rage.

"I knew you'd never let me leave and you'd kill yourself trying to save me."

"Of course I wouldn't let you kill yourself. But you didn't think of anyone but yourself."

"How can you say that to me?! I did this for you and for the others. We would have never beat the Five," I yelled back, as his words slapped me across the face with a stinging blow.

"I would rather die trying than lose you," he admitted, voice breaking as he tore his eyes away from me.

"I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt you," I said as my eyes softened.

"You can't ever do that to me again. I can't lose you Saron," he said, unrelenting.

"I won't. I promise," I said reaching out to him. He pulled me into his lap, wrapping his arms around me tightly causing my body to buzz with electricity. I couldn't hold back any longer as tears went streaming down my face. I had missed him so much. I thought I would never see him again. Our magic coursed through each other and we sat there entangled in one another for a long moment in silence. Everything was right when we were together. In his arms, it was perfect. Ruining the moment, I pushed back to face him unable to ignore the sinking feeling I felt in my stomach any longer.

"Where's Edward?"

Avoiding my gaze, he grabbed my hands running his fingers over the back of my palm.
