Little Box

(everyone shut up, I can hear those comments rapping)

"General Eastern England?" the previous general spoke softly, causing Alice's lip to quiver as she quietly sips her tea, "I have a message for you that had been deployed to all capital-bearing generals," he hands her the envelope, which she takes with a tired stare.

The man chuckles, "It's weird, isn't it? I feel like I'm 20-something," he laughs, "doing work and whatnot for a fandom army," he glanced up, "our fandom army."

"Yes, certainly the most bloody-stupid war we've ever done," Alice huffed, "I'd prefer our days of UsUk vs. FrUk any day."

"Careful what you wish for," the general man chuckles as Alice cuts open the envelope, recognizing the messy scrawls and tattered English from the Slavik generals. She was used to it now and didn't cringe at their poor attempts at their language.

And so, she read...

'Dear General Eastern England,

I am knowing that you have had a lost with little sister, Amelia, correct? Unfortunately, there had been other lost of general here in Slaviks. General Western Russia is been kidnapped in range battle to Baltic Sea.

Remain Focused,

General Eastern Lithuania'

...Okay, the first thing she struggled over, was the atrocious English, but besides that. General Western Russia had been kidnapped in a battle, yet, thankfully, there had been no casualties on both sides.

"General," Alice inquired, not looking away from the letter, "remind me which general is Western Russia."

"Western Russia?" he tilted his head, "Are you talking about Anya West Rush?"

Her face dawned with realization at the nickname, "Zapad Poryv?" her British accent mixed with the Russian words, "My first time hearing the nickname in English."

"So that's the name in Russian? Wow," the general smiled, "Why did you want to know? Did West Rush send you the letter?"

"No," Alice's face dimmed, "the capital-bearing Lithuanian did."

"Tori? What for?" he asked.

He watched her face crumple a little as she whispered, "She said that," chokes up a little, "Anya's gone, too."

The general's face paled, his earlier happier demeanor flying out the window.

Yesterday...

This news was all over the Hetalia coms and whatnot, the regular citizens of the world still unsure of what's going on. Alice had crumbled down to her desk wondering why she listened to Amelia about joining this war? They were all Hetalian, but when they caught wind of this, not even the Swiss Hetalians stayed out of it. They should've stayed out of this war, out of this fandom. They should've not even found the fandom to begin with, either.

"If it weren't for Hetalia, none of this would've happened," Alice silently cried, "Amelia wouldn't have been gone. I wouldn't have gone to England. Anya would've been safe and none...of this...would've happened."

"I wouldn't be so sure about that, comrade," a crinkling voice hoarsely spoke, filling her office.

Alice's bowed head snapped to the little black recording box on her desk that was used to communicate with America and the rest earlier. It never did anything after the message, even though Alice tinkered with it to try to hear Amelia's voice again. But there it was. Speaking.

"Wait," she grabbed the box and pulled it up to her face, her eyes tearing up a little, but not yet, "Who is this, how are you doing this?"

"C-" static filtered back and forth within their voice, "Calm down, comrade," a distorted chuckle was barely heard, "We're in London! Somewhere under the-" screaming, a deafening cracking sound, but it wasn't from an object, "Dang, these 2ps are eggshells!" Alice crumbled down from her seat in utter relief.

"O-Okay, who is this? Y-You say 'we', is there someone else with you...!?" Alice's voice rose, speaking fast.

"G-General Western Russia, Hetalian General, posted in Moscow, Russia," a cough, "Well, in London, right now. Look, I dunno who this is, but I'm hacking something. I have a near-dead looking hostage from the 2ps, but they're kinda unidentified...I can't tell who it is," some more fighting and a Russian laugh, "Wow, they're really light. I can't believe I got kidnapped for this!"

"You what!?" Alice yelped.

"Yeah, don't tell Gen. East Liet, she'd kill me," another laugh.

That had to be the clearest she's heard the voice, Anya, apparently, because Alice was hanging on every word, "A-Alright," she spoke with more confidence, "You've reached General Eastern England, Hetalian General, posted in your area," she spoke fast again, "WHERE YOU GUYS UNDERNEATH?"

Anya's voice perked up, but then cussed in Russian, "Y****t, Palace of-" a gunshot. The static took over.

The box fell out of her hand along with her tears.
