Chapter 9
"You know....your quite a beauty" Damian whispered his hands lightly brushing across Claire's cheek. The minor held her breath her hands tightly gripping the rail behind her.
"Don't touch me" she whispered squeezing her eyes shut. The God laughed removing his hand. He had other things in store for her. If he wanted her to trust him to offer her blessing he needed to act....kind.
"I have other plans. I've...heard of your little crush on my nephew" Claire couldn't help but growl. Her eyebrows knitted together as she stared at the God with hatred.
"If you have come to embarrass me leave" she felt a sharp sting in her heart. She isn't supposed to feel this kind of emotion. Hatred...it isn't in her nature but she couldn't help it. "I've had enough humiliation to last me a life time" she hissed at him gripping her chest tightly. Damian hid a smirk as he stepped closer.
"Aren't you the Goddess of light? Showing hatred I thought you were 'pure" she glared at him turning her body around so she was now gripping the railing behind her for support.
"Pure or not you must leave. If Lucifer finds you here he'd kill me-" she choked on her breath. Quickly using he hand to cover her mouth she fell to her knees. She started coughing it only got louder and louder the closer he came to her.
She felt a liquid dripping down her hand. Frightened she glanced at her hand and screamed dropping backwards. If it wasn't for Damian standing behind her she would have fallen head first to the ground.
Blood...she thought staring at her hand in horror. The yellowish liquid streamed down her hand making its way unto her pure white gown. She quickly turned to Damian backing way form him still on the ground.
"Me? What have you done to me?" Her voice barely above a whisper. The God knowing it was his fault took a step backwards giving her some space. He didn't want her to faint now did he.
"I'm truly sorry. It seems my presence isn't sitting to well with your.....light" the word felt like a knife stabbing him in the throat "It's seems we don't have much time. I'm not here to hurt you. If I wanted to trust me you would be already. I'm simply here to offer you something" she looked up at him through her eyelashes.
What could he possibly have that I want? She asked herself scuffing. Again her coughing fit returned. Damian felt a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. Did he feel sorry for her?
"Piros is looking for a companion. I was thinking you would be a good match" the goddess growled pulling herself up. With a strained voice she answered.
"After a the embarrassment he's caused me never" she hissed ignoring the burning sensation that built up in her chest.
"Suit yourself" he started taking a step closer "just remember. My domain is right outside this house I'm sure you'll reconsider once you've had enough of Lucifer's games. Then again it is your choice. Farewell" his body was submerged by a black cloud then he was gone.
Claire felt her chest loosen. The pain had subsided, she couldn't help but think. Why would he want her?
Paige grunted pulling herself back up. Trevor shook his head easily blocking her attack. She pulled her hand back forming a fist. As she was about to hit the minotaur caught her fists twisting it until he heard a satisfying crack.
The Goddess howled in pain. She used her free hand to punch him in the stomach forcing him to let go of her. She stumbled backwards her hand bruised. Trevor again shook his head taking up her fallen sword.
He threw it towards her disappointed " If you think you stand a chance against your brother your sadly mistaken. Piros is unstable he can snap at any given moment. There no way you can predict what he's going to do next. If you can't even last two minutes with me imagine him" Paige scuffed taking up her weapon.
Concentrating on the floor beneath him she smiled to herself. The earth shook as a large hand reach out and pulled Trevor to the ground absorbing him. She didn't want to hurt him so she left his head out while the rest of his body remained submerged.
"I don't need physical strength. We have powers for a reason" she hissed at him her eyes staring into his.
"That's your problem" he paused using his strength to free himself. His body vibrated shaking the earth beneath his feet. Paige fell backwards unable to keep herself upright. After a few seconds Trevor had is successfully freed himself form her grasp. With his body covered in dirt he continued "you only rely on your powers"
She averted her eyes to the large hole where Trevor had just crawled out of. How? She wondered. How could a being like him possessing no magic or power whatsoever pull that off? Surly his strength alone couldn't have helped him...could it?
"You are fighting against the royal court. You may have all that power but for what? Fighting without cause is void. Tell me Paige. What are you fighting for?" Paige tightened her grip on her weapon.
He doesn't understand she thought preparing to hit. She charged aimlessly thrashing her sword around just trying to hit him. Each time her weapon came close to him he just blocked.
"I haven't gotten an answer yet" Trevor stated blocking another on of her attacks. Paige became irritated. Why isn't it working? Another hit. Block. Hit block. This went on for a while until Trevor tried something new.
Instead of blocking her attack he allowed her to hit him. She pulled back her hands again but by the time she looked back he was gone. Confused she looked around for her opponent. Boom! The Goddess was sent flying backwards by a powerful gush of wind.
"You are fighting blindly. That was a warm up. Tomorrow your real training starts" Paige gulped pulling herself up. Her braids were undone her clothes dirty. It had only been twenty minutes she thought balling her fists.
She felt embarrassed. The princess losing to a beast. What have I become?....
