Chapter 5
Sorry for the mistakes!
Kate took a step backwards as she witness the scene before her unfold. Lawrence had left her on the call of his master. She was alone with...him.
Piros stared at her with a doll like expression. He still had that sadistic smile planted on his face. He held the head of her husband in one hand along with a sword in the other. She took another step back refusing to believe what she saw was true.
She knew of his tricks. She knew how the God of deception could manipulate anyone's mind into thinking what he wanted them to think. But she was still scared. What if it wasn't a trick.
"You came" he cheered with his childish voice. He dropped the head and weapon clapping his hands wildly. He looked like a child in a candy store. He arched his neck to the right looking confused.
"Mommy? Why isn't she playing with me?" Kate's breath hitched as queen Sofia stepped out of the shadows her face holding the same doll like expression. Her pupils were almost invisible. Her lips were forced apart by a bloody silver nail. Her expression remained blank. With her unblinking eyes she also tilted her head in the same direction.
"I don't know honey" it was then she realized the stings attached to the Queens joints. She was like a marionette doll. Piros frowned bending down to take up the sword. His voice remained childish as he spoke.
"I don't like when kids don't play with me" he paused looking down at the sword until his that sadistic smile returned. He held it dangerously close to the Queens neck.
"If you don't play with me, I'll just have to force you to" Kate froze as the sword he held was sent flying in her direction. It missed her face by inches. She then noticed it to be the Queens sword.
Queen Sofia lazily made her way towards Kate who was still frozen in her spot. She saw as someone tugged on the string lifting the Queens hand. The same person pulled another string to adjust the Queens head.
"Why so serious?" As the words left the Queens lips Kate let out an ear piercing scream. A cold metal pierced her side. She felt a gold metallic liquid seep from the wound. It trickled down here side making its way down her legs. The liquid stained her cream colored toga.
"Mommy does that mean she'll play with me?" Piros questioned his mother. With another tug of a string the queen shrugged.
"I hope so honey. But for now let's go watch the slaves burn" Kate fell to her knees. Every muscle of her being was aching. She had be poisoned. Anger spiked inside her. She could have stopped him but she froze.
Before she lost consciousness she took the last of her strength to send a message to her husband praying what she saw earlier was just an illusion.
I'm sorry was her last thought before nothing. Her unconscious body was picked up by blind bloods and carried to the dungeon where all the other captured immortals stayed. She had been free and was captured again this time at her own home.
Joseph pushed his legs faster. His muscles ached for him to stop but he didn't. He wasn't going to lose her again. Paige turned the corner quickly. She didn't want him to remember her. She needed him to forget everything about her.
It was true she had developed feeling for him though she would never admit it she cared about him. But she has a kingdom to run. Once her brother and uncle are captured they will be put to trial and then she will be crowned queen.
Joseph turned the corner as well now pushing him self further. He didn't know he cared this much. He just thought of her has a friend. He's a player not a lover. Why does he feel this way?
Paige stopped sharply turning around to face him. Joseph noticed this but it was too late. He couldn't stop himself in time. His tall frame crashed into hers sending them both downwards. He switched his position so he would hit the ground first. Thud!
Pain spread through his entire body. With a grunt he looked up into her mesmerizing violet eyes. He felt his stomach summer sault. He had finally got her. His body itched for hers. As she laid unto of him he couldn't help but feel complete.
The Goddess quickly gathered her thoughts. Oh no! She thought pushing herself away form him. She's only been on earth for two days and she's already developing feelings for a mortal. She fell backwards onto the ground with a thud! Joseph quickly jumped up rushing to her side.
"Are you okay?" He asked his voice laced with worry. Out of shock and reflexes Paige kneed him in the jewels quickly getting up. She used her feet to trip him causing him to fall flat on his face.
Once she realized what she had done she felt a wave of panic. She just killed someone! Her thoughts were scattered but she soon recollected her self when she heard him grunt.
"Why don't I just stay here. The ground seems to love me" he muttered to himself. Paige unconsciously placed her hands over her mouth.
"Oh my Gods! I am so sorry" she apologized helping him up with ease. Once he was standing on his own he brushed of his tailored to fit black blazer. He looked up at her his blue eyes held so many emotions.
"God your beautiful" he muttered to himself. She felt her cheeks heat up at his statements. Once he realized was he said he quickly corrected himself.
"I mean...you weren't supposed to hear that" he gushed. Paige couldn't help but laugh at him. He his face was bright red. He's blushing how adorable she thought still staring at him.
"You aren't supposed to be here. It's not safe" Paige said frowning to herself. She felt a powerful presence near by and she knew exactly who it was. Raymond. He probably found the chosen before her. He's come to brag again she thought mentally scuffing.
"Why not? Is it something is said" she shook her head. She couldn't bear to look at him. She had to leave him. Feeling or not she had more important things to worry about.
"No its me. I'm not someone you want to talk to. I'm dangerous and I don't want you getting hurt. Just forget about me you different form me" she whispered a stray tear rolling down her cheek. She felt a hand on her shoulder.
Both of them stood in silence. In an dark alley way the Goddess of nature and spirits stood with a mortal. The one she cared for. Raymond couldn't help but smirk. He had formed a plan. A way to get the princess to give her self up.
"I doesn't matter. I know.......I know about you. I know you aren't mortal. I know the people in that room not all of them are mortal. I know you know my father. I know about you guest. I know why your hear......I'm not afraid. You didn't choose to be like this. Every night I lay in my bed thinking of the seven year old who lit up my day. I know this because.....I'm the chosen"
