Interlude 3: The Almanac
Note:
This chapter contains heavy info-dump regarding the world of Terra in the MW universe, but it is recommended to read it so you can understand some of the stuff that would appear in MW2 and MW3.
And for the meme above, yeah - It would've been cooler to see the original MW characters but as Terran races. Imagine Price as an Aslan or Soap as a Vouivre.

Rhodes Island landship
It's another usual afternoon in Rhodes Island.
At the top of the landship, Dylan is sitting down on a chair with a can of beer in his hands, watching the afternoon sky. He let out a bored sigh before chugging down the can of beer and put it on the table.
It has been two days after he and the others watched the MW universe, though the first one per say, with them agreeing to watch it again the next week. Seeing where the landship is headed, they might aswell be reaching Lungmen.
Despite that, Dylan already find himself so bored and there's currently no field missions he can carry out.
"Hey, Dylan. He hears someone greeting him before turning to the direction. It was none other than Noir Corne.
"Oh, hey Noir." Dylan greeted back with a wave.
"I'm surprised to see you up here by yourself." Noir said, stopping beside the table.
"That goes the same for you." Dylan remarked as he answers, "I'm just feeling a little bored, that's all. I mean, we currently don't have any field missions to do, and I'm not sure what else i should do in the landship."
"So your solution is sitting up here watching the boring barrenlands?" Noir quipped.
"Atleast I get to see the outside."
Noir chuckled before saying, "You wanted to see the sequel of that MW universe, don't you?"
Dylan let out a sigh. Noir really knows him and his friends too well. "Yeah. I got hooked with the story and I really want to see the second part so bad!"
"It's only been three days, man." Noir reminded.
"Three days too long!" Dylan retorted. "Can't we just give permission to Closure on borrowing the tape and watch it ourselves? It'll only take like a few hours to finish the whole thing."
"As much as I want to, we can't really do that, Dylan. Unless it's about rewatching the first MW movie to those that missed it." Noir explained.
"I am not fond of it." Dylan said, crossing his arms.
"Hey, man. We all are as curious as you are with this modern warfare universe. But just be a little patient, alright? Like carefully landing the 'Bad Guy' type of patient."
Dylan sighed, "I guess you're right." He then took another sip on his beer before realizing it ran out.
Noir noticed it and asked, "You want me to get another one for ya?"
"No thanks, I can get it." Dylan decline the offer as he got up from his seat, heading down to the landship. Just as he was walking, he suddenly tripped on something and fell to his knees, letting out a curse.
"Woah, you alright there?" Noir said, getting up from his seat to check on Dylan.
"Yeah, I'm good." Dylan replied while adjusting himself before standing back up. "The hell did I even trip on?"
The two operators then turned to the object that made Dylan tripped. They were left puzzled when the object looked to be some sort of book.
"Is that a book? How the hell did it get here?" Dylan wondered.
"It wasn't there when you were here?" Noir asked.
"Dude...who the hell would leave a book on top of the landship?"
"Just asking." He shrugged then said, "Wanna see what it is?"
"Don't have to tell me." Dylan said, kneeling down and picked up the almanac, albeit heavier than usual. Dusting some of the dirt off, he observed the cover of the book. His eyes went wide afterwards.
"No way." He exclaimed, getting Noir's attention.
"What? What is it?" Noir moved beside him as Dylan showed him the cover of the big book. He gave a suprised look under the mask, "No way..."
"That's what I'm saying! What is this even doing here?"
"I don't care, but we should show this to the others. Whoever left it here must've expected us to read the whole thing." Noir said
Dylan agreed with a thumbs up. "I'm with you on that, man. Give me a sec to pack up my stuff first."
"Right, let me help you with it." After Dylan and Noir pack up the stuff, they went back into the landship to report the others of their discovery.
Their day just got more interesting.

Rhodes Island Library
Amiya and Doctor had just entered the library of the landship. When they were busy doing their work, Blaze called them from their comm device and informed that she and some of the operators found something that is related to the MW universe tape.
Feeling curious, the two set off to the library where Blaze and the others were located, not before sorting out their paper work first.
They had thought of bringing Kal'tsit with them, but the woman still has lots of stuff to do, so they leave her be.
"I never thought they would find something that referenced the MW universe." Doctor said as they walk around the library to find Blaze and the rest.
"From what she said, Dylan found it laying around the top of the landship." Amiya recalled with a questioning expression. "But how is that even possible? "
"Maybe Nian was there?" Doctor speculates.
Amiya shook her head. "No, Dylan said Nian wasn't there and he didn't see the book at first before he tripped on it."
"So...it magically appeared?" Amiya nodded, making the Doctor even more confused.
Deciding not to think of more questions, they continued to make their way in the library until they saw a group of operators that were gathered by a table.
There were 11 operators present, those being; Blaze, Greythroat, Noir Corne, Yato, Dylan, Ch'en, Bagpipe, Hoshiguma, Spot and Catapult.
All of them had their eyes on the book with Dylan by the center, opening the pages. Noir, Yato, Ch'en, and Bagpipe were sitting beside while the rest stood up and overlooking the book at the table.
Blaze shift her eyes towards the two. "There you two are!" She said, causing the rest to do the same.
"Hello, everyone." Amiya greeted them all. "We came here as soon as possible."
"Blaze said you have something that is about the Modern Warfare universe." Doctor said.
"We sure have, Doc. It's this book here." Dylan showed the two of the large book they all were reading.
Amiya and the Doctor observed that the cover of the book was titled "Alternate World of Terra Almanac: Modern Warfare Universe" . The background for the cover resembles a soldier wearing desert gear while traversing through the sands with his rifle in hand.
"Interesting." Doctor remarked, putting a hand on their jawline under the hood. "So what's inside the book?"
"Everything related to the Modern Warfare universe we watched. The first one atleast." Noir answered.
"And when we say everything, we mean it." Ch'en chimed in. "This almanac contains lots of information in the Modern Warfare universe."
"Does it include the characters?" Amiya asked.
"Definitely the characters." Bagpipe answered. "There's even a section for it in this almanac!"
"There are a lot of sections in this almanac, but we just went straight to the characters." Blaze said.
"Which we shouldn't have started with first." Greythroat chimed in, aiming a frown at the feline. "There was literally a section where it tells us the background and possibly some of the history of this world."
"Eh, I find those boring." Blaze replied.
"Maybe for you, but this is a whole alternate world we're talking about." Ch'en said, "There should be events that differs from the real world."
Bagpipe agreed with a nod, "Yeah, like the Second Global War that Chenchen mentioned in that sniper stealth mission."
"Oh yeah, the second global war, I've been interested in that since its mention." Doctor said.
"Most of us do." Hoshiguma replied, getting some nods.
"This is a world where everyone can use guns and has no originium nor oripathy infections and catasthrophes plauging the land, so we may expect major changes." Spot chimed in.
Blaze seems to look like she has changed her mind, "Well now that you mentioned it, I guess I'm also interested."
"Alright, that means we're starting to the beginning." Dylan said before starting the book to the beginning.
Before that, Catapult turned to Amiya. "Hey, Amiya. Why won't you do the honors of opening the almanac this time?"
Noir Corne seems to agree with the idea. "Good idea. You can trade in my seat and Dylan's."
"Aww come on, why?" Dylan protested with it.
"Hey, the two are the main leaders of Rhodes Island. They deserve the privileges."
Dylan grumbled before getting up and place the almanac back on the table with Noir corne doing the same.
Amiya let out a amused chuckle before she and the Doctor went and sat down on the chairs, the former sitting infront of the almanac. Grabbing the heavy almanac, Amiya begin to flip to the first page which contained the same title but in paper.
She flip to the next page and it contain some interesting notes for the operators. It says;
Dear fellow Rhodes Island operators,
If you all are reading this, then congrats, you've found this book! Although I have teleported it somewhere in the landship. Anyways, I know you hopefully have all seen the first installment of the modern warfare universe and most likely enjoyed it too, and it leaves you all thinking, what is more to this alternate Terra?
Well, this almanac here will tell you all about the alternate world of Terra from the characters to the nations itself, and even all the wars and conflicts that happened during the mw universe, whether in the movie or mentioned.
Just to remind you, that the almanac is actually in a work in progress, so I apologize if you're anticpating for more. But do not fret, I am currently updating this almanac the same time you guys are reading it.
How is that possible, you may ask? Hehehe...you'll know when you encounter me.
Anyways, have fun reading!
-- D
"D?" Amiya raised an eyebrow. "That's a strange name."
"We thought it must be their codename." Greythroat assumed.
"It's still an odd name for a codename." Yato said.
"I guess we all know how Nian got her hands on that MW tape." Spot replied.
"Forget the name, how about how they're the reason the almanac was at the top of the landship in the first place." Noir pointed out. "It was literally teleported."
"Which is how I stumbled upon it and almost fell from it too." Dylan replied.
"Do they have some kind of unique arts to do such a thing?" Doctor wondered at the thought of how this 'D' person manage to teleport the almanac to the landship from wherever they are.
"Well we are referring to the person that somehow made that MW universe with all of us in it." Catapult said.
"And apparently they can also update this almanac even when they're not here. How is that even possible?" Hoshiguma wondered.
"It feels like straight up magic." The Kuranta sniper replied.
"Well we can get to all of those later." Blaze said, wanting to read the whole almanac for the first MW universe. So she leaned in and move to the next page.
It then shows the list of contents that are in this almanac, in which Amiya noticed there are bookmarks for them.
- Background
- Continents
- Countries
- Wars & Conflicts
- Factions
- Characters
"There's six of them?" Doctor said.
"Yeah. We could've read them all, but Blaze went straight to the characters." Greythroat replied, glancing at the feline.
"Again, I was curious." Blaze rolled her eyes.
"What should we start on first?" Bagpipe asked.
"Obviously the first one, being the Background content." Ch'en suggested.
"Seems fair." Amiya said before she flip to the next page.
I. Background
It's the year 2011. The world of Terra has not seen brighter days. It is a pivotal period of the 21st century marked by significant global events, socio-political upheavals, economic challenges, and advancements in technology.
The world had hoped for peace after the events caused from the cold war between Great Yan and the Ursus Empire, but they were too naive to think of it.
In the Ursus Federation, a civil war has struck the nation from hardline ultranationalists that wanted to restore Ursus' glory against the government soldiers that had remained loyal to their system.
And In Sargon, a nation fell from a coup de'tat and disrupted the peace of the continent. Great Yan, who had maintained close relations with some of the countries in Sargon, had labeled the rogue nation as a threat to peace.
Heroes from Rhodes Island and Yanese marines tried their best to restore the peace, even if it costs more deaths and destruction.
"2011? That's like a thousand years in the future." Catapult said in awe.
"I expected technology to be really advanced after that long." Noir commented.
"Sci-Fi tends to overexaggerate the time periods, but I gotta agree on that." Spot said in a confused matter.
"They probably don't have the technology to extend that far off." Doctor speculated, thinking if Columbia is also less advanced in the universe.
Meanwhile, other operators like Ch'en focused on something else. "The Cold war? I don't think I've heard it in the MW universe movie."
"Neither do I." Bagpipe replied, "But if it is in there, it had to be important."
Hoshiguma chimes in, "Yeah, kind of like the First Global War that would possibly be in this almanac."
"The content for Wars & conflicts are at the fourth section, we'll get there soon." Amiya said as she switches to the next section, the continents.
ii. Continents
A planet cannot be a planet if it does not have continents. This alternate Terra is filled with a number of continents of different shapes and sizes. Said continents are based on the borders of the original Terran nations.
With those continents, they housed dozens of nations that're in the Terran world. Here are all the continents in this alternate world with the nations that resided in them:
A) Vorisia
- Ursus Federation
- Republic of Luscinia
- Republic of Kazimierz
- Kingdom of Sami
- Republic of Chrysae
- Republic of Lefkorosia
B) Sinoa
- Great Yan
- Kingdom of Higashi
C) Uropa
- Kingdom of Victoria
- Federal Republic of Leithanien
- Republic of Siracusa
- Laterano
- Republic of Tara
- Kjerag
- Siesta
D) Espania
- Kingdom of Iberia
- Republic of Cataluna
- Republic of Lammergeier
E) Sargonia (Sargon)
- Acahualla
- Bayalir
- Ibut
- Kingdom of Minos
- Federation of West Sargon
- Saudian Kingdom
- Republic of Arsaces
- Kingdom of Inamo
- Cartago
F) Osea
- Columbian Union
- Republic of Bolivar
- Tocororan Republic
- United Rico Islands
G) Vasa
- Rim Billiton
- Guinean Republic
H) Daimon ("The Holy Land")
- Kazdel (Fractured)
"Those are a lot of countries." Noir remarked.
"Seems like there's more fictional countries than Luscinia." Ch'en commented.
"It is to be expected." Hoshiguma replied, "I wonder what they mean though?"
"Whatever it is, I kind of like the name of the Osea continent." Dylan said before muttering, "Why does it sound familiar though?"
"Well Uropa sounds weird where Victoria resides." Bagpipe says with an unsatisfied look.
"I think it is pronounced 'You-ropa' and not 'ooo-ropa'." Spot replied.
"Still weird." Bagpipe then noticed something. "Hang on, Tara is independent?"
"Oh yeah, I haven't noticed that." Ch'en said. "I guess they came back from the dead."
"Well, Gaul is still ceased to exist by the looks of it" Greythroat pointed out. "Those poor gauls."
"Did this D guy really name Kazdel's continent 'the Holy land?'" Blaze said with a little snicker. "What's so holy when the nation is fractured and unstable?"
"Whatever his reason, I'm surprised that Kazdel is in its own continent." Doctor commented, "Though it kind of looks smaller than the rest."
"I'm surprised that Sargon is not a country in this universe." Spot said. "I mean, West Sargon exists for some reason, but by the name, I doubt they occupy the entire continent of Sargon."
"If that is the case, what country did the Yanese marines fought in?" Blaze wondered.
"Only one way to find out." Before Amiya went to the next page, she took a glance at the name of the continent of her home country.
'Vasa. Nice name.' She thoughted before going to the next page. The Countries.
iii. Countries
The alternate Terra is filled with dozens of nations residing from each continent. Of course like in the content before, this alternate world has even more nations than the ones in real life. I made some of them myself :)
However, this content will not explain ALL of the nations, because that's gonna waste my time and also you readers. So, this content will only explain the countries that played their role in MW1, or atleast mentioned.
"That makes sense, I guess." Ch'en said.
"I can understand what he means, though." Hoshiguma replied.
"Bummer, I was expecting to learn more of these made up nations this D person made." Blaze remarked with a dissappointed frown.
Amiya went to the next page where it starts with Ursus. It shows the description of the country while having an image of its territory.
"Ursus Federation"
The Ursus Federation is a nation located on the northern continent of Vorisia, bordered by various other countries, including Luscinia and Sami. It is the largest country in all of Terra in this universe, with a population of 132 million as of 2011.
The capital city is Deity Grypherburg, Grypherburg for short.
The Ursus Federation was established after the Cold War, following the collapse of the Ursus Empire, which resulted in several territories becoming newly independent nations.
While Ursus maintains good relations with some of its neighboring countries, others, such as Kazimierz, still harbor historical grudges.
Despite these strained relationships, the Ursus Federation has continued to develop strong international ties, notably with Great Yan, the country that defeated them in the Cold War.
Ursus maintains a formidable military force, considered the second most powerful in the world, surpassed only by Great Yan.
"So, the Ursus Empire dissolved in this universe?" the Doctor remarked.
"It does make sense, given how Luscinia and the other fictional countries existed within Ursus' borders," Amiya said. "But it looks like they are still the second most powerful military in the world."
"I can see why the world was concerned about the civil war in the country and should those Reunion forces win the war." Ch'en replied.
" The empire collapsed after the cold war? Whatever it was, it must have been destructive," Bagpipe commented.
"I don't really agree with that," Hoshiguma replied. "The name 'cold war' doesn't suggest it was that destructive."
"What does it even mean?" Blaze asked, "Yan and Ursus fought a war in cold environments?"
"That's a strange term." Greythroat replied.
"Sheesh, lots of new stuff we're learning in this." Noir remarked.
"It's all for the better, though." Yato said.
Amiya flipped to the next page which was Great Yan itself.
"Great Yan"
Great Yan is a nation located on the eastern continent of Sinoa, sharing its borders with only one other country, the Kingdom of Higashi. It is the second-largest nation in the world and the most populous, with a population of approximately 500 million people. The capital city is Lungmen.
Great Yan was formed in the mid-19th century when the state of Lungmen, once a colony of the Victorian Empire, gained independence and consolidated control over the rest of Sinoa, which was embroiled in conflicts among warring states.
In the 20th century, Great Yan emerged as one of Terra's superpowers, second only to the Ursus Empire. Yan engaged in a Cold War with Ursus to assert its dominance and ultimately emerged victorious.
As the world's leading superpower, Great Yan boasts the largest and most powerful military in Terra, excelling in both the quality of its weaponry and the size of its armed forces.
Great Yan is committed to maintaining global peace and fostering positive relations with other nations, including Victoria and even Ursus.
"Great Yan is a superpower in this? Interesting." Noir said.
"What's more to me is how Lungmen seems to be the capital of Yan. Even though it's more of an economic zone for Yan with its own government and authority." Ch'en replied.
"And somehow Lungmen was once a colony of Victoria who happen to gain their independence." Bagpipe chimed in.
"And unite all of Yan from the warring states in Sinoa." Hoshiguma followed as she and the others were impressed how Lungmen manage to unite the states in the continent to form Great Yan.
"After what we've seen in their assault of the capital city, Yan deserves that spot of 'world superpower'." Doctor remarked.
"Agreed. Old Wei would be delighted to hear this." Ch'en replied with a slight chuckle at the end.
"They have the quality and quantity, best of both things." Blaze stated.
"I'm beginning to enjoy learning more of these alternate universes." Dylan said, "This D guy put some creativity for this.
"Same here." Spot nodded in agreement.
"We've now learned of Ursus and Yan. Does this mean Victoria is next?" Bagpipe asked.
She got the answer when Amiya flipped to the next page and turned to the vouivre with a confirmed response. "Yep."
"Kingdom of Victoria"
The Kingdom of Victoria is the largest nation on the continent of Uropa, with its capital city located in Londinium and a population of 41 million.
Victoria shares borders with several Uropan nations, including Leithanien, Tara, Kjerag, Siesta, and Laterano.
Victoria is one of the oldest nations in the world, with its origins dating back to the 11th century. Historically, Victoria was the preeminent superpower in Terra, boasting a vast empire with colonies on nearly every continent, earning it the moniker "the empire on which the sun never sets."
However, after the Second Global War, Victoria's empire declined, and it lost its status as a superpower to Ursus and Yan. Despite losing most of its territories and colonies, Victoria has remained a significant global power into the 21st century and the events of MW1.
Victoria's military is considered average overall, though it is the strongest in Uropa. Despite not matching the might of Yan and Ursus, Victoria is reputed to have some of the world's best special forces operators, such as those from Rhodes Island.
"The Empre on which the sun never sets'. That's a pretty cool slogan." Blaze commented.
"Woah, Victoria was that powerful in this universe? That's braw." Bagpipe remarked.
"Yeah, until the second global war came up, which stated how its territories and colonies are all stripped away and is now reduced to a kingdom. Spot said.
"It don't really matter. I'm still impressed how they were a superpower for prolly a hundred years."
"They are still a global power by the time of the MW universe." Ch'en pointed out. "And they've seem to house in the best special force operators like Rhodes Island."
"They might lost all of that imperial glory, but they're still kicking." Catapult remarked.
"Hmm, so this mean that Rhodes Island isn't an independent organization?" Amiya wondered.
"I assume." Doctor said, "Victoria had been associated with Rhodes Island throughout the first movie. If that is the case, I wonder how it came to be?" While the Doctor is pondering about it, Amiya went to the next country - Columbia.
"Columbian Union"
The Columbian Union is the largest country on the western continent of Osea, with Max D.C. as its capital city and a population of around 76 million. It shares borders with Bolivar and Tocorora.
Much like in real life, Columbia was once a Victorian colony before declaring its independence. It was the youngest nation in Terra until events in the 20th century.
Columbia has maintained good relations with many eastern and central countries. Yan (or Lungmen) was one of the first to establish strong ties with Columbia, as both nations had broken away from the Victorian Empire.
However, relations with its neighbors have been less favorable. Columbia has been involved in various conflicts with Bolivar and Tocorora, with Bolivar becoming fractured due to a Columbia-sponsored government.
Columbia boasts the most advanced military in Terra, surpassing even Ursus and Yan. Thanks to significant scientific progress and a high budget, Columbia has developed advanced weapons and equipment, albeit at a high cost.
Notable advancements include unmanned aerial drones and the AC-130 in its technologically superior air force, which is also its most dominant military branch.
While Columbia possesses cutting-edge technology, its equipment and manpower are fewer in number compared to Yan and Ursus. This limitation prevented Columbia from competing as a world superpower during the Cold War.
"Looks like Columbia could've been a superpower aswell." Doctor said.
"Given how advanced they are, It would make sense." Blaze replied. "Sucks how their limit of manpower kind of prevented that."
"But we still get to see their technological advancement with that AC-130 gunship." Amiya said, mentioning the mission. If the Columbians weren't there, the Rhodes Islanders would have no way out of Ursus.
"I wonder how this alternate universe would go if they were a superpower." Greythroat thoughted.
"Well if two superpowers would cause problems for the world, three would've been a nightmare." Spot claimed.
"They did seem to screw over Bolivar and this Tocororan republic." Catapult pointed out. "If they were a superpower, they might even screw over the countries in Sargon. Like, taking all their natural resources and crap."
"Maybe even put in military bases without the country's jurisdiction."
"If they established themselves as 'world police', I would say 'World police, my ass!'" Spot let out a chuckle before the two gave eachother a fist bump. That's one rare thing they can agree on.
"Republic of Kazimierz"
The Republic of Kazimierz is located in the southwestern region of Vorisia. It is also the second largest country on the continent, surpassed only by the Ursus Federation. Its capital city is Kawalerielki, while the nation boasts a population of 25 million.
Unlike its real-life counterpart, this version of Kazimierz is neither a knightly-based nation with a feudal chivalric confederation nor a corporatocratic oligarchy. Instead, Kazimierz is a parliamentary republic with a bicameral legislature.
Kazimierz has a strained relationship with Ursus. Throughout their history, particularly in the 20th century, they have been repeatedly fucked over by the empire, especially during the Global Wars and the Cold War, the latter reduced them to a puppet state.
Even after the empire's collapse and Ursus's transformation into a federation with democratic principles, Kazimierz harbors lingering resentment. International efforts, including those by Yan and Victoria, have attempted to mediate and improve relations between the two nations.
Tensions flared anew when during the second civil war, the ultranationalist Reunion movement from Ursus invaded the Kazimierz village - Dewville, and massacred its entire population. The Ursus government quickly condemned the attack, attributing it to rebel forces and reinforcing their commitment to crushing the ultranationalists.
Despite this, Kazimierz remains distrustful and continues to hope for the defeat of the ultranationalists. The last thing they would worry is getting invaded the third time by Ursus.
"Wow, Kazimierz sure had it rough." Catapult remarked.
"Can't believe they were even puppeted by the Ursus Empire during the cold war." Dylan said.
"I don't blame them for not trusting Ursus till now." Noir replied. " They were also roped into the civil war with their own people being killed by the Reunion fellas."
"Atleast Ursus tried to assure them it wasn't in their jurisdiction." Yato brought up.
"Whatever they did during the global wars must've been a reason for Ursus to puppet them in the cold war." Ch'en assumed.
"Well I find it interesting that Kazimierz is a more normal country in this universe than being dominated by knights and corporates." Doctor said.
"Consider what the majors does to Infected, I'm glad for it." Amiya replied before going to the next country which happens to be one of the fictional ones that appeared in the universe.
Finished with the section, Amiya went to the next page, and it was the fictional country where the sniper mission took place.
"Luscinia"
The Republic of Luscinia is located in Vorisia, bordering Ursus. It is one of the youngest nations in the world, having gained its independence from the Ursus Empire after its collapse during the Cold War.
The capital city, Kordon, has a population of 28 million, predominantly Liberi.
Since gaining independence, Luscinia has sought to maintain close ties with its former occupier, fostering a strong alliance since the early 21st century. The country supported the Ursus government during the civil war against the ultranationalists.
Luscinia is also home to the infamous city of Chernobog. During the Cold War, the Ursus Empire manufactured nuclear weapons in the city's facilities. A catastrophic accident in one of the factories released massive amounts of radiation, rendering the city and its surroundings uninhabitable for the next 20,000 years.
Despite this, local mercenaries and arms dealers frequently visit the city to scavenge for nuclear materials left behind, using them for warfare
"Interesting country." Doctor remarked, "Seems they still want to be friends with Ursus despite being a former territory."
"They probably had it easy than Kazimierz back then." said Blaze.
"It also tells us what actually happened in Chernobog." Ch'en pointed out, that being a nuclear accident.
"It must've been pure brutal if it's gonna take a whopping 20,000 years for the city to be livable again," Bagpipe replied. "Every nation in this universe, including Luscinia, will probably be long gone by then."
"These nuclear material really are something serious." Dylan remarked.
"Dangerous too." Yato said.
Amiya went to the next page and raised her brow when it focuses on the last nation of the Countries section - Bayalir.
"Bayalir?" She spoke up, "I don't think I've heard it in the movie."
"Well let's read it and find out." suggests the Doctor.
"Bayalir"
The Republic of Bayalir is a nation located in the southwestern region of the continent of Sargonia. It has a population of 15 million, with Khisba as its capital city.
Bayalir was once occupied by the Sargonian Empire, which sought to unify all of Sargon under one banner. During the First Global War, Bayalir seized the opportunity to revolt against the Sargonians, aided by Victoria, which promised to restore Bayalir's lands.
However, after the Sargonian Empire's defeat, Victoria did not honor its promises to Bayalir, unilaterally deciding the nation's borders. This resulted in a complicated situation where Bayalir acquired foreign lands with different ethnic groups but did not reclaim all of its former territories. Despite these challenges, the Bayaliran government has strived to maintain stability and govern its diverse lands.
In the late 20th century, Great Yan offered assistance to Bayalir, which they accepted. Yan helped improve Bayalir's infrastructure and economy, leading to a strong relationship between the republic and the eastern superpower.
When Bayalir suffered a coup d'état by radicals seeking to restore the nation's former glory, Great Yan intervened once again to liberate the country, reinforcing their friendly ties.
"So Bayalir was the nation that Drudge took over and the Yanese marines invaded." Ch'en observed.
"I don't know why it wasn't mentioned in the movie, but still is interesting." Hoshiguma said. "Yan really helped them out when they were somewhat screwed over by the Victorians."
"Maybe they were searching for allies during the cold war." Doctor presumed. "Even then, I appreciated them for helping the nation of Bayalir."
"That explains why the marines were bent on liberating the country from Drudge's army." said Amiya.
"You know, I think I've heard of Bayalir before." Catapult thoughted.
"Oh, that's a region in Sargon." Spot ansewered, "If I'm not mistaken, It is also where Franka, Liskarm, Schwarze, and Rangers encountered those Rainbow dudes."
"That's right." Doctor responded. Speaking of which, they begin to think if this D person also sent a tape for the Rainbow operators.
Meanwhile, Bagpipe frowned when knowing the fact that Victoria screwed the Bayalirans over during the First Global War. "I can't believe Victoria would do that to them."
"Don't act like you're in fault of it." Noir said, "Those Victorians from that time period were backstabbing assholes."
After reading the bio of the country, Amiya noticed that it was the end of the country section. "Huh, I guess that was it for the countries."
Blaze perked up, "Does that mean up next is the wars and conflicts?"
Amiya gave her a nod, "It is."
"Good, we can learn about some of its history." The Doctor chimed in with an eager expression under their mask.
iv. Wars & Conflicts
Wars have always been a constant in history. Regardless of the universe, including Terra, conflicts are inevitable, driven by political motivations, territorial ambitions, and greed.
The wars in this universe are no better than in real life, but with the access of firearms being common throughout the alternate world, it became more destructive than ever.
This chapter will explained the wars that happened in the MW1 universe, along with those that are mentioned that happened in the past.
"I'm actually feeling a bit concerned about this. We are talking about wars in a world where everyone uses guns and other destructive weapons." Catapult said.
"I know what you mean." Spot replied, "But wars are wars and there's bound to have deaths, whether light or heavy."
"Do you think the first global war would be there?" Hoshiguma asks.
Amiya then switches to the next page before turning to the oni woman. "Yeah." Hoshiguma and the others begin to read the page.
"First Global War (1914 - 1918)"
The First Global War was a worldwide conflict between the Entente Powers and the Allied Powers. It was one of the most destructive conflicts the Terrans has ever faced, primarily due to the deployment of cutting-edge technology and advanced weaponry of the time.
The Entente powers consists of the following nations:
- Victorian Empire
- Ursus Empire
- Kingdom of Siracusa
- Rim Billiton
- Laterano
- Republic of Columbia
Meanwhile, the Allied Powers consists of these following nations:
- Empire of Kazdel
- Empire of Leithanien
- Sargonian Empire
- Kingdom of Kazimierz
"6v4, eh?" Dylan said, "I think I know who's gonna win."
"Consider that Sargon was an empire in this global war, it is obvious." Noir replied, thinking back of the Bayalir page that mentioned how Sargon was defeated.
Catapult noticed how Kazimierz was part of the allied powers too whilst oppossing Ursus. "Looks like Kazimierz and Ursus were enemies in this war. Given their fate in the cold war, they lost aswell."
"And Kazdel seems to be the leader of the alliance." Amiya said.
"Those are a good amount of countries from various places on Terra." Blaze remarked. "Maybe that's why it's called a 'global war'."
The war began when a Sankta from Laterano assassinated a prominent archduke in the Kazdelian Empire's colonial territory in Uropa that was near their border. The Kazdelians were furious and declared war on Laterano.
However, Laterano was allied with the Kingdom of Siracusa, who were displeased with Kazdel's actions against their Sankta allies. In response, Siracusa declared war on Kazdel and aimed to expel them from Uropa.
The situation escalated when the Leithanien Empire, allied with Kazdel, declared war on Siracusa. This also prompted the Victorian Empire, who was a friend of Siracusa, to declare war on Leithanien.
Soon, nearly every nation in Uropa was embroiled in the conflict.
In late 1914, the Empire of Sargon formally joined the war on the side of the Allied Powers, while offering assistance from Kazdel and Leithanien to expel Victoria and her colonies from Sargon.
With Sargon's entry into the war, the Victorian Empire called upon Rim Billiton and Columbia, with whom they had maintained friendly relations, for their assistance. While Rim Billiton agreed and sent their battalions to fight, Columbia was reluctant to join, but agreed to provide supplies to aid Victoria in the war.
However, the situation changed when the Kazdelian colony in Osea (comprising of territories that would later become the United Rico Islands) attacked several of Columbia's military bases and invaded their territory. This prompted Columbia to join the war.
Ursus remained neutral until mid 1916 when Kazimierz invaded their southwestern territory. The Kingdom of Kazimierz was promised by Kazdel that they can get their lost lands back from Ursus if they help them win the war.
The First Global War had lasted four grueling years and the Terrans has suffered around 30 million worldwide casualties. But by the end, the Entente Powers came out victorious.
"30 million deaths..." Amiya uttered.
"Holy crap..." said Blaze with widened eyes. "It must've been pretty bloody down there."
"When you have almost a dozen nations at war on different fronts of the whole world, casualties are bound to reach that level." The Doctor stated in a solemn tone.
"Compared to the casualties that would've happened in the nuclear missile strikes, it's not that much. But it is still a lot." Catapult said.
"Yeah, but you gotta take to consideration that most of those casualties are civilians." Spot replied then stated, "These 30 million had to be soldiers in the frontline that had to endure the hellish things of the frontlines in this war.."
"Second Global War (1939 - 1945)"
The Second Global War was the most destructive conflict that the Terrans had ever suffered. It resulted in unprecedented destruction and loss of life, fundamentally altering global political and social landscapes. And it also birthed of the most destructive weapon that the Terrans ever created.
The Second Global War was fought between the Axis and the Allies, not to be confused from the Allied Powers in the First Global War.
The Axis consists of nations such as:
- Leithanien Reich
- Kingdom of Siracusa
- Empire of Higashi
- Kingdom of Kazimierz
- United territories of Kazdel
Where as the Allies consists of nations such as:
- Ursus Empire
- Great Yan
- Victorian Empire
- Columbian Union
- Laterano
- Kingdom of Iberia
- Kingdom of Minos
- Kingdom of Sami
- Rim Billiton
"Wow, those are a lot of nations than I expected." commented Catapult.
"Looks like Great Yan and Higashi are part of the war, against eachother too." Hoshiguma said.
"Columbia became a union rather than a republic in the last war." Blaze pointed out.
"And Kazdel had lost their empire." Doctor noted the fact that Kazdel is now written as the 'united territories'. "Something bad must've happened to them after the first global war."
"I don't understand what is difference of the Allied powers with the Allies?" Dylan questioned the faction.
"Whatever it is, given that they have the majority of nations, I'd say they're the ones that were victorious." Noir replied.
Amiya let out a sigh, "I'm worried of what the casualties gonna be..." She said before going to the next page of the start of the war.
The war began in mid-1939 when Minos was invaded by Siracusa from their colonial territory in Sargon, which was near the kingdom. Siracusa gained a foothold in the country while Minos tried to hold its ground.
The invasion was condemned by Victoria and her allies, as Minos was considered a neutral nation. They issued an ultimatum demanding that Siracusa withdraw its forces or face a declaration of war.
When Siracusa refused to withdraw and simultaneously invaded parts of Sargon, Victoria declared war on them. This action prompted Leithanien to declare war on Victoria, as Siracusa was now their ally. Laterano joined the war, fearing that Leithanien's military expansion would threaten their borders. Rim Billiton also joined the conflict to support Victoria in defeating Leithanien and Siracusa.
When the Uropan front opened, Victoria and almost everyone else assumed it would resemble the First Global War. However, Leithanien pulled an ace up their sleeve with a tactic called-Blitzkrieg.
Victoria found themselves rapidly pushed back as the Leithaniens advanced at lightning speed, encircling and decimating their best armies. The entire world was shocked when Leithanien's tactic expelled Victoria from their homeland and occupied all their territory along with Laterano.
"Wait, what??" Bagpipe exclaimed with a look of shock. "Victoria got annexed??"
She wasn't the only one as Ch'en along with the others were too surprised that a nation like Victoria would lost the battle against Leithanien till the point they were annexed and its military kicked out of the continent.
"Holy crap, this Blitzkrieg tactic really worked well for them." Hoshiguma said.
"What does 'Blitzkrieg' even mean?" Bagpipe asked.
"It can mean 'rapid attack' in Leithanien" Doctor answered, "Which means that Leithanien's tactic involved in lightining war where their forces move in great speed and and force until they manage to overwhelm their enemy when they least expected."
"So the Victorians acted like a sluggard during that?" the vouvire said before letting out a groan of disappointment.
Major nations such as Columbia, Ursus, and Yan grew wary of Leithanien's aggressive expansion, with Columbia formally joining the war to support the exiled Victorian military.
As the war progressed, Yan was suddenly invaded by the Empire of Higashi in early 1941. Higashi had aligned with Leithanien and Siracusa, formally joining their Axis alliance along with Kazdel, which had united after its civil war, thus extending the conflict to the eastern world. In response, Yan joined the war on the side of the Allies.
"So they had a civil war after the first world war? That makes sense." Ch'en said.
"They had a big empire after all." Hoshiguma replied.
Later that year, Leithanien and its allies concentrated their forces to the north and launched the largest invasion the world had ever seen against Ursus. Approximately 4 million Axis troops, including forces from Kazimierz, which had joined the Axis at the start of the invasion, were deployed in this massive offensive.
"Okay, that's just stupid." Catapult remarked of Kazimierz's action.
"I guess they wanted revenge." Spot said.
The Ursus Empire endured an onslaught from five nations simultaneously, steadily losing territory and suffering heavy casualties, with hundreds of thousands of men lost. Fortunately, the onset of winter halted the Axis advance, leading to a major defeat for them in Ursus' capital city, Grypherburg.
The Allied nations sent aid to Ursus, and in addition - Sami had joined to help push back the Axis forces. Soon after, the Axis forces were expelled from Vorisia. Kazimierz was forced to surrender once again and faced severe punishment.
This event is considered a turning point in the war against the Axis, which suffered half of the casualties from their invasion force along with the loss of one of their members
Throughout the years, the Axis forces were pushed back on all fronts. Siracusa withdrew from Sargon, and Higashi was driven out of Sinoa, although was met with brutal resistance.
The Allies also planned to liberate Uropa and restore Victoria and Laterano to the mainland. When the landings occurred, there was a tremendous loss of life. However, they established a foothold and began the liberation of Uropa.
The Second Global War officially ended when Higashi, the last Axis nation, surrendered. This was prompted by Yan's deployment of two atomic bombs on two major cities in Higashi, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
The war claimed over 65 million lives, making it the deadliest conflict in Terra's history and earning it the designation of the worst war in human history.
Reading the death toll of the war, everyone was shocked. The second global war claimed more lives than the first one did, and it seems to be the worst of all conflicts in the alternate Terra.
""65 million..." The Doctor uttered as Amiya felt speechless seeing the death toll.
"I can't even wrap my head around that. It's more people than I can imagine." Spot said.
"What the hell were they all doing in that war...?" Noir wondered, imagining all the deaths that occured from soldiers and civilians.
"Crivens, it even surpassed Victoria's population..." Bagpipe replied.
"Ursus must've suffered a lot of those casualties from the Axis invasion." Ch'en said.
"Maybe Yan and Higashi also have something to do with it." Hoshiguma added. She may not know, but there's a feeling there were worse events that happened in that front between the two countries.
"Victoria might as well..." Bagpipe followed, "They were booted out of their homeland, and the Leithaniens must've slaughtered their best armies along with the poor sods."
"This is why War is really horrible for everyone involved." Yato states.
Taking a moment to sink in what they learn about the global wars, they went to the next war on the list - the Cold War.
"The Cold War"
The Cold war is a period of geopolitical tension between Great Yan and the Ursus Empire that started from the 1950s. The conflict is based on the geopolitical and economical struggle between the two super powers.
In the aftermath of the Second Global War, Great Yan and the Ursus Empire rose to prominence as the two preeminent superpowers, dethroning the Victorian Empire, which had reigned as a dominant force for decades.
The Victorian Empire also faced the significant loss of all its colonies around Terra, particularly its prized colony on the island of Siesta, which gained independence and became a sovereign nation.
"That really sucks for them." Bagpipe commented.
"Siesta being a colony of Victoria is an interesting change." Ch'en said.
Great Yan and the Ursus Empire maintained friendly relations. However, as they entered the 1950s, their interactions began to sour.
Yan disapproved of Ursus's decision to establish a puppet government in Kazimierz, perceiving it as an aggressive expansion of Ursus influence. Meanwhile, Ursus harbored deep concerns about Great Yan's burgeoning nuclear capabilities, viewing it as a strategic move to assert dominance and become the preeminent superpower of Terra
In the wake of the Cold War, both Great Yan and the Ursus Empire had become formidable in their military capabilities, making them equally matched adversaries. Ursus even managed to develop its own nuclear weapons, posing a significant threat not only to Yan but to Terra as a whole.
The world understood that if tensions between the two superpowers escalated, it could lead to all-out nuclear destruction.
Neither Ursus nor Yan engaged directly in large-scale conventional warfare. Instead, they sought to outperform each other in military technology and economic strength, hoping that the other would eventually exhaust its resources and collapse.
"So that explains why it's a cold war." Hoshiguma said.
"I could see where they are going with this." Ch'en replied, "It's best to outperform your enemy without being roped into a nuclear war."
"And for the record, nobody wants a nuclear war that would potentially destroy all of civilization as we know it." Amiya stated getting nods from everyone.
The Cold War eventually came to an end in the early 1990s where Yan emerged victorious while the Ursus Empire had to endure a series of economic problems and political reforms, eventually leading to its collapse.
Kazimierz was freed and no longer become a puppet nation. New countries were formed from the dissolution of the Ursus Empire, those being: Luscinia, Lefkorosia, and Chrysae.
The remaining territories of the Ursus Empire were gradually reorganized into the well-known Ursus Federation. In the aftermath, the new Federation began to maintain friendly relations with Great Yan, reminiscent of the immediate post-Second Global War period.
"That was all of the Cold War? It felt shorter than I expected," Blaze said.
"Well, it seems intentional since this almanac is about modern warfare," Greythroat replied. "If this 'D' person can create this almanac, they might make a more detailed one about the Cold War."
"And the first and second global wars," Spot chimed in.
"I'm glad Kazimierz is free after this Cold War, but I can't blame them for not trusting Ursus until now," Catapult said.
"They did join against Ursus in the two global wars," Yato pointed out. "Ursus just wanted revenge."
"But making them a puppet seems a bit far," Amiya remarked.
"Regardless, Yan did their job and became the sole superpower, it seems," the Doctor added. They decide to flip the page on to the next conflict. If they remember, It was mentioned in the Frostnova mission.
"Chechen Insurrection (1994)"
The Chechen insurrection was a one-month conflict between the Ursus Federation and the Ichkerian Militia of the small fictional Ursus province of Chechen. It began when the militia took up arms and rebelled against the Ursus-controlled authority in the province.
Initially, Ursus attempted to address the protests through peaceful means, but the Ichkerians escalated the situation by resorting to violence, killing police officers and any civilians who were not part of their cause.
In response, Ursus declared the militia a terrorist group and retaliated by sending the military to suppress them. Fortunately for Ursus, the militia was poorly equipped and lacked military tactics, so they didn't need to send a lot of men.
"The 23rd Brigade" was chosen to quell the insurrection in Chechen since they were close to the province. This brigade consists of 7500 personnel and was led by none other than Buldrokkas'tee, who was a colonel in the military at the time.
The 23rd Brigade swiftly crushed the Ickherian militia with their superior might, and those who surrendered were punished severely, sending a clear message to any potential future insurrectionists about the consequences that they would bring to them.
"I guess this was Reunion's origin." Noir said.
"And how Patriot found Frostnova during the conflict." Ch'en replied, thinking back of her alternate self saying how she lost her parents, likely from the militia, in the conflict.
"Whatever happened in this insurrection must've shattered their minds and eventually their allegiance to the Ursine government and its military." Yato presumed.
"Or maybe they were displease of the federation to begin with and were supporters of the empire back then." Amiya assumed. She went to the next war, which is the Ursus Civil War in the Modern Warfare movie.
"Ursus Civil War"
The Ursus Civil war is a conflict between the current Ursine Government and their loyalist army against the Ultranationalist party with their own army - Reunion.
During the 21st century, the Ursus federation is experiencing a period of intense political instability. Those within the federation were former imperialists that were still bitter of how their country lost the cold war which led to its collapse.
They're also hardline nationalists that despised of how their current government is leaning too much to Yan and it's allies, thinking how it is destroying Ursus' reputation as once a glorious superpower.
In the birth of it, the Ultranationalist party was born as a revolutionary political party in Ursus, aiming to restore the country back to its imperial era where they believe the country was at it's greatest.
In the heat of the conflict, the Government was supported by Great Yan and Victoria, aiming to keep the pro-peace government from the likes of the radicals. They provided them with aid that would be enough to combat the paramilitary force.
Most of the fighting took place in the Ursus countryside as the Ultranationalists had spread their influence in small towns and villages across the country. It is also rumored they've gained their influence in neighboring countries of Luscinia and Kazimierz.
"Makes sense for the rebels to hide in the countryside." Noir said, "The loyalists were more likely to take the cities."
"Still, the countryside are a large enough place to hide an army or two." Yato replied.
"The Reunion forces must've used guerilla tactics against the loyalists." Doctor thoughted.
"Well they are portrayed as Patriot's Guerillas, so it would make sense they use that tactic against the more technologically superior Loyalists." Amiya pointed out.
Various battles and key events occurred in the war in places like:
- Southern Mountains/Caucasia Mountains:
The loyalists were tasked with liberating a village under Reunion control, where Reunion had stationed their BM-21 rocket launchers to decimate the valley, resulting in hundreds of civilian and loyalist casualties.
The loyalists teamed up with three Victorian special operatives from Rhodes Island, who were on a mission to rescue an informant from Reunion. The informant was being held in the same village the loyalists aimed to liberate.
The Rhodes Islanders provided sniper support for the loyalists while engaging Reunion forces obstructing their path, before proceeding to rescue their informant.
The battle concluded with a loyalist victory, as they successfully liberated the village, while the Rhodes Islanders extracted their informant by helicopter.
- Southern Ursus
While Rhodes Island was leaving Ursus with their informant, their helicopter was shot down by a stray Stinger missile, crashing into Ultranationalist territory. The surviving seven Rhodes Islanders and the informant had to fight their way through Reunion-controlled villages.
The Columbians contacted the stranded group and provided air support with their AC-130, wreaking havoc on the Reunion forces in the towns and villages.
The battle ended when the Rhodes Islanders reached the LZ at a junkyard, where two Columbian helicopters arrived to pick them up. The Reunion forces suffered a hundred KIA.
"Hmm, I wonder if the Columbians would make another appearance in the universe?" Dylan spoke up.
"Maybe they will in the second part of the movie, whatever what would happen." Noir said.
"Speaking of which, what do you guys think would happen in the second part?" Blaze asked. Although most shrugged or shake their heads, there were a few answers.
"A conflict in Bolivar." Greythroat thoughted.
"Maybe something regarding Blacksteel." The Doctor speculated.
"Or if Yan got roped into another war but this time in their mainland." said Hoshiguma.
"Hmm, good guesses." Blaze replied.
"I'm not too keen of the last one though..." Ch'en said, thinking of Yan and Lungmen getting invaded. "But given that Yan is the most powerful country in the MW world, I doubt it would happen."
- Dewville Village, Northern Kazimierz
The Rhodes Islanders were informed by their informant that Drudge Tulla had fled Bayalir after the nuclear explosion in the capital and was now in custody of Reunion forces in Kazimierz.
Rhodes Island assembled a squad of seven men, aided by a lone Ursine Loyalist soldier, to assassinate Drudge. The squad infiltrated the village and witnessed the atrocities committed by the Reunion forces on the villagers.
After avenging the villagers by killing all the soldiers, they breached Drudge's safehouse, interrogated him for information, and then executed him.
Eight hours later, the squad dug in and prepared defensive positions as Reunion forces launched a counter-attack on the village. The squad repelled wave after wave of Reunion soldiers, killing dozens, before falling back to the safehouse.
With the LZ behind enemy lines, the squad fought their way through the village, eliminating any Reunion soldiers in their path. They eventually reached the LZ where four Yanese marines were waiting for their arrival.
The squad successfully escaped the village, though they lost one member during the fighting.
"Dobermann..." Amiya muttered with a frown.
"In the end, she did what she could to give cover fire for you and the others." Spot said.
"She still went out with a bang, though." Catapult replied, remebering the dead Reunion bodies that was with Dobermann when she was injured.
"On the bright side, it took a hundred Reunion soldiers for them to just kill one Rhodes Island operator." Noir remarked.
Spot and Catapult chuckled with the latter saying, "Yep, Rhodes Island are badasses."
- Capturing Reunion Commander - Yelena: Joint Operation of Rhodes Island and Y.M.C.
Rhodes Island began working with the Yanese Marines, who were willing to assist them after the events in Bayalir. Together with the loyalists, they devised a plan to ambush a Reunion convoy and capture the Reunion commander, Yelena.
A force of 14 soldiers - five Rhodes Islanders, two Marines, and seven loyalists - was dispatched to take a Reunion checkpoint. After clearing it out and disguising themselves as the enemy, they waited for two hours until Yelena's convoy arrived.
The squad trapped the convoy in the chokepoint before ambushing them. Amidst the chaos, Yelena managed to escape, prompting the squad to pursue her.
Yelena moved through Reunion-controlled streets, forcing the squad to fight their way through. Eventually, they cornered her on the roof of a building and were about to restrain her. Unfortunately, Yelena chose to commit suicide by shooting herself.
The operation was considered a failure, as the squad needed Yelena alive to extract information regarding her father.
"We could've atleast tried to stop her from shooting herself." Amiya said, dejectedly.
"Maybe they should've shoot her in the foot." Dylan replied.
"There were still risks of her blood arteries getting damaged from it." Greythroat stated.
- Altai Mountains/Nuclear Facility
Yelena's death enraged Patriot, who he then gathered his forces and attacked a loyalist-controlled nuclear facility, killing all its occupants. Patriot's plan was to launch two nuclear missiles at the northern seaboard of Yan, which would result in 121 million casualties-an even higher toll than the Second Global War.
Victoria and Yan could not allow this to happen, so they sent Rhodes Island and the Marines to retake the launch facility. A squad of 10 men was deployed on the outskirts of the facility to cut off the power grid and breach the perimeter.
After completing their initial tasks and fighting off dozens of Reunion soldiers, they made their way to the main facility, engaging in fierce battles with the defenders. After clearing the surface, the task force began to infiltrate the facility through the vents while the Marines sent in additional reinforcements.
Intense fighting continued inside the facility, with Rhodes Island and the Yanese Marines suffering casualties of their own. Eventually, they reached the control room and successfully deactivated the missiles, preventing them from striking Yan.
With the mission complete, the task force retreated from the nuclear facility.
- Altai Mountains highway: Final Showdown
Rhodes Island and the Yanese Marines escaped the facility using enemy vehicles, heading towards a secondary LZ. However, they were pursued by Reunion forces determined to prevent their escape.
The Joint Task Force found themselves on the freeway, engaging with Reunion forces in trucks, while civilians were caught in the crossfire. Patriot joined the attack, using an MI-24 Hind to destroy the task force's vehicles.
After an intense firefight, Patriot's Hind destroyed the only bridge leading to the secondary LZ, trapping the task force. The survivors were forced to fight off waves of Reunion forces until they received communication from the loyalists, who were coming to help.
When the loyalist forces arrived, they searched for survivors and managed to recover one who was still breathing and sent her to the hospital. They also confirmed the death of the Reunion leader, Patriot.
"That was such a chaotic war when we were part in it." Noir said, "Such a shame Amiya was the only survivor, though.."
"But what about Chenchen?" Bagpipe chimed in, "The last time we saw her is when the Ursine fellow doing CPR on her."
"Maybe the process wasn't succesfull and she probably died aswell." Blaze thought. "What do you think of it?" The feline turned to the Lung.
"It would be unfortunate if I died right there." Ch'en said, "But even if Amiya ended up being the sole survivor, atleast she killed Patriot and gave the Loyalists a chance on winning the civil war."
"Indeed." Amiya replied with the Doctor nodding in agreement. While it was unfortunate that Amiya lost all her comrades, it was all for the greater good.
They then went to the last conflcit of the almanac.
"Operation: Bayalir Freedom"
The Bayalir conflict or otherwise known as 'Operation: Bayalir Freedom' or the 'Liberation of Bayalir' was a military engagement between Great Yan and an unnamed revolutionary paramilitary faction that took control of the nation of Bayalir.
The conflict began when Bayalir suffer a violent military coup d'etat from OpFors led by Drudge Tulla, securing its mineral wealth and cementing itself as a major power in Sargonia. Their coup culminated in the dramatic execution of former President, and sister of Drudge - Picale Tulla, on national television.
Since Bayalir was a close ally of Yan in the continent, the Yanese government condemned the coup before sending a large Yanese force, which included the Yanese Marines, to defeat Drudge's army and restore the nation back to what it was.
"I do appreciate them for looking after their Sargonian allies." Spot remarked.
"Though I'm a bit skeptical if Yan truly views Bayalir as an ally.' Ch'en said, thinking how they might only see them as a tool for its resources.
"We'll see. For now, they were trying to restore the government from those radicals who mercilessly killed civilians." Blaze replied.
Key events took place in the war as Yan made staggering progress on toppling Drudge's regime:
- The First Wave
The Yanese Marine Corps (YMC) deployed to the small coastal town of Bayalir with a large fleet of aircraft carriers and amphibious assault vehicles positioned beyond Bayalir's maritime border. According to intelligence and spotters, Drudge Tulla was believed to be in the town.
The Yanese Marines initiated the invasion using Harbin Z-20 helicopters, flying over the city while OpFor garrisons attempted to shoot them down. The Marines landed on the edge of the city, as they were informed that Drudge was located near the HQ.
"Harbin, huh? Cool name." Dylan said, being a pilot himself.
Noir replied, "I could've fooled them as Columbian helicopters."
"What makes you say that?" Yato asked.
The male oni shrugged, "I'unno, just a feeling."
Marine squads raided the HQ, but after a brief and fierce battle, Drudge Tulla was nowhere to be found. Following the initial raid, new intelligence indicated that Drudge was at the TV station, broadcasting his propaganda.
The Marines move to secure the new objective as they prowl their way through the town. With support from fighter jets, the marines successfully fought off the OpFors before making their way to the TV station. They surround the place before sending a squad in to the structure.
A fierce battle erupted within the station as the Marines moved from room to room, engaging OpFor forces. When they finally breached the broadcasting room, they discovered that Drudge wasn't there-it was merely a recording playing on a loop.
While the Marines succeeded on taking the town and inflicted heavy casualties on the OpFor, they failed to get Drudge Tulla.
"At least they've managed to get a toehold in the country," Bagpipe said.
"It's the first step for the liberation of Bayalir." Spot remarked.
- Assisting War Pig
The Yanese were making staggering progress against the OpFors, liberating each towns and cities from their control. The Capital city was also attacked as the fighting intensified.
Swire's marine squadron, who once participated in the attack of the coastal town, were tasked to help out a Type 99 tank that was stuck in the mud whilst surrounded by enemy soldiers.
At the crack of dawn, the squad fought through the heavily defended city, with OpFors using AA guns to target Yanese aircraft. Swire's marine squad managed to reach the tank, nicknamed "War Pig," and aided its defenders.
After dealing with the OpFors, the marines set up defensive positions while engineers worked on repairing War Pig.
Many hours later, they managed to fix War Pig just in time for the OpFors to launch a counterattack.
The OpFors fiercely fought the marines in the marketplace, but were no match for the Yanese forces. Even their T-72 tank, supplied by the Ultranationalists from Ursus, stood no chance against Yan's more advanced and powerful Type 99.
Amiya begin to wonder, "Why didn't the ultranationalists send one of their more stronger tanks?"
"Maybe those tanks would be too complicated for the OpFors to use." Blaze assumed.
"But didn't they literally had an air force with those fighter jets? Pretty sure they can use one of Ursus' stronger tanks, whatever it is." Greythroat said.
- Battle at the Capital City
The OpFors had made their final stand in the capital city and in the presidential palace where Yanese intelligence reported that is where Drudge Tulla resides. It is also reported that the OpFors had an Ursine nuclear warhead in the city.
In response, the Yanese forces executed a final push using the "Shock and Awe" tactic, employing overwhelming air power to flatten the city and its defenses. While the marines and the air force executed their assault, Swire's squadron was tasked with relieving an advanced team stuck deep in enemy territory.
After successfully completing their mission, all Yanese personnel were ordered to evacuate the city upon confirmation that the OpFors had indeed placed a nuclear warhead there. As the marines, including Swire's squad, were flying out of the city, NEST teams attempted to disarm the nuke.
Their efforts proved futile, as moments later the nuclear warhead detonated. The resulting explosion destroyed the entire city and killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers from both sides.
After this catastrophic event, Operation: Bayalir Freedom was declared over. The nuclear explosion in the capital city shocked the entire world with the damages being far more destructive than in the Second Global War when Yan nuked two of Higashi's cities.
It is estimated that the Yanese Marine Corps suffered around 30,000 KIA in this single incident, more than they did throughout the entire conflict.
Everyone was surprised seeing the total deaths of the Yanese marines from that nuke.
"Holy shit, 30,000 of them died in that explosion?" Catapult said in disbelief.
"All of them gone in the blink of an eye..." Doctor replied.
"Having 30,000 KIA in one incident is pretty damaging for the army," remarks Spot.
"To think all of that would've gone smoothly for the Yanese marines." Ch'en commented as she remembered how it took them just a few days to defeat the OpFors with minimal casualties.
"I am glad I wasn't part of the assault," Hoshiguma said before thinking of her other two friends, "But seeing the other marines slowly dying while being in the nuclear explosion must've been terrifying."
"And such a terrible way to go, tae." Bagpipe added, thinking back how the nukes could've also let out vast amounts of radiation that most likely poisons anyone that comes near them.
Amiya let out a sad sigh, "I just hope all those marines atleast have a proper burial. Same goes with the OpFor soldiers that most likely did not expect their own leader to nuke the city."
With all the wars covered in the universe, Amiya went to the next page, the factions in MW1.
v. Factions
Factions played an integral part in both real life and fictional stories, especially in wars and conflicts. Here are the following factions that appeared in the MW1 storyline:
"Rhodes Island"
Rhodes Island is a special forces unit of the Victorian military. It is one of the oldest special forces unit in the world, and arguably the first ever to exist.
Rhodes Island was established during the Second Global War, following Victoria's defeat in Uropa and the exile of its surviving military from the mainland. Founded by a man named Rhodes, the organization began as a regiment within the exiled military forces. While initially composed of Rhodes' own platoon of the army, the regiment later welcomed soldiers from Victoria's colonies and even allowed foreign volunteers to join its ranks.
This diverse composition helped Rhodes Island grow into a formidable and inclusive fighting force and their military actions spoke for itself during the war against the Axis powers.
In the present day, Rhodes Island is considered the most powerful and formidable Special Forces group in all of Terra. They still retain their belief of letting foreigners from other countries to join their ranks.
In the MW1 timeline, Rhodes Island played a major role in the Ursine Civil War, assisting the loyalists against Reunion and the Ultranationalists. They're responsible on crippling the Reunion military in its various operations, killing hundreds of their soldiers and remain a thorn on the Ultranationalists side.
They also assassinated the OpFor leader - Drudge Tulla, putting an end from all the atrocities he committed.
(A/N: Rhodes Island is basically a combination of the SAS and the French Foreign Legion lolz)
The two leaders of Rhodes Island were already intrigued of this alternate history about the foundation of Rhodes Island, same goes for the other operators, especially the Lungmenites.
"Wow, so this is how Rhodes Island was founded?" Amiya said with a hint of amusement.
"Very interesting." The Doctor replied. "Especially how Rhodes Island seems to be the first and oldest special forces military unit in this alterante world."
"And how it was formed during the Second global war where Victoria was annexed." Ch'en added.
"Though I didn't expect of this 'Rhodes' guy to be the founder of Rhodes Island." Dylan said before chuckling, "It makes the name 'Rhodes Island' kinda silly."
"Hey, do you two know about this Rhodes guy from before?" Noir asked the Doctor and Amiya, the two shaking their heads in response.
"Even before I had amnesia, I certainly do not know a man name 'Rhodes' during its time as Babel." Doctor answered.
"Regardless of who he is, he certainly did a great work on forming Rhodes Island to what it is in the present year of this MW1 universe." Blaze complimented.
"Must be a braw lad tae," Bagpipe chimed in.
"I don't know what that means, but I agree." Dylan replied, Bagpipe rolling her eyes after.
They went to the next faction of the section - the Yanese marines.
"Yanese Marine Corps (Y.M.C.)"
The Yanese Marine Corps or referred as the Yanese Marines, is the maritime land force service branch of the Yanese military. They conduct in amphibious and expeditionary warfare. They are considered to be one of the fiercest fighting force in the Yanese military.
"Huh, interesting." Hoshiguma said.
"So they sent one of their best units to Bayalir. I guess that makes sense how they won in just a few days." Ch'en replied.
"I'm still not sure if these Marines are that different than Army guys." Spot remarked.
In MW1, they play a major role during 'Operation: Bayalir Freedom' where they invade the nation of Bayalir that its government thrown over in a military coup d'etat initiated by Drudge.
In the operation, the Yanese Marines dressed in their trademark Desert MARPAT camouflaged Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniforms which fits for the desert environment in Bayalir.
The Yanese marines made overwhelming progress in the operation, able to defeat most of the OpFor military in just a few days before taking on to the capital. However, the operation ended up in a catastrophe where a nuclear explosion erupted in the capital city, killing about 30,000 marines that got caught in the blast.
After the liberation of Bayalir, the Yanese marine corps ought to assist Rhodes Island and the Loyalists in the civil war against the Ultranationalists. Some of the marines consists of those that fought in Bayalir.
For their role in the Ursine civil war, the Yanese Marines adopted darker-toned gear, aligning with the MARSOC Raiders regiment.
The marines entered the conflict by rescuing a Rhodes Island squad in northern Kazimierz from hordes of Reunion soldiers. Subsequently, they participated in joint operations with Rhodes Islanders and Loyalists, effectively countering the Ultranationalist threat.
"Gotta say, their MARSOC Raiders look pure brilliant," Bagpipe complimented.
"Agreed." Ch'en nodded, though it reminds her of Lin's shadow guards due to the colour.
"Me and Massey looked pretty badass in those uniforms." Hoshiguma remarks.
"The tactical uniforms in this universe is as endearing as ours." Doctor states.
"Loyalists"
The Loyalists are the forces of the Ursine military who remain loyal to the Federal Government. They heavily oppose the ultranationalist party and fought against Reunion in major battles in the civil war.
As the main faction of the Ursine military supporting the government, the Loyalists play a crucial role in the civil war. Their access to the national arsenal makes them significantly better equipped than the Reunion forces. They are known for their distinctive gray uniforms and black ZSH-1 helmets equipped with night-vision goggles or Ushankas.
"In a way, they look cool." Catapult said.
"It stands out more against the Reunion soldiers." Spot replied.
The Loyalists include elite units from their special purpose regiment, known as the 'Spetsnaz.' Although these units do not appear prominently in the main storyline, they conduct critical special operations against Reunion forces, contributing significantly to the Loyalists' efforts in the civil war.
The loyalists were also supported by numerous foreign countries, the notable ones being Yan and Victoria, sharing the same goal on putting down Reunion and the Ultranationalists party.
The Loyalists' efforts were pivotal in the civil war, showcasing their determination and resilience in defending the Federal Government against internal and external threat. While suffering major losses and casualties by the ultranationalists, they would not give up that easily.
"Seeing what these loyalists pulled in the film, aye, I agree," Bagpipe said.
"Nine did well acting as one of the commanders for the loyalists," Hoshiguma replied.
Ch'en began to wonder, "I'm still confused why Nine was part of the Ursine loyalists."
"Maybe something regarding Reunion, but this time she is against them," Hoshiguma recalled how Nine left the LGD and claimed to be joining Reunion.
"The Loyalists fought well to preserve their country, I say," Dylan said. "I wonder how long it would take for them to snuff out the resistance of Reunion before they won?"
Blaze answered, "With a large country like Ursus, I'd say a couple of weeks or months. Their leadership is being questioned with Patriot's death, which is more likely in shambles right about now."
"Speaking of the Reunion movement." Amiya spoke up, before showing the next page which was the Reunion.
"Reunion Movement"
The Reunion Movement is a paramilitary organization that was created by the Ultranationalist party with its sole purpose to combat the Loyalists forces in the Ursine civil war.
Reunion Movement was led by Buldrokkas'tee, or referred to as 'The Patriot', who was once part of the Ursus Military before his desertion with his army. Reunion's origins went back to the chechen insurrection where it was once known as the '23rd Brigade' whom were tasked to quell the Chechen rebels.
While victorious in their operation, the events that happened left them disgusted and dissatisfied of the current Ursus government who they think are an incompetent mess, letting insurrections like these to happen frequently.
A year later, Patriot and his brigade deserted the Ursus military and branded themselves as the 'Guerilla army'. The Guerillas would occur a number of illegal activities within the country and its neighbors, including where they worked together with Luscinian Mercenaries on extracting nuclear material in Chernobog.
More than a decade later, the Guerilla army worked with the Ultranationalist party as the two shared the same goals. They would later name themselves the 'Reunion Movement' and became the paramilitary force that would be used to combat the loyalists, all while Patriot himself rose to become the leader of the Ultranationalists and Reunion.
"So that's how they were created." Greythroat said.
"I dinnae understand how Patriot and his guerillas weren't nabbed after their desertion," Bagpipe wondered.
"Maybe they deserted during their mission, going AWOL." Ch'en assumed.
"And Ursus is a pretty large country. You could hide an army in there." said Blaze.
"True, and the government wouldn't want to waste any time and resources on finding a single army brigade." The Doctor replied.
"I am impressed how Patriot let both the Ultranationalist party and the Reunion army." Noir commented.
"He must've had the charisma to do it." Dylan remarked.
"Well, leading both of them would have its consequences, and that would be the death of him in that bridge." Yato said, "This would mean both the party and the Reunion army are left leaderless."
Blaze gave a smirk, "Looks like the loyalists are gonna have a more easier time then."
Finally, Amiya flip to the last faction of the section - the Bayalir OpFors.
"OpFors"
OpFors were the name used of the unnamed revolutionary paramilitary group that rose to power in Bayalir and toppling down its current government. As the name suggests, the OpFors are mostly made up of military personnel of Bayalir.
The OpFors was led by Drudge Tulla who was a military commander of the B.A.F (Bayaliran Armed Forces). He, like some others, share their hatred of their nation being heavily reliant on Yan.
The OpFors collaborated with the Ursine Ultranationalists due to their shared views and common goals. The Ultranationalists supplied the OpFor with Ursine weapons and equipment, sufficient for them to overthrow the government and combat its forces.
With the necessary supplies, the OpFors successfully led a coup against the government, culminating in the death of the president. After the coup, they moved swiftly to consolidate their hold on the nation, anticipating possible foreign intervention. Just a few days later, Great Yan intervened in an effort to restore the Bayaliran government.
The OpFors fought fiercely, but were no match from the overwhelming airpower and firepower from the Yanese marines, even with their supplied Ursus weapons and vehicles. In the end, the OpFors fell apart after the nuclear explosion of the capital city and the rest of the fighters have surrendered, but there are rumors that some of them escaped to neighboring countries like Ibut.
Blaze gave a concerned frown at the last part. "That doesn't sound good.".
"Hopefully Yan would acknowledge the rumors and search them before they reach those countries." Hoshiguma said.
"And even if they did, the local government could also deal with the stowaways." Ch'en replied.
"So...anything more to say about the OpFor fellas?" Noir asked to everyone.
"Eh, not really. The only thing I care is that nuclear explosion and how Drudge killed his own sister." Spot spoke up.
Catapult nodded in agreement. "Despite those, nothing more interesting about these OpFor guys." Everyone seem to agree aswell with a nod.
"Well, in that case. It's time for the last section." Doctor said.
"The characters!" Blaze interjected, earning a slight glare from Greythroat.
"Yes, the characters." Amiya recited as she too was eager to see more about her character along with the rest.

Elsewhere in Columbia
After D finished reading the almanac, he and Nian left the hotel. And by "finished," it was more like Nian grew impatient with him reading the entire almanac and had to force him to stop, dragging him out of the hotel room so they could explore the city.
D had to give in as he let himself to be dragged by Nian out of the hotel. He had to admit, the scenery of the city was great. Even though the streets were busy, the night sky above made the scene more beautiful.
If he remembered correctly, the city's name was "York Apple City." And if he wasn't mistaken, it was likely a resemblance of New York City. Knowing the name, he let out a small chuckle.
"This feels more like it," Nian said. "I told you we shouldn't stay cooped up in that room reading your entire book."
"It was one of my life's works, though..." D muttered.
"Well, you can't just hole up in there like Dusk. Speaking of which, you do remind me of her in some ways."
D rubbed the back of his head. "I am a bit introverted at times, but now I'm more open to talking to people like you."
Nian gave him a smile before asking, "Did you felt a little nervous when you thought about going up to my face and hand me the tape?"
"Oh yeah, I was..." D admitted with a slight blush, making Nian chuckle. "Hey, if you were in my shoes, you'd be meeting a fictional character from one of your favorite games. Of course, I'd get nervous about what to say."
"Alright, I hear ya."
The two continued walking through the city. It was a far different experience from the towns they frequently visited in Sargon. D almost felt like he had time-traveled into a different era.
He might be in a different world than Earth, but everything in this city closely resembled it. D couldn't help but let out a sad sigh as he thought about home. He kept the expression long enough for Nian to notice.
"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked in a slightly concered tone.
D quickly dropped the expression "Um, n-nothing. Just a little tired from all the walking."
"Yeah, I'm feeling a bit tired too," Nian said as she began to look around. "Why don't we grab something to eat at one of the restaurants here?"
D glanced at where Nian was pointing. It was a fast-food restaurant called "McWendy's," which he'd seen advertised on some of the billboards. He had to admit, the food did look tasty.
With a nod, he agreed. "Sure. I'm a little hungry after walking for half an hour."
Before entering the restaurant, D made sure to summon enough Columbian dollars and gold certificates, all while remaining unseen by the public. Thankfully, Nian helped by shielding the wristband computer from any passersby.
After summoning the needed money, the two walked into the fast-food restaurant. Like any other fast-food place, the scene was quite lively. Workers were doing their best to cook food quickly, and customers were eagerly devouring their meals.
D noticed that the restaurant had automated kiosks for ordering food without needing to speak to a cashier. He remarked that Columbia is the most advanced nation in the world by far.
D and Nian went to one of the empty kiosks and began ordering their food. D opted for something simple, like a burger with fries, while Nian, of course, chose something spicy. After taking the reciept before giving to the cashier and paying it, the two head on over to their seat.
A few minutes later, their food was brought to the table, and they wasted no time digging in. As Nian enjoyed her meal, she glanced at D and noticed something on his cheek that she swore it wasn't there before.
"Hey," Nian spoke up, "What's with that mark?"
D stopped eating and glanced back at her. "My what?"
Nian used her free hand to point to her cheek, indicating the mark on his face.
Realizing what she meant, D stopped eating and slumped down a bit. "Oh, that. I'm surprised you haven't noticed earlier, heh..." He said while rubbing the mark on his cheek.
Nian raises her eyebrow at the tone of his voice. He sounded a little sad when mentioning the mark. It made her even more curious.
"Alright, I want to know what's with that mark? Did someone hit you there? And why did you sound sad for a moment?" She asked, leaning forward in demand.
D motioned her to cool down with the questions as he answered with a little sigh. "This mark right here, I got it during a pretty nasty fight back in the HQ, where me and the other watchers lived."
Nian nodded in understanding. "Which one of your fellow watchers you gotten to a fight with?"
"Oh, it wasn't one of us, no." D shook his head.
Nian raised a brow, curiosly. "Huh, then who is it?"
D went to his wristband for a moment and typed some words before taking it off and showed her the picture of the culprit who gave him the mark.
Nian observed the picture, which depicted a young-looking woman with green eyes and wavy red hair, adorned with a white flower on the left side. She wore a white top with short black sleeves, split on the left side to reveal part of her abdomen, along with red pants secured by a white belt, knee guards, black boots, and a puffy black wristlet on her left wrist.
"Her name is Devola." D explained, "She is not one of the watchers. Instead, she is one of the characters from a world called 'Nier: Automata'. It's the world where 'A' along with a few others had visited."
"Ohh." Nian acknowledged the pic in interest as D continued to explain.
"She was brought into the headquarters along with her twin sister - Popola, and other two characters being 6O and A2."
"6O and A2?" Nian points out with a raised eyebrow.
"It's part of their codenames. They and Devola with her twin, are androids."
"Woah...Rad." She remarks, "Wait, is that how you got that mark on your face because she was a machine?"
"If you can say that, yeah. Thankfully when I became a watcher, it also boosted our endurance. That's the reason why I was able to take some hits from her metallic fists."
"I see...So what made you to got into a fight with her in the first place?"
D had to let out a sigh as memories begin to flow in from that exact moment a year ago. "Well, I've had lots of disagreements with her ever since she moved in the HQ. Our first interaction wasn't even the best. After a while, we've got this animosity going on and it had resulted in Devola punching me into the face."
"Dang..." Nian cringed slightly. She couldn't imagine getting punched in the face by a robot.
"Yeah... It went on for months until one fateful day. When were having another argument, Devola was about to punch me again, but I retaliated and hit her back pretty hard," D said, sounding dejected.
"You stood up for yourself?" Nian asked.
"If you can call it that..." D muttered. "But anyway, it led to a pretty nasty fight. We were punching each other non-stop, breaking any furniture in our path. I even had to use an empty bottle on her..."
"Holy crap..." Nian said, her eyes widening in surprise as she imagined the fight between him and the 'Devola' girl. "The way you describe her, she sounds like an asshole."
D sighed again. "No, don't call her that. I was the asshole in that situation."
"Wait, what? How come?" Nian asked. "I mean, I've known you for about a week now, and I don't see any assholish behavior in you."
"Look, I don't want to say too much about it, okay? I was an asshole to her when she moved into HQ, and we got into a big fight that I've deeply regretted ever since," D said with a look of extreme guilt in his face.
"Alright then, if it makes you more comfortable." Nian nodded in understanding, before asking, "Have you atleast apologized to her?"
"Well...we don't hate eachother as we used to, but I haven't gave her a proper apology even to this day." D admitted.
"And why is that?"
"I dont' know. I'm just nervous, I guess. But there is this feeling inside me that I have to make up what I did to her back then.."
"Well if you want this feeling to go away, you should be thinking of apologizing to her back at your HQ." Nian insisted.
"I'll think about it..." He answered.
The two went back eating for a moment, amidst the somber feeling going on after explaining the mark on D's cheek.
"So... about the characters moving into HQ," Nian said, trying to brighten the mood. "Are Devola and the three androids the only ones there?"
Taking a sip of his soda, D replied, "No, there are quite a few others who also moved in. Give me a second..." He began searching for something on his wristband until he found it-a list of all the characters residing in HQ.
"There's Esdeath, a woman from the world of Akame Ga Kill, where 'K' visited and resided. Esdeath is actually one of the main antagonists in that world, acting as a general of 'the empire'."
"Seriously?" Nian chuckled in amusement. "How did K manage to get this Esdeath girl to have her reside in the HQ?"
"You can thank R for that," D said.
"One of your best friends? What did she do?" Nian asked.
"I'll explain it later," D waved it off before continuing with the list.
"Then we have Shay and Skyler. They're both dragons-of the animal kind-from the world of How to Train Your Dragon. The watchers, W and N, visited that world, met the two, and they became their pets."
"Whoa, dragons in your HQ? That must be pretty cool to see-and even cooler to have as pets."
"Not for some..." D muttered, recalling his first encounter with the two dragons, when he had to duck as they sneezed fire and accidentally caused a small forest fire. Nevertheless, he continued.
"Moving on, we have three characters from a show called Ed, Edd, n' Eddy. They came from a world called CN City. B and Q visited that world, which is where cartoon characters from different cartoon shows live together in one big city."
Nian whistled in interest at the thought of a variety of cartoon characters living in harmony. "So who are the three characters from the Ed, Edd n Eddy show you mentioned?"
"Well, the three main characters are Ed, Eddward, and Eddy."
Nian chuckled. "Of course. Care to tell me about them?"
D nodded. "I'll start with Eddy. He's the self-proclaimed leader of the Eds. He loves money obsessively, so he can be pretty greedy and selfish. Sometimes, he's viewed as a jerk, but he cares deeply for his friends and can be quite defensive when it comes to them."
"I see. Good for him."
"And then there's Eddward, but everyone calls him Double D because of the two D's in his name. He's the brains of the group since he's really smart. Just don't confuse his name with the 'other' kind of Double Ds, if you know what I mean..."
"Oh, I know what that means~" Nian said with a smirk, causing D to blush slightly.
"Moving on," he continued, "the last member of the group is Ed. He's the brawn, thanks to his strength, but he's also a kind, gentle giant who just wants everyone to be happy. If you're into comic books or horror movies, he'll become your best friend."
"Huh, sounds like a really nice guy," Nian complimented.
After explaining the Eds to her, D continued with the list. "The next candidate is Kurumi Tokisaki. She's from the world of Date a Live. Like Esdeath, she was also a major antagonist in that world. She's known as the most dangerous Spirit, having killed over 10,000 people."
Hearing this, Nian's jaw dropped in shock. "What?? And you expect me to believe she became acquainted with you watchers and now lives in the HQ? How??"
"Again, it's all thanks to R," D said with a smirk, still impressed by his best friend's ability to win people over.
"Okay, now you really need to tell me more about this R person," Nian demanded.
"Hey, hey, I'll get to that later, alright?" D assured her before returning to the list as Nian rolled her eyes.
"Now, the next candidate is a woman named Molly. She's from the world of Hazbin Hotel. You might not believe me, but that world actually takes place in Hell. However, it's not like the stories churches used to tell. Life in that Hell is surprisingly similar to normal life when you're alive."
"Really now? That's interesting." Nian noted it down as she began to think of these new concepts for a movie. "And what about this Molly girl?" She asked.
D answered, "Well, Molly isn't just any ordinary woman-she's a 7-foot-tall, pink-furred woman with spider features. In other words, she's about 222 cm tall."
"Holy crap, that tall?" Nian said in disbelief as D nodded in confirmation. She was also surprised to hear about Molly being a pink-furred spider woman. Not wanting to make any assumptions about her appearance, Nian asked, "Could you show me a picture of what she looks like?"
"Alright, give me a moment." D tinkered with his wristband before showing her the picture.
Nian observed the image and was surprised-Molly didn't look like what she had imagined. She appeared to be a humanoid spider woman with big, voluminous hair held up by a hairband, large round eyes with three spots underneath them, and she had four arms and four legs.
"Wow, she's prettier than I thought she would be." Nian complimented, acknowledging her choice of clothing too. "She could probably score someone."
"Actually she did," D answered, making Nian surprised. "She's dating one of the watchers, which is B. Turns out that she is one of his crushes in that world."
"Wow, I guess this B guy has taste, am I right?" Nian said with a smirk.
"Totally." D agreed, sharing his personal taste aswell before going back to the list.
"Finally, there's Lexa," D mentioned, bringing up the last character residing in the HQ. Though Nian was curious, she noticed that D looked a little uncertain. "...Honestly, I don't really know how to explain her. She's the most recent addition to the HQ, and I haven't spoken with her much. All I know is that she's a powerful warrior from some kind of post-apocalyptic TV show that R is a fan of."
Although disappointed by the lack of explanation, Nian nodded in understanding. "Alright then. So that's a total of... thirteen characters living in the HQ with you guys?"
"Yep," D confirmed. "We also get visitors who want to hang out or talk to the watchers they've befriended. It makes the HQ a lot more lively than it was before we arrived."
"Good to hear," Nian said before bringing up the topic on her mind. "Now, tell me how R managed to get Esdeath and Kurumi to join you guys at HQ."
"Remember how I mentioned that R has a harem of four girls?" D asked, to which Nian nodded. "Esdeath and Kurumi are two of the girls in that harem."
"I see. But how did R manage to win over two women who've killed thousands?" Nian asked, clearly intrigued.
"In Esdeath's case, I heard that R allowed herself to be captured by her when she visited that world with K and her friends. Somehow, R won Esdeath's heart and even managed to stop the Empire in the process," D explained. "As for Kurumi, it might've been a similar situation, but I wasn't given all the details."
"Damn, R is really something," Nian remarked. "Who are the other two girls in her harem?"
"6O and Lexa," D replied. "I can't explain much about Lexa, but for 6O, R told me she helped the android during her visit to the Nier world. 6O was heartbroken after being rejected, and R helped her heal from it. Eventually, 6O became her first girlfriend."
Nian nodded, smiling at the thought. "You know, despite everything you've said about R being a massive pervert, she sounds really kind and caring."
"Yeah, she really is," D agreed, smiling as well.
After they finished their meals, but still feeling a bit hungry, D got up and said, "Hey, I'll order us some desserts if you don't mind?"
"I'm down with it," Nian responded with a thumbs up. D then stood up and headed over to the kiosk to order dessert, leaving his wristband on the table.
As Nian waited for D, sipping her soda, a notification appeared on D's wristband. Curious, she took a closer look and checked who it was from. It was from the girl named Octavia, who he had mentioned before.
Curiously, Nian brought the wristband closer and clicked the notification, which took her to the messages from his contacts. She saw that Octavia had sent a picture, so Nian checked it out. The picture showed Octavia looking at the camera, still wearing her beanie with the tiara on it.
As cute as she looked, Nian wasn't focused on Octavia's appearance anymore. The picture also contained two more Liberi figures in the background-a man and a woman-who seemed to be screaming at each other. Noticing the tired frown on Octavia's face as she looked at the camera, Nian's curious smile faded into a frown as she felt pity for her.
She stared at the picture for a little too long until D returned with the desserts-two apple pies.
"Hey, I got us some apple pies and-" D stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Nian holding his wristband. "What are you doing?"
Nian snapped back to reality and turned to him. "Oh, um, you got a notification from Octavia."
D handed one of the pies to Nian and sat back down as he checked the message. His expression mirrored hers as he frowned at Octavia's situation. A moment later, more text messages appeared.
Octavia:
Hey, Dixie. Can I please hang with you?
They're literally driving me crazy...
Seeing the text, D sighed before typing a response.
I'm sorry to hear that :(But I'm still occupied with my own personal business.I know you want to get away from those two and spend time with me,but I just can't right now.
Octavia:
That's fine...
I'm the one who should be sorry for forcing you.
Just please don't forget about me.
Don't worry, I won't
After ending the message, D glanced back at Nian, who was eating her pie. She asked, "I assume those two in the background were her parents?"
"Yep." D nodded. "And for your information, they're not Liberis-they're Goetias, a type of demon from the Helluva Boss world."
"Alright, understood." Nian then asked, "So do you know much about her parents?"
"Yeah, they're Stolas and Stella Goetia," D explained. "Their marriage has been rough from the start because it was arranged, and they never loved each other. It doesn't help that Stolas is only interested in men."
"I see..." Nian nodded in understanding. "But what about Octavia?"
"Well, even though they don't love each other, they still needed an heir to continue the bloodline. One thing led to another, and out came baby Octavia. But even then, she was just a 'precautionary heir' to ensure the bloodline was safe."
"Damn, poor girl..." Nian sympathized.
D sighed. "Yeah. I still haven't told her who I really am, beyond just being a 'sinner' in her eyes. And to be honest, she's not the only one who doesn't know about the Watchers yet."
"What do you mean by that?" Nian raised an eyebrow.
"To clarify, there are Watchers like A, W, and N, who had the inhabitants of the worlds they visit aware of the Watchers and the multiverse. Then there are Z, X, K, and B, who only reveal their true identity to a select few from their respective worlds. I'm more like the latter four. I prefer to keep only a few people aware of who I am, and I plan to keep it that way when Octavia eventually finds out the truth about me."
"I see. Regarding Octavia, you should probably tell her who you really are yourself. You can't keep this secret forever." Nian suggested.
"I know... I'm just not ready yet."
"If it's that difficult, I can help you with it," Nian offered with a smile, which made D smile in return, thanking her.
D and Nian continued eating their apple pies, but their meal was interrupted when D's wristband started ringing.
D let out a groan. "Just a minute," he said to Nian before checking his wristband to see who was calling. The contact was named "Selina," but D knew exactly who it was.
He then answers the call. "Hello?"
"Hi, D!" shouted a mature female voice, making D recoil a bit.
"Whoa, keep it down, X! I'm in a public area," D said, noticing Nian's curiosity about the caller, X, who seemed to be a mature woman.
"Sorry, I just wanted to check on my lovely boy in Terra."
"X! Don't call me that!" D exclaimed, blushing as he glanced at Nian, who was smirking at the exchange.
X giggled from the other end. "And why not? It's not like you're with someone."
"Actually... I am with someone." D moved the wristband closer to Nian, who took the opportunity to greet the woman on the call.
"Hey there, Miss X," Nian said.
They both heard a gasp from X. "D! You made another friend?"
D sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose at her excitement. "Yes, X. Her name is Nian. She's the first character I met during my time here."
"Yeah, we crossed paths during my trek, and we became friends after that," Nian added.
"Oh, how lovely! I'm so happy for you, D!" X exclaimed. "Wait, does she also know who we are?"
D deadpanned. "X, wouldn't she not be talking on this call if she didn't?"
"Oh... r-right." Despite being on the call, D could practically feel her blushing in embarrassment. Both he and Nian chuckled at the thought.
"Well, nice to meet you, Miss X. You're the first of D's watcher friends whose voice I've heard," Nian said with a smile.
"The pleasure is all mine, dearie." X replied as Nian smiled at the 'dearie' part. "Though, I wouldn't call myself a friend of D's~"
"Oh god..." D muttered as he took a bite of his pie and a sip of his soda.
"Oh? Then what are ya, his lover?~" Nian teased.
The assumption made D do a spit-take, spraying soda and bits of pie onto the floor. "Excuse me??" he exclaimed, his cheeks tinged with a blush.
"Good heavens, no! Where did you even get that idea, dearie?!" X responded.
Nian giggled, "Cool off, you two. I was just messing around."
"The way you say it, it doesn't feel like it," D said, retracting the wristband from Nian as he returned to the call. "Anyway, we're doing fine, X. We've been exploring Terra for about a week now, checking out the places, visiting towns, cities, and countries."
"Ooh, sounds like fun! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your experience. I wish I was there with you though..."
"Well, you do have some personal business to handle with Z in the Witcher world, right?" D reminded her. "Speaking of which, how's Z doing?"
"She's in a duel with Geralt," X answered, and D and Nian could hear the sound of swords clashing in the background. "And I think she's getting the upper hand."
Suddenly, Z's voice came through the call, "Hey, Sel! Are you watching this? I'm about to kick Geralt's ass in this duel!"
"I am! But I'm also in a call with D!" X replied.
"Then tell D his auntie says hi!" Z shouted before diving back into the duel.
X returned to the call, "Yeah, she's doing fine."
"Good to hear..." D said, pinching the bridge of his nose as Z's "auntie" comment replayed in his mind, while Nian smirked in amusement.
"I'd love to stay longer and chat, but I don't want Katharina on my back about her silly duel. I'll see you later, D. And Nian, make sure he doesn't get into any trouble."
"I will, mom~" Nian replied with a playful tone, making D sigh and X to giggle.
"Take care, X." D said.
"You too, dearie! Bye, love youuu!" X responded before the call ended. After it ended, D turns to Nian as he knew she want some answers.
"So... that was X, huh?" Nian asked.
"Yeah. X is one of the oldest watchers, along with Z. They're in their late 30s before they got transported to become watchers," D explained. "That's why we call X the 'mom' of the group-she's always been really caring."
"That's actually pretty nice of her," Nian said, impressed. "But what was that about the whole 'boy' and 'auntie' thing?"
"Well... they're two of the watchers I've grown really close to. X and Z were like caretakers for me and everyone younger than them. I just happened to be their favorite," D admitted.
"Wow, they're like your moms or something," Nian remarked.
"Yeah, I guess..." D nodded, though he didn't want to fully admit it. "But just so you know, X and Z aren't dating or anything. They're best friends because they're the only watchers in their 30s and share a love for the Witcher world," D clarified, though he couldn't help but blush a bit at the thought.
Nian nodded in understanding, "I see...And what's about this witcher world?"
"From what I remember, the Witcher is an RPG franchise set in a fantasy world teeming with various species, monsters, and other fantastical elements," D explained. "Apparently, X and Z used to play it back on Earth when they were younger. I think there was also a TV show adaptation, but I never watched it or played the game myself."
"Must've been an interesting world when they're visiting it." Nian replied.
"Yeah, probably." He shrugged. Though he had heard some conversations from X and Z complaining about the TV show.
With nothing left to chat about, D and Nian finished their desserts and soft drinks before heading out of the restaurant. D checked the time and noticed they'd been there for nearly 30 minutes.
"Man, we've been in there for quite a while," D said, turning to Nian. "So... what do you wanna do now?"
"Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm feeling a bit tired," Nian replied.
"How about we head back to the hotel? We could explore the place a bit once we're there," D suggested.
"Yeah, that sounds good. Let's go."
They began retracing their steps, walking back to the hotel through the still-busy streets despite the late hour. As they made their way back, Nian decided to spark another conversation.
"Hey, D. Could you tell me something about Modern Warfare? Anything that comes to mind."
"Hmm..." D pondered for a moment. "Well, there's actually a reboot series going on."
"Reboot series?" Nian raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. While I've shown you and the other operators the original trilogy, the developers decided to reboot the series with a fresh take on the story, featuring new and returning characters. The original Modern Warfare was so iconic that they felt the need to reimagine it."
"Interesting," Nian responded.
"There are currently two games in the reboot trilogy," D continued. "The first one was amazing; it reignited my interest in Call of Duty. The second one was good too-though it had some flaws in the story, I still enjoyed it. My COD friends and I are eagerly waiting for the third one to drop."
"When do you think it'll be released in your home world?" Nian asked.
"The Developers usually release a new COD game around November, during the autumn season, so we've already marked our calendars to dive in as soon as it launches," D said.
"And how do you feel about the third reboot?"
"Well, there are rumors that the development was a bit rushed, but I'm hopeful the campaign will still deliver a solid experience, just like the previous ones. Modern Warfare has a strong track record with its fans."
"Alright, I hope it goes well for you and your COD friends," Nian said as the two continued their walk back to the hotel.

vi. Characters
Finally, here is the important factor of this almanac: The Characters. This content will show the detailed information of most of the characters that appeared in the MW1 storyline.
"We've already read a few of these, so we won't spoil it for you," Blaze said.
"By 'we,' you mean you," Greythroat replied.
"Whaat? You guys didn't read it at all? It was an interesting section."
"It would've been if we'd started from the beginning, before Doctor and Amiya arrived," Ch'en pointed out.
"Okay, enough of this. Let's just focus on what's in there," Hoshiguma interjected, defusing the argument as they turned their attention to the book.
"Main Characters"
- Amiya
Age: 23
Race: Cautus
Height: 154cm
Rank: Sergeant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Wounded in Action (W.I.A)
Background:
Amiya was born in Rim Billiton before moving to Victoria. In her 20s, she joined the Victorian army. Despite being an immigrant with distinct Rim Billiton features and sometimes being picked on because of it, Amiya excelled in basic training, passing her combat, physical, and mental evaluations with flying colors.
During her service, she became interested in the Rhodes Island recruitment program, particularly due to its openness to foreigners. After demonstrating her abilities gained from her time in the army, she was accepted into the Rhodes Island Special Forces.
Amiya was deployed to the 22nd Rhodes Island Regiment and relocated to a base in Connor County, where she met Bagpipe, her captain Ch'en, Dobermann, and other Rhodes Island operators.
Despite just completing basic training at the base, she was immediately deployed on a mission to intercept a cargo ship near the Bering Strait. Her performance on the mission impressed her superiors, showcasing her exceptional skills.
Her capabilities were further demonstrated during the Ursine Civil War, where she played a key role in taking down Patriot and the Reunion Movement while aiding the Loyalists in regaining control.
Amiya has always shown great care for her comrades, consistently staying by their side to help and assist them. It is said that she was devastated as she watched her comrades fall one by one, particularly during the bridge incident. Although Amiya survived the ordeal and was taken to a hospital by the Loyalists, her last haunting memory before losing consciousness was seeing Captain Ch'en being given CPR by a Loyalist soldier.
Reading the last part, Amiya and Ch'en let out a sad frown, the former thinking how she was possibly the only survivor out of the squad.
Regardless, the two along with the Doctor was left interested of the cautus' alternate self.
"We didn't know our bunny was such a badass like this, "Blaze remarked making Amiya blush a bit.
"You've grown taller." Doctor pointed out and Amiya notices it right away. She was at the same height as Kroos/
"I think she has the potential to become a future captain for Rhodes Island." Greythroat said.
"You really think so?" Amiya asked, doubtful about it.
"Come on, you are leading a whole company with hundreds of operators, save for Kal and the Doctor." Blaze pointed out. "You'll likely do fine in the sequel."
"I guess you're right. I hope the Doctor is there for me..." Amiya muttered at the last part before going to the next character.
- Ch'en
Age: 37
Height: 169cm
Rank: Captain
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Unknown
Background:
Before joining Rhodes Island, Ch'en was born in Lungmen, where her early life was marked by personal conflicts within her family. Ch'en decided to leave both her family and country behind to forge her own way.
She eventually settled in Victoria, where she met Bagpipe. The two quickly became friends and enlisted in the Victorian military together. Ch'en excelled in her training, surpassing Bagpipe and had proved her competence during a critical operation where they succesfully thwarted a terrorist attack in the Westminster district of Londinium.
Following their military service, both Ch'en and Bagpipe applied to join Rhodes Island. Ch'en's exceptional skills once again stood out, and she quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a Captain with Bagpipe as her trusted right-hand.
Though Ch'en can be strict with her subordinates, she shows genuine care for them, especially towards Amiya during their missions in the Ursine civil war.
Ch'en stared at the biography in disbelief. "I'm 37 years old in this?"
Hoshiguma chuckled, "That makes you an old hag."
Ch'en shot her a glare. "Old hags are way older than 37."
"What's the complaint? You're as old as your alternate self already," Catapult quipped with a smirk, making Ch'en snap her head in her direction.
"Now listen here, you little-"
"Okay, okay, let's all calm down, ladies," Dylan interjected, steering the conversation back to the bio. "It's interesting to see how Ch'en probably single-handedly stopped a terrorist attack in Londinium."
"Agreed," Bagpipe nodded. "Though I swear I've never heard of this Westminster in Victoria."
"It's most likely a fictional place for this universe." Spot thoughted.
"Her status seems to be unknown, so there is a chance she lived." Amiya pointed out.
"Or dead. It's a 50/50 scenario." The Doctor stated, but Amiya still hoped she lives through it.
"I wonder what had happened between her and her family?" Noir brought up, "Whatever it is, it must've been nasty till the point she wanted to leave them and move to Victoria.
Ch'en red the part again, feeling concerned of herself. She wondered if Talulah was roped into it too.
Bagpipe decide to flip to the next page as her face brighten up, "Hey, It's me!"
- Bagpipe
Age: 33
Race: Vouivre
Height: 167cm
Rank: Sergeant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A (Killed In Action)
Background:
Bagpipe came from a family of farmers and worked on the farm through her teenage years. Although she enjoyed farming, she knew it wasn't enough to fully support her family, and they wanted more for her than just a life of farming.
Determined to create a better future, she joined the military, where she met Ch'en. The two quickly became close, always looking out for each other during training, and even handling a few fights with cadets who challenged them-fights that Ch'en always won.
After completing their training and becoming part of the armed forces, Bagpipe and Ch'en decided to join Rhodes Island, where Bagpipe quickly rose through the ranks to become a Sergeant. She's known for being friendly and easygoing, especially with new recruits like Amiya. However, she also has a temper when she in a really bad mood.
Bagpipe frowned at the last part. "I'm no that easily riled," she said.
"I don't know, you were like that when we're in school." Ch'en said with a smirk.
"It was just the one time, Chenchen!" Bagpipe exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment. She then sighed before smiling, "At least the bio knows I love farming tatties."
"I do appreciate that selfless act for your family." Blaze remarked before realizing something, "Oh crap, that would mean that they would know of your death."
Few of them gave some uneasy looks at the revelation, especially how Bagpipe had died. "Damn, they must've been heartbroken." Bagpipe said.
"I heard that families from the fallen soldiers would provide tax free payment from the government," Spot stated. "But that isn't mostly the case where I'm from."
"Hopefully the government is nice enough to give them the money." Hoshiguma said.
Flipping to the next page, the next biography is the tall oni woman.
- Hoshiguma
Age: 32
Race: Oni
Height: 184cm
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A (Killed In Action)
Background:
Hoshiguma was born in Higashi, but her family eventually immigrated to Great Yan, where they settled in Lungmen. During her younger years, she discovered various interests, one of which was rap music, which she grew to love.
As she entered adulthood, Hoshiguma applied to join the Yanese military, specifically the Marine Corps. There, she met her comrades Swire, Lin, and Massey, with whom she quickly bonded. She shared her personal hobbies and tastes with them, in which Massey seem to be on the same boat.
Due to her impressive height, Hoshiguma served as the squad's heavy support, and she is known for intimidating her enemies with just her presence.
Hoshiguma smirked at the bio, "As if I don't get cooler enough. Though I don't agree with the rap music."
"You said before you listened to a few of them." Ch'en recalled.
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean it is my favorite."
"You should totally like rap, It's the best." Spot chime in.
"I'll pass." Hoshiguma said before going into the next biography. She and Ch'en let out a smile seeing that its Swire.
- Swire
Age: 31
Race: Feline
Height: 163cm
Rank: Lieutenant
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A (Killed In Action)
Background:
Swire was born in a rich family in Lungmen. While she had many business opportunities available to her due to her priviliged position, she eventually joined the Yanese marine corps.
When Swire was in her younger years, she was caught up in a bank robbery and was held hostage by one of the robbers. Fortunately, she was saved by an off-duty Yanese marine who swiftly took out the robbers, including the one holding her hostage.
Inspired by the marine's skill and bravery, she volunteerd to join the corps a few years later. Through dedication and hard work, she quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a lieutenant. During her time in the corps, she forged strong friendships with her comrades Lin, Hoshiguma, and Massey.
"Seems like a reasonable motivation," Ch'en commented.
"I can't believe she was a hostage during that. She must've been terrified," Hoshiguma said with a slight chuckle.
"Anyone would be terrified in a hostage situation, especially when they are the hostage," Spot stated.
"I know, I know. It's just funny to think of that high-and-mighty girl acting like a scared cat."
"I just realized that the off-duty marine technically set Swire on a path that led to her future death," Noir noted, causing everyone to grow uncomfortable at the thought.
"Well... It's not like he knew she'd be killed by a nuclear missile," Catapult said.
"Yeah, it's not his fault. No one could have predicted that," Bagpipe added.
"Let's just move on..." Amiya suggested, flipping to the next biography page - Lin Yuhsia.
- Lin Yuhsia
Age: 30
Height: 166cm
Rank: Sergeant
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A (Killed In Action)
Background:
Lin was born in Yan as the only daughter of Lin Kojui, a well-known politician in the Yanese government. Despite her family's status, Lin wanted to live a normal life. Eventually, she decided to join the Yanese Marine Corps, despite her father's objections. He was concerned that if she went to war, she might be killed, especially since she was the only family he had left after his wife's death.
During her time in the Marine Corps, Lin became acquainted with Swire and Hoshiguma. She excelled in her training and was known for following direct orders without question, which greatly boosted her efficiency in the corps. However, her squad leader, Swire, sometimes took advantage of this trait.
"That's Swire for ya," Hoshiguma remarked with a knowing smile.
Ch'en added, "So her father was against her joining the military? Makes sense why we heard him promising Lin she'd come back in one piece."
"That means... he must've been devastated to learn his daughter was among the casualties," the Doctor pointed out, causing everyone to frown in pity. It dawned on them that all 30,000 marines who perished in the nuke had families or loved ones back home.
"Man... as if the nuke wasn't already horrific with the destruction and the death toll..." Blaze muttered, shaking her head.
"It's part of war, but at least those who died from it can have their bodies retrieved and buried properly..." Spot said, somberly recalling how some marines might have been vaporized, including the NEST teams.
After a moment of silence, Amiya went to the next biography, that being Nine.
- Nine
Age: 33
Race: Phidia
Height: 177cm
Rank: Sergeant
Affiliation: Ursine Loyalist Army
Status: Alive
Background:
Nine was born in Yan and spent her early years there before moving abroad to study in Ursus. During her time in Ursus, she developed a deep appreciation for the country, becoming fascinated by its culture and forming close friendships. Eventually, she decided to settle in Ursus.
When the country teetered on the brink of civil war due to the rise of Ultranationalists, Nine enlisted in the army, siding with the Loyalists to defend the current government against radical rebels intent on causing destruction. Despite facing prejudice due to her Yanese origins, she proved herself to be a capable soldier, eventually rising to lead her own squad.
"This alternate version of her sure likes Ursus," Ch'en observed.
"Well, it explains why she's in the Ursine Loyalist army despite being Yanese," Hoshiguma replied. "I respect the decision."
"And she earned that respect from those who judged her because of her origins. They must've been humbled," Bagpipe added.
As Amiya flipped to the next biography, she smiled and turned to the Doctor. "Look, Doctor, it's Dr. Kal'tsit."
- Kal'tsit
Age: 48 (In Luscinia 1999)
Race: Feline
Height: 169cm
Rank: Captain
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Alive
Background:
Kal'tsit was once a captain in the 22nd regiment and acted as Ch'en's mentor during her time in Rhodes Island. She and Ch'en were assigned to assassinate Patriot who was in Chernobog at the time.
After assuming Patriot would die of blood loss from losing his arm, Kal'tsit was then injured when they were making their escape out of Chernobog, though they ultimately succeeded in escaping. Unfortunately, their mission was deemed a failure, as Patriot survived the injury and continued his activities.
After the events in Chernobog, Kal'tsit transitioned away from active field duty sometime between 2000 and 2001. She was promoted to a higher rank within Rhodes Island, stepping back from direct operations. As she moved on from the field, Ch'en was promoted to captain of the 22nd Regiment, taking over the leadership role Kal'tsit once held.
"It would've been interesting to see Kal'tsit again," Amiya mused.
"Maybe we will in the sequel or even in the third installment," the Doctor replied.
"There's a good chance," Ch'en agreed. "I wonder what rank she was promoted to?"
"Well, it must be something that keeps her out of active field duty," Hoshiguma speculated. "Maybe a director of operations in Rhodes Island?"
"I'd hate to be in their shoes after narrowly escaping the city, fighting through hundreds of soldiers, only to find out the target survived," Blaze remarked.
"They were probably pissed," Dylan added, and several heads nodded in agreement.
After reading her bio, they went to the next one in which Bagpipe remarked, "Speak of the devil."
- Buldrokkas'tee/Patriot
Age: 62
Race: Sarkaz
Height: 195cm
Rank:
- Colonel (formerly)
- Chairman
Affiliation:
- Ursine Army (formerly)
- Ursus Ultranationalist Party
- Reunion Movement
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Patriot was once part of the Imperial army of Ursus during the cold war. His deep love for his nation and unwavering patriotism earned him the codename "Patriot." Understandably, he was devastated and enraged when his beloved country lost the Cold War against Great Yan, leading to the collapse of the empire and the loss of significant territories to peripheral states.
Despite his disillusionment, Patriot continued to serve in the Ursus military. However, his disdain for the new government of the Ursus Federation grew over time. He viewed them as weak, submissive to Yanese influence. Even worse is when the federation had to endure various internal disputes and insurrections, one of the most significant being in Chechen, where he and his brigade were deployed.
The Chechen insurrection was the breaking point for Patriot. A year after the conflict, he and his army went AWOL, retreating into hiding across the countryside. After creating the Guerrilla Army, Patriot spent years building its influence and forging alliances with other factions that despised the government.
He even sought to hire mercenaries from peripheral states like Luscinia, but the plan nearly cost him his life in an assassination attempt that left him without an arm. Fortunately, two of his soldiers quickly came to his aid and managed to escape the scene, to which they were rewarded afterwards.
When the Federation became embroiled in too many internal issues, Patriot allied with the Ultranationalist Party, eventually rising to become its leader. He reformed his Guerrilla Army and allied forces into the party's paramilitary wing, which became known as the Reunion Movement.
"Now we know why he's so determined to make Ursus great again," Ch'en remarked.
"I almost feel bad for him," Hoshiguma added, causing Ch'en and a few others to glance at her. "What? I said almost."
"We also ken how he survived that assassination. Even if he's the enemy, I've got respect for those two soldiers who stood by their leader," Bagpipe complimented, whilst wondering what kind of reward they got.
"You have to admit, though, the new Ursus government sounds like a complete mess," Blaze chimed in. "Especially with all those insurrections breaking out just a few years after the Federation was created."
"I'm impressed that Patriot managed to become both the leader of the party and the army," Noir commented.
"It's strange how he's a Sarkaz yet so patriotic for a country dominated by Ursus people," Dylan said.
"Consider he is born from Kazdel aswell." Amiya stated, thanks to the information by Kal'tsit. "But since this AU has him born from Ursus, it doesn't really matter if he's of a different race. Nationally, he'll always be an Ursine."
The Doctor then decide to go to the next biography, and their heart skipped a beat seeing that it is Frostnova.
- Yelena
Age: 26
Race: Cautus
Height: 171cm
Rank: Commander
Affiliation: Reunion Movement
Status: K.I.A (via suicide)
Background:
Before becoming the commander of the Reunion army, Yelena was once a young 9-year-old girl living in her home province of Chechen. However, tragedy struck when the Militia staged an insurrection against the Ursus authorities, brutally killing anyone who wasn't loyal to their cause. Unfortunately, her family were part of them.
Orphaned and alone, Yelena wandered aimlessly for days until she encountered Patriot and the 23rd Brigade, who had been sent to the province to quell the uprising. After hearing her story, Patriot took pity on the young Cautus and decided to take her in, accompanying her until the insurrection was finally crushed.
When Patriot decided to adopt Yelena, she couldn't have been happier. She followed him closely over the years, even when he and his brigade went AWOL to form their own army. Patriot instilled in Yelena the belief that the Ursus government was to blame for the death of her family during the insurrection. He argued that if the government had been more competent, the militia would never have risen up, and her parents might still be alive.
Driven by this belief, Yelena began training from a young age, determined to fight for a better Ursus. Her dedication and resolve eventually earned her the position of commander within the Reunion Movement.
"Poor Yelena." The Doctor said with a frown hidden under the mask.
"I can see why she was very loyal to Patriot in this universe." Blaze replied
"Orphaned at a young age is such a horrible way to live out your childhoold." Noir remarked.
"Atleast she found Patriot who took her in quick." Yato said.
"I dinnae agree wi' his argument about how the government would stop the militia's uprising," Bagpipe commented. "They likely still want tae be an independent country in the province, even if the government was competent."
Ch'en nodded in agreement, "True. It goes the same with the Tarans in Victoria."
Amiya flip to the final biography of the major characters, which is Drudge.
- Drudge Tulla
Age: 48
Height: 173cm
Rank: Commander
Affiliation: "OpFor"
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Drudge Tulla was a former commander of the Bayaliran Army. Like Patriot, he was fiercely patriotic and despised his country being easily influenced by Yan, believing that Yan was turning his nation into a puppet state.
He had also despised his sister way back from their younger years, but now he grew to loathe her when she became the president and maintain the relations with the Yanese overlords. Drudge saw her actions as a betrayal of the nation and its people.
Drudge worked long and hard with his army to plan on a coup de'tat against the government. Eventually, he reached out to Patriot and the Ultranationalists, finding common ground in their shared resentment of Yan's influence and weakness of their government. This alliance led to a collaboration where Patriot provided Drudge's army with Ursine weapons and equipment, including tanks and jets, to aid in the planned coup.
"So that's how he manage to take over the country." Doctor said, "He and Patriot do share the same views."
"They seem to hate how Yan is influencing their country." Ch'en added.
"In Bayalir's case, they really are influencing them, given that they are trusted allies." Hoshiguma replied.
"On another note, he really hates his sister." Noir remarked.
"That's what Rangers told us during his mission when he met the rainbow operators." Yato said.
"He must've been an asshole there like we saw him here in the MW world." Dylan commented.
With the major characters finished, they moved on to the supporting characters.
"Supporting Characters"
- Dobermann
Age: 34
Race: Perro
Height: 163cm
Rank: Lieutenant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Dobermann was a seasoned operator in Rhodes Island, originally hailing from Bolivar, a nation embroiled in an internal conflict between the Singas and the Coalition government. This dispute eventually led to the rise of the 'True Bolivarians,' a group that opposed both governments, which were seen as products of foreign influence.
When Dobermann came of age, she enlisted in the military, siding with the Coalition. However, as time passed, she became disillusioned with all three factions, realizing that none of them were truly working to make Bolivar a better place. Disheartened, she left her homeland and immigrated to Victoria where she eventually joined the Rhodes Island Special Forces.
During her time in Rhodes Island, she became the instructor for new recruits through a strict regimen emphasizing discipline. Despite that, she is respected by the regiment.
"She joins the special forces only to get 'demoted' to a lieutenant," Catapult joked with a snicker, recalling how she used to be a colonel in Bolivar.
"Demoted or not, she's still as strict as ever with the recruits," Dylan remarked.
"That just shows the respect she commands," Bagpipe added. "That's pretty common in the military."
"Not always..." Spot muttered.
They turned to the next page, revealing Sesa's biography.
- Sesa
Age: 33
Race: Vouivre
Height: 189cm
Rank: Corporal
Affiliaton: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Sesa was born into a wealthy family in Sargon, but he became entangled in an illegal arms trade alongside his brother. Together, they sold and modified weapons on the black market, catering to the highest bidder. However, during one such business trip in Victoria, things went horribly wrong, leading to his brother's death and Sesa's eventual arrest by Victorian authorities. He was sentenced to a decade in prison, but his family, upon learning of the incident and his brother's demise, paid his bail. Though they secured his release, they were deeply disappointed in him, leaving Sesa burdened with guilt and shame.
Determined to turn his life around, Sesa decided to stay in Victoria and even married a woman, but the relationship eventually ended in divorce. He then joined the Rhodes Island Special Forces, where he quickly became known for his expertise in demolitions, proving himself to be a capable and valuable soldier.
"Wow, he sure had a hard life," Blaze remarked. "But I'm glad he turned things around."
"I wouldn't say the same for his marriage, though," Dylan pointed out.
"At least he found joy in Rhodes Island as a demolitions expert," Greythroat added.
"I wonder how rich his family is..." Spot mused about his fellow Sargonian.
"If they could pay off his prison bail in this alternate universe, I'd say very rich," Bagpipe answered.
As they flipped to the next biography, Noir let out a remark, "Well, well, well, look who it is," causing Yato to roll her eyes.
- Yato
Age: 30
Race: Oni
Height: 161cm
Rank: Lieutenant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Yato was born in Higashi and started her career as an assassin for a powerful gang organization. During one of her assignments, she crossed paths with Noir, an assassin from a rival gang, both targeting the same individual. After a brief clash over who would take the kill, they came to a mutual understanding that their work for the gangs was futile and morally bankrupt.
Deciding they no longer wanted to be tools for killers, Yato left the gang and attempted to join the Higashian Defense Force. However, due to her criminal background, the government rejected her application. Realizing that her past would continue to haunt her in Higashi, Yato chose to leave the country with Noir. They immigrated to Victoria, where they both joined Rhodes Island's special forces, seeking a new path and purpose.
"Not too far off from what happened." Yato said while musing the thought of how D managed to know of her past.
"Yeah, kinda scary. But hey, It's just like old times." Noir remarked. When they went to the next biography, Noir smiled from under his mask since it is his turn.
- Noir Corne
Age: 32
Race: Oni
Height: 180cm
Rank: Sergeant
Affiliation:
Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Noir Corne was born in Higashi and initially worked as an assassin for a gang organization. During one of his missions to eliminate a target, he encountered Yato, who was after the same person. After a brief fight, Noir was defeated by her, but instead of finishing him off, Yato suggested that their work for the gangs was morally wrong. Realizing the truth in her words, Noir agreed, and the two decided to leave their respective gangs.
Noir tried to start anew by becoming a security guard, but like Yato, he was rejected due to his criminal background and ties to a notorious gang. Fearing for his safety and knowing that the gang might come after him, he and Yato decided to leave Higashi altogether. They eventually joined the Rhodes Island Special Forces in Victoria, where they found a new purpose.
It had been a good decision for Noir, as he formed strong friendships with Dylan, Barty, and Chard. Though they occasionally tease him about his relationship with Yato, often assuming they are more than just comrades
Noir frowned by the last part. "Did they really have to add this...?"
"Heh, come on, Noir. It's pretty obvious you two are meant to be," Blaze quipped, earning chuckles from the group-except for Yato, who was blushing with embarrassment.
"Like I've said before, we're just close friends," Noir insisted, trying to hide his own blush.
"Ahh, keep telling yourself that, ya goof," Catapult teased, clearly not convinced.
"Gotta agree. If you love her, just confess," Spot added with a slight smirk.
"Can we just move on to the next biography, please?" Noir suggested to Amiya, his voice tinged with frustration. Amiya nodded, feeling a bit sorry for him amid the teasing, and turned the page to the next biography-Dylan, the pilot.
- Dylan
Age: 28
Rank: Second Lieutenant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Alive
Background:
Dylan was a skilled pilot in Rhodes Island's 22nd regiment, widely regarded as a professional in his field. During a critical mission involving a cargo ship, he demonstrated exceptional flying abilities by maneuvering his aircraft through a heavy storm while remaining undetected. His aircraft of choice was the UH-60 Blackhawk, affectionately named "Bad Guy," which he equipped with a substantial arsenal of missiles for close air support.
Throughout his time in the regiment, Dylan formed strong bonds with his comrades, including Barty, Chard, and the two Higashian Onis, Yato and Noir Corne. His expertise and camaraderie made him a valuable asset to his team.
"Couldn't be further from the truth." Dylan said with a smile but then noticed some missing details, "Hmm, I wonder why I don't have a height and race in the bio?"
"Maybe it's because you weren't present physically." Noir answered.
"Yeah, you were only present in the helicopter." Yato added.
"Seems reasonable." Dylan acknowledged with a nod.
Continue on to the next biography, It is Chard's turn.
- Chard
Age: 27
Race: Lupo
Height: 176cm
Rank: Private
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Chard was a seasoned operator with Rhodes Island, having previously served as an average soldier in the Victorian military. He once had a wife and a daughter whom he loved dearly, but his marriage eventually fell apart, leading to a divorce and the painful separation from his daughter.
Despite the deep depression that followed, Chard found solace in the camaraderie of his fellow operators at Rhodes Island. He came to trust and rely on them as his new family. His skills and resolve were put to the test when he accompanied his squad on the high-stakes cargo mission, proving his worth and solidifying his place among the regiment.
"Even in an alternate universe, Chard is still a divorced man." Noir said, shaking his head.
"I actually feel bad for him." Yato replied.
"I don't know what's on his wife's mind for leaving a man like him." Dylan said.
"Well, I'm glad he is still find happinness from you guys." Blaze said, making Noir and Dylan to smile proudly. "There is a saying, "Bros before hoes'.
"Yes sir." Noir agreed, though had to take a glance at Yato who was deadpanning at him, "Well, sometimes..."
After Chard, the next biogrpahy on the list is Barty.
- Barty
Age: 28
Height: 175cm
Rank: Private
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Before joining Rhodes Island, Barty was a simple man running a shop in Leithanien with his relatives. However, after a while, he decided to pursue a bigger goal. He eventually settled in Victoria and joined the Rhodes Island Special Forces, where he met his comrades Dylan, Chard, and Noir.
Even while being away from home, Barty frequently sent messages to his relatives back in Leithanien to let them know he was doing well and making good progress. Each time he received his pay, he sent a generous amount back to his relatives to help support their business.
"Wow, they made him such a generous guy," Dylan remarked.
"And I thought his real self was already nice enough," Noir added.
"So, is Barty actually from Leithanien?" Yato asked.
"I don't think so..." Dylan replied, though he couldn't give a clear answer. "He doesn't usually talk about his personal life that much. But he has been there a few times thanks to his expeditions with Eyjafjalla."
"Fair enough."
As they flipped to the next page, they found that the next biography was about Closure.
- Closure
Age: 36
Race: Sarkaz
Rank: First Lieutenant
Affiliation: Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Alive
Background:
Closure was a Rhodes Island operator, going by the name 'Baseplate', who served as the director of operations for the 22nd Regiment. In addition to her leadership role, she also acted as the regiment's mechanic, excelling in repairing broken vehicles, including aerial ones.
Although Closure was capable of fighting due to her military experience, she was rarely deployed in the field because of her critical role at the base. Instead, she provided essential support to field operators, offering vital information during operations, especially for extractions and exfiltrations.
"I'm surprised how minor her role felt in the entire story." Doctor remarked, given they know that Closure is one of the founders of Rhodes Island. Then again, they still don't know if they themselves would appear in the series.
"Well you could say the same for Kal'tsit, since she only appeared in a flashback mission." Amiya said, then asked. "Do you think she would appear again?"
"Maybe." was the Doctor's answer, even if they were unsure of it. They then flip to the next page as they entered the bios for the Yanese Marines, starting with FEater.
- FEater
Age: 30
Race: Ursus
Height: 161cm
Rank: Captain
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A
Background:
FEater was a helicopter pilot in the Yanese marine corps, renowned for her skill in flying attack helicopters alongside her partner, Keating. Before her military career, she worked as an actor in action films, where she excelled in kung-fu, a discipline she trained extensively in and continued as a hobby.
After a few years in the film industry, FEater lost interest in acting and decided to retire from the profession. Seeking a new challenge, she joined the military and discovered a passion for aviation, particularly piloting aircraft.
"Never thought I'd see an actor become a soldier," Bagpipe said.
"It's not surprising. Soldiers come from all sorts of backgrounds," Ch'en replied.
"I can relate to FEater in this universe," Dylan remarked, noting their shared interest in piloting aircraft.
"I wonder if her kung fu skills would still be effective on the battlefield," Blaze mused.
"It won't do much when everyone has guns," Spot bluntly stated.
"Only for close quarters," Blaze clarified.
"Maybe, but they still have guns."
"Fine, fine. Just wondering," Blaze mumbled.
The operators then turned to the next page, which covered Massey's biography.
- Massey
Age: 29
Race: Perro (Anthro)
Height: 179cm
Rank: Private, later Corporal
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Massey was a Yanese marine that took part in the liberation of Bayalir and the Ursus Civil War. Before that, he was an average man in Lungmen that lived with his parents for over two decades. Massey had applied to a lot of jobs, but he always failed them. The only option he has is to join the military.
While Massey wasn't fond of it, he proved to be an exceptional soldier in training. He even manage to be close friends with Hoshiguma as the two shared similar interest and hung out more often. Some say he even has a little crush on her.
"Oh, well that's surprising," Hoshiguma commented, raising an eyebrow at the last part.
Blaze smirked, "Don't you have a little crush on Massey after seeing him in the story?"
Hoshiguma quickly shook her head, "No, I-I just think he's good-looking, that's all." Ch'en glanced at her with a raised brow, clearly amused.
"Well, Franka seems to agree on that," Bagpipe chimed in, recalling how Franka always seemed to enjoy the sight of Massey whenever she saw him.
"He does look kinda handsome," Spot admitted, even though he wasn't interested, he could still appreciate the looks of a fellow anthromorphic Terran.
"Yep. If he were real, I might try to score him~," Catapult added with a playful tone, causing both Spot and Hoshiguma to glance at her with slightly weirded expressions.
"Okay...let's move on," the Doctor said, eager to change the subject. They flipped to the next biography of the Yanese marines-this time, it was Roycewicz.
- Roycewicz
Age: 25
Race: Feline
Height: 175cm
Rank: Private
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Roycewicz was born in Rim Billiton to a family of miners. After years of hard work, his family saved enough funds to leave the country and immigrate to Yan, eventually settling in Lungmen. Seeking new opportunities and driven by a sense of duty, Roycewicz decided to join the Yanese military, enlisting in the Marine Corps.
During his training, he met fellow recruits Gaines and Lopez. The three quickly formed a strong bond, sharing their experiences and challenges as immigrants adjusting to life in Yan. Roycewicz also connected with Hoshiguma and Massey through their shared appreciation for music; while rap wasn't his favorite genre, he enjoyed discussing and exploring it alongside them
"Huh, interesting to see a fellow rim billy." Amiya said, with anyone not noticing that she pulled an accent right there.
"Makes sense why he's not from Yan, given his name," Ch'en replied, nodding thoughtfully.
"Same goes for Lopez and Gaines. Them being immigrants in Yan definitely adds up," Hoshiguma added.
"It is nice to see him getting along with the other two marines," Bagpipe commented, referring to Lopez and Gaines. After Roycewicz, they began to read Lopez's bio.
- Lopez
Age: 27
Race: Lupo
Height: 174cm
Rank: Private
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Lopez was born in Bolívar before immigrating to Yan. He initially worked as a mechanic at a car dealership, but he often struggled with the language barrier, which led to confusion among his Yanese coworkers. Frustrated by the difficulties, he eventually quit the job and decided to join the military.
Lopez applied to the marine corps, where he met fellow comrades Gaines and Roycewicz. Though he continued to work on his Yanese, he found camaraderie with Gaines and Roycewicz, as they were also immigrants and understood his challenges.
"He must've been a real headache for his mechanic coworkers," Catapult quipped, grinning.
"I don't blame him," Yato replied. "It takes a lot of work to memorize a foreign language, especially when you're an immigrant in that country."
"Agreed," Ch'en nodded, recalling her own challenges while studying in Victoria. "It's tough to adapt."
With Lopez's biography finished, they turned the page to read about the third marine-Gaines.
- Gaines
Age: 25
Race: Liberi
Rank: Private
Affiliation: Yanese Marine Corps
Status: K.I.A
Background:
Gaines was born in Columbia but later immigrated to Yan with his siblings in search of a better life. While his siblings found various civilian jobs, Gaines chose a different path by joining the military, determined to grow stronger and make a meaningful impact.
This decision proved to be one of his best, as he met his comrades Lopez and Roycewicz, with whom he quickly bonded. Gaines often invited them to meet his siblings, and during one of these gatherings, his sister developed a small crush on Lopez, adding a personal touch to their camaraderie.
"Man, I can't imagine how his siblings must've felt when he perished in that nuclear explosion," Noir said, shaking his head.
"How did he die again?" Dylan asked.
"I think he was thrown out of the chopper, and Lin tried to save him," Ch'en recalled, her memory vivid with the image of his last desperate cry of 'No!' before the fall.
"He must've died from the fall," Amiya speculated, her tone somber.
"Well, if there's a bright side to it, he at least suffered a more painless death than being exposed to the nuclear strike," Catapult remarked.
"Yeah, but it would've been hard to give him a proper burial like the others," Spot added, the weight of the situation sinking in.
With Gaines's biography finished, they turned to the next one-Folinic.
- Folinic
Age: 34
Rank: Senior Sergeant (In the Ursine army)
Affiliation:
Loyalists
Rhodes Island Special Forces
Status: Alive
Background:
Folinic was an Ursine loyalist that acted as an informant for Rhodes Island. When the civil war broke out, Folinic sided with the government loyalsits but joined the ultranationalsits as an informant. She would provide the loyalists valuable intel that would give them an upper hand in the war.
However, her espionage was eventually discovered, leading to her capture by the Reunion Movement. She was detained and sent to a village where she was scheduled for execution. Fortunately, Rhodes Island intervened just in time, rescuing her and escorting her to Wolumonde, Leithanien. She now hopes to reunite with her mother once the war is over.
"I hope she can make a return in the sequel," Amiya said thoughtfully. "I honestly didn't expect Folinic to have such a minor role in the story."
"Yeah, especially in that section where the helicopter was shot down in Reunion territory," Blaze added. "I remember she barely had any lines."
"Maybe they forgot to give her more lines," Spot joked.
"I wouldn't say minor since she did gave out the location for Drudge Tulla." Hoshiguma said.
"Yeah, but other than that, she felt like in the background." Blaze replied.
"I have to say, her undercover work was impressive," Doctor remarked. "But it was also extremely risky, almost costing her life."
"Good thing we saved that little mongoose," Bagpipe chimed in with a smile.
With that, they turned to the final biography: Kevin.
- Kevin
Age: 26
Race: Ursine
Height: 177cm
Rank: Corporal
Affiliation: Loyalists
Status: Alive
Background:
Kevin was a loyalist soldier who fought valiantly against the ultranationalists during the civil war. He had joined the military a few years before the conflict, following in his father's footsteps. When the war broke out, personal tragedy struck as his father, who was a commander in the military at the time, was assassinated from his hotel room by Ultranationalists with a rocket launcher.
Heartbroken after the loss of a family member, Kevin was determined to stop the ultranationalists and the Reunion Movement from taking Ursus and avenge his father. During the war, he become Nine's best and most trusted soldier of her squad. With his capabilities, she assigned him to assist Rhodes Island on assassinating Drudge in Kazimierz.
"I wonder what his father was like if the rebels needed to use a freaking rocket launcher to take him out," Catapult mused.
"Whatever he did, that's one hell of a way to go," Spot remarked.
"This Kevin guy must've really trained hard," Noir added, recalling the mission in Kazimierz where Kevin was present and managed to make it out alive. "I can see why Nine chose him."
"Well, with him covered, I think we're done here," Amiya said, noticing they had reached the end of the characters section in the almanac. She turned to the last page, where she found another message from D.
Hey there, looks like you made it to the end. Hooray!
Anyways, that's all I have for now in this almanac. But like I said before, this almanc is currently being updated while you're reading it. I'll release it to you all as soon as I can.
Just hope you watched the second and third installment before I released it...
Take care, Rhodes Island!
-- D
"I'm still not sure how he's going to update it, but I'm very excited," Blaze said with a smile. "Can't wait to see my character in it, just like in the sequel."
"You really think he'll add you in, huh?" Greythroat asked.
"I'm an important figure around here; of course I'll be included."
"I'm even more intrigued by this alternate world because of the Almanac," the Doctor said. "There are so many events that differ from our world."
"Indeed. But some of the results are shocking, like the casualty rate in the two global wars," Amiya replied.
"That's just war in general," Ch'en said, shaking her head at the thought of those wars. "But it's concerning how destructive people can be just to kill each other."
"Let's just hope no one out there plans on making those nuclear missiles," Hoshiguma said, before muttering, "Unless they get their hands on one of D's almanacs."
"Speaking of this D person, I feel a little concerned about him," Yato said.
"How come?" Noir asked.
"Well, they seem to know what happened between you and me during the civil war. And the Almanac summarized how we met and got out of there," Yato explained.
She was right. Not only does D know about Yato and Noir's past, but he also seems to know about everyone at Rhodes Island.
While it was concerning, there was no need to dwell on it as Amiya spoke up, "It's true. But let me remind you that this D person is also friends with Nian. Since we're also close to Nian, I'd say this D may not have bad intentions. It's possible that Nian told D a few, or maybe a lot, of things about us and Rhodes Island."
Coming to an understanding, Ch'en replied, "I trust your word, Amiya."
"Yeah. Someday, I'd like to meet this D guy-or gal," Blaze added.
After a moment of conversation, Amiya began to stand up. "Anyway, it's been a fun reading session with you all, but we've got to go," she said.
The Doctor nodded in agreement, getting up as well as they glanced at the clock. "Yes, we've been here for about... two hours now."
Ch'en's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, two hours? It didn't even feel like it."
"That's what happens when you're too hooked into something," Hoshiguma added with a chuckle. "Anyway, I'm heading out as well. Take care." The Oni woman heads out of the library with Ch'en following her.
"Same here," Greythroat said, rising from her seat.
"Aw, really? You won't stay a while longer to talk more about the Modern Warfare world?" Blaze asked, gesturing to Noir, Yato, Dylan, Spot, and Catapult, who seemed ready to continue the discussion.
"Since when did we agree on that?" Greythroat questioned.
"Before we all started reading the almanac," Dylan replied casually.
"Then no," the grey-haired Liberi declined, already heading for the door. Blaze muttered under her breath about how she could be no fun.
"Ooh, I'll join ye in this blether about the MW world," Bagpipe chimed in, looking very interested in the subject. "I still want tae talk about how Victoria got beaten so easily in the Second Global War and how it was liberated."
Noir gave her a thumbs up. "Alrighty, the more, the merrier."
"Okay, we'll be heading out." the Doctor said, getting ready to leave.
"Have fun," Amiya waved to the remaining seven operators, a few of them waving back, before she and the Doctor exited the library.
As they walked down the hallway, the Doctor asked, "Hey, Amiya, do you remember the schedule? Where's Rhodes Island heading next?"
Amiya thought for a moment before recalling, "I think we're making a stop in Lungmen. It'll probably take us a few days to get there."
"Good to know," the Doctor replied.
Then Amiya asked, "Say, Doctor, when we get to Lungmen, do you think we should continue with the second installment of the MW universe?"
"If we have enough free time, I'd say we should," the Doctor answered. "Besides, I'm curious to see what happens in the sequel, especially what your alternate self's going to do."
"Yeah, me too," Amiya agreed with a nod.
======================
Here's a little trivia about all the fictional Continents and Countries in the almanac
(Note: Some of them may not be accurate)
Continents (Except Sargon):
- Vorisia: The name is latin for 'North', which makes sense geographically.
- Sinoa: From the term 'Sino' that resembles the Chinese.
- Uropa: Europe, nuff said
- Espania: Spanish word for Spain, given that Iberia is in that continent
- Osea: A name I took from Ace Combat.
- Vasa: Samoan for Ocean
- Daimon: Latin for Demon
Countries:
- Luscinia (Ukraine): You already know that it is Latin for Nightingale, which is Ukraine's national bird
- Chrysae (Kazakhstan): Shorten version of the latin name 'Aquila Chrysaetos' which is the Golden Eagle, national bird of Kazakhstan
- Lefkorosia (Belarus): The name Lefkorosia is from the Greek translation of Belarus
- Cataluna (Catalonia): It's independent in this universe lolz
- Lammergeier (Andorra): Lammergeier is the national bird of Andorra
- Saudia (Saudi Arabia): Nuff said again
- Arsaces (Iran): Name is based on the first and second king of the Arscaid Dynasty, which had Iran in its territory
- Inamo (Oman): Omani but backwards
- Cartago (Tunisia): Portuguese for Carthage that was located in Tunisia.
- Tocorora (Cuba): The name is from the national bird of Cuba
- Rico Islands: It is a combination of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands (excluding Cuba)
- Guinean (Papua New Guinea): No explanation here.
And for the capital cities of Kordon and Khisba:
- Kordon: "Border" in Ukrainian, which is the name meaning of Ukraine
- Khisba: "Fertile" in Arabic, which is the name meaning of Iraq
(Also, the name 23rd Brigade is because Patriot's birthday is in December 23rd)
This took me months to make, lmao. It's now the chapter with the most word count (currently) in over 20,000, almost hitting 25k. I always say to myself 'I'm wasting my time with this' but I cannot let my creative mind give up.
Also the setting for this book take place around April-May 2023, which is before the release of MWIII. And speaking of which, the campaign sucks ass. Probably the most boring campaign I've seen. Thanks a bunch, Sledgehammer games.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this info-dump of chapter of the alternate MW world of Terra along with more of the stuff between D. This almanac interlude will continue on until the third game.
See you in "Modern Warfare 2: S.S.D.D"
(P.S. I've already finished the gameplay sections at the time of making this interlude. So expect the chapter to come sooner)
