The Birth of The Heartbeat

It has been stormy since a month.

It was like nature was in turmoil and was waiting for someone to soothe her troubled soul.

A chariot ran in high speed carrying two people in it. They have been traveling since past two days. Trying to reach as early as possible.

If someone saw them from distance they would not find any difference in the two godly persona residing in the chariot.

But the reality is different.

The elder of the two wore a navy blue Dhoti and navy blue angavastram. He carried a plough on his left hand and was very agitated at the precise moment.

"Faster Daruka" he said.

"The horses are at there maximum Prince" The charioteer replied

"We have to reach Mathura by tomorrow" he intoned again.

"We will Baldau" said the second person.

Balram turned to look at his younger sibiling to find him calm and just staring at the passing scenery with serenity.

"How can you be so calm Kanha?" Baldau asked agitation clearly visible.

"Dau..." Krishna whined "Trust me everything will be fine.."

"You know who we are talking about right?" Baldau asked

"Yes Dau I very well know who we are talking about" Said Kanha giving him a smile.

14 hours.

That was how much time she had been in labor pain. No matter how much long breaths she took but the pain was uncontrollable.

She was not just screaming at the top of her lungs. If their was any other highest measuring scale for voice then she was screaming in that voice.

"Just a few more push jiji" Devaki held her hand and with the other she was rubbing her forehead to soothe her.

"Devaki...Devaki..." She moved her hands pulling her closer to herself.

"Yes Rohini jiji...I am right here Jiji" Devaki assured.

"Listen to me Devaki " she took a large gulp of breath

"Yes Jiji"

"Promise me...promise me that you will never let Arya touch you when you are alone...Promise me Devaki.." Rohini nearly shouted as the next bout of contraction started.

"Jiji.." Devaki exclaimed blushing.

The midwives and her assistants also had a small smile on their face listening to Rohini.

"Oh Devaki...how did you survive seven child births..its so painful.." Tears rolled down from Rohini eyes.

"Its all over Jiji..just some more time..." Devaki tried to soothe her by caressing her head

"Its before time" said the midwife tensed"Child's head is visible...You need to push Maharani Rohini..."

"Push Jiji..Push.." Devaki beckoned

"Ahh...AHHH" Rohini screamed while pushing the baby out

Rohini was exhausted. She couldn't push anymore.

Her vision was blurring.

Devaki was giving slow slaps to her cheeks to keep her awake

"No maharani...just one more push the child is half out..Just one more push..." The midwife exclaimed

"Don't let her sleep Maharani Devaki...The umbilical cord is circled around the child's neck...we need to pull out the child as early as possible or else the child will die..." midwife's worrying voice alarmed Devaki..

"Jiji...just one more push..Jiji.." Devaki said while trying to wake Rohini up.

But Rohini was lost to oblivion.

Road to Mathura

"Kanha" Baldau exclaimed

"Daruka move the chariot faster" he said frantically.

"Kanha.." Baldau turned only to find Kanha standing still staring ahead.

They could see Mathura at a distance.

Winds were howling heavily.

Daruka had hit the horses harder. The chariot jumped over a stone and the wheel stuck to a hole in the ground.

The artificial bell atop the hoisted flag hit a tree branch and

CLANG!!

CLANG!!

Guru Ashram near Hastinapur

A boy stood atop a stone blindfolded with a bow and arrow in his hand.

He had been listening very keenly for the past half n hour for the sound of bell.

He was practicing to shoot arrows just by sound of a moving target. He had trained a bird to fly around him with a bell in its talons.

It has been a few moments now he has not heard the clang of bell from the birds talons.

'Darn, the bird has flown faraway' he thought.

That's when wind picked up speed and he heard something.

'Was that a bell?' He thought.

He strained to hear again. And then he heard it.

A faint sound.

CLANG!!

CLANG!!

And The Arrow was shot.

"KANHA" Baldau screened

Kanha ducked just in time. An arrow had pierced the bell above which had fallen down which would have hit Kanha in the head had he not ducked in time.

The bell touched the morpankh in his crown which displaced itself of his crown and flew towards Mathura.

"Jiji.." Devaki frantically tried waking Rohini up.

That's when a morpankh flew from the window and settled itself on Rohini's stomach.

Rohini's whole body went still for a second and than she gave a ear shattering scream.

The Baby was out.

Road to Mathura

"She is alright Dau." Kanha whispered

Then chariot was out of the hole and it sped at its maximum.

"We are just about to reach the Palace Kanha" Baldau looked at him. Eyes full of unshed tears.

"We are there Prince" Daruka said.

They both looked at each other for a moment and ran down the chariot.

The moment they kept a leg inside palace the only thing they could here was the shrill cries of the baby.

They both ran at full speed and reached to Rohini's chamber.

"You have a baby sister" said Devaki looking at both of them smiling.

They both just stared at the bundle of joy in her hands.

"But Kanha she won't stop crying.." Devaki said worried

Baldau came forward and took the baby from Devaki. The baby crying lessened but yes she still cried.

Krishna slowly moved forward and gently took the baby in his arms.

The baby stopped crying immediately.

She was staring at Kanha.

"See Dau she loves me more!" Kanha said to Baldau suppressing his laughter.

"No she loves me more Kanha!" Baldau exclaimed softly. He bought a hand to her face when she grabbed one of his fingers and did not leave it.

"Name her..." Came a feeble voice of Rohini from the bed.

"The storm ravaging for the last month had stopped when she was born." Said Kanha

"She is fortune.
She is Lakshmi.
She is Yogmaya." Kanha's voice slightly higher.

"She who is glorious and is a source of great welfare will be called.." Kanha and Baldau stared at each other one second and then both of them said.

"......Subhadra"
