Chapter fifty-one: It's you and me
The sound of thunder exploded as the middle head of the Devastrigon unleashed a powerful roar before the left and the right consecutively did. It unleashed a powerful sandstorm that we had to cover ourselves. We stood on our ground while covering our faces by using our arms, trying not to get pushed by the unstoppable force. But our feet slid backward before the roar finally pushing us, causing us to roll on the ground.
Opening its two big wings, the Devastrigon pierced the wall of the massive volcano to climb. It started to ascend in the red sky as we all looked up. I couldn't believe what I was seeing right now. From its huge body to its tail of the three-headed dragon was armored with crimson hard scales, so bulky it was served as its powered exoskeleton. The wings expanded following with burning flames of the inferno. The side of the dragon's forearm up to the elbows had grown pointy massive horns.
It turned long enough to impale the prey from a far distance. The claws were deadly as an old witch's nails (No offense). The three heads' fangs were fatal that they could crack the most unbreakable substance without even trying. Yikes. Like helmets, their faces were protected with crimson scaly armor, making them look more menacing. Their burning eyes gazed down at us as if the three heads were looking at our soul. Flames dancing starting from behind their heads, down into their back, and finally into its tail.
Blasting with their powerful beam cannon three times in a row, I knew it would kill us all. So I caught the blast by using the side of my blade. "Xabe!" They all shouted. Despite the firepower, I managed to hold on, but not for long. I was pushed forcefully by the blast, crushing through the volcanic wall behind us. I could feel my hands shaking and the side of the blade was getting closer to my face. Then, the blasting stopped. After shaking my head to get rid of the dust, I spotted Victor threw a giant rock which he picked up from the ground to the right head's face. "Let's move!" I heard Claes.
The right-headed dragon blew rapid balls at Victor, who was jumping like a gymnastic to avoid getting crushed and spat by lava splashes. "Come, three head uglies!" Victor taunted. Meanwhile, I saw Sean used a spell to splash lava on the left head's face. Do you expect that would hurt it, Sean? As the left-head dragon saw him, it was about to unleash its power firepower, but I didn't know what comes next. Taking care of the middle head dragon, Claes was raising his hand- he was hypnotizing it. However, the way I saw what was happening, the magic didn't bother the dragon. It's not working.
Xabe, what in the world are you still stuck in here? Get your butt out! My conscience abruptly yelled at me. I forcefully leaned forward and focused on the chest, but there was one problem. The Devastrigon's chest plate looked dark and spiky. I couldn't see the glowing flames through it. This was bad, but I still need to try. Followed by another volcanic splash beneath, I dashed in the air toward the Devastrigon.
Judging by their humongous size previously, the three-headed dragon's size right now could almost conquer the size of the shape of one of the biggest islands. I flew from any direction just to avoid getting impaled by its sharp flaming tail. My claymore burned so brightly, that was the signal that I had to take action. I sliced its gigantic tail every time it was about to hit me. The middle head blew powerful flames at me but I managed to evade it.
I was smacked by its gigantic paws that caused me to crash-landed on the forest far from the volcano. Ashes and dirt smothered my entire body as I was continuing to slide down on the ground. Thanks to Sean's purification flask, I'm still looking good as new. I shook my head while sweeping my hair, trying to get rid of the smaller dirt.
As I looked up to the red atmosphere, the Devastrigon was flying toward where I was at. It's not focusing on the warriors now that its rival was here. I glanced everywhere to see my claymore dumped on the debris from the north. I lost my grip on it. I ran to grab my weapon, then suddenly I heard a scream. I peered to the dragon's tail to see five small people hanging on its swaying tail. They're crazy! But they're hanging on the side of the tail, not the top since that's where the flames were.
"Woo-hoo!" Victor exclaimed while beaming.
"I think I'm going to barf." Lenard's cheek puffed but quickly covered it with his hand." The Devastrigon was about to open their mouths to blast at me, but I heard a melody sung by the girl holding a feather sword. Her voice projection was loud and clear. It took long enough for the Devastrigon to fell on the ground. Before it did, they all jumped and rolled onto the ground before seeing me flew high and slicing the back to its tail. "I think I know how to distract it," Lenard said as I finally gathered with my group.
"Good, but we need to be careful," I said.
"Are you okay?" Chloriette asked as she came to me.
"Yeah, thanks for asking." I nodded to her before turning back to the Devastrigon, that was flapping its wings to ascend again.
"That was crazy." Sean reacted. "I thought you were dead."
"That happened before," I said. "The Devastrigon somehow catching up to me."
"It's their three heads, we need to separate their perception," Lenard told us. "I analyzed it from the way Victor distracted the right head while Sean distracted the left, they all have different perspectives-"
"In which you'll strike the heart," Claes finished. Despite the dragon's protection on their chest, I had to try harder to get into its heart. The claymore burned much brighter than before. "Tell me the plan." Now, I don't want to spoil it. You'll just have to see it for yourself. The three-headed dragon turned to us and flew forward, its six blazing eyes focused on its prey. The six of us begin to run as fast as we could. My heart was pumping, I never felt this intense before.
My feet started to hover above the ground and being the first to lift my claymore for a swing. I was getting faster. I glared at them as theirs glaring at mine. Abruptly, ashes from the ground started to swirl around like a tornado, then the tornadoes span around the three heads' faces. Distraction? Yes. I glided on the ground and slicing the neck of the middle head's neck to its chest while my claymore made a huge burst of light, hoping to crack the chest armor.
I looked back to see the Devastruction flew upward while tornadoes of ashes still circling their faces. Their heads continued to shake from Chloriette's singing. Their massive body was slithering out of confusion. I thought Claes was helping too. Sean and Victor nodded to each other as the Devastrigon was about to release its powerful beams. As it did, Victor threw boulders and tree trunks he had found nearby while Sean cast a spell to explode those thrown boulders and trunks like fireworks.
I deflected the blasts that were so powerful, it took half of my strength to deflect it toward the burned trees, at least they had time to take cover. While the warriors distracted the dragon, I flew toward it to swung my weapon to its arms, legs, wings, tail every time they used it to hit me. And when I dodged every attack, I aimed for the heart with a powerful smite of flames before trying to push the claymore.
But there was something not right. Only three inches of the blade was pierced to its chest- not even close enough to its heart. What? The Devastrigon's body was burning red while steam was coming out of their powered exoskeleton. With a powerful roar with a supersonic burst, their body exploded with a massive BOOM! like a gigantic meteor blew away from mid-air.
The explosion was so big, even the ashes and dirt were blown away, including the tidal waves that pushed itself into the shore before. The force pushed me away and I was falling to the ground. My body crashed with a big impact. I grunted as I got up to see the forest became wiped out. The warriors helped each other to get up. Oh no.
Up in the air, the Devastrigon was burning hot. It roared another powerful thunder followed by the strike of lightning behind the clouds. It appeared it had seen us. Whipping its flaming tail, the dragon had a new trick, and that was unleashing electrical flames toward the island while they fired bursting blazing fire. It was fast and was about to hit the earth, including Claes, Sean, Chloriette, Lenard, and Victor.
With a quick reaction, I spotted my claymore dropped out near a tree. Don't worry, the dragon won't eat. I grabbed the weapon just in time to dashed toward them to release bursting energy of red flames out of my palm. Remember, I could do that. But what was this feeling? Their firepower became stronger than mine. I did try to push harder, but I couldn't. With enough force, the blasts blew us all away together with the island. And all I could see was the shining bright white light.
A/N:
That went well. Xabe and the Flash warriors were having a hard time fighting the reptilian monstrosity because the healed Devastrigon had the upper hand it seems. What do you think will happen next?
