Chapter Two

Ariella cruised down the hall of Crestview High, her bright, pink heels clicking like an award-winning editorial in progress. Mae followed behind her recording Ariella's every step with her digital camera. "Being a worldwide renowned fashion designer is my ultimate dream, but until then, I use my skills here at Crestview to dress the trendy and help the style deprived."

Right on cue, Caleb Lazlow showed up wearing an outfit that could take up the whole Worst Looks list on its own. His shirt was a patchwork nightmare of mismatched button downs and she didn't even want to start with those burnt red jeans.

Ariella dragged him into the shot. "Exhibit A."

Caleb smiled dubiously at the camera. "What's going on?"

Ariella released Caleb as Mae stopped recording. "Mae's filming an all-access video about me for the Daily Pawprint. It's going to make the homepage. The editor, Justine, thinks it's going to be an instant hit." She flashed a smile down the hall at Justine, who snapped her fingers into two thumbs up. Totally rocking the camping look, by the way. Olive looked great on her.

"So what, I'm not front page material?" Caleb made a sweeping gesture to his outfit, which pretty much answered the question for him.

Mae pensively tapped her camera with her point-and-shoot finger. "Actually, we do need material for the cartoon section."

Straight ahead, Ariella spotted a vest she recently sold heading for the girls' bathroom. "There's one of my designs. Ad opp!" She and Mae hurried over before the reunion got weird. Bathroom shots were not going to appeal to the public.

Caleb rummaged through his locker, pitying the world for missing out on his headlining exclusive when Torin marched over looking only a tiny bit angrier than usual.

She clenched her fists into tight balls at her sides. "Did I just hear that Ariella is going to be in the school blog? If anyone deserves to make front page news, it's me." She huffed and stomped off.

Caleb shook his head. "Girls are so self-absorbed." He shut his locker and strutted down the hall, twisting around his backward globe painted cap, which read "Caleb's World" in graffiti.
