Pictures of You (Part II)
Magnus puts a blanket over his unconscious sister then goes to sit next to his mother over on the other couch across.
"Could you not surprise me like that again? You just suddenly summoned a demon on the premises! I hate surprises." Magnus mutters the last part.
"Since when? I recall when you were a child, you would always surprise me with flowers or a birthday breakfast. You were so adorable!" She pinches his cheek and he pulls it away. "And it's not like we're on shadowhunter territory right now. You would protect me... Always such a mama's boy!"
"I'm far from being a boy. Look at me."
"Okay, you're an old man now." He rolls her eyes at her comment. "...You knew that Patience gave Valak my memories, didn't you?"
He sighs. "I'm sorry."
"Hmm, have to admit. That was a nice trick, making me think she had my memories when she gave them to a memory demon."
"...How did you even know?"
"Future me told me."
"You... You mean time travel?"
"Something like that... A while back, I started having these visions of people close to me dying and there was this voice that was warning me on what to prevent... Turns out it was my future self. Guess it was a new spell that future me created so that she could talk to me."
"...What did you give up for in exchange? I know that demon asked for a memory of your beloved. So what was it?"
"...My past father... Azazel. Not sure which one but it had something from when I was a child."
"Not a bad deal. He was a stupid demon anyway." She chuckles as he places his hand on her knee. "...You know that she's going to ask why couldn't let it go."
"It's a good thing that I didn't... I have to go back to New Orleans, Magnus."
"May I ask why?"
"...Because I have a little sister."
Kol strikes a demon with his sword, killing it instantly.
"Nice work. For someone who hasn't been a shadowhunter in a thousand years, you still got it." Alec says as he joins him.
"Thank you... It's a nice feeling. It sorta fills in the void of me craving the magic that I lost before I became a vampire."
"You were a prodigy, right?"
"Yes. I was the only one out of my siblings to tap into my magic. It made me feel so alive... But when I lost it, I hated it. I felt like I lost a part of myself."
"...How about now? I mean it's nice seeing Magnus and Patience so happy. I can tell they missed Ariel a lot but they never got to meet you until now. But it's obvious how much they love you both."
"...I never imagined myself as a father but with those two? It's kinda fun." Kol chuckles.
"...Did you and Ariel ever try again back then? I mean I know warlocks can't have children but at the time, neither of you wouldn't have known that."
Kol sighs. "We didn't get the chance to try again after we lost her."
"Her?"
"I'm pretty sure it was a her and that I was her favorite." He says making them both laugh. "But we weren't able to try again because of Azazel... You know." Alec nods. "So when are you and Magnus going to have children?"
"We're not even married!"
"Neither were my darling and I but that didn't stop us!"
Ariel heads into her sister's room while hiding something behind her back. She notices Caroline is getting their things ready for prom.
"Sis...I have something for you." Ariel says gaining Caroline's attention.
"What is it?"
"Here." Ariel gives Caroline a photo album titled, "My Sister, My Friend, Sometimes My Foe".
Caroline laughs. "What is this?"
"It's just something for us. I put in pictures of us from when we first met to recent events. Mainly the times we were working on events, winning competitions or pulling pranks on each other. There's even one where you took my burger from me. It was meant to be a graduation gift but I thought it would be perfect for tonight."
Caroline pulls Ariel into a hug. "Thanks, Angelfish. We'll take a picture together at prom and add it to the album."
Ariel pulls back and smiles. "There's this idea I thought of... After graduation, how about we go on a road trip? We can ride of the motorcycle that Stefan got me for my birthday. You can add photos of us from the trip."
"What about Kol and Klaus?"
"For one month, it'll just be us two. It'll be good for them to have some brotherly bonding. Then the next month, they'll be meet us wherever we're at. Tokyo, London... Los Angeles."
Caroline laughs. "Remember when we were sixteen and Clarissa flew us to Los Angeles for Halloween? Some guy in a Pennywise costume kept scaring you and Clarissa beat him up with her corndog!"
Ariel sighs. "I was so sorry she had to sacrifice that corndog."
"She had five of them, Ariel! Just like you ate four burgers and had cotton candy! I swear you two never care for the calories."
"You're just hating because you don't have a special bond to food like we do." Caroline rolls her eyes and Ariel sighs. "If only Clary be included on the roadtrip but Aunt Elle, Uncle Luci and her will be moving to Los Angeles soon."
"...We can always visit her while on our roadtrip."
"So that's a yes?" Ariel's eyes sparkle with excitement.
"It's a yes."
"Yay!" Ariel squeals and tackles Caroline in a hug, making them both fall back onto her bed.
"Wait... Is there a spell that will help us get ready?"
Ariel smirks. "Dress of hair first?"
Caroline squeals. "Dress! Then hair!"
"Okay, clothes first... Multicorfors."
A while later after using her magic to finish their prom looks, Ariel completes her look with the necklace that Kol gifted her back at the Mikaelson ball. The sisters turn to each other and smile.
"Klaus got you that dress, didn't he?"
"Yep. I told him that I wanted to look Princess Grace of Monaco hot." Caroline says making Ariel giggle. "But sis... Kol won't be able to keep his hands off of you. You might finally be losing your v-card."
"I swear if another person brings up my sex life!"
Caroline giggles and vamp speeds out of the room.
"No fair! That's cheating!"
Ariel hurries out of the room and heads downstairs. Just as she arrives in the living room, Liz tears up even more after seeing her.
"Aww, my babies look so beautiful!" Liz sobs.
"She started crying once you came down first, didn't she?" Ariel asks Caroline.
"Of course she did... Are you eating cotton candy?! When did you even get that?!"
"It gives me life and I have my ways!" Ariel shouts, resulting in Liz laughing. "Works every time."
A portal suddenly appears and out of it comes an angry Patience and a frantic Magnus.
"Mother, I tried to calm her down but-"
"HOW DARE YOU! YOU KNOCKED ME OUT AND GOT YOUR MEMORIES BACK?!"
"If you had just given them back like I asked, I wouldn't have had to do that."
"But-"
"Patience." Ariel places her hands on Patience's shoulders. "I know you mean well and you want to look out for me but... You can't protect me from everything."
"...Do you really have to go back there?" Patience asks tearfully.
Ariel nods. "My little sister is going to need me."
"But me and Magnus need you! We-" Patience cries.
"Hey." Ariel wipes away her tears. "I know you lost me in the past but I'm here now, aren't I? I'm not going anywhere this time."
"Promise?"
Ariel smiles and hugs her. She then pulls Magnus into the hug.
"How can I not? If I died on you two again, there's no telling what more mischief you'll put your brother through?" Ariel says, making the family of three laugh.
"You look beautiful by the way, mother." Magnus says.
"Aww! Thanks son!"
"Yeah, dad might want to te-" Magnus places his hand over Patience's mouth.
"Angelfish... What do you mean by little sister?"
"Uh... I'll explain another time."
They all hear the doorbell ring and Patience is the first to pull out of the group hug.
"Those must be your dates. I'll get it."
"Are you sure..." Ariel attempts to asks but Patience already walks away.
Patience already makes her way to the front door and opens it, surprising Kol and Klaus.
"We've met before but I never caught your name. Who are you? Klaus asks.
"It's only proper to introduce yourself first, pup."
"Excuse you? Who do you think-" Klaus is cut off when Kol smacks the back of his head.
"Niklaus, apologize right now! This is my daughter!"
Klaus has a bewildered expression. "What?"
"Patience, I wasn't expecting you. Is your brother here as well?"
She smirks. "Yes and you look handsome. Now my question, are you and mom going to do the de-?"
"Don't even finish that question."
She rolls her eyes, steps aside to let Kol in and they both leave Klaus at the doorstep, dumbfounded.
"What just happened?"
After a while, everyone gets ready to take pictures. After both couples take a few pictures and Liz takes a few with her daughters, Ariel walks over to her children and links her arms with Magnus and Patience.
"Take a picture!"
Liz smiles. "Alright, sweetie. Say cotton candy."
"Cotton candy!" Ariel yells making Patience and Magnus laugh.
Liz takes the photo and Kol joins in by standing behind Ariel and wrapping his arms around Patience and Magnus' shoulders.
"Me too!"
Everyone laughs and Liz proceeds to take a photo of the four of them.
Later, the couples arrive at the school and walk on the red carpet. After Caroline and Klaus go on ahead in, Ariel notices the screen showing a slideshow of photographs. She giggles at a photo of Bonnie feeding her cotton candy. The next photo to appear is Matt and her trying to hide from Caroline at Founders' Day.
"Why do I feel like we're running a practice run of Caroline's wedding?"
Ariel and Kol turn around to see Matt and Bonnie approaching them."
"That's because we are." Bonnie giggles. "Or maybe it's your guys wedding?" She asks with a smirk.
"Who says we're getting married?"
"Darling, you wound me." Kol says while placing a hand over his heart.
Ariel looks inside and grins at a certain pairing.
"Wait... Is that Katherine and Elijah?! Yes, the matchmaking progress it a success!"
"What are you playing cupid now?"
"Yep. Need a girlfriend, Mattie? I can find someone for you."
"No thank you." Matt chuckles.
"Fine but let me know if you change your mind."
Ariel joins Rebekah at her table.
"Becky, how is your first prom going?"
Rebekah smiles. "It's everything I wanted it to be... Well, almost."
"Almost?"
"We'll be graduating soon and going to college though but there's one experience that I'm missing out on... Something that I've wanted for a long time."
"...Becky."
"Hmm?"
Ariel goes into her purse and takes out of a vial.
"This is something that can give you a human experience." Ariel says while smiling.
Flashback - A few hours ago...
"What's that?"
Magnus smiles. "The cure."
"Huh?!"
"After the spell that Patience, you and I created to complete that boy's mark, I used the map to find Silas."
"...So what happened?"
"...I killed him and took the cure." Magnus smugly smirks.
"...When did you get so blunt?"
"Do you know how many years it's been?" He places the vial in her hand. "Now give that to whoever you'd like. To who you believe deserves it the most... And you do what you have to mother. I will always support you. So will Patience, even when she's against it."
"...Thanks, son."
She ruffles his hair, making him smile and smack her hand away.
"Watch the hair!" He laughs.
End of Flashback
"Ariel." Rebekah's eyes glisten with tears.
"This is the only one and there's other people I could give this too but... You had to endure being a vampire for so long and you've never gotten to be truly happy... So take it. Be free."
Ariel takes Rebekah's hand and places the cure in it. Rebekah sobs and pulls Ariel into a hug.
"Thank you... For being my first friend and my sister."
"No need to thank me, Becky." Ariel says while patting her back. "Just live your life how you want. Be happy and make sure that I'm godmother to one of your kids, got it?"
Rebekah laughs and continues to tearfully hug Ariel. Kol soon comes over.
"Sister, stop hogging my girlfriend! I want to dance with her!"
Rebekah quickly wipes away her tears. "Shut up, Kol. She was mine first!"
"Technically she was mine first. First shadowhunter and first warlock, remember?"
Rebekah rolls her eyes. "If he gets on your nerves, let me know. I'll straighten him out."
"Will do."
"Hey!"
"Kol, stop your whining. Now are you going to ask me to dance?"
"...May I have this dance?" He asks as he offers his hand.
She smiles and places her hand in his. "...I guess it's tradition."
As they walk away, Rebekah sighs. "Could he hurry up and propose? Caroline and I already have the wedding planning done!"
During their dance, Ariel notices Caroline dancing with Klaus while Katherine dances with Elijah. She smiles and looks back at Kol.
"So Foxy... You going to tell me what you and my sister have been up to?"
"What do you mean?"
"You've both been spending so much time together lately. What are you both hiding?"
"Can't a man just hang out with his future sister-in-law?"
"Who says we're getting married, Kol?"
"We were engaged in our past life!"
Later while Ariel is outside, she looks at the screens showing the slideshow. She smiles at the photo of her on Tyler's back after the football team won their match. The next photo is of her and Caroline at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. Rebekah and her working at the dance committee. Jeremy and her dancing at the sixties decade dance. And lastly, her and Elena in their cheerleading outfits.
Flashback
"Ariel, come on. Caroline will kill us if we're late for practice."
"No! I joined the art club of my own free will but... That wretched sister of mine forced me to join cheerleading, the dance commitee, the beautification commitee and whatever else there possibly is! If I have to suffer, the least she could do is let me have my burgers!" Ariel whines.
Elena laughs. "Alright, how about this? After practice, we'll sneak away and head over to the grill. We'll order some burgers and have them at my house. We'll just text Caroline that you're playing video games with Jeremy. How does that sound?"
"You're the best!" Ariel hugs Elena, a bright smile on the brunette's face.
"Anything for you, Ari."
End of Flashback
Ariel doesn't notice Elena standing afar, watching her with a sad smile. Ariel sighs and takes out her phone, dialing a number. When they don't answer, she decides to leave a voicemail.
"...Dad. It's me... Ariel. We haven't seen each other in so long but when you get this, I'm hoping you come to my graduation. Patience can send you a ticket if you'd like... I miss you."
She sighs and puts on leather jacket. After she stands and turns around, she is shocked by the sight before her.
"Nice leather jacket. Looks like the one I was planning on giving you for your birthday."
Her eyes glisten with tears. "...Damon?"
He smirks. "In the flesh."
She runs to him and he catches her in his arms, spinning her around. Bonnie watches nearby with a bright smile on her face.
DAMON SALVATORE IS BACK!!! (EDITED!)
Sorry for the long wait! Some of the flashbacks I meant to have this chapter, I'll save for next chapter.
I decided to remove Ariana from the main story. It was too much for me, it wasn't working and I was getting confused so many times. And part of my original plan was to bring Damon back in the graduation chapter but the ending here, I felt it was so much better! Bonnie is the best! And don't worry, nothing will happen to her! Hopefully this is a much better chapter!
Now you guys know that I didn't really focus on the Silas storyline mainly because of Jeremy. He went through too much because of Elena and others, so he deserved a break. But we did talk a bit about Silas this chapter. Since the whole map was completed, Magnus decided to head over to the island and obtain the cure. Plus I wanted to get some more Ariel and Magnus moments in there.
I also hope you like what I did with Rebekah. She deserved the cure more than anyone and she really lost a lot of times she could have been happy but it was always ruined because of Klaus. So I felt she deserved to have the human life that she always wanted.
I wanted to add that moment between Ariel and Elena because in this story, you all never got to see when their friendship was good before it started falling apart. The Elena before, she'll always remember her and treasure that friendship. Ariel has already let go long before and is moving on.
