Ariel is woken up by someone holding her tightly. Her eyes still red and puffy from crying so much after the loss of her father.

"Sis?"

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

"Terrible...and angry. It hurts that he's gone now and I miss him so much but a part of me still hates him for what he did to you... Am I wrong to feel that way?"

"No angelfish. Not at all. You have every right to feel the way that you're feeling... I miss him too."

"At least we still have each other and mom."

"Yeah we do. How about we stay home today and-"

Their moment is interrupted when someone knocks on the door.

"I'll be right back."

Caroline leaves Ariel's room and eventually returns with two boxes with ribbons around them.

"What are those?"

"They have our names on them." Caroline hands Ariel's box to her. They both are invitations to the Mikaelson Ball. Caroline's card has written "Save me a dance. Fondly, Klaus."

"Seriously?" She then opens the box to see a beautiful blue and white dress.

"Wow that's really beautiful! Is there something you like to tell me?"

"Like what?"

"Since when did Klaus start liking you?"

"Oh please! It was his fault that Tyler bit me!"

"Not completely. If Tyler had just stayed away from you, it wouldn't had happened. And if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have given you his blood to heal you. So did something happened that night that I need to know about?"

"Absolutely nothing! Now stop it!" Caroline throws a pillow at her younger sister, causing her to giggle.

"Did Klaus send you one too?"

"Let's see..." Ariel checks her card that has written "I hope to see you tonight. Allow me to have the first dance. Written hopefully, Kol."

"Kol? Wait...are the rest of the originals awake?!"

"Yeah, it happened last night at the dinner party that Damon and Stefan took me to. Let's just say Klaus' siblings are not really happy with him."

Caroline opens the box to see a red and gold dress including a gold diamond necklace.

"Oh my god, its gorgeous. This Kol has good taste... But why is Kol sending you a dress, a necklace and asking for a dance?"

"He may have called me beautiful..."

Caroline squeals, "Is he hot?"

"He's cute. He looks like a mini Elijah." Ariel giggles thinking about the youngest original brother and immediately starts blushing.

"Wait, do you like him?!"

"What?! I don't even know him! But what about you and Klaus, huh?!"

"Hey, don't even try to turn this around on me!"

"We're in the same predicament!"

"Do you think we should go?"

Caroline recieves a text from Elena, wanting to meet at the grill and to talk to them about the Mikaelson Ball.

"Elena wants to meet up."

"Do we have too?"

"Go get ready."

Later, Caroline and Ariel have met up with Elena at the grill.

"It's all so weird. The Originals are throwing a ball. Like an actual ball."

"It's some twisted Cinderella fetish is what it is. And why does the evil witch want an audience with you?"

"I have no idea. There's only one way to find out."

"I did, which is more reason why I need a drama free bodyguard."

"Well, I think a Salvatore would look a lot better in a tux. And by that I mean Stefan."

"Uhh, I can't deal with either Salvatores right now. Whatever Stefan is feeling, he is channeling it all against Klaus. And Damon...it's just not a good idea."

"Why cause you two made out? Bonnie and Ariel spilled the beans. Damon told Ariel all about your kiss."

"I was gonna tell you. Just after everything happened with your dad..."

"Elena, when you and Matt kissed for the first time freshman year, you called me the second it happened! And now I don't hear about this till now, and from somebody else!"

"I'm sorry. It's just I, I don't even know how I feel about it yet. All I do know is that it just used to be so much easier... Ari, are you okay? You really haven't spoken since you two got here."

"I'm fine. Just not much to say."

"Are you sure?"

"Angelfish, what's going on? Did something happen?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean ever since I mentioned that Elena wanted to meet up with us, you got annoyed and didn't want to go, I had to drag you here."

"You two really wanna know?"

"Did I do something to upset you?"

"Hmm, well...when were you going to tell me that you daggered Rebekah?"

"Wait, what?! You daggered Rebekah?! I was wondering where she had went."

"Ariel, I'm sorry." Elena tries reaching for Ariel's hand but she pulls back. "I know that's she your friend but I was afraid she ruin the plan to kill Klaus. Besides, how can you be friends with her?"

"Because she's a meaner version of my sister!"

"Hey!"

"I mean that in a good way. You know I love you."

"She tried to kill me last night!"

"Oh, did she? Maybe if you hadn't daggered her, she never would have done so!"

"Ari-"

"Stop Elena. You knew she was my friend and you're suppose to be my friend but went behind my back anyway. Rebekah has been through enough because of her family and she deserves a peaceful life, that's all she wants. You even got Damon involved with pisses me off even more. You know that Damon is like a brother to me. You know you're becoming such a backstabber."

"She's right." Rebekah walks up to them and smiles at Ariel, her eyes thanking her for defending her. "Caroline, you should be careful too. It's all good and well until she stabs you in the back."

"What are you  doing here? I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals."

"Shut up, Elena."

"Get over yourself. It's not all about you. I'll see you at the ball, Ariel?"

"I'll be there."

"Good." Rebekah walks over to Matt and gives him an invitation to the ball.

"What time is this stupid dance?" Caroline groans.

That evening, the Forbes sisters arrive arm-in-arm at the Mikaelson Mansion. Wearing the dresses they were gifted. Caroline even decided to wear the diamond bracelet Klaus gave to her for her birthday. Kol and Klaus notice the sisters and are stunned by the gorgeous women. Klaus walks over to meet them.

"Good evening."

"I need a drink."

Caroline walks away as Ariel pokes Klaus.

"Hey, when were you going to tell me you have a thing for my sister?"

"I was afraid you disapprove."

"Nicky if you're interested in my sister, I'll give you my support."

"Thank you, princess. I'm glad you came, you look beautiful."

"Thank you. Now where's mini Elijah?"

Klaus holds back a laugh. "That's what you're calling him?"

"Yes. Two reasons. He does look like an mini Elijah and it's to annoy Eli since he still hasn't given me a nickname."

"You better hope neither of them hear that."

"I already did." Elijah walks up to them and kisses Ariel's cheek. "You look lovely, Miss Forbes."

"You don't look to bad yourself, Eli." Kol joins them and kisses Ariel's hand causing her to blush.

"Ariel Forbes, you look ravishing."

"What's your deal? Did you two know about this?"

"Know about what?" Elijah just as confused as Klaus.

"That Mini Elijah here-"

"Hearing the once was enough, a second is too much. I refused to be called that!"

"Well too bad. Seeing that it annoys you as well, gives me more pleasure!"

"Ariel, please-"

"No, Eli! Until you give me a nickname, he's mini Elijah! Now before I was interrupted. Mini Elijah here sent me an invitation, this dress and necklace."

"So your date was Ariel?!" Klaus turns to face Kol.

"You said this was a date? I didn't agree to any date."

"Oh, darling. You wound me."

"Good. Now I'm going to go find my sister."

After Ariel leaves them, Elijah questions Kol, "Kol, what are your intentions what that girl?"

"Isn't is obvious? I want to get to know her so that I can court her."

"Bloody hell." Klaus walks away to find the sisters.

"Do not cause trouble, Kol. It is okay if you want to get to know her but wanting a relationship with her, be careful. I do not want to see her hurt."

"Of course."

Ariel runs into Damon.

"Ariel, whoa. You look amazing."

"Thanks, Damon. You're looking pretty hot, as always."

Damon smirks and offers his arm and she wraps her arm in his. He leads them to Elena and Stefan. Elena gives Ariel an awkward smile.

"Ariel."

"Elena."

The brothers notices the tension between the girls and before they can question it, Elijah makes an announcement. All the guests look towards the staircase where the original family stands. Kol winks at Ariel and she tries to avoid his gaze however, Damon doesn't fail to notice.

"Welcome, thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance. Tonight's pick is a centuries-old-waltz, so if all of you could please find yourself a partner, please join us in the ballroom."

As Esther heads back upstairs, Elena goes to follow her but Ariel and Damon stop her.

"Don't even think about it."

"Ariel, she wants to see me."

"Well sucks to be her then. Was I not clear this morning?"

"I was invited, Damon!"

"Elena, I am warning you right now, let it go."

Before Elena can reply back, Kol comes over to them and offers Ariel his hand.

"May I have this dance? Don't forget I did request one when I invited you."

Damon and Elena looked shocked by the revealation. Ariel is hesitant but takes his hand.

"Okay." Kol smiles and takes her to the ballroom.

Everyone takes their places in the ballroom. Ariel and Kol are behind Damon and Elena, while Klaus and Caroline are on the other side. Everyone begins the waltz.

"You're quite the dancer."

"Of course. My sister would always drag me to dance rehearsals."

"My brothers and sister have told me a bit about you. Rebekah tells me that you were the only one to welcome her when she started school and became fast friends. Nik started to like you because you cussed him out when trying to protect Katerina while he was holding you two hostage. Not any human would dare challenge him that way. And Elijah enjoys your company as you both love reading and you're always trying to beat him at chess."

"And insisting for him to give me a nickname."

Kol chuckles. "It's interesting how my siblings have become so attached to you. So tell me what type of person are you?"

"No time. We have to switch partners." Kol twirls her and she ends up in Damon's arms.

"So what's the deal with you and little Mikaelson?"

"I don't know. You know I just met him."

"But that doesn't explain why he's invited you to this ball as his date." Damon gasps. "Wait! I think someone has a crush on my baby sister!"

"Oh hush. You're being ridiculous. And make sure that Elena doesn't see Esther, I don't trust that woman."

"I'm ahead of you there but why don't you trust her? We've never met her."

"Don't you remember that Nicky and Eli told us that their mother was the one who killed the original Petrova? So what's the reason she needs to see Elena for?

"Unless she's up to something..." Damon notices Elena and Stefan missing. "Where is Elena?"

Wandering outside, Ariel gazes at the garden. Kol approaches her.

"You like flowers?"

"White peonies are my favorite."

"I'll keep that in mind... You didn't answer my question earlier."

"For starters I'm someone who loves to give nicknames and receive them in return... I'm the type of person who likes to stay positive about things. I'm someone who looks out for her family and friends. I don't like to judge people. I try to see the good in people, why they are the way that they are. Like Damon and Klaus."

"What about me?"

"I don't even know you."

"Then get to know me! Go on a date with me tomorrow!"

"Do you do this with all the ladies?"

"Darling, I've never met anyone like you in my lifetime. You have the honor of being the first and only woman I go on proper dates with."

"Oh, proper dates? We haven't even been on one date yet, why are so certain there be multiple dates?"

"I am very confident. Besides I didn't hear a no."

"Are you always so cocky?"

Kol steps closer to her and leans down to whisper in her ear. "I don't have to be. But I am sure that you are interested in me as I am in you."

Ariel squeaks with him being so close and starts to walk away quickly but yells back to him, "I come see you tomorrow about the date!"

Kol smiles triumphantly watching her as she walks away, thinking of what tomorrow will bring.

Later that evening, the Forbes sisters here a fight going on outside and rush out to see Damon had beaten up Kol.

"Damon! Are you crazy?!" Stefan asks his brother as the other Mikaelsons join them.

"Maybe a little... Far be it from me to cause a problem."

As Damon walks away, Ariel glares at Elena seeing how Damon was staring at the entire time. "Thanks, Elena. Once again, I have to clean up your mess."

Elena becomes hurt by Ariel's words as the latter goes to check on Kol. She faces the siblings and apologizes for Damon's behavior. The siblings nod at her and as she leaves with her sister, she yells out, "See you, Finnie! We have to talk sometime!"

Klaus and Rebekah laugh while Elijah has an amused smile. However, Finn looks appalled by the nickname. "Finnie?"

After the sisters arrive home, Caroline finds another gift from Klaus on her bed. A sketch of her and a horse, and written on it "Thank you for your honesty."

"You know seeing this drawing, I think he really likes you."

"You're not giving this up are you?"

"Nope."

"What about you and Kol?"

"...He asked me out."

"Of course he did. While you were with Rebekah, we talked for a bit and he asked for my permission if he could take you out."

"Hey! ...What did you say?"

"He didn't seem too bad and he wanted to get to know you so I agreed. Only if it was at the grill and all you two do is talk!"

Ariel tries not to smile but is failing miserably.

"What?"

"You so like him, don't you?"

"No! I don't know him!"

"You so want to smile! You do! Look at you!" Caroline giggles and begins tickling her sister.

"Stop it!" Ariel laughs and runs away, heading back to her room. Her eyes widened at the sight of a bouquet of white peonies on her bed. She reads the card that has written, "I cannot wait for tomorrow, my darling." Ariel smiles thinking about the mischievous brother.

Note: Caroline never dated Tyler in this story and Matt was not attacked by Kol in this episode! You'll learn in the next episode to why Damon and Kol fought.
