ARCEREAN SENATE ATTACKED

POLARCUS CITY — Twenty senators were killed while thirteen were wounded after a group of unidentified assailants attacked the Senate building in the hilltop district of the capital city on Monday.

The assault happened just three days after the untimely demise of King Bennett.

The Senate was in session for the accession hearing of Crown Prince Alphonse de Arcerea when the building was breached. According to witnesses, men in black cloaks flew into the session hall and started attacking everyone inside.

"Everything happened so quickly," republican Senator Maeve Flannigan said. "One moment, everything's peaceful. The next moment, everything's in chaos."

The Arcerean Palace issued a statement reporting that His Highness and his royal entourage are in good condition.

"We convey our sympathies to the families of senators whose lives were unfortunately lost in the attack," the statement said.

Meanwhile, Senate President Victor Sorensen was wounded and is now recovering.

"This is the worst attack we've ever had in the history of the Kingdom," the Senate president reportedly said before being taken to the hospital.

Nine of the twelve assailants were killed, one was captured, and two fled the scene. The capitol constabulary is now actively searching for them.

Polarcus City Mayor Paxton Callahan has declared a state of emergency and put the entire capital on lockdown.

"We won't let them get away with this," Callahan said.
