Chapter One
A/N: Hi there; some of you may see an upload of this chapter; I would like to clarify I have unpublished every chapter except for the first one. I am currently in the process or rewriting this book. At first, I wanted to upload again with plenty of chapters rewritten, but currently, I only have a few. I'm going to be uploading the other chapters eventually, but right now, I'm just sticking with Chapter One.
Lucy Heartfilia, Celestial Mage of Fairy Tail, and Levy McGarden, Script Mage of Fairy Tail, were walking through to the guild's archives, searching for the white-haired mage, Mirajane Strauss. They were told by Erza that Mirajane sorting out the books.
"Mira? You here?" Lucy called out as she and the blue haired mage looked around for the model.
"Up here!" A voice called out. Levy and Lucy looked up, finding Mirajane on a ladder while waving to the two females. They both waved back to the mage, who was climbing down the ladder carefully, making sure she doesn't fall on her way. "What can I do for you?" Mirajane asked as she stopped moving, still on the ladder as she looked through the books.
"Do you know where Elfman is? We need his help with something." Levy said as she scratched the back of her neck. Mirajane stopped looking at the books, and turned her head to the two mages looking up at her.
"Elfman and Lisanna were sent to go meet someone by the master." Mira explained as she climbed down the ladder to look at the girls. Both females wore a confused expression on their faces.
"Who?" Lucy asked as she tilted her head. Mirajane shrugged her shoulders as she picked up a pile of books and began to walk away to a table.
"I don't know. They didn't say." Mirajane stated as she picked up a book from the top of the pile and began to flip through it. She then stopped flipping through it as a picture came up in the book. Her eyes then widened. "Wait... Could it be her?" Mira questioned herself.
"Who Mira?" Levy asked as she and Lucy walked to the mage. They looked over her shoulder, and Levy's eyes widened. Meanwhile, Lucy still wore a confused expression on her face. In the book, there was a picture of Gray when he was a child on the floor, with a girl sat on his back. Gray had a bump on his head as he looked like he had just lost a fight against the girl.
The girl looked around the same age as Gray. She was a small girl with a moonlight pale skin tone. Her eyes were a dark grey colour while her long hair was a darkish lavender shade. The girl wore a bored expression on her face as she had elbow on her knee, while she rested her head on her hand. The girl wore a dark purple cape around her arms, a black dress with a pair of black boots and white socks that ended under her knees.
"Who's that?" Lucy asked as she looked at the two mages, who seemed to be smiling warmly as they looked at the picture.
"Her name is Aria Lotus. She joined the guild when she was 13." Mirajane explained as she turned the page, revealing another picture of Aria. This time, she was sat on a table, and she looked upset.
"How come I've never met her?" Lucy asked as she raised an eyebrow, looking at the picture of the girl. She looked at the girl's sparkling grey eyes that looked like they were holding a sad story.
"She left when she was 14 to train with a mage Gildarts took her to meet after her magic was revealed." Mirajane explained with a sigh as she closed the book. "I wonder what she's like now..."
"What magic does she have?" Lucy questioned.
"She has the ability to use Crystal Magic. It's a lost magic, no one knows how she's able to use it. From what I remember reading, the last person who was known to have that power was a mage who lived over two hundred years ago." Levy explained as she walked to a bookshelf, running her fingers across the books as she scanned the book titles.
"Was she and Gray close?" Lucy asked as she looked at Mira. Mirajane laughed slightly as she nodded her head. She sat on the table, picking up the book once again and flipping back to the page that had the picture of Aria and Gray.
"When Natsu wasn't around, Gray would always try to fight Aria. Aria would also often help Erza when it came to stopping Natsu and Gray from fighting." Mirajane explained, still laughing slightly, causing Lucy to laugh with her. "I guess it was thanks to those three that Aria came out of her shell. When she first joined the guild, she wouldn't talk to anyone. She would just hide in the corner." Mirajane explained.
Flashback...
"Hey, newbie! Fight me!" A young Gray ordered as he waved his arms around while standing near Aria, who was eating a piece of bread. Aria stopped eating her bread and looked up at Gray with her dull grey eyes that showed no light. She then looked back down and continued to eat her bread, causing a vein to pop out of Gray's cheek. "Hey, I'm talking to you!" Gray exclaimed, getting annoyed by each second as Aria continued to ignore him. Gray slammed his hands on the table Aria was sat at, gritting his teeth. "Why are you ignoring me?!"
Aria finished eating her bread and turned around on her seat. She pulled her hood up and began to walk away, leaving Gray to become angrier. Aria walked to a corner and sat down, bringing her knees up to her chest as she looked out of the guild window.
"Fight me!!" Gray exclaimed as he was suddenly standing next to Aria. Aria flinched slightly at the sudden outburst that appeared next to her. Aria turned her head to Gray and frowned at the boy.
"Can't you take a hint? I don't want to fight you!" Aria exclaimed as she continued to frown at the male.
"Why not?!" Gray exclaimed as he folded his arms, huffing slightly as he stared at the female. Aria turned her head away and moved her hood over her face slightly.
"Because I don't want to..."
"Gray, leave the kid alone. She's not wild like you or Natsu." Macao said as he and Wakaba sat on a table next to the two. Gray huffed again and puffed his cheeks out. Wakaba and Macao laughed at the boy, who stared at Aria with a frown.
"Are you scared?" Gray asked as he looked at Aria. A vein popped out of her head as she turned her head to look at the boy. Gray flinched slightly at the dark look Aria gave him with a shadow forming over her eyes. A dangerous aura surrounded Aria as she glared at the boy coldly. Aria rose from her seat and walked towards Gray. Gray stepped back, until he was backed up into a wall. Aria stood in front of him; she was slightly taller than him. Aria raised her arm and punched Gray on the head lightly.
"There." Aria said, making Gray blink in confusion. Aria then walked away from the confused boy.
"Do you think she broke him?" Wakaba asked as he looked at Gray, who was just blinking while standing there in confusion.
Lucy laughed at the story Mirajane told her. She held her stomach as she imagined Gray's reaction.
"Here it is!" Levy called out, making both Lucy and Mirajane turn their heads to the script mage. Levy walked over to two mages and put a book on the table. She flipped through the pages, until a page with the title "Lost Magic: Crystal Magic" came up. Lucy looked at the book and examined the page.
"Crystal magic is a rare magic that is found difficult to control. A long time ago there was a city full of crystal magic mages, however that city was destroyed, and all survivors either went into hiding, or were killed. The last known crystal mage died over 100 years ago." Lucy read out; her eyes slightly wide as she read about the magic. "Does Aria know about the history of Crystal Mages? In this picture she looks sad." Lucy said as she flipped the page to show the other picture.
"I remember the day that picture was drawn." Levy said, making both mages turn their heads to her. "It was when Gildarts returned for a few days. Two days before Aria left with him to train with that mage."
Flashback...
Gildarts smiled at Natsu, patting him on the head after he told a young Natsu no to a fight. Levy, Jet and Droy were watching from afar. Gildarts turned his head and saw Aria watching the Strauss siblings playing together while Reedus painted a portrait of her. Aria was wearing a sad expression in her eyes as she watched them. Aria then looked in the corner of her eyes and watched Laxus and Makarov talking. Aria released another sigh before she looked at the Strauss siblings once more. Gildarts stood up and walked to the female, dodging all the fights that were currently going on inside the guild.
"Hey Aria, you alright?" Gildarts asked as he looked at the female with a soft smile. Aria turned her head to look up at the male.
"Mr Gildarts... Yes, I'm fine thank you. How are you?" Aria asked as she looked up at the man with a soft smile. Gildarts then began to mess up Aria's hair with his hand.
"Now you don't need to be asking that. I'm asking if you're alright, because you've been watching Lisanna, Elfman and Mira for a while now and you look sad." Gildarts said as he pulled up a chair and sat down to look up at the girl who was sat on the table. Aria sighed as she looked at the siblings.
"I was just...admiring them... They all love each other no matter what because they're family...even if Mira says otherwise." Aria said, smiling at the last sentence she spoke as she turned her head to Gildarts.
"Don't you have a family like that Aria?" Gildarts asked. Aria stopped smiling as she opened her eyes with a sad expression in her eyes. She sighed as she looked away. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Gildarts said after noticing the sad expression in her eyes.
"It's fine. I think I'm going to go for a walk..." Aria said as she got off the table.
"Doesn't Aria have a family?" Lucy asked with a sad expression on her face as she looked at the two mages.
"Aria never mentioned anything about her family. She always avoided the question." Levy explained as she folded her arms, a sad expression as appearing as she looked at the painting of Aria in the book. Lucy sighed as she looked too.
"Poor girl..."
"Wasn't that the same day as the attack?" Mirajane asked, making Lucy look up at the model.
"Attack?" Lucy questioned, which Mirajane nodded her head.
Flashback...
"It's fine. I think I'm going to go for a walk..." Aria said as she got off the table. As she took two steps forward, the ground began to shake slightly, scaring the children and causing Aria to fall back, however luckily Gildarts caught her. "What is this? Is this another welcoming for someone like you Mr Gildarts?" Aria asked as she looked up at the man, who wore a frown.
"No..." Gildarts said as he looked at the door. Master Makarov ran to the doors and frowned as he turned his head to look at the guild members.
"We're being attacked! Everyone; prepare for battle! Macao, take all the children to the basement for safety!" Makarov ordered as he ran outside, being followed by other Guild Members.
"Right! Kids, run now!" Macao ordered, which the children all followed. Well... Most of them.
"No way! We need to help them!" Natsu exclaimed, however, he was picked up by Macao, who was running into the basement with the rest of the children of the guild. "Put me down, old man! Put me down!" Natsu ordered, however, Macao had already taken him into the basement and passed him to Aria. Erza and Mirajane were allowed to join the fight considering their ranks in the guild.
"Is that everyone?" Macao called out, making everyone look at each other. He then frowned when he noticed someone was missing. "Where's Gray?" The children all looked around when Aria's eyes widened. She remembered that earlier that day, Natsu and Gray were fighting, and Gray ended up hitting his head against a wall and was unconscious.
"Gray is out there!" Aria exclaimed as she ran past Macao, running up the stairs.
"Aria!" Macao shouted as he ran after the female, however, she was already out of the door and had slammed it shut. Macao went to open it; however, it was stuck. He tried to kick it down, however, something was holding it shut. He then noticed crystal was slowly entering the room from under the door. "Crystal...?"
Outside, Aria sighed as she placed her hand on the crystal that surrounded the door. She then frowned as she looked around. She quickly hid behind the bar when she saw a couple of guild members were thrown into the guild, and continued their fight with their opponents inside. Aria crawled to the end of the bar and found Gray slowly waking up on sofa. Aria released a sigh of relief, however, her eyes widened when she saw someone approaching him. An enemy.
"Huh? Who are you?" Gray asked, squinting his eyes at the man who seemed blurry in his eyes. The man chuckled darkly as he raised his sword. Once Gray regained his sight, his eyes widened as the sword came closer to him.
"Crystal sword!" A voice shouted. Gray's eyes widened as Aria was suddenly stood in front of him, holding a sword made of crystal in her right hand. As the man went to hit the two children, Aria hit his sword out of his hand, making the man's eyes widened as he watched his sword go to the other side of the room.
"Aria!" Gray gasped. Aria suddenly pulled her arm back, and crystal's appeared around it. She then moved her hand forward and punched the man in the gut. The man's eyes widened as he felt intense pain from the attack. He fell to his knees, holding his stomach with wide eyes. Aria then used her knee to hit him in the head, knocking him out.
"Take cover." Aria ordered as she looked at Gray, who's eyes were still wide.
"But what about you?" Gray asked, however, Aria frowned at his question.
"Just go now!" Aria ordered before she ran out of the guild to give a hand to the other guild members. As Aria ran outside, her eyes widened when she found a lot of her guild members hurt from the attacks.
"Aria...What are you doing out here? You should be hiding." Wakaba said as he leaned against the wall of the guild, holding his shoulder. Aria ran to Wakaba and closed her fist. When she opened it, a small green crystal appeared in her hand and she passed it to Wakaba.
"If you crush this in your hand, your wounds will heal." Aria explained. Wakaba looked at the crystal and nodded his head. He crushed the crystal in his hands, and the wounds on his body began to glow green. His eyes widened as he moved his hand from his shoulder. His hand had blood on it, however, there were no wounds on his shoulder. Aria smiled slightly, until a shadow formed over the two. Aria turned her head to see a large man with a sword ready to attack.
Aria felt frozen in fear with her eyes wide, until Gildarts pushed the man out of the way, hitting him with his shoulder and throwing him into the wall.
"Aria! What are you doing here?!" Erza exclaimed as she ran to Aria, who was being stared at by both the crimson-haired warrior as well as Gildarts.
"Gray was still up here and I came to help him. He's in hiding now and I thought I could help." Aria explained as she stood up to look at the two powerful mages. Erza frowned at the girl.
"You should have hidden with him Aria. This is too dangerous." Gildarts said, frowning. Aria gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists tightly.
"I can help! I'm not useless!" Aria said; however, her eyes went wide. She quickly ran through the two and suddenly put up a shield made of crystal, shielding everyone from getting hit by ice shards. Both Gildarts and Erza when wide-eyed as they stared at the girl, who made the crystal disappear, which caused the ice shards to drop to the ground, shattering into thousands of small pieces.
"Aria... do you possess the lost magic Crystal magic?" Gildarts asked, eyes wide and still in shock. Aria turned her head, looking at the two with a serious expression.
"Like I said... I can help."
"After everyone found out about Aria's powers, they respected her a lot more than before. No one in the current age is known to be able to possess these kinds of powers." Mirajane explained as she looked at Lucy.
"Two days after, Gildarts took Aria to a wizard who knew how to use powers similar. Aria stayed with the wizard to train, and no one has heard from her since." Levy explained as she leaned on the table with her arms, sighing slightly.
"No one has heard from her?" Lucy asked, making both mages nod their heads.
"She never wrote, she never came back. The last thing we heard was when she left. She said she will return in 4 years." Mirajane explained as she picked up the book and placed it on the shelf carefully.
"Let's go ask the master if she's coming back!" Levy said as she looked at Lucy. Lucy nodded her head with a smile. The two then ran out of the archives, leaving a smiling Mira. She watched the two leave before she walked to a pile of books to put away.
Meanwhile...
"I wonder where she is... I hope she recognises us." Lisanna spoke with a sigh as she folded her arms as she and Elfman waited at the train station for the guild member they missed. Elfman looked at the time before looking at her sister.
"A real man must wait for a woman... But her train should have arrived twenty minutes ago!" Elfman stated as he folded his arms. Lisanna smiled awkwardly as she patted her older brother on the back. Just then, a train stopped, making the two turn their heads. They hoped that this was the train Aria would arrive on, however after another ten minutes, they saw no sign in for a female with purple hair. Both siblings sighed while hanging their heads slightly.
"Excuse me." A female voice spoke up. The two turned their heads and saw a petite person hiding their identity with a purple hooded cape. "Are you Lisanna and Elfman Strauss from Fairy Tail?" The female questioned with a soft voice. Both siblings looked at each other before looking at Aria. They then both nodded their heads.
"Can we help you with something?" Lisanna questioned politely as she looked at the female. The hooded female nodded as she placed her hand on her hood, raising it a bit. Both siblings went wide-eyed as they stared at the figure.
"It's you!"
