Chapter 41: No!
Aria's POV
( Rough Draft feedback needed, please! )
People were running while screaming all around us, and Xavier stood in our path. The pure bright white molecular human-like form still remained faceless to me. I visibly stiffened and held onto Richard tightly.
"Time to go now, Aria." His tone dared me to refuse.
Though I didn't want to, I let go of Richard and stepped forward. Inside, I could feel myself dying a little as I allowed the spinning of my core to remind me of what I am. Holding up a hand in the universal sign of peace I spoke calmly. "You are speaking to your equal Xavier, I suggest you tone things down a bit first."
Xavier grabbed me by the throat with one hand, he anticipated Richard would come in my defense. Raising his hand, Xavier knocked Richard backward down the walkway with a small shockwave of power. "You have been in this human form for far too long. Be rid of it, or see your friends here die."
Easily I let my molecules shift and divide apart as I stepped back from his hand. Glancing over my shoulder briefly, I asked, "Richard, are you okay?" He struggled to stand and was cursing broadly.
"Yeah, babe." He called out from far off.
Knocking Xavier's arm down to his side I yelled in his non-existent face "NO! You want me, come get me!" Allowing my molecules to retain the human form partially, as my of saying 'fuck you' to Xavier, I rose in the air cool night air, heading up into the cold of the mesosphere about seventy kilometers above the earth. The air sped by me so fast, it plastered my dress to my skin and even the flesh of my cheeks rippled on my face. At the surface, it had been cool, but the closer I got to the outer edge of the atmosphere, the warmer I became. I was close to having my body burn when I slowed and turned in the mesosphere waiting.
He followed me fast as a cloud of white haze, catching me mid-belly with a huge shockwave that lit up the skies above Little Rock, Arkansas, and at least a quarter of the planet. Unconscious for a few seconds, I woke to a world of acute pain. Ribs were broken, and so was my spine.
Flying up through the atmosphere, my body bunt away. Slowly I tumbled out into open space. Xavier came at me fast, and as he did, I dove straight through his lower half imprinting him on my DNA in the process. While reassembling the body of Annie, fitting to exist where space would not crush the human form.
So many lives... so many civilizations he had collapsed into dead ruins and dead planets. It was unbelievable...and here I thought I had been bad! Adjusting my gravity, I aligned myself with the surrounding planets and pulled back the molecules of my chest exposing my core. Changing the gravity, I allowed my core to partially invert. The resulting power sending off a shockwave of power that knocked Xavier backward for over a thousand kilometers until he disappeared.
Visions of the civilizations I had collapsed and destroyed, the screaming occupants moving in all directions; dying before me, struck me as I sent the shockwave at him. I was happy that I had gotten him back, but I was not happy at how much power it had taken out of me. Now was not the time for my human-like conscience to kick in.
At this point, I figured it might be best to allow my molecules to spread out completely again. But before I could, he zipped out from behind the dark side of the moon and sent me reeling with a shockwave twice as strong as the last.
The impact made my teeth shatter into shards of bone that I spit out of my mouth. Bent over in two, I rolled through space as I tried to spread out my molecules at last. Once I accomplished this, the pain stopped. Now, I was thinking coldly like the old me once more.
Staying still, I let him approach, and just when he got close enough, I instantly sent a shockwave through him that knocked his mist back far, but not far enough. Suddenly he turned and began heading toward Earth. Using the power of my shockwaves to propel me faster through space, I flew past him and stood in his path. God, I wish I could communicate with him out here.
Stopping about sixty feet away, he held out his hand. Xavier stood in his human-like form trying to tell me it's either the merging or the Earth! Without thought, I took his hand. But would I survive the merging? Would he? Or would we blend and become one, Aria lost forever?

Richard Weston's POV
Before I could recover, Aria was gone and Xavier followed after her quickly. People were in a panic thinking the end of the world was inevitable. But they didn't know my girl. Not as I do. There's no way in hell she'd let that happen. As I got up from the ground, I kept my eyes looking upward toward the stars through the clouds. Roarke and Janos approached from behind, I only knew it was them because they were talking to each other.
Both of them stopped on either side of me. Not bothering to glance at them, I let on looking for any movement among the stars. "Don't worry man, she's got us all covered. She'll be fine." Roarke said quietly as he placed a hand on my shoulder. Just then, the clouds split apart really fast. While a circle of blue spread across the sky.
"Yeah?! Then what the fuck was that Roarke?" I pointed up to the sky while I pulled away from his hand and began pacing, not taking my eyes from the sky, except momentarily.
"Look Richard, she'll be okay. She's badass man. She'll whip that guy's butt in no time." Janos tried to convince me. With soothing tones.
Glancing at them quickly, I told them, "I appreciate what you're trying to do, but you're not making things better. That son-of-a-bitch is stronger in power than she is." I turned and started walking toward the parking lot. "Unless you haven't noticed, Aria's power in her core is fading."
Stepping out from the palm trees by the glowing swimming pool, was Gabriel. Glaring at all three of us, he yelled, "Why in the name of fuck, wasn't I informed of this!" I turned and looked at Janos and Roarke, both of them nodded once.
Stepping up to Gabriel, I yelled back, "Because it was none of your God damned business!" I punctuated it with a closed fist punch to the jaw and watched as he slid down a palm tree, glaring.
As I started walking again, There was a humongous circular blue flash in the sky that almost rolled outward over the horizon and the top of the moon. "My God," I whispered as Roarke and Janis fell into step at my sides. "It's a God damn shockwave... It's how they propel themselves in dead space."
We reached the parking lot and walked the end of one of the RVs. As Janos climbed the ladder to the roof, Roarke asked. "So is that what they are fighting with?" Placing my hand on the first rung of the ladder, I hated myself up as Roarke followed.
"Yeah, that bastard is going to try and wear Aria down I'll bet. With how big the blast radius is, she can't hold up against that. Aria won't have enough core power to do it." In frustration, I balled up my fists and closed my eyes, as I yelled, "FUCK!!!" as loud as I could. Never in my life had I felt so useless.
Standing on top of the RV as Roarke and Janos took a seat, I screamed out as loud as I could, "ARIA!!! Don't you dare die without me! I love you!"
The Lycan and the shapeshifter exchanged looks but remained in companionable silence.
