Chapter 13: Trouble

Aria's POV

His fingers hooked around me, and he pulled me close against his body as we continued our slow walk around the front of the building to its' side where we separated and turned to face the two smirking lycans. Richard was slightly bent forward ready to take them on in a fight.

"Ready to play, bitches?" Richard challenged them.

Personally, I thought him insane since he had absolutely no idea of what he was getting into.

The lycans growled at us both and ran at us with their superhuman speed. As one tackled Richard, I went invisible, stretching out my molecules above the lycan. Descending, I solidified behind him, wrapping my arms around his head and neck. Choking him out I quickly passed my molecules through his, to gain his knowledge.

Richard was faring well, I felt pride for the first time in this existence. With arms and legs wrapped around the lycan from behind as they lay on the ground, he slowly gave pressure on the guy's throat. Until the sound of cracking bones started... Legs and arms began to elongate and change shape as the lycan whimpered. Just as the guy's head became bigger, his neck became thicker and harder for Richard to hold on to. I had to stop this now. Focusing on the lycan, I let my core spin fast making the gravity level shift and change around the lycan, slowly invading the matter that he was made of, making him howl with pain over and over. Instead of sending him to oblivion, I concentrated on his heart, pulling the molecules away in the surrounding sac rapidly until the muscle that was his heart had become so thin, the rushing blood within the chambers blew it apart. With a final scream of little energy, the lycan collapsed dead across Richard, that glared at me.

"I had him you know..." He growled out, as he sat upright, pushing the lycans dead body off of his legs.

I could tell from the tone he used with me that his testosterone levels were way up. I looked at him curiously, tilting my head. "Have you ever fought a lycan in their true form?" At his lack of an answer, I felt it prudent to let him know the truth of the situation as it had been. "He would have turned and snapped down on your neck in seconds. Killing you. Instantly snapping your neck once he started shaking his head with you caught in his great maw. If you didn't bleed out first." Richard looked down at the guy and kicked him in the ribcage anyway.

"Alright, now what do we do? Your guy is dead too, right?" Grinning, I turned and gestured to the guy laying flat on his back.

"He's just unconscious for a short time. While we wait for this one to wake up, why don't I run back to the bench and grab up the purse that came with this body? There is something in there that should help us." I replied, still all business.

He nodded and looked from side to side. "You do that, and I'll get rid of the body and place it in the dumpster against the building." He looked me right in the eyes. "You be careful, okay?"
Nodding, I took off at a run.

As I rounded the corner of the store I heard a man yell "FREEZE!!!, I saw the trucks lined up and down the cross streets. Yellow, red, and white lights flashing everywhere. We'd been set up by the lycans. Calmly I read the words Police, from cars, FBI, S.W.A.T. from trucks, and the others were military. I recognized their camouflage designs.

Men bent over cars with flashing lights, with guns in their hands. The military guys were in the open and behind the cars plus peeking around, and on top of the trucks with automatic rifles held up to their shoulders. I was sure they were on the roof behind me as well.

One man descended from a silver truck and walked toward me wearing a hazmat suit with his hands held up high in a gesture of sorts to show me he wasn't armed.

"Miss, I need you to come with me, no one is going to harm you." His eyes stayed focused on mine but moved to his right as his eyes landed on something behind my shoulder.

Turning my head, I saw Richard with his wrists cuffed behind his back struggling hard to get away from the military men that had him. "ARIA!!! RUN!!!"

I turned back to the man in front of me. Feeling my anger rise. " If you want me to go anywhere with you, you will let Richard Weston go. Now." I was calm. Dead calm. Though my core was spinning extremely fast and gravity was shifting around me. Briefly, I wondered if this was the predator in me.

The man's eyes widened as he felt the change in the air around me. Turning to the military men he yelled, "Let Mr. Weston go!" The military men looked up to question him, but thought better of it and started removing the cuffs.

Richard's gaze met mine and he shook his head with urgency. "Aria, no! Please don't do this! Damnit, not for my sake! Please no..." The military men pulled him away and I could still hear him yelling.

The man in the hazmat suit gestured to the truck. "Come on Miss, let's go." Since he did not bother to introduce himself, I decided to mess with him a bit. Having gone through the memories of Annie, whom this body belongs to, I found that she was a bit of a practical joker. So just to play with the minds of all present, I flashed a smile and allowed the molecules on the bottoms of my feet to become agitated so when I walked to the truck It would appear as if I were floating. In shock, he jumped back and bubbly laughter issued forth from my lips. "Oh silly human, that is nothing. Wait till you truly comprehend what I am. Listen well because I will only say this once. My name is Aria. Should any other referenced name be used in my presence by anyone, I will retaliate however I see fit. You have all been warned. Also, should I hear that any harm befalls Richard Weston in any way whatsoever, I will destroy you all. Am I clear enough for you?" For a moment there I thought he was going to vomit in his suit. But he nodded and helped me up into the truck where three others in hazmat suits waited with their rubber gloves and helmets. Various cabinets were lining the walls and there was a table they expected me to lay down on. Turning around, I closed my eyes and breathed the clean, fresh, free air one more time. It may be a while before I could again. Sighing, I turned around again and got into the truck. The further I got inside, the more I could see. There were also white vinyl benches on either side of the table. The one woman moved to the side to allow me room enough to get up on the table. Instead, I sat down in the middle of a vinyl bench on one side and smiled up at them all. "Sorry, but I am no trained lapdog. You may do as you wish, if I decide to let you, but no more than that."
