Chapter 58
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me with Claude sprinting close behind me.
'Faster!' He yelled trying to keep up.
The footsteps behind us loudened. There was more than person chasing us, maybe five.
'Faster!!'
Almost suddenly, there was a loud booming noise. A gunshot.
The sounds continued. I tried with all my might to run faster; I didn't want to be shot.
My legs were nearly about to give up on me. I tried to double my speed.
BANG!
I looked back to see what it was. Claude had fallen onto the the ground. 'No!' I panted, turning back. I crouched down to where Claude lay.
'Keep...running...' Claude groaned.
Blood oozed from Claude's leg where they had shot him. 'It'll heal,' he reassured me 'You have to go now...'
'Not without you!' I yell putting his arm around my shoulder and hoisting him up. The noise behind us got closer. I tried to run but Claude's weight held me back.
The thick fog blinded me. This is it. This is where I'll die.
I kept running though. A part of me didn't want to give up just yet. The ground beneath me got bumpier and bumpier until I found myself tumbling down... A hill?!
The voices and footsteps behind us faded and so did the fog. But I still couldn't see where I had landed; it was too dark. A pain began to grow on my back. I'd landed on a sharp rock.
'Claude...' I whispered, feeling my way through the area. I heard a groan of response but I couldn't see where he was.
I clicked my fingers. Please work, please work! A few sparks flew from my fingers which finally burst into a small flickering flame. Yes!
I searched the ground around me until I finally found Claude laying there in agony. He had lost a lot of blood. I dropped down to him.
'Claude!' I block his wound with my free hand.
'Don't worry,' he groaned 'It will heal.'
'It won't!' I cry holding onto his leg.
'Yeah it will,' he answers trying to get up 'I'm a demon. Demons can heal faster than humans can.' He rolls up his trouser leg to his knee. There was a deep gash where he had been shot, the blood around it had hardened a little 'Maximum three days.'
He took of his backpack and retrieved a piece of cloth from it. He used it to dress his wound.
'Those bastards are better than I thought,' he said leaning onto a tree 'Are you alright?'
'I'm fine,' I lie, not telling him about the ache in my back.
'I'm glad you are,' he rested his forehead on mine.
Bonus: The adventures of Octavius the demon cat. (Author was bored)
Hello, it is I, Claude's ginger cat, Octavius. I will be sharing with you my most interesting tales. >w
Hungry~
I lay flat on back staring at the ceiling. The light from the lamp above warmed my tiny paws. I finally got up, stretching my back legs as I did so; I was hungry.
I strolled to Claude's bedroom where he too was napping. I pounced onto his bed.
'Meoow!(wake up!),' I moaned into his ear.
Claude gave me a loud groan, sleepingly pushing me aside.
'Mreowww!! (WAKE UP, YOU FOOL!!)'
'Go away...' Claude murmured in a groggily tone. He hid his head beneath the blanket. I quickly bit at his ear, causing hiim to scream.
'What the fuck?!' He yelled, rubbing his ear.
'Meeeoow (Feed me),' I purr having caught his attention.
He lazily got up from bed, rolling his eyes as he did so. 'Seriously?' Claude yawned at me, picking me up in his arms 'Why do you have to be such a bitch?'
'Meowww! (I hate dogs!)' I yowl at him.
He carries me to the kitchen, placing me on the counter and retrieving my bowl and a can of cat food. He opens the tin and pours it into my bowl.
'Here you go,' he says, handing it to me.
I purr in gratitude, rubbing myself on his arm. He strokes the top of my head. There were bags beneath his eyes 'Don't ever wake me up like that,' Claude yawns, heading back to his bedroom.
Poor kid. He never gets enough sleep. Too busy spying on the girl next door LOL.
(A/N the adventures of octavius the demon cat is insignificant and I only wrote it because I was bored. But you can read it if you want I don't mind. Also thank you for the 1K reads!!! I love you all!!)
