Chapter 47

The wind was getting feircer but somehow, it didn't bother us anymore. (A/N the cold never bothered me anyway. Sorry, had to.)

Despite the frosty weather, Claude's hand was warm. It was tightly wrapped around my own hand, keeping me warm as well.

I knew that by now, Josie and Lee had noticed we were gone.

We heard fireworks go off in the distance, probably by people who were celebrating the new year.

New years was supposed to be the time you spend with people we loved. I neither loved Claude or liked him but somehow, I was glad that I was spending it with him.

'Raven,' Claude began gently 'Remember when you asked me if I liked you, and I said no?'

I nodded.

'Well...' He hesitated 'Do you like me?'

I froze. Did I like him?

I looked into his icy blue eyes.

Then it struck me. I did like Claude. As a friend of course. He was always there for me when I needed him and he risked his own life for my safety. Maybe he was lying when he said he didn't like me. Maybe he did.

I nodded, answering his question and causing him to go red.

I leaned closer to his face and kissed his cheek, making him go even redder.

'So you do like me?'

'As a friend.' I reminded sturnly 'Nothing else,'

He faced me, and pressed his lips on mine.

'Woah woah woah,' I said, pushing him away 'I said as friends,'

'I know,' he replied pressing me against the wall 'I kissed you 'as friends''

'Friends don't kiss each other ,' I stated.

He caged me between his arms.

'But I've never had friends, so I wouldn't know that.'

'Well you do now,' I replied, pushing him away again, blushing a bit.

There were hundreds of fireworks filling the sky now.

I looked up to see the bursts of colours and light. It looked beautiful against the dark night sky.

'What are you thinking about?' Claude asked me, intertwining his arm with mine.

'Just how amazing the sky looks,' I sighed.

There were footsteps tredding towards as.

I looked to see who it was and it was Josie.

'You two are in big trouble!' She yelled 'You guys didn't even tell us you were gone! We were so worried!'

She kept ranting on and on while she ushered us both to the car.

When we sat in the car, she fell silent, satisfied with yelling at as.

'What were you too doing there anyway?' Lee finally asked, causing us to both go red.

'We were talking. That's all. Nothing else. Just talking.' Claude stuttered.

The journey back to the house was calm and quiet, although at some points the atmosphere got so tense I had to pretend to open the window for air to calm myself down.

We had finally arrived at the house and the first thing that popped into my mind was food.

I hadn't ordered anything at the restaurant and I was starving.

I rummaged through the fridge, finding a microwavable meal and heating it so I could eat it.

Josie and Lee had already gotten to bed and maybe Claude had, too.

After eating the meal, I went upstairs and entered the guest room.

Claude was asleep in the white bed so I guess I had to sleep on the floor.

I found a spare blanket and set it on the floor.

First I checked if Claude was really asleep because I had to change into my pajamas. I clicked my fingers several times and luckily, he didn't wake up so I turned around and started changing.

Then I lied down on the blanket 'bed' trying to fall asleep.

However, my mind was keeping me up (not to mention the hard floor was also quite uncomfortable).

In my head, I kept seeing dead bodies, of everyone; my friends, colleagues and other people I knew. Suddenly, I realized, was I the one to kill them?

I felt terribly sick but I refused to get up.

I wanted to go back to my apartment again. I wanted to see Connie and Ayesha again. I wanted to be normal again.

No. I wanted to die.

I felt myself rising from the floor and walking down the room to the door.

Opening the door, I began to walk down the corridor and finally, down the stairs.

I entered the kitchen.

Let's see, I looked around the dark room, what would be the most easiest and most painful way to 'go'.
