The Truth?
"Anyways, what were we talking about?" I wiped a tear from my eye as I tried to concentrate back on our conversation, fighting off the last remnants of laughter. "Oh yeah, I remember. So... Why'd you lie to me about having to go back?" Dark turned off the faucet, his hand lingering on the handle for a couple moments, as though hesitant to respond. He reached for a towel and dried his hands wordlessly; the only sound emanating from him was the gentle rustling of the cloth against his hands and wrists. He sighed softly and turned back around to face me, sitting down at the table. He intertwined his fingers calmly, looking down and furrowing his eyebrows slightly. He looked back up and his deep crimson eyes stared into my (e/c) ones as he cleared his throat.
"Well, based on what I've seen of the world so far, I figured that you wouldn't have taken it too well that I can stay out as long as I want. It... it throws some people off, knowing that a demon has complete reign over himself and his surroundings. But I was wrong in judging you like that, and I trust you now." He gave me a little smile as he said the last few words, as if to put aside any doubts that I may have had. It worked wonderfully, his perfectly white teeth shining in the morning sunrise, and I smiled back at him calmly. I thought briefly about tossing in a seductive lip bite, but my common sense told me that now wasn't exactly the best time for that.
However, common sense wasn't enough to stop my other thoughts. 'Is it just me, or is his smile just as charming as Mark's?' I had forgotten about Dark's ability to read minds. The fact that he could tune in to my head as easily as a radio somehow slipped from my memory, the removal of which was no doubt caused by Dark himself.
"It is when I want it to be," he responded to my unspoken question with a smirk. I sighed to myself, resigning myself to the inevitable fate that I had, knowing that Dark would only continue to mock me for thinking the things that I couldn't control.
"Dammit, I have got to stop doing that..." Dark laughed, a deep rumbling reverberating though my very soul. Time seemed as though it had frozen as I heard what may have been the most beautiful sounds to have graced the Earth. 'NO NO NO DO NOT START THINKING LIKE THAT (Y/N)! BAD, DON'T DO THAT!' Dark snickered as he listened in on my thoughts. I looked at him, blushing furiously. "Um, excuse me but I don't think that my head is a radio that you can tune in to anytime that you want." I crossed my arms and frowned at him, trying to force my blushing down to a minimum. 'Now get out.'
Dark made a puppy face at me, somehow temporarily changing his crimson eyes to a deep chocolate brown. He stuck out his bottom lip slightly, and softly whimpered, his lip quivering. He lowered his head to the edge of the table as a dog does when it begs for food, but in this case it was much more heart-breaking. He had moved his plate so that he wouldn't get his face dirty, and he now lifted his hands to his cheeks, poking them in a manner such that his mouth became smaller and more puppy-like than ever. I started to give in, trying desperately to fight it off.
