Chapter 27

"Alohomora." Queenie murmured quietly as she and Jacob stood outside Percival's office, desperately trying to get the door open. She had just rescued Jacob from getting Obliviated and their mission now was to save Tina and Newt, "Aberto..." Queenie said as the door remained locked, she huffed out in frustration, "Ugh. He would know a fancy spell to lock his office." She whined and tried a few more times. Jacob quickly glanced around before giving the door a heavy kick, making it break open. They both rush in as Queenie grabs Newt's case and Tina's wand.

"What are you two doing here?" A voice asked, making them jump and look at the doorway with wide eyes. There stood (Y/n) with a blank expression, her lips set in a thin line as her eyes bored into the two with her wand gripped in her hand.

"I could ask you the same thing." Jacob said as Queenie nudged him and looked pleadingly at (Y/n), knowing how high (Y/n)'s position as an Auror is despite being her best friend.

"(Y/n), please. Teen's in trouble and we can't afford to waste any time. Please don't report us to Percival." Queenie pleaded softly as (Y/n) only stared at her and began to approach her with a very threatening aura, making both Queenie and Jacob take a step back. Once a foot or two away from them, the young Auror looked at Queenie with a very saddened and exhausted expression. Her feelings come off really strong that made Queenie read her mind and see what had happened moments before and back at the apartment. This made Queenie look saddened as well while looking at her best friend forlornly. "Oh sweetie... This must be really hard on you." She said quietly as (Y/n) grimaced and looked to the side.

"It doesn't matter. Besides, I came in here to get their stuff too but it's good that you two are here which saves me a lot of time. C'mon, we gotta stop the execution and hide away somewhere." She said while gesturing her head to the side while walking over to the door, her words surprising the two as they followed after. She looked back at them with slight confusion as they walked through the corridors to the elevator, "What?"

"You could get in serious trouble, (Y/n)!" Queenie said, "You'll get demoted or worse, fired. And what about Percival? If he found out that you're helping us, he'll go nuts!" She exclaimed as (Y/n) abruptly stopped walking, making them stumble to a stop as she turned and faced them, the elevator siting behind her.

"I'd rather lose my job than let my friends die wrongly." She said as Queenie blinked a few times in surprise, "And I don't care what Percival thinks, because I at least know where my heart and morals lie where he lacks that knowledge." (Y/n) said before turning back around and stepping into the elevator, "Now let's go and get all of us out of here quickly, I got a plan." She said as Queenie and Jacob look at each other and back at the Auror before nodding and stepping into the elevator. (Y/n) presses the button to the basement and the elevator shoots down.

Newt and Tina sprint through the basement, sprinting around the corner and almost collided into Queenie and Jacob who had walked briskly through the basement. They all had a look of panic on their faces as Newt sees (Y/n) with Queenie and Jacob to his surprise.

"Miss (L/n)?" "(Y/n)?" Both Newt and Tina exclaim in confusion.

"What are you doing?" Tina asked as (Y/n) looked at her, chin up and looking rather serious and composed out of the other four panicked persons.

"Helping you guys get out of here." She said as Tina opened her mouth to protest that this will get her in trouble and she raises a hand to silence her. Queenie gestures to Newt's case and (Y/n) looked at Tina, Jacob, and Newt, "Get in." She said bluntly.

Percival moved down the stairs leading to the cells in the basement with urgency, there was a look of panic on his face.

Queenie moved quickly across the lobby floor, trying desperately to not seem conspicuous in her haste, but acutely aware of the need to leave. (Y/n) strides briskly by her side as she kept a lookout to make sure they weren't being followed before a flustered Abernathy emerged from a crowd of wizards, "Queenie!" He called out. Queenie and (Y/n), both poised at the top of the stairs, turns as Queenied composed herself and (Y/n) straightened up. Abernathy moved towards them, straightening his tie, trying to appear calm and authoritative- both young women obviously made him nervous but for two separate reasons but managed to put on a large smile, "And Miss (L/n). Or should I say, soon to be Mrs. Graves." He said as (Y/n) felt a nerve pop but forced a sweet smile. He looks at Queenie, "Where are you two going?" He asked as Queenie put on an alluringly innocent expression and holds the case behind her back.

"I'm... I'm sick, Mr. Abernathy." Queenie said softly before coughing a little and widening her eyes.

"And I'm escorting her so she gets home safely and quickly before she gets even more sickly than she is now." (Y/n) hummed with a smile, linking her arm with Queenie since he knew that they were best friends and they both smile up at Abernathy innocently.

"Again? Well-what've you got there?" He asked while looking at the case Queenie held.

'Crap!' Both women think as Queenie thought fast before her face quickly breaks into a breathtaking smile.

"Ladies' things." Queenie chirped as (Y/n) smiled coyly at Abernathy, to his surprise as he began to blush. The blonde holds the case in front of her and innocently trotted up the steps towards Abernathy, "You wanna take a look?" She asked softly in a candied and alluring voice, seeming innocent, "We don't mind, right?" She hummed to the young Auror as she shook her head.

"I don't mind at all." (Y/n) answered in a rather sultry coo and coy smirk, making Abernathy swallow hard and be overcome with embarrassment at the two women's rather innocent but tempting nature.

"Oh! Good gravy, no! I-you get well now! Have a good day, Miss (L/n)!" He stammered as Queenie and (Y/n) smiled sweetly and the blonde fixes his tie.

"Thanks!" She chirped while immediately turning and hurrying down the stairs with (Y/n), leaving Abernathy-heart racing-staring after them in a flustered daze.

"Thank Merlin, finally!" (Y/n) mumbled to Queenie with an eye roll, making Queenie giggle in amusement as they rushed out of MACUSA.

Credence stood in an alleyway at the Second Salem Church pasted up posters advertising Mary Lou's next meeting. Percival apparates into the alleyway, startling Credence as he backed away and the Auror heads straight for him. His tone and mannerism urgent and forceful, "Credence. Have you found the child?" Credence grimaced and stared at the ground almost submissively. Percival began to grow impatient but feigned calm as he needed to gain Credence's trust, holding out his hand and suddenly seeming caring and affectionate, "Show me." The young man whimpered and cowered, almost backing farther away. Percival gently takes his hand in his and examines it-the hand is covered in deep red cuts, sore and bleeding. "Shhhh. My boy, the sooner we find this child, the sooner you can put that pain in the past where it belongs." Percival gently, almost seductively, moves his thumb across the cuts, healing them in an instant leaving Credence in awe. Percival then puts on an earnest, trustworthy expression as he took out a chain bearing the symbol of the Deathly Hallows out of his pocket. "I want you to have this, Credence. I would trust very few with it." He said while placing the chain around Credence's neck while whispering, "Very few." Percival places his hands on either side of Credence's neck, drawing him in as his words come out  quiet and rather intimate, "... But you-you're different." Credence grimaces as he became unsure, both nervous of and attracted by the man's behavior. Percival rests his hand on Credence's heart, covering the pendant, "Now, when you find the child, touch this symbol and I will know, and I will come to you." Percival moved closer to Credence so his face is inches from the boy's neck- the action is both alluring and threatening as he whispered again, "Do this and you will be honored among wizards. Forever." Percival pulls Credence into a hug, with his hand on Credence's neck that seemed more controlling than affectionate. The boy, overwhelmed by the seeming affection, closed his eyes and relaxed a bit. Backing away slowly and stroking Credence's neck, who kept his eyes closed and longing for the human contact to continue, Percival whispered, "The child is dying, Credence. Time is running out." He said before abruptly striding back down the alleyway. Credence thinks for a moment as he thought about that woman who was to look after him as well, he's been thinking about her a lot since it's been some time since their last meeting.

"Mr. Graves? Wh-What happened to Miss (L/n)?" He called out at Percival stopped walking. The boy grimaced as he fidgeted with his hands, "I-It's just that, I haven't s-seen her in awhile and... I w-was wondering if she was alright."

"Do you miss her?" Percival asked after a couple seconds of silence, Credemce nods.

     "Yeah, v-very." Percival hummed.

"Find the child first. And then you might be able to see her again." Percival said bluntly before continuing his stride and then Disapparating.
