Kidnapped Part 4 (SS)
"Hey sweetheart. Did you miss me?" Jinx hoped her voice portrayed how terribly sorry she was for leaving her. She already regretted it, but coming up to the window, and hearing Hayden crying desperately while her parents tried to coddle her, it made it all the more clear why Hayden told her she felt like she was on a leash when they first met.
Jinx made sure to keep herself still as she only stared at her partner. She couldn't let her eyes wander to her parents because who knows what she would do about the emotions bubbling inside her at the fact they made her Hayden cry.
The crude voice that mentioned she did the same thing yesterday was promptly ignored in favor of keeping eye contact with the other girl.
"Jinx." Her voice cracked as she whined out her name and her hands dropped back to her sides before the hand holding the gun was clutched tighter and she practically lunged across the room into her chest.
Jinx took in a deep breath and allowed herself to ease her arms back around Hayden who was clearly doing her best not to fall apart again. She kept her gaze on the ceiling for two reasons. She didn't deserve to cry, this could've been avoided if she had taken Hayden back yesterday. And also, if she didn't look up she would end up glaring at the other two in the room.
"I'm so sorry lovely. I shouldn't have left you yesterday."
Hayden shook her head and slightly pulled back to speak when she was interrupted.
"Yesterday? You were here, in our house yesterday?" Both of the young adults turned to the older woman, one pair of eyes narrowed, while the other were wide. She barely took a second to look her over before gasping, "You-you're the one who gave her that gun! You're Jinx, aren't you?!"
Hayden's father jumped back as her mother stood up and attempted to glare back at Jinx but it didn't hold any of the same venomosity.
"You think we'll let you get away with corrupting our daughter! Hayden! Get away from that girl, she's no good for you."
Jinx's hold around her arms tightened again, and Hayden could see her practically winding up, so she easily took her hands and shook her head. Jinx's jaw clenched but she easily turned back to the window and stepped outside of it, slightly pulling Hayden along.
"Hayden!!!" Both of her parents screamed as they watched her following the known criminal, but only her mother reacted and jumped to grab her sleeve before she slipped away.
"Hayden, why are you doing this? We want you safe and taken care of, and we can do that here! Whatever she's telling you is wrong, she lies, she's a criminal Hayden, you know that!"
"But she listens to me, she hears me, she sees me, she found me. That's more than I can say about anyone else."
Her mother's hold loosened and that was all it took for Hayden to completely pull away and disappear out the window with Jinx. "No!" Even her desperate reach afterward was too late. Her husband came up behind her and pulled her up into a hug. There wasn't a doubt in either of their minds that Hayden wouldn't be coming back again. At least not willingly like she did this time.
But what shocked them both was how calm she was when she left, she felt resigned to leaving them as she did, and what she said... made sense. It was exactly what she was crying about them doing, and she apparently found someone to do what they never did.
