Chapter 6
Hayden gasped when she saw tears running down the blue-haired girl's face.
"Jinx? Are you okay?" She asked while reaching out, maybe hoping to pull her into another hug or anything just to offer some kind of comfort to the crying girl. Sadly before she could Jinx turned around and quickly ran away.
Almost instinctively, Hayden went to chase after her but the other girl suddenly made use of the crates and walls around them to jump onto some railings and onto the roofs before she could catch up, and before she knew it she had lost her. She stood in place just gaping at the empty space in front of her.
Honestly, Jinx was her only real chance at figuring out how to stay out of sight as an enforcer or even having any clue about finding Caitlyn. Of course she didn't want to burden the other girl, but realistically she really should've taken her offer for her to come back after she finished her business. Hayden raised both hands to her hair and pulled it in frustration.
At that moment everything was finally hitting her and she could tell because she could suddenly feel the tears. First, she let herself get separated from her partner, then she almost died, then she found out there were enforcers working with Silco, then she had an emotional moment with the same person who tried to kill her, and then she accidentally chased off that same person leaving her all alone again. Adding to all that she felt guilty about making her cry too.
It hurt, it really hurt being alone like this. She wasn't used to reflecting on how she felt often, but she couldn't deny that today was extremely overwhelming for her. It didn't help that there was still a possibility for her to get mugged or beat up because of her uniform.
She stood like that for a while before she released her hair and wiped her eyes roughly. Crying wasn't gonna help her. She decided her best course of action would be what she did the first time when she was lost, if she could get to a higher vantage point then she could view everything below and figure out the best places to hide. And at least she still had her gun if push came to shove and something bad happened.
She wasn't as quick as either Jinx or Caitlyn, but she still received training, she just preferred to use it as a completely last resort type of thing.

Silco sighed as he turned around in his chair after Marcus finally left the room, "Ah, he's faltering."
He placed his face in his hands before he continued, "You need to weaponize the Hextech soon. Once we've cracked their prize, topside will have no power over us."
Jinx, who was sitting above him on the building's support beams had her eyes closed as she remembered what happed earlier before she had even encountered Hayden. "I can't do it. Just..." She raised her hand before waving it away dismissively, " give it to the doctor."
Silco made sure to look up at her for her to understand him. "You're the only one I can trust with this, Jinx."
The teen only grimaced and squinted her eyes closed, "I keep... seeing them." There were slight tears in her eyes as she thought back again, "That day."
He just stood up before fully turning around and looking at her. "Fear haunts us all, child."

Silco and Jinx were both standing in some of the more shallow parts of Stillwater. He stood in front of her before starting his speech, "I almost drowned in these waters."
The beginning already brought up familiar ramblings she had heard so many times before so she twisted herself a few times to show her disdain for it again, "You told me a million times."
"Vander wasn't the man you thought he was."
"Right, he was like a brother to you, and he turned his back and blah, blah, blah." She changed her voice to mock him and prove her point that she knew the story and didn't see why she needed to hear it again." Did I miss anything?"
Silco gave a small snicker of amusement at how impatient she was. "I've got a new one for you." He carefully let his hand run through the water before raising it and letting the liquid slip through his fingers before making a fist around it, "That day, I let a weak man die."
Jinx stood still as she watched her father figure then dive below the surface of the water for a few seconds before he reemerged and wiped the water from his face a few times.
"And another was reborn." He made sure to look at her as he spoke, "Betrayal, that pain that feels like it'll eat you from the inside out, can either break you or forge you into something greater. You need to let Powder die." She stared up at him and it was obvious that she was at least partially nervous about where this could be going, but she trusted him.
"So the fear of pain will no longer control you." He offered her his hand to her and Jinx slowly approached him before taking his hand just as there was a rumble of thunder in the distance.
"You're strong now. Just like you were always meant to be. Jinx is perfect." He then slowly took her into his arms and brought her close before lowering her into the water while she made sure to focus on him until she was completely submerged.
Note: This chapter is much shorter than usual so I'm sorry, but I'll try to get the next chapter out as soon as possible. It might even be later today or tomorrow because I'm already working on it, but don't hold me to that, please.
