~Chapter 1~

"You know what? We're through!" Takashi said, slamming the door behind him.

I didn't run after him this time instead, I sat on my couch and watched t.v. At this point, running after him is all I do in the relationship. Everything started off so well in the beginning, even if we tried we couldn't fight. Now that's all we can ever do, fight over anything and everything. We might break up today but in a day or two we'll be back together and it just repeats. I don't know why we continue to do this, maybe we're afraid that this is as good as it gets. Before I could really tune into the show I saw Rachel walk in.

"I saw Takashi storming out of the house. Another breakup?" Rachel asked, sitting down next to me.

"It wouldn't be Takashi without a breakup this week." I sighed. The sad reality is that it's true, we have a breakup each week, two weeks if we mostly avoid each other, and we just get back together. This week it was over because I missed a few calls from him.

"Jane, I'm going to tell you something because I care about you." Rachel started. "I know in the beginning everyone wanted you guys to date and we were happy when you got together. But, what's going on between the two of you isn't a healthy relationship."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked, slightly confused at what she was getting at.

"Couples aren't supposed to be off and on in a relationship. Jane, what started out as something beautiful has turned ugly and toxic. I'm saying this as a concerned friend since I don't want to watch this happen anymore." Rachel said.

"So you're saying Takashi and I should break up?" I questioned. It got quiet between us, the only noise was coming from the t.v.

"Yes, I think you and Takashi should break up before it gets more harmful." She finally spoke up. "I know you want to hold onto what the two of you have but it's destroying you both."

"How could I possibly tell him this?" I asked.

"Don't be scared, be brave, and tell him how you feel and you think the two of you need to break up and not get back together," Rachel replied. "And wait to find the best time to tell him."

The hardest part about the conversation is that Rachel's right and me and Takashi can't keep doing this to each other. I don't want to let our relationship go but if I don't then we will damage each other. So with only two options in this situation, I have to choose the best option for both of us.

"It's going to be okay Jane. I know at the moment this all seems bad but it will get better." Rachel encouraged.

"I hope your right. At the moment this all seems wrong to do." I said with a frown.

"Let's go out, I don't want you to stay at home being sad." Rachel said.

With no protest, I got up and followed her out the door.
