Youth

A man watered plants and told me he remembered me.
An old Turkish woman offered me nuts.
Life seems so much simpler and better for me
Perhaps they just may understand.

I don't want to sin or be mentioned as one
I do want no blood on my hands.
I'll follow my dreams, my voice and His command
Wherever it may lead me.

I don't feel so young but I neither feel old
In my soul, not physically health-wise
But oh in my bones, this vessel of hope
I breathe in the air so serene!

I loved and I lost, but I still love some more
Than the times when I once turned to hate
I'm healing with faith, my goodwill and strength
And love for the great outdoors.

And, suddenly,
I feel younger than ever before.
