I sit in a corner away from the other kids. A few people ask me my name and I tell them and then they walk over to the 10 year olds obviously more interested in them.

"Hello? Who are you?"

I look up to see a women with black hair that's dyed red toward the bottom and brown eyes. She is wearing a shirt that says jailhouse six. Is that a band?

"My name is Erin." I say shyly.

She smiles and says "Can I sit next to you Erin?"

I slowly nod my head.

"So Erin what do you like to do?" The woman says.

"I like writing and drawing. What is your name ma'am?"

The woman laughs a little and says "sorry my name is Kim. So writing that's cool."

I say " yeah I guess. You can look at the other kids you know."

She says "why would I do that when I already found who I'm going to adopt?"

I sigh and say "So who are you adopting then?"

Kim thinks and says "Well if you think it's okay​ then I guess you, if you want."

I look at her is surprise "Me but.... Why me? Why not one of the other kids? I'm not worth it."

She looks at me a little confused and says " you are fine okay​ I don't want the other kids I want you Erin. If that's okay​ with you?"

I say "Really you mean it? Um sure ma'am."

She laughs and says "Better tell Mrs.Kate then."

Kim leads me to Mrs.Kate and says " I would like to adopt Erin."

Mrs.Kate looks at me excitedly as this is the first time for anyone to be even remotely interested in me in years.

"Sure Erin is a lovely kid. So Ms.Richards would you come to my office and sign some papers while Erin gets packed?"

Kim says "Sure, see you in a bit Erin." I hurry to my room to get packed. I can't wait to get out of here.
