"I'm sorry." Steve said softly.

Nera looked up and gave him a small smile. "It's okay. Didn't really know the man for so long. In fact, I got over it."

The duo walked down the corridors as they headed to the labs. Tony and Bruce had taken the biggest one since it had nearly everything they needed.

As soon as they reached the lab that Tony and Bruce were in, a small yell was heard.

"Ow!"

Steve was the first to run in while Nera walked behind him. "Hey!" He exclaimed, walking up to Tony and Bruce who were standing infront of Loki's scepter that was lying down on a stand.

"Nothing?" Stark asked, turning to look at Bruce. Nera frowned at Tony's moves. That wasn't a good idea to do something like that especially to Bruce.

"Tony!" Nera exclaimed in shock.

"Are you nuts?" The captain spoke up.

Tony ignored the two and continued. "Jury's out. You really have got a handle on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?"

"Is everything a joke to you?" Steve spoke louder this time.

Now, Stark looked up at Rogers. "Funny things are."

"Threatening the safety of this ship isn't funny," Steve raised his brows but then glanced at Bruce. "No offense, Doctor."

"No, no. It's alright," Banner shook his head and looked down at the scepter. "I wouldn't have come aboard if I couldn't handle pointy things." He replied, glancing between Tony and the computer, trying to focus on the work.

Tony took a few steps away from Bruce, holding the little tazer in his possession and flipping it between his fingers. "You're tip-toein', Big Man." He chuckled. "You need to struggle."

"And you need to focus on the problem, Mr. Stark!" Steve interrupted.

"Guys..." The creature beside them sighed, staring at the two arguing.

"You think I'm not?" Stark questioned, glancing between Rogers and Banner as he made his way towards the scepter that they were studying on the desk. "Why did Fury call us in? Why now? Why not before? What's he not telling us? I can't do the equations unless I don't have all the variables."

"You think Fury's hiding something?" Steve asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He's a spy. Captain, he is the spy. His secrets have secrets. It's buggin' him too," He gestured towards the doctor.

A look of realisation crossed Steve's face. "It's bugging them too, isn't it?" He asked.

A sense of uneasiness was felt from Bruce, making Nera glance at him. "Look, I'm here just to do my job-"

"Doctor?" Nera interjected, everyone looking at the doctor expectantly.

Bruce sighs and reaches up to his glasses to remove them and sets them on the desk. Taking a moment, he answered, " "A warm light for all mankind." Loki's jab at Fury about the cube,"

"I heard it," Steve nodded, wanting Bruce to continue and so Bruce does.

"Well, I think that was meant for Tony. Even if Barton didn't post it all over the news." The doctor stated.

"The Stark Tower?" Steve raises his eyebrow in a questioning manner. "That big, ugly-" The genius tech and the red scaled beast stared at him with daring looks. "-building on New York?"

"It's powered by Stark Reactors - self-sustaining energy source. That building will run itself for what, a year?" Bruce asked, glancing at Tony who, in turn, nodded.

"It's just a prototype. Yeah... I'm kind of the only name in clean energy right now," Tony said smugly. Nera gave him a boring look before focusing back.

"So if you're the only name in clear energy why wouldn't they bring you in on the Tesseract project?" Bruce wondered aloud from behind the scepter.

Tony made a popping sound from his lips and nodded as he crossed his arms. "I should probably look into that once my decryption programmer finishes breaking into all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secure photos."

Nera blinked a few times. "I'm sorry. Did I-"

"Did you just say-" Steve tried once but was cut off.

"J.A.R.V.I.S. has been running through it since I hit the bridge," Tony stated, wring it off as if it was nothing. "In just a few hours, we'll know every dirty, little secret S.H.I.E.L.D. is hiding." A smirk plastered on his lips then looking at Steve to offer him the blueberry he was eating but to have been refused.

"Yet you're confused about why they don't want you around..." Steve asked and took step back to observe everyone.

"We've got an intelligence that fears intelligence," Tony replied with a shrug. "That's like historically not possible!"

"I think Loki's trying to wind us up. This is a man who means to start a war and if we don't stay focused, he'll succeed. We have orders so we should follow them," set everything stated as he straightened himself and made sure everyone listened.

Nera scoffed but stayed quiet. But, of course, Tony spoke his thoughts. "Following isn't my style." He approached the captain with a smug look that Steve already began to hate.

"'Cause you're all about style, aren't you, Stark?" Rogers responded as if accepting a daring challenge from Tony. Their faces hardened as the two stared at each other with such intensity that it was making everyone in the room uncomfortable.

Nera and Bruce shared a glance towards each other, both knowing that the two of them won't be getting along on this argument.
