Chapter 9: Heading Back
Jamie and Vi sailed back to the docks in silence and it stayed that way until they were at the main elevator for the Undercity.
"It must be weird coming back here since you haven't been there in over ten years," Vi commented.
"Well, I wouldn't say that," Jamie replied.
"And why is that?" Vi questioned.
Before Jamie could answer, a familiar voice to her demanded, "Freeze!"
"Oh shit," the sisters muttered.
"Hands up and turn around!" the female voice commanded.
They obeyed and Jamie shook off her hood, seeing the familiar enforcer with her gun at them.
"Hey Caitlyn," she waved awkwardly.
"Jamie? What are you doing here?" Caitlyn asked.
"You two know each other?" Vi questioned.
"She's the only enforcer I trust. We met at the academy," Jamie answered.
"We're not all bad," Caitlyn pointed out.
"Oh I know that, but that doesn't change how I feel about some of them," Jamie pointed out.
"Can we not be under arrest? She just bailed me out," Vi remarked.
"What? Why would she do that?" Caitlyn asked.
"She's my sister," Jamie said, shocking Caitlyn, then she added, "She's also helping me with something else and in return, we're gonna look for our younger sister."
"What is so important you needed to do this?" Caitlyn questioned.
"What is this, 20 Questions? Huh, Cupcake?" Vi said.
Caitlyn rolled her eyes at that before looking back at Jamie for answers.
"Viktor's dying. I've been trying to figure out a cure for him and the one I know of is where we're from," Jamie answered.
Caitlyn thought about it for a minute before sighing and lowering her weapon, making the sisters put their hands down.
"Only because you're doing this for people you care about," Caitlyn told her.
"Fair enough," Jamie said.
"But I'm coming with you," Caitlyn remarked.
"Oh hell no. You think after that, we're just gonna let you in our little group?" Vi said.
"You heard your sister; I'm the only enforcer she trusts, which should be good enough for you," Caitlyn pointed out.
"We're actually working on being on better terms, so..." Jamie trailed off.
"Whatever. The point is I also know Viktor and I want to make sure he lives too. And I'll even help you both find your other sister," Caitlyn replied.
Vi and Jamie looked at each other before looking back at Caitlyn.
"Can you give us a minute?" Jamie requested.
"Sure," Caitlyn said.
The two sisters stepped to the side.
"You seriously want to let her in on this? This was just supposed to be between us," Vi remarked.
"You don't think I know that? But it wouldn't hurt to have more help," Jamie pointed out then added with a smirk, "Besides, you seem to see something in her. Cupcake, huh?"
"Don't read into that. Anyway, you two are in over your heads. The Undercity will eat her alive and you haven't been in a while, meaning I'm gonna have to cover both of your asses down there and it won't be pretty," Vi said.
"Who says you will? Caitlyn and I are tougher than we look. You of all people ought to know that," Jamie stated.
Vi sighed, knowing she wasn't gonna win this.
"Come on, Cupcake. Let's go," Vi called, heading for the elevator.
"Stop calling me that," Caitlyn remarked, her and Jamie following Vi.
"But you're sweet like a cupcake," Vi pointed out.
As they headed down, Jamie gave her a nod with a smile in thanks, and Vi returned it.
Meanwhile, Jayce stayed with Viktor, waiting to hear more from the doctors. Then one of them came in, making Jayce stand up.
"Anything?" he asked.
"Yes, but it's not good. His condition has worsened since he was last seen. It looks like he'll only live until the end of the year," the doctor told him.
Jayce sighed, sad to hear that before saying, "Thank you."
He nodded to him before checking on Viktor then leaving. Jayce then pulled out the device and contacted Jamie.

A/N Oh man. This isn't good for Viktor. But at least Caitlyn is joining Jamie and Vi. Hope things go well.
