Encountering the Ghost Train
Chapter #6: Encountering the Ghost Train
One foggy evening, Jaune and topaz were in the cab of Wilbert the blue Steam Engine 0-4-0 Bagnallw as returning home after a hard days work at the docks. He was tired and in need of a long rest. He was traveling along a route he knew of, which was a short cut to get home. Percy knew where he was, even in the dark.
Wilbert: I shan't be long now for I'm nearing Crowe's Farm Crossing.
Crowe's Farm Crossing was located near Hackenbeck, which was a small hamlet, serving as a halt on Thomas' Branch Line. As Wilbert continued his run, the rails hummed and the signal lights shone green. Then he heard a whistle that was not familiar to him and then a voice, echoing in the darkness.
???: Children... Children...
Jaune: (confused) The hell was that whistle!?
Topaz: I don't know, but I've never heard a whistle or a voice like that...
was confused. He slowed down and whistled back.
Wilbert: Hello? Is someone there?
???: I like children... I like children...
Wilbert was getting more confused. As he rounded the curve and about to cross Crowe's Farm Crossing... he and his driver and fireman both gasped in horror as another engine shot out of the fog That almost striked a similar resemblance to Thomas but not at the same time, whistling fit to burst with a face that had a very demonic look.
Timothy (evil and demonic): WELCOME TO YOUR GRAVESTONE!!!
Topaz: What the hell!?
Wellbert wailed out, whistling long and loud as he closed his eyes, expecting a crash... but then silence quickly fell. Cautiously, Wilbert opened one eye as his driver and fireman, both shaking in fright looked out from opposites sides of the cab.
Topaz: What in satin's name was that?!
Jaune: The question is who the hell was that...!?
Wilbert: Tha...tha..tha... tha... that... was... was.. was a... ghost train!
Jaune: but that's impossible. There's no way that there could be a ghost train on the railway of Sodor.. I mean it almost looked identical to Thomas. Did he had a brother..
Topaz: to be honest, I wouldn't even want to know right now. We all need to get some sleep..
Wilbert: yeah probably we should. I'm going to need to be locked up in the sheds for some time now to get some sleep and try to get that image out of my head..
Wilbert continued on his route, the eerie encounter lingered in the air like a chill. Jaune, still reeling from the sight of the ghostly engine, tried to shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in his stomach.
Jaune: (trying to sound brave) It was just a trick of the fog, right? Maybe we imagined it?
Topaz: (shaking his head) I don't know, Jaune. That whistle... it sounded too real.
Wilbert, who was still trembling, let out a low whistle of uncertainty.
Wilbert: I don't think I can dismiss that so easily, lads. Ghosts or no ghosts, we can't let fear rule us.
As they approached Wilbert's personal shed next to John's apartment gently near the buffers without him being derailed as both Jaune and Topaz got off of Wilbert's cab and decided to make sure nothing gets in the sheds and lock the doors. Making sure that Wilbert will be safe by whatever they saw.
Jaune decided to let topaz sleep for the night in the apartment after the supernatural event that happened.
After ensuring that Wilbert was settled safely in the shed, Jaune made his way to the small apartment nearby, where he had been staying. The night was still thick with fog, and the eerie feeling from their earlier encounter clung to him like a shadow.
Jaune: (opening the door) I'll just grab a quick bite before bed. Maybe some food will help me think straight.
He stepped into the cozy little apartment, its warm glow contrasting sharply with the chilling encounter outside. Jaune moved to the small kitchen area, grabbing a loaf of bread and some cheese. As he munched on his snack, his mind raced.
Jaune: (to himself) A ghost train... Timothy. What did he want?
Just then, there was a soft knock at the door. Jaune turned to see Topaz, looking a bit more at ease but still visibly shaken.
Topaz: (entering) Hey, I couldn't sleep. That ghost train really got to me.
Jaune: (nodding) Same here, to be honest that goes train almost look like Thomas. I can't tell if they're related or not seen that they were both the same e2 tank engines..
Topaz: do you think we should tell them..
Jaune: perhaps not.. it's kind of lightened there. We are sleep so perhaps tomorrow would be a better time.. do you want to sleep with me..?
Topaz: Yeah I do need some comfort after that ghost trainer deal...
Jaune: (gesturing to the small couch) Here, you can take the couch. I'll grab a blanket for you.
Topaz: Thanks, Jaune. I appreciate it.
As Jaune rummaged through the small closet, he couldn't shake off the image of Timothy from his mind. The ghostly engine had seemed so filled with malevolence, so different from the friendly faces of the engines he had come to know. He retrieved a warm blanket and tossed it over Topaz.
Jaune: (sitting on the floor) Just try to relax. We'll figure this out in the morning.
Topaz settled into the couch, his eyes fluttering as he tried to fight off sleep. Jaune, on the other hand, found it hard to close his eyes. He leaned against the wall, staring into the dimly lit room, his thoughts racing.
Jaune: (whispering to himself) Timothy... why do you haunt the tracks? What happened to you?
He imagined the ghost train's face, twisted in a grin that seemed to promise all sorts of horrors. It was a stark contrast to the friendly engines of Sodor.
