Tingling
The sound of the instrument resonated from afar, filling the ears underwater with its subdued tonality.
Swish swoosh. Ting. Nice little notes. Water. Cold. Comforting.
The temperature soothed the girl's head as she pushed against the water, her muscles and thoughts relaxing simultaneously. Her unnecessary fretting began to subside, her focus shifting to the way the water was shifting. Following her whim, constrained by the forces of nature.
Good. No one else is here.
Her body was slightly strained, owing to have not done this in so long, but it made her only feel more refreshed.
Nostalgic, too.
Things are incredibly different now. Perhaps not really very different, but I feel like I am in a different world. The things that are important, the people that are important, the way my days go, the things I wish for... a lot of it I never thought I wanted, but now I cannot lose them.
Lucky me. Please continue to be lucky. Please have them forever. Please have them in the best of all manners. Please.
In a momentary blip one face stood out. A truly new period of time for the girl, perhaps for the other too. One factor transformed the way she wished her future to be completely, or perhaps it created it what never existed.
So happy. So grateful. Work hard. Try before you cry. But the unwarranted jabs of anxiety did not hold back.
Don't take them away from me.
A numbing. A pinching sensation. A little unsettled, a little warm in the memory, a little cold with the reality, very hopeful and wishful despite the number of times her face was submerged in her own water.
A momentary return to a more innocent time.
The notes continued to fill the water and the odd sound continued to become something familiar to the girl, its overlaps with the audio of the fluid's motion becoming a presence of fondness.
Away from everyone. Strangers, presences that would feel like noise at the moment. Known ones, that could be unnecessary. Close ones, that could be infuriating or loving. She was there alone with the elements that played with her, working with the forces of nature and responding to her actions.
A slight numbness. Tingling. Loose and free, content to move as the waves commanded at times. Water everywhere.
Water is refreshing.
Gravity was not the only weight she felt as she stepped out of the water.
