ARAMINTA SOLARII is a weapon. 

        She is violence coated in sapphire skin, livewires for legs and knives for fingers. Ever since the infamous Vestor Octavian had found her as a child and taken her from her homeworld, she had been denied the choice of good and evil, black or white, sun or moon. Inducted into a program that trained and birthed some of the best assassins, mercenaries and fighters in the galaxy, she had been moulded into something beyond human, stripped of her innocence and left with a brand burned on her arm, a permanent marker that reminded her of the brutalities she'd committed to survive the horrors of Octavian's training and expectations. 

        When an anonymous job sends Araminta after a man named Obi-Wan Kenobi, she expects it to be an easy in-and-out mission, a knife to the throat and strolling back to the extraction point. But as it turns out, the Jedi identity of the man she'd been sent to kill had been kept a secret from her, and before Araminta can realise the reality of the suicide mission, she is caught off guard and it's too late. Sitting in front of the Jedi Council, awaiting harsh punishment for her attempted assassination and knowing Octavian would rule her a lost cause, she has nowhere to go.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER is the Chosen One. 

        He is quiet scolding, bruised knuckles and bent by the pressure of potential he feels he cannot reach. When an assassin attempts to take the life of his master in front of him, he sees more than bloody hands and iron, he sees an opportunity to prove he is learning to make the right decisions and keep peace. He steps forward, claiming that the would-be killer of his own teacher did not deserve her punishment, and should instead make up for her attempted murder by working to keep Obi-Wan alive. 

        He knows that she has never been much of a protector, but he assumes her skillset is easy to switch around when faced with the assignment of keeping guard over the man she'd been paid to kill, or facing a punishment she may have truly deserved in the first place. If Obi-wan Kenobi died, she died. Those were the terms.

        As it would turn out, the unrequested second chance would take Araminta across the stars and to the corners of the galaxy alongside the Jedi, stripping her of the security and the violence Octavian had beaten into her. Without the assassin leader, she had no idea who she was, for the first time in her life able to choose. She supposed she owed it all to Anakin, who had been able to see something in her a time when she, herself, could not. More than the assassin she had been raised to be, more than a weapon to be used and bloodied.

        If only Araminta had known how everything would twist, as the war comes to an end and she finds herself repeating cycles of violence she had tried to outrun. Maybe, she thinks, this was meant to happen. Maybe she is here because she is capable. Or maybe she is Anakin's own undoing, a decision he cast as a teenager, threatening him as the galaxy hinges on collapse. This was nothing like what Araminta had signed up for when she had agreed to a plea deal to keep herself alive.

warnings.      violence, sexual references, strong language, some gory scenes, angst, mentions and some detailed descriptions of mature themes such as abuse, brainwashing, torture, mental illnesses, suicide and death. the main character is an assassin and deals with a lot of psychological shifts and ideologies.

before reading.      [ 1 ] this is a long fic. it is 90 chapters, and later chapters are often 7k+ words. at the time of editing this intro chapter, the wordcount is close to 200k at 30 chapters.

[ 2 ] araminta takes place over 'attack of the clones', 'the clone wars' series, and 'revenge of the sith'. most of this story is clone wars series content, as i feel it is the best way to flesh out characters and anakin especially. when i say that i mean 2.5 out of 4 acts are clone wars episodes, adding up to about 80% of the chapters as well.

i have chosen arcs and episodes that i think highlight canon characters and opportunities for araminta the best, but not all episodes or story of the clone wars is covered here, just key moments. for those who aren't as familiar with the series, canon dialogue and stories are still written and summarised for context.

[ 3 ] there are no official faceclaims, given the switch between live action and animated. araminta is also a  fictional alien race, which is of my creation, but related to canon. this is expanded on in later chapters.

[ 4 ] some slight timeline changes- eg clone wars lasts for 4 years as opposed to 3

[ 5 ] plot changes are made most notably in revenge of the sith, which will be noticeable as that gets closer. it doesn't divulge into full AU territory but this is still worth mentioning

winter talks!      hello hello and welcome! be prepared. this story and araminta are my pride and joy and years in the making tbh. she's very near and dear to me, and for anyone who remembers this fic from 2018, you're amazing, because araminta used to be blonde and a lot less fun to read about

      araminta is an assassin and it's a big, big part of her character. she is not a character to idolise or take notes from lmao and please don't think she's reflective of my ideals on violence and such. i put a lot of effort into her psychology and how she processes her past and comes to terms with it across many chapters and acts.

      this is honestly a big fat love letter to a lot of tropes and characters that nurtured my writing style overtime, so do enjoy!

      big extended cast obvs, especially if you've never watched clone wars. it's all for aesthetic reasons but also maybe foreshadowing, but do feel free to come back once some of the side ocs come in so you can visualise them!

      anyways, with all that said, really excited for this long journey and araminta's arc and i hope everyone else is too and i'll see y'all in the first chapter!
