Zero
Zero - Prologue
"Fury, I know this is a bad time, but it's urgent," an agent called out behind their boss, who was watching the tesseract act up. Nick didn't want to talk, in fact, he didn't even want to listen. All of the agents were supposed to clear out, not wait around. It annoyed him that agents couldn't follow one simple order to potentially save their life. He had contemplated firing them at that very moment. He didn't, although, seeing what they brought him was highly important.
Alas, he turned around... and almost wished he hadn't. Maybe it excited him, having her back again, but her impeccable timing was off the charts irritating. She was handcuffed and her shoulders were held up while her knees touched the ground. The HYDRA bodysuit she wore was black and grey with the HYDRA symbol on her chest, there was blood dripping from the corner of her mouth onto the skull of the symbol. Her brunette hair was in tangles front the fight and it fell awkwardly over her shoulders as she glared intently at the hard ground. Her hands were coated in red and, for the first time, Fury looked at the agents faces as the cuts on their cheekbones and lips bled. They gave him intense looks, trying to mask the fear of being under Nick's hard gaze. They had finally captured Arachne, and on the worst day to do so.
Her angry face turned up to meet his, hazel eyes striking into his brown ones.
Even as emotionless as Fury was, she could read the worry in his eyes. She feasted on the emotions of others and turned them onto themselves. It was a specialty she acquired. Not only was she fast and had abilities unknown to humans, but she could manipulate without any of her modifications. It just took practice and, hell, she had more than enough time in her hands to practice. Being alive for so long have the HYDRA soldier an outlook on people that most couldn't comprehend, not that she really remembered most of her years alive.
"Keep her secure, wait for direction," Fury demanded, breaking out of his thoughts as the tesseract shot out some sort of portal, electric blue light going everywhere. He jumped into action and awaited what felt like the beginnings of another battle at the directors feet. Even if he hadn't known it, this predicament was partially at his accord, seeing as he'd poked and prodded at the cube, hoping to do something that he would call 'great' for SHEILD. Of course, other people would say it was more along the lines of 'insane' but the man had no care on what others thought of him.
Agents held up their guns and slowly creeped up to the spot after it had calmed down. Where the tesseract left the blue, emerged a man with golden horns and a glowing spear. He eyed the agents and captured girl around him looking for potential goons to take charge of and force to do all the hard work while he sat back like a king. Fury began to order the spear to be set down, but the man wasn't one to comply to humans and smirked menacingly, striking a blue beam from the spear and alerting the surrounding agents.
Once everyone was distracted by the mysterious man, Arachne took this as her chance to escape. With superhuman strength, she pulled her hands apart. The metal bent and snapped, setting her free. She threw the cuffs to the side and took her free hand up, punching one of the agents, causing him to fly back on impact. The other held up his gun in the direction of her shoulder, but Arachne swiftly kicked it away and punched him, smiling as he fell to the ground. She turned around just in time to catch an arrow shot her way.
"You can't get rid of me that easily, pretty boy," she said, directing her smirk at Hawkeye and throwing the arrow down as his eyes widened at the girl. Hawkeye wasn't only surprised that she'd caught his arrow this time, but he also couldn't digest the nickname she'd called him. Looking around, Arachne saw that Loki had almost killed every Agent in the room. "I'll be on my way no-" just as she turned to leave, she was hit upside the head by a gun and went out cold. Her body fell limp to the ground as the portal man almost chuckled at her lack of observation... or maybe it was her over confidence that allowed her to be caught once more.
"It was that easy?"
"She is part spider," he concluded, dropping the gun and going back to Hawkeye to make him obey the tesseract and see the knowledge it harbored. The bow bearing man lifted a brow at Loki's comment on Jessica and hoped it was just his keen intuition, maybe a power of sorts.
