Prompt 3

Team Meta was whirling through the terrorist organization as easily as one would cut a cake. There was the slight danger and acknowledgement that something could go wrong, but it still is pretty easy to cut a cake. Mike, Hans, Lea, Sophie and Dan were the best of the best metas, thus being chosen for Team Meta. It could also be the fact that they were the only metas to exist, but I, Mike, the team leader, liked to keep every thing looking like a joke, so that the rest of the team didn't have to bear with the fact that their burden was theirs alone. That's why they didn't know they were alone.
Sophie and Hans seemed to hate my guts, but that was probably because of how I threw a frisbee into Hans's face by mistake, and didn't apologize because I was trying to impress Sophie. Unfortunately, all I got was hate from both sides. Probably would have been better if I knew they were related. Sophie could control Earth, Hans could control Air.
Dan and I didn't talk much, because he preferred silence, and honestly? He creeped me out way too much, so I let him be. I swear that guy would have been the God of Introverts if they knew him. Obviously, Dan got the power to control darkness. All the creepy stuff. Shadows, hallucinations, blindness, and just regular old shadow blasts, because how can a power be fun if you can't hurt people with it, am I right? No? Ok...
And that leaves Lea. She can control water. Honestly, if I met her before I met Sophie, I'd probably have not even tried to impress Sophie. She's smart, beautiful, and strong. Rawr!
That leaves me. You probably have guessed my power already. Lemme give you some clues. It's orange, hot, starts with F, and ends with 'ire'. That's right, fire! I guess it suits me 'cos of how hot I am *wink*. I'm unstoppable, able to destroy everything except water. That's why I rely on Lea. If I go overboard, she calms me down, and if she goes overboard, I calm her down. You can see how we eventually began to trust each other so much. Soon enough, we found ourselves in a dating-not dating relationship. We would treat each other like they're the Special Ones, go out to movies alone, hold hands when we're alone, but still think we're not dating. Well, she thinks that. I'm just waiting for her to accept it, so that we could speed things along.
Anyways, I rambled a little over there. The terrorist organization that threatened to nuke my home town, Gazeera, stood no chance against us.
After properly tying the members up, we all turned to leave, and I flew off. That's right. Each of our powers gave us some modes of transport that work great. I can cover myself with flames, turn into smoke and fly as smoke. Yes that's right, I'm not like 'the Human Torch' because his method of flying makes NO sense at all. Lea can cover herself with moisture from the air and carry herself, Hans... well you can guess, he literally controls air. Sophie has a sort of surfboard that she slides around on, and uses the earth to control it. It's not like your average surfboard though, it's shiny, and contains a million little gadgets that could turn me into a Mike-kabeb. Dan though, his method makes no sense either. He literally just walks into a shadow he creates, and teleports.
Yes I know that's not original but go figure, I didn't know what else to write.
I'd like to say he did a bunch of practice and discovered me, but that would be lying. What actually happened was that I tripped him, and rather than bumping into the wall, he fell right through it. When I went to check what happened, he wasn't there. Let's just say someone that was definitely not me screamed.
Immediately upon reaching base, Henry informed us about a tribe of sorts at the border, brandishing weapons. He told us that Dan was already there, checking to see how dangerous they were. Right on cue, our earpiece beeped thrice, our signal for 'There's a bunch of enemies here, and the world will die if we don't kill them'. That wasn't the official code, but I liked it, because it fit.
Unfortunately, Dan wasn't the type to make pranks, so he was probably saying the truth. I took the exact location from Henry and smoke travelled over.
When Henry said tribe, I thought of a handful of people wearing skulls and waving bones. I did NOT expect to see thousands and thousands of men, wearing armor, and waving swords and spears and axes. 'Henry, couldn't you have warned us that they were an army and not a tribe?!' I screamed into the earpiece. Everyone else flinched, hearing my rather loud voice screaming into their ears too.
'Ok team, attack plan 6' I ordered. Missions like these tended to put me in a serious tone, because who could joke about this? The rest of the team nodded, probably because they knew we had no other choice. The plan was that Hans and Lea would blast them with air and water to push them onto the ground, then I'd create a massive firestorm and, unfortunately, kill as many as I could, and Dan would blind them, then we would finish of the few survivors.
The plan worked amazingly. Out of the few thousand warriors we had, only a few hundred survived. We went in, weapons blazing. I pulled out my favorite sword, because it came with a special magnetic glove. That meant that I could throw the sword and pull it back. The magnet was special too. It could only pull back the sword, no other metal. I could have a crate full of all existing metals and wave my glove over it, and only the sword would come out of it.
I yelled, covering my sword with fire to cause more damage, and threw it. My aim hit true to the target, and a hairy man fell. The other cool part was that my sword could cut through everything except SUPER strong metals.
The rest of the battle was a red blur. Screaming and slashing rung in my ears, and soon I found myself standing, back to a very tiny crowd of warriors. Dan did his signature move, throwing his dagger, and making it so multiple shadow travels, and killing each man. I looked walked to Hans, who was breathing heavily. He looked up and his eyes widened. 'What?' I asked, wondering if he was going to pull a 'I got scared of your ugly face' joke at this time. 'Instead, he lifted his shaking hand and pointed to my gut. I looked down, and almost screamed. A dagger was embedded in my gut, going up to the hilt in flesh. I knew from my old biology classes that it had probably destroyed something dangerous. Slowly and carefully, I touched it. Suddenly, as if I flipped a switch, the pain flooded over me. I yelped, and sank to my knees, then flopped onto the ground.

*Leas Point Of View*
I seriously contemplated dancing, because we just killed thousands of men! When I put it like that, it seemed evil, until I thought about how they wanted to destroy us. A smile spread on my face. That's when everything went wrong. A yelp, followed by a thud, rung across the now silent battlefield. I looked around, afraid the worst had happened. Unfortunately, the worst HAD happened. Mike was on the ground, gasping for air, and his shirt was turning so red, it looked black. I ran over to him. 'No. No no no no MIKE! No don't leave me please' I sobbed and sank to my knees next to him. He weakly gripped my hand and smiled, but I could see the pain in his eyes. 'I take it you're finally my girlfriend now?' He asked. I let out a watery laugh. 'Yes. Yes I am, and I will be your wife too if you live. Ok? Live and we will be together forever' I told him. His laugh turned into a bloody cough. 'I love you, my baby shark' he whispered. 'Mike no don't go! We didn't even officially date yet... Mike please...' I begged. I tore a piece out of his shirt, slowly pulled out the dagger in his side, with a few painful grunts from him, and tried to staunch the bleeding. 'Mike you're gonna be okay, just hold on a little longer!' I ordered. He nodded. I went to tear off another piece, but he pulled me back gently. I sat next to his head. 'I'm not getting through this alive, so would you give me the privilege to talk to a beautiful goddess that I absolutely love?' He asked. It took me a second to realize he was asking if he could spend his last moments talking to me. 'I don't have long left, so I'm just going to tell you, don't regret that I died. Celebrate that we met. Remember that time at the movies? The movie was horrible, and we were all alone, in the theatre room. You were surprised when I said that was the best day ever. It wasn't because of the movie though. Just being alone, holding hands and staring at the amazing woman sitting next to me made my day. I just ask for one favor.' At this point he was breathing heavily, like he was finding it hard to take breaths. 'Anything, Mike anything' I sobbed out. 'Just remember me. Please. Don't forget me' a few tears fell out of his eyes. It hit me then, how scared he probably was. He was just a 21 year old man, already on his deathbed, knowing there was no way he could survive. His grip on my hand loosened. Suddenly, by pure instinct, I swooped in towards his face and our lips connected. His lips were cold, but I could get a small taste of strawberries, his favorite fruit. He was shocked for a few seconds, then relaxed, and closed his eyes. I kept our lips connected a few more seconds, then broke free. He looked at me, a sad look, and smiled. Then he let go of my hand, and the light in his eyes dimmed. Even in death, Mike was smiling. I sobbed into his chest, crying my eyes and heart out, because the pain, oh the pain. It was everywhere and nowhere, and it felt like someone had squeezed my heart so much, that it had exploded.

*2 years later*

Team Meta was no longer a group of friends. It was more a group of colleagues. Mike was the flare in our group, which was funny because his power was fire. Ever since his death, we held a huge funeral, and celebrated his birthday, and death anniversary. Every year, on the day we first went out, and technically started dating, I would sit alone in my room and cry, and cry, and cry, then I'd go lay out some flowers on his grave. Even now, 2 years later, the pain felt too fresh.
We all missed him, even Sophie and Hans. He was the one person that could lift our moods with a simple look that told us he was going to say something funny that would make us laugh immediately. He never realized we used to laugh at the look, instead of his joke.
I became the new leader of Team Meta. The rest of the team picked me themselves, and when we finally got back to base and told Henry's what happened (which made me start crying all over again), the first thing he did after holding a moment of silence was appoint me leader. It became official. But things will never be the same. Never.
That's why I ended up breaking into the new bio lab, where it was reported they could recreate a human, with the same looks, same personality, and same age as time of death, with all the memories. It could only be done on someone that was dead though. All it needed was a piece of that persons bone. It was why I had committed the unholy sin of digging up hi grave and breaking off his rib. After hurling up all my lunch, I had rushed to the lab, and practically threw in the rib. I impatiently waited as the machine did its thing, and fell asleep while waiting. In the morning, a beep woke me up. I looked around drearily, and noticed the machine flashing a green sign. The glass screen that was used to see the progress was fogged up. I pressed the button with shaky hands, and the glass screen opened. Smoke poured out, and a form sat up, almost like a horror movie.
Mike looked up at me. 'Hey baby shark' he winked and smirked.
