- Chapter 8 -

We'll meet again someday

1 week later

The soft summer breeze blew the last sakura petals to the side, signalling the beginning of the summer. A few families were already in the beach and the small kids were running here and there, leaving small squeals of excitement. The schools had just closed and most of the teenagers were waiting for the train to hang out in Tokyo.

The sound of a suitcase rolling on the heating from the sun street was heard in the quiet neighboor and the engine of a car was turned on. Misaki lifted a heavy box and dropped it in the car, leaving a huff of exhaustion in the end. She has been packing her things since yestarday non-stop and now she had to trasfern them all in her grandad's car. He was going to drop her in the airport, with a one-way ticket to Australia.

"Misaki, remember! Do not talk to strangers, always stay together with your friends and get early to bed! If I learn something like causing trouble, I will-"

"Oba-san" the raven girl cut off her grandma's speech, looking at her with a small smile, "I'll be fine, I swear. I will be calling you everyday and besides, Omikawa High School is an academy with dorms; I'm going to stay in there the whole day"

The older woman teared up and hugged tightly the only family she had left except from her husband, making Misaki a bit depressed for leaving all of these people back to Japan. But she knew she had to do it. . . Her parents would want this. . .

It was one hour after Misaki told Makoto about her depart from Japan to Australia. The girl decided to visit her family's grave and just talk to them, even if they were dead and long-gone from this world; it was just making her feel better, giving her a cozy feeling she had a long time to feel since their tragic deaths. The raven head walked silently between the tombs, searching for three graves with her family's name on. When she spotted them, she took slow steps towards them, finally kneeling down in front of them.

The three tombstones were gray and gloomy, some old and long-dead flowers still on top of them. Misaki threw away those flowers and placed new ones on them, smiling softly. "There. I brought you fresh and clean flowers from Oba-san's garden, I hope you like them. They're lilies, our favorite flower, ya know. . ."

A soft breeze blew and made Misaki's dress to wave on air. The girl fixed it and sat in front of the graves, her finger tracing down the cold and liveless tombstone. Her gaze was saddening from second to second and she finally lowered down her head, tears forming in her eyes. "I'm. . . such an idiot. Mom. . . Dad. . Aoi. . . I'm leaving them. I'm leaving them all back to complete my desire. But I don't. . . I don't deserve this scholarship. I'm useless. . . I can't do anything right! Nothing! I just made my first friends and the idea of losing them now is competely unbearable. . . What do you think?"

Her gaze travelled on the graves where the only movement which could be seen was the flowers which were moving in sync with the air. Misaki bit her lip and stood up, determination appearing in her eyes. "I will. . . I will try and make you proud. You may be dead but I'm still alive and I will make anything. . . Any neccesary sarcrifice to meet all of them again in the future. I swear"

With that, the girl turned around and walked away, imagining her family's warm smiles that would be forming on their faces if they'd see that.

The last luggage was dropped in the car and her grandad closed the door, entering himself the car. "Are you coming, Misaki?"

The girl looked at him with her soft grey eyes and shook her head, pointing behind her. "I will be right back, Oji-san". Misaki ran off and tried to recall where the house of the brunette was, where Makoto's house was laying at. Twisting her body around 360 degrees, she huffed and pressed her temples, finally finding the answer.

She ran up to a normal Japanese house with a small well-made garden. Two small kids were playing in the garden with a cat and Misaki wondered if she had made a mistake. She approached the two children and the two of them gave her a weird look, "Who are you?"

"Erm. . . Konichiwa. I'm Misaki Namikaze and I live-"

"Ah, she is the girl Makoto-nii was talking about all the time!"

"She must be his girlfriend!!! Kyaaa~~ So beautiful!"

"Actually, I'm not--"

"Makoto-nii, Misaki-chan came to visit you!!!"

Misaki sighed and stopped trying to explain how the situation had; they were small kids after all. After a minute, the brunette made his appearance in the garden and walked up to Misaki. Sadness was reflecting in his green orbs; yet he was smiling to make her feel better. He stopped walking only when he was inches away from her.

"Misaki. . . Today is the da--"

"Makoto. . . Please listen" Misaki cut him off rudely, the way she did it making her heart hurt from the guilt. "Today I'm leaving for Australia. More specifically. . . in five muntes? I don't want to leave, to go away but it is neccesary for me to provide my studies and. . . well. . ."

Makoto chuckled softly and the girl looked at him with a questioning look. "Misaki. . . I understand. It is okay with me but the fact that our paths are parting. . . it is quite depressing, indeed"

"Don't worry" Misaki retorted, smiling brightly at him for one last time. "Because we'll meet again someday. And that's a promise"

3 years later

The small town's streets were buzzing for people, all of them wearing yukatas and having time in the Summer Festival they had every single year. It was just like exactly 3 years ago, the same people but older roaming around the streets. A certain black haired woman -still young- got off a car and pulled her luggage behind her, her grey eyes wandering around the people and not paying attention where she was walking.

That made her fall on someone and almost fall on the ground but a strong arm gripped her on air and prevented her from colliding with the ground. "Th-Thank you" she said to the male as she looked up to look at her savior.

But it wasn't too long before the two persons looked at each other surprised, exchanging confused looks.

"Misaki?!"

"Makoto?!"
