- Chapter 6 -

Taming the captain's heart

Currently, it was just the two of them. Misaki and Makoto had decided to take a walk together since the rest of their company was lost in the huge crowd around the festival. If someone would see the two of them from far away, they would swear that those two were a couple and a very matching one.

The ravenette had stayed quiet during their small walk, stealing some glances from the nearby stalls and admiringbsome homemade chocolates and other items. The thing she didn't know was the intense staring of the brunette on her and the small nlush which was spread across his face when he was looking at her. They finally decided to sit on a random bench and just watch the lovie-dovie couples passing by, some of them giggling and hugging all the time, making them feel like loners.

A gloomy aura appeared around them, making the people around them sweat drop slightly. Makoto was the first one to break the awkward silence, "So, Misaki-san, is there any particular place you want to go at?"

The raven haired girl shook her head, still watching as the passengers passed by. She was starting to regret that she had come with them because there was nothing interesting for her to do- that attracted Makoto's attention to her and decided instantly to help her have a good time.

The brunette stood up and held out his hand to Misaki who took it hesitantly. After they stood up, he freed her hand (something that our heroine didn't want to happen) and pointed at a stall which was full of games, "Misaki-san, do you want to go there? It seems like fun!". Misaki looked at the stall and then at him, nodding slowly but with a small hesitation of what was going to happen.

Makoto chuckled softly at her and lead her to the stall where he gave some coins to the man who was behind it. The man smiled warmly at them and handed them 3 darts to each one. "You have to pop the baloons which are hanging right across of you. If both of you pop at least 3 of them, you will get whichever prize you want", he explained.

Makoto, nodding, tried out first. He popped two of the ballons and gave Misaki a toothy smile, signalling that it was her turn to play. "Ano. . ." the girl mumbled before targeting a red ballon and throwing the dart at it, failing miserably. The same happened with the second dart. When she threw her last one, it stabbed the wall right besides the balloon, giving to the girl a defeated sigh. But fortunately, the dart had scratched the ballon to the side, causing it to pop.

A small smile crepped on Misaki's face and when Makoto noticed that, he chuckled softly. The hard part had arrived- they had to pick their prize which was actually difficult because all of the stuffed animals were holding a heart or a banner which was saying "I love you" or "You're mine forever". Both of them were ashamed to take one of those things but Makoto finally picked a white stuffed fluffy puppy which was holding the "You're mine forever" sign. He was blushing when he gave it to Misaki and the raven girl took the stuffed animal with shaking hands from a happy feeling which was punching her stomach. "A-Ano . . . Thanks, Makoto-kun"

"No problem" the male replied quietly, his cheeks still burning a little. They carried on walking awkwardly, not exchanging a word since the puppy incident. Misaki was flustered a bit and her grip was tightening around the puppy from time to time.

It was indeed an adorable sight.

. . .

"Aaah, I'm so tired!'' Makot exclaimed, sitting on a bench and trying to relax his burning from the exhaustion legs. Misaki agreed to that part; they had been walking for hours! And still no sign from the other Iwatobi swim club members.

The afternoon was getting closer and the night had began darkening, the moon being visible through the last clouds that had remained on it since the previous days' storm. The Sakura Festival had been finishing the past few minutes because some workers had begun packing their things and some of them had already left. But that didn't stop the loving couples to spend their time together in stalls that were remaining open. If you'd see Misaki and Makoto from far away, it was obvious that they were a couple but at the moment they were only being friends. But they didn't feel 'just friends' to each other. A new feeling had been growing on them since the beginning of the day and this feeling was something . . . something they had never felt so strongly for someone.

The two of them wandered around for an hour more before they gave up and walked to a small natural cliff which was looking like a balcony. Misaki pressed her elbows on the wooden stall and looked down at the city which had started opening its bright night lights and was looking like the night sky which had started appearing. Makoto was watching her secretly from the corner of his eye and was smiling from time to time.

He suddenly moved closer to her, their shoulders touching. Misaki noticed that but didn't say anything- just blushed. "Misaki-san, isn't the view panoramic from up here?"

"Hai" she replied quickly, a new feeling of happiness and love playing in her stomach. Suddenly, the atmosphere became intense and rays of electricity were appearing inside their bodies, awakening some feelings they didn't know they were developing for each other.

"Misaki-san. . ." Makoto mumbled, turning his face towards Misaki and she did the same. The brunette cupped her cheek gently and slightly leaned down, staring in her dark eyes. A wide blush could be seen on both's faces but none of them stopped. Makoto's lips were one inch away from Misaki's, the girl closing her eyes as an instant and waiting for the moment when they . . .

"Misa-chaan! Mako-chan! We've been looking for you hours now!" a whiny voice complained, making the two teens back off from each other frightened.

Nagisa was the one who interrupted them and Rei together with Haruka appeared behind him. Rei facepalmed at Nagisa's stupidity and Haruka stayed. . . well, Haruka. Misaki and Makoto looked at each other, chuckling softly with big blushes on their faces.

That was one hell of a close call.
