"Percy?" I walked into the room where I was told she was. She was awake, staring blankly at the wall across from her.
"Tula, is she awake?" Ronal asked.
"Yes." I walked towards her and sat on her bed. She did not react. "Percy, can you look at me?"
She blinked and her eyes flicked towards me. Her fingers twitched.
"I'm going to pick you up okay?" I slid my arms underneath her and lifted. I carried her into the shower room, where our king had set up a bathing tub.
"I think the water is a suitable temperature." Garth said. "Do you want me to find our queen or one of her teammates?"
"I can handle this. Go check on Kaldur."
As Garth left, I sighed and laid Percy in the warm water. She had no reaction to me taking off her clothes. I did my best to keep her head and gills above the water. Humming softly, I cleaned her up the best I could. By the time I was done, the water was tinted a heavy pink. I got up and turned on a shower, catching the water in a bucket and using it to wash Percy's hair.
Once I finished that, I pulled her out of the tub, dried her off, and dressed her in loose fitting clothes. I lifted her and carried her into the living room.
Kaldur sat on the couch, leaned into Garth's side. He flinched at the sound of my footsteps and Garth pulled him closer.
"Percy?"
She shifted and looked up at me. I smiled when I saw the recognition in her eyes.
"Do you want to sit with Kaldur?" I moved so she could see him.
Her eyes widened and she struggled against me, almost causing me to drop her. I tightened my grip and rushed her to her bedroom. I laid her on her bed and climbed on next to her.
"Sh, it's okay. You are safe now." I hushed, "Now come on and cuddle. You need to catch up on affection."
I wrapped an arm around her and she quickly melted into the embrace. She nuzzled her face into the crook of my neck. Her breathing was choppy, and she started crying.
"There you go, Percy. You're safe." I whispered. "Everything is going to be okay."
"Tula, Garth wants you."
I groaned. I just got her to relax."You'll have to lay here with her."
"Okay, but he's worried so you might want to hurry." Ronal sat down and helped me move Percy so she was cuddled against him.
Hurrying back to the living room, I saw why Garth was worried. Tears streamed down Kaldur's face and his arms were wrapped tight around his stomach. Garth strained to try to pull them away.
I sat behind Kaldur and pulled him back as Garth continued to pull on his arms.
Kaldur leaned back against me, relaxing his death grip on his stomach.
"What is wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." He mumbled. "It has just been so long since I have seen you, my friends."
"You are not as good of a liar as Percy. Speaking of her, why did she-" Before Garth could finish his sentence, Kaldur pulled him down and hugged him.
"Kaldur, what is wrong?" I asked, looking at the ceiling as my fingers trailed along his gills.
I didn't have time to blink as his hands roughly gripped my wrists, tight to the point where it hurt.
"Please don't..." Kaldur said, voice filled with pain. "Do not touch them."
I frowned and looked at his gills. My hands flew to my mouth.
"Garth, do you- do you see this?" Voice wavering, I ran a hand through Kaldur's hair.
"See what?" Garth lifted his head and his eyes locked onto Kaldur's gills. He cursed and sat up. "What did they do to you?!"
Kaldur flinched. He pressed himself closer to me. I glared at Garth and wrapped both of my arms around Kaldur. His body shook and even without looking at his face, I knew tears were streaming down it.
Garth's shoulders fell and he leaned over and kissed Kaldur's forehead. "I am sorry, my friend. I did not mean to startle you."
I laughed as Kaldur wrapped his arms around Garth and pulled him close, burying his face in the crook of his neck.
"Okay, I am going to lay back. I believe we are hurting Tula." Garth leaned back. I took a deep breath, finally able to breath without the crushing weight of the boys on me. I wish we were underwater, but with Kaldur's gills injured I doubt that is possible at the moment.
"I will be right back." I walked to Percy's room. I peeked inside and saw her curled up. Ronal sat at the foot of the bed. He looked up at me.
"After you left she panicked until I put her down."
I nodded and walked over. I picked her up. "Ronal, it may be best for you to sit with her brother."
We walked out to the living room. I sat as far away from Kaldur as I could, not wishing for Percy to panic again.
Despite visibly trying to keep distance, Kaldur moved over to me.
"Percy?"
Percy tensed and began shaking. A pained expression crossed Kaldur's face, a few tears falling. He leaned over and kissed the side of her head. "I love you."
Percy's grip on my tightened.
"Kaldur, why is she acting like this?" Ronal asked.
Kaldur stood up. "I do not wish to speak of it."
He walked away, leaving us staring at a trembling Percy.
"What happened to them?" Garth mumbled.
It should not be Dec 30. It's over 50 degrees outside.
50 degrees in the winter
I guarentee as soon as I go back to school it's going to drop to like 0 or below that
