"Kaldur, can you come onto the beach please?" I asked, holding my phone against my ear with my shoulder.
"Of course, I will be outside in a minute."
I hung up and slipped the phone into my pocket. Chiron took it away from me while I was under watch and then 'forgot' to give it back before I left. On a positive note, Will decided to give it back.
So...how are you going to explain the leg thing to Kaldur?
"Tell him I was sedated and it has not worn off yet."
I could see the door open and Kaldur walked out. He walked down to the edge of the water and waved.
Blackjack flew down and landed, beating his wings a few times. You might want to help Boss down.
Kaldur raised an eyebrow and offered me his hand. I took it and slid off of Blackjack, leaving Kaldur to catch me as I fell towards him.
"Are you okay?" He asked, holding me. "Where have you been?"
"I am fine. When I was talking with Will...I had a flashback so he sedated me for a little bit. Also, you could have asked me this on the phone."
"Doing anything which increases the danger you are in is not something I should do." He pulled a bag out of his pocket and pulled a donut out. "Thank you Blackjack."
How come your brother gives me donuts?
"I just bought you a dozen." I rolled my eyes before pulling water from the ocean. I moved so I was on Kaldur's back.
Blackjack nuzzled my head. And I appreciate that Boss. Though you could have gotten something other than just glazed. I'd appreciate some variety.
I smiled. "You're the best."
Blackjack nuzzled Kaldur's head, causing him to laugh. Take care of her. I don't want her crying because of you again. And if you do, you're going yo have to answer to me.
"I swear, you are both overprotective. Bye Blackjack."
Blackjack took off, quickly disappearing from sight.
Kaldur started back to the mountain and I rested my head on his shoulder.
"This is like when we were young." He chuckled.
"You say that as if a lot has changed since then."
"You used to trust me."
I had nothing to say to that. I mean, he did betray my trust with what he did, but...even before that, I had trouble trusting him. After Luke, I had trouble trusting anyone, even if I knew they would never seek to harm me.
Kaldur carried me through the Cave and into the training room, where the rest of the Team was in the midst of training.
"Hey Percy!" Wally rushed over.
"Wally, quiet. She is tired. I am trying to give you an excuse."
"And she can't walk on her on because...?" Connor raised an eyebrow.
"It is habit." Kaldur responded. "It is something that happens a lot undersea. In the event of someone becoming tired, it is customary for someone to carry them. Currents are dangerous for someone unable to fight them."
"We're not underwater though." Robin said.
I groaned and buried my face in Kaldur's shoulder. "I am tired. Make sure I do not fall."
"Of course."
Unfortunately, the Zeta Tubes activated and Chiron and Wonder Woman stepped out.
"I am here to do a follow up with Aquagirl." Chiron walked over, patting his satchel.
"I am fine." I mumbled. "The wound is-"
"Not going to heal until you come to terms with some internal conflict you have."
"It would be much easier to do if I had any notion of what the conflict could be."
"Aquagirl, at least let him treat the wound and change the bandages." Black Canary said.
"I appreciate the concern, but I am capable of tending to my own wounds. I served in the Atlantean military since I was twelve and then at fourteen I transferred to the Conservatory of Sorcery. After about two year I dropped out and began working for the crown. All of that has taught me how to handle myself."
Kaldur sighed. "I am going to take her to her room. If I am not back in ten minutes, assume she has refused to let me go."
He carried me to my room and I dropped onto my bed.
I sat up and patted the spot next to me. Kaldur did not argue and simply sat down.
"Can I just say, wheelchair bumpercars."
"No." Kaldur stared at me.
I chuckled and wrapped my arms around him. He returned the hug and pressed a kiss to the top of my head.
I sighed. "I am sorry."
"For what?"
"I should not have told you to talk to Black Canary when I refuse to do so myself."
"Percy, I should be the one to apologize. I should not have snapped at you. What you have went through us much worse than my experiences. I am the one at fault."
I pulled away, pulled off my turtleneck, and stared at Kaldur, before taking his hand and guiding it to my neck. His fingers traced the edges of my gills and a soft smile lit up his face.
"Do you always wear this under your turtleneck?" He gestured to my top.
"Why would I not?"
He rolled his eyes before sighing. "I love you."
"And I love you too."
We sat in silence for a little bit. I wrung my hands together, before swallowing. I glanced at Kaldur.
"I, uh, talked to Will and he told me...he wants me to- he wants me to tell you. I mean, he wants me to-"
He gently took my hands. "I told you I am more than willing to listen. And you remember the rest of what I said correct?"
A smile tugged at my lips and I gave a small nod. "Yeah...I remember."
"Good. Now what are you supposed to talk to me about?"
"One thing first. You have to promise not to become more overprotective."
"I do not like the sound of this."
Okay
I figured, hey I don't have practice today so why not
