Chapter 18

Because I was mean last chapter and didn't tell you what happened next after Infinity was taken away, this chapter is gonna be her POV! Yaaaaaay! ...I think?

Chapter 18

(Infinity's POV)

I didn't want to get up. This bed was far too comfy and warm to ever leave. Ever. Then I shot up. Since when did I have a bed? Unless I'm at Inthelittlecorp, although that's highly unlikely due to the lack of forest air and the relaxed feel I get after being there. This was different, it was comfortable, but I didn't feel safe for some reason.

"Um... hello?" I called out, getting up, and only then noticing that I had a very familiar coat on.

The owner of that coat opened the door a little, smiled at me, then entered. "Glad to see you're awake."

I wasn't sure what to say. "...um, thanks for letting me stay here overnight."

He flashed a smile, but it wasn't a creepy one, more of a respectful one. "No problem. Say..." Ridge came into the room and sat down on the bed next to me. "...have you heard of the prophecy?"

I thought for a second, for once comfortable with his presence. "I... think so... yeah, 'Two will be close but not too' exetera."

He nodded, and looked away. "It's about you and Martyn... did you know that?"

"What?! It can't be! We're just..." I gasped, trailing off as I realised that actually made sense.

"Who are you?" The demigod asked, staring directly into my eyes.

"Infinity Waters. Water Elf." I replied instantaneously, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

He shook his head, frowning. "No. There's something about you that isn't quite normal... I don't know what. According to the prophecy, you aren't your true self yet."

"But this is me!" I almost yelled back at him, gesturing to myself.

"For now..." He muttered under his breath, then continued louder. "D'you want to go see the others before the world ends?"

"The world's ending?!" I screamed at him, rocketing to my feet and glaring at him. "You could've told me! But yes, I would like to go see them." I finished calmly, and he linked arms with me, teleporting us to the others.

They were all in a huddle, clearly scared, but they were still talking, making the most of their last moments. I saw Toby, and hung my head, remembering the Jaffa Factory incident with Ridge. But to my surprise, he glanced my way, looked shocked for a second then grinned happily, beckoning me to come to him. I gladly did so, running over and hugging him tightly, while he chuckled lightly.

"Good to see you here, before, you know..." He said when I released him. "Shall I go find Martyn so you two can talk?"

"But..." I began, wanting to refuse, but Toby just quickly bounded off before I could say no, coming back a few moments later with the blond himself.

"Hi... Infinity..." Martyn mumbled awkwardly while playing with his fingers.

"Hey Martyn!" I exclaimed, spreading my arms.

He smiled, hugging me, then to my surprise he lifted me off the ground and twirled me around in the air, while I giggled happily. After a short while he put me down, and I was only just aware of the roaring noise that was getting louder. I turned to face where the sound was coming from, and my eyes widened in fear, before I buried my face in Martyn's chest and beginning to cry. The hungry node was massive, sucking in anything that got in it's way, ripping trees from the ground, making a mess of the land.

"Shh, it's okay. We'll be fine..." He attempted to reassure me, stroking my hair while holding me close.

"Hey, how come you're wearing Ridge's coat?" Toby questioned, attempting to take my mind off the impending doom.

I wiped my eyes with a hand, the other still firmly gripping Martyn's arm. "I was cold." I said with a shrug, glancing behind me to watch the demigod chatting to Lewis.

"How can you be cold? Water is technically ice and snow too, so surely the cold shouldn't bother you?" (Hey, I couldn't resist!) He continued, raising an eyebrow.

"I... I don't know. You shouldn't question magic. The magical magic is magical, and will curse you if you question it!" I exclaimed, pulling a half-evil half-spooky face in an attempt to scare him.

Toby just folded his arms, smirking. "Was that supposed to scare me?"

I growled, going to jump forwards but Martyn held me back, so I just wriggled about in his arms, trying to escape to attack the brunette. "I'll get you next time!"

"Sure, sure. I'll believe it when I see it." He rolled his eyes, still smiling.

An idea popped into my head, and I grinned, not bothering to struggle anymore, instead focusing on my magic with one hand on my pendant. I used the Water Teleportation spell to appear next to Toby, who gave a small whimper of surprise that resembled a sad puppy, while Martyn just looked from me to his now empty arms, putting two and two together.

"Do you believe me?" I asked, tugging on his hood until it covered his face and his mess of chestnut hair.

"Yup." He replied, voice muffled, and the blond laughed before coming over and pulling the hood back down so we could see him again.

"Oh Notch, nooo! I preferred it with the hood on, not without!" I exclaimed, covering my face with my hands while Martyn burst into uncontrollable fits of giggles.

"You... you just... got owned... Toby!" He managed to get out between chuckles, while the younger looked on, unamused.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He muttered, making me smile, but it was quickly wiped off when I turned around.

The node was almost upon us, and even if we tried to out-run it, we'd just get caught with the speed that it's going. Even here, I could feel the tug on my being, while my clothes were being pulled towards it. I let out a sigh, but no-one heard except Martyn because of the intensity of the sound of the world being torn apart. He looked my way, and seemed to understand that this would be our last moments, so he took my hand, grabbing Toby's with the other. I understood, reaching for Panda's paw, and he got the message too, sending a wave of friendship across the group until we were all standing in a line, watching our fate approach us. Everything got darker as it got closer, and it for harder to breathe, as it was sucking in everything in it's path. My feet began to get dragged towards it, so I planted then more firmly, digging into the soil, and when I shot a squinted glance across to the others I saw they were having the same problem. Then I realised that Ridge wasn't joining us, but Simon and Lewis shouted something to him, and he joined on the end, holding the dwarf's hand. When it connected, a charge of blue energy that -I guessed from their reactions- only I could see, rushed across their joined arms, heading at a worrying speed towards me. It sped across Panda, ruffling his fur a little, then rolled along my arm. For a few seconds it just floated in the air in front of me, seemingly unaffected by the force of the now massive node, but then it got absorbed inside my chest. I felt power explode from inside of me, starting from my heart, and then spreading through my whole body, making it all tingle strangely. Time seemed to slow, I could see everything, that herd of cows that were getting drawn inside and hopelessly wiggling their legs in the air, the berries being plucked off a bush one by one and swirling around in the air before the plant itself followed. The deafeningly loud sound had now just faded to an annoying buzz in the background, and when I looked down to my hands, they were glowing blue, and in fact my whole body seemed to have a faint shine.

"I understand now..." I whispered, staring into the middle of the node, and I sensed Martyn look over to me.

"Infinity..." He said slowly as a warning when I began to loosen my grip on both of the guys.

"I remember now..." I continued as the realisation sank in along with the memories, spurring me on to get closer, and I obliged, taking steady steps ahead while letting go of the Elf's hand and Panda's paw.

"What's going on?!" He asked, louder this time, as he tried to pull me back.

"I know now..." The pull of the node wasn't affecting me, letting me continue to approach it at a relaxed pace.

"No!" Martyn yelled to me as I put out my hand to touch the sphere.

"This is my destiny!" I exclaimed, jumping into the air as time went back to normal, and only acknowledging the shouts that followed me into the outer node.

Inside, everything was spinning around, gradually getting closer and closer to the speck of light that was easy to see compared to the darkness. I felt like I knew exactly what to do, and it was almost as if I wasn't controlling myself, almost like I was watching from third person. A tree floated around, and I only just ducked in time to avoid getting hit by it, but by dodging it I lost my control and got carried into the whirlwind of items inside. A rock slammed into the side of my face, making me cry out in pain as it directly hit the bone, then shredded shards of glass from destroyed houses embedded into my skin in several places, drawing blood that instantly got spun around with everything else. I regained my balance, feeling a little dizzy after tumbling around in all directions, and my eyes locked on to my target. When I caught a glimpse of my hands, I was shocked to find them even brighter, and I stopped to look at myself for the first time since entering. My whole body was pretty much a firey spark of blue light, and I could feel the power flowing through my veins. That was how I wasn't being tumbled around so easily, because of this strange power. I nodded to myself, ignoring the warm and sticky substance on my cheek, instead summing the energy and concentrating on zooming towards the middle. The air pressure got greater as I got closer, and it got even harder to breathe, making black spots appear in my vision, but I still kept going. Finally, I was close enough, and could see small white lightning bolts zapping out of it, able to feel the pure power it was sucking in from the world. I reached out both my arms, then clasped my hands around the orb, my breath hitching in my throat as a painful amount of energy transferred to me, but no matter how hard I tried to keep my grip it seemed to be stronger. It rocketed me away, my body bashing onto several solid objects on my speedy exit, so by the time I landed on the soil outside the outer sphere I was barely conscious. Images of possible futures flashed through my mind, ones where the world was no more, all life wiped out of existence. It gave me strength, and I pulled myself to my feet, favoring one leg over the other after noticing an axe that must've been sucked out of a chest embedded in it. I needed to do this, for the world, for life itself, for my friends. But I don't think I could continue much longer... especially in this state.

A new wave of determination swept through me, sending more adrenaline with it, and I darted back inside, resisting the force that wanted to push me back. I was back at the middle, and this time not only grabbed it with my hands, but also pulled it closer to me, holding it to my chest where the pendant was, undisturbed by the unusual air currents. The pendant began to glow as tears flooded from my eyes, partly from the wind rushing into them and partly from the pain of the raw power that had begun to blister my hands and arms. I could feel myself slipping in and out of consciousness, one moment feeling as if I wanted to destroy the world, another hoping to save it. My spirit was binding with the node, but I wasn't sure I could survive, and even if I could I doubted I could stay myself. It was too powerful, it felt like I was being torn apart from the inside, and I let out a weak scream. No matter who I truly was, I wasn't them yet. I wasn't strong. I couldn't handle this. I, along with everyone and everything else, was going to die. I've failed. The prophecy will come true.

"Mou oshimai da..." I whispered, closing my eyes and awaiting the worst.

Then I heard a voice. It was faint, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't imagining things. I'm also pretty sure I recognised it.

"Don't give up yet, my child." The female voice was saying.

"You still have your destiny to fulfill." A male voice added.

"You can do it, we believe in you." I tried to put names to the voices, but couldn't.

"Who are you?" I mumbled, sure that they wouldn't hear me, but unable to speak any louder.

"Your parents, the King and Queen. We're so proud of you, honey." My father said softly in reply, making me gasp in realisation.

"Go on, you can do it. We'll be with you the whole time. Fulfill your destiny." My mother finished, and I felt new strength rush through my aching muscles, bringing me back to reality.

I was still loosely holding the node, and it seemed that my pendant and the light had partially fused together. Both shone with a pale blue colour, and I smiled, taking deep breaths and relaxing my overly fast heartbeat. If I didn't make it, my parents would be waiting. But if I did, I'd have all my friends. My family.

"I'll do it for all of you..." I concentrated on my magic, and water flowed down my arms, making the strange blue power extinguish before encircling the node.

With thoughts alone and a furrowed brow to help, I began to crush the hungry orb, forcing it into my pendant which glowed brighter with more energy. A final shove, and the node was inside. The wavy line on the bamboo gave a blinding flash, and I was vaguely aware of the air returning to normal and the deafening noise leaving before I began to fall, hitting the ground and blacking out.

(Hmmm, nope, not gonna leave it there! It's gonna be an extra long last chapter, so it's kinda bittersweet...)

(Martyn's POV)

The node's outer sphere was almost on us, and I hadn't seen Infinity since she entered, although there seemed to be a faint blue light whizzing around inside. I heard the occasional scream, but I brushed it off as some creature being sucked in, as there was no way she could've survived in there. Toby was crushing my hand in fear, eyes wide, and when I looked down along the line everyone had at least a hint of terror etched in their features. But then the wind dropped, and the light returned, the danger stopping just before it hit us. A bright light flashed from inside, and the node was gone, as was most of the land. Luckily, the bedrock seemed mostly unharmed apart from the odd hole here or there. But then the brunette tugged my arm, pointing to the sky, and I followed where he was looking. There was Infinity, being held in the air by magic and glowing a light blue, and before I could react she began to plummet down to earth, hitting the ground with a horrible crunch. Toby let out a tiny whimper, and I just stated in disbelief as blood began to pool around her. I couldn't do anything, but thankfully, Ridgedog did. He gave me a shove from behind, making me take a few steps forwards, before I glanced back at him and we both nodded. I jumped down the jagged cliff, ignoring the pain that shot up my legs, running after the demigod who was flying. He landed next to her, staring at her mangled form with tears in his eyes, and I slowed to a stop just behind him, trying to keep my emotions hidden. For some reason, I had a tiny bit of hope that she could still be alive, and so took off my headband to hear better. I blocked out all other sounds, focusing on her alone. To my surprise and relief, there was actually a heartbeat, and she was breathing ever so faintly.

"She's alive...?" I spoke up, more of a question, and Ridge's eyes widened as he stared into space.

He then shook his head, crouching down and getting out a dagger, putting it near her neck with a sigh. I got a little scared, wondering what he was planning to do, but ready to react if he tried to do what part of me thought he was going to. Ridge moved the neckline of her shirt down a little, revealing some blue string, and he carefully picked that up between his fingers, beginning to saw away at it, and soon it broke, making him able to take the pendant off her and toss it to one side. She relaxed when it was removed, a small smile lighting up her battered features.

"Can you lend some magic to heal her?" He asked without looking back at me, rolling Infinity onto her back as I came closer, carefully placing my hands over her chest and letting healing magic spread down my arms and outline her in green.

"Can't of been good in there." I said, trying to break the tense silence as I nodded to the stone axe lodged in her leg which Ridge swiftly removed, making her grimace.

"She's brave to risk her life like that, even if it was her destiny." He replied, checking for any other bad wounds before standing back up and stretching.

I stopped healing her, knowing that she was in the safe zone now. "Should we wake her?"

"Wake who?" Came the reply, and I glanced down to see her smirking a little with her eyes still closed.

I pulled her into a hug, ignoring the blood that was sticking to her back and just taking comfort in the relaxed moment. She weakly squeezed in return, but when I tried to pull away she stayed firmly in place, making me chuckle softly. I leant slightly to one side, stretching out one arm to pick up my headband which I pocketed as I couldn't put it back on with only one hand. Then I tipped the other way, grabbing Infinity's pendant which was still glowing brightly, then putting that in the other pocket. Summoning some magic, I grew plants towards me, and they wrapped around my waist, ankles and chest to hold me in place before lifting me into the air and carrying me over to where the others were hugging each other and joking with relief. Toby immediately rushed to me, but most others froze, staring at the plants in shock. Lewis and Simon explained to them that I was the Earth Elf, and Infinity was the Water Elf, so there was a strong bond between us.

"How is she?" The brunette asked as Ridge flew to the group and began to casually talk with them.

"Why don't you ask her yourself?" She retorted, crossing her arms while I held her close in mine.

"Well, from that, I can guess she's okay. But what happened in there?" He continued, poking her arm to tell her not to make another witty comment.

She explained the whole thing, then her eyes widened. "Where's my pendant?"

I put her back on the ground, much to her displeasure, then chucked her necklace back, and she caught it with a frown after seeing that it was broken. But then she shrugged, and water fixed the two ends together, going solid and becoming string again so she could slip it over her head. Infinity glanced to me, and I could've sworn her eyes flashed gold for a second before returning to their normal colour, one that could be described as stormy seas.

"Do you know who I am?" She asked, a mysterious air about her.

"Duh, I've known you all my life." I replied jokingly, although I half-knew the real answer she was looking for, but I couldn't quite think who she was.

She raised an eyebrow, a shining gold spreading from both ends and meeting in the middle on a few strands of hair as she stood up, the wind making both colours of hair blow to one side. "You know. But you can't quite remember yet, it's like a memory from when you were a baby- you can just get hazy images and vague sounds. The same goes for all of you, you don't realise it yet." As she turned around to look at each member of the group surrounding us, each gaze seemed to have a different meaning, like a silent message, her eyes kept fading from normal to gold and back, but only Ridge had a knowing twinkle in his eyes when they exchanged a look.

He got down on one knee, dipping his head while she rolled her eyes at the strange gesture. The demigod was the highest ranking one in the whole of Tekkitopia, to have him bow before you was a great honor only for Gods or...

"Infinity... you're becoming your true form..." I whispered, bowing down as well, and Toby followed my lead although he didn't seem sure what I was on about.

She giggled, a warm sound that reminded me of summer. "Please don't bow to me! C'mon, get up!" She exclaimed, tugging us to our feet despite mine and Ridge's protests while the others tried to work out what was going on.

"Can someone explain what's going on?" Simon said, his frown giving away his intense level of concentration.

"Hm, let me put it this way..." Infinity began, her eyes staying gold as her pendant began to shine again.

"Two shall be close but not too, after many a year much they've been through.

But after a tragedy they will be separate, one becoming desperate.

Time shall pass and the one has moved on, the other has yet to reveal their true form.

The one will protect the other, though neither knew it was not another.

Gradually they realise, and their love is shown when the other dies.

Unfortunately, it is not meant to be, as a curse is placed on their family.

When they share their first kiss, a node with open and the world will cease to exist." As she spoke, her voice like a gentle stream, blue strands of magic came from her pendant and began to circle around her, occasionally touching her and exploding in a little gold spark.

"The prophecy. Yeah, we all know that." Hannah said, eyeing the transforming girl in front of her with caution.

"Does anyone know the last part? No? I'm not surprised." More of her hair became a shimmering gold, almost like sunlight.

"How come?" Sips asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Because it hasn't been spoken yet." Infinity answered simply, and with that final statement, more magic flowed out of her pendant like water, rushing around her and lifting her into the sky as we watched in awe.

"What's going on?!" Toby whispered to me, but I just put a finger to my lips, still staring at the spectacle, placing the other arm over his shoulders.

In a flash, she'd completely changed, and she seemed to be looking at herself as she floated back down. Her torn clothes had changed into a tight gold dress that reached her ankles, and on her feet were sandals of a matching colour. In her hair was a clip that looked like a sun, and if you looked closely you could see two darker wavy lines in the middle- like the ones that were on her pendant that was no longer around her neck; in fact, there was now a silver chain necklace with a crescent moon hanging from it in its place. A thin and silky silver cape was draped over her shoulders, billowing in the breeze, with a detailed representation of stars in the night sky as a pattern on the fabric. She let out a philosophical sigh before cracking her fingers, running one hand over the hairclip and the other across the necklace, both starting to glow a little.

"Well, may as well clean up." Infinity muttered, before turning around with a swish of her cape and facing the wreckage of the landscape.

She put her hands together in front of her, palms facing outwards, and as we all watched a silver and gold beam of light shot out, recreating everything it touched back as it was. When she had done, the world looked untouched, as if nothing terrible had ever happened, and she spun back to see us.

"Who are you...?" Nilesy breathed, his accent thicker, betraying his confusion.

She flashed a smile. "Infinity. Goddess of the Universe."

And it's over! But don't worry, there's gonna be an epilogue after this, so stay tuned folks- wait, whaaa? ·-· (Edit: There is no longer an epilogue. It was terrible, and made the book feel like it was dragging on, so I deleted it. Basically; Martyn meets Kaeyiand they fall in lurrrve, Infinity leaves, but still visits)

Nope, there is not gonna be a sequel. I'm sowwy! But sequels kill me with extra pressure, and some stories are best left standing on their own. Did you guess that she was the Goddess that made the prophecy? I did! *cough, cough, as of chapter 17 aka last chapter cough, cough* But oh, how I freakin' love plot twists! They're so fudgin' fan-flippin'-tastic! You probably don't agree... but oh well... ···forever alone··· ... no joking XD how can you not like plot twists? *points gun at your head.* You have to agree that plot twists are da best. >:)

Uhm... yeah... that was slightly off track. But... until next time-

Don't forget to stay awesome!

~Xenolis

Fact: Shaddup, I can do dis ending when I want! Who cares if I haven't done it in this book? *Tugs at collar nervously*

Byeeeeeeee! ^-^ x
