Chapter 11
Chapter 11 (Yay! Everyone loves the number 11, cuz it's our fave Yogscast-related band! And 11 is also awesome at being a number. I mean seriously, look at it! IT'S A DOUBLE 1. TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE! Hahahahaha! Bad not-even-jokes are hilarious! Uh, and yes, it is 11:00 at night, so I have a sleep deprived brain again. Wait... it's... wow. Chapter 11 at 11pm on the... no, it's not the 11th... shoot. Oh snap! I should totally deploy smooth jazz! Not that I have any... but I shall use my mind and remember Martyn's 'Smooth Jazz Screw The Nether' livestream highlight, which was... just wow.)
(Still Martyn's POV)
I led Toby up the kind-of dangerous staircase, and by kind of I mean it was crumbling and some parts had completely gone. At one point, he stumbled, his foot going through a gap, but I managed to steady him and we continued more cautiously upwards. Then I recognised where we were, and stopped on this floor.
"It doesn't look like it's been touched by anyone... just time." I commented, stepping forwards.
The splintering of wooden planks reached my ears, and pain spiked up in my ankle before I looked down to see my foot embedded in the floor. I moved my foot a little, regretting only wearing sandals as the sharp shards of wood stabbed at my bare skin, but instantly stopping when I heard the creak you might hear when a tree branch is bending and about to break. Toby made to move torwards me, but I shook my head hurriedly as the floor groaned under more weight.
"How are gonna get you outta this then?" He asked softly, and in reply I slowly and carefully twisted around, and passed him Infinity, giving me more dexterity.
I carefully leaned backwards a little, attempting to pull out my foot, and in the process the floor around my other foot gave way, increasing the problem. There was a constant cracking sound, and I felt the broken floor begin to move beneath me. The whole thing went silent, and we both breathed a sigh of relief.
"That was lucky." I said, continuing to move my ankle around and try to get free.
Not a good idea. The wooden planks splintered around me, and I fell through, my flesh being scraped pretty badly as I passed the floor. Trouble is, there's no level below us, just the ground floor, and I was heading straight towards it.
"Martyn!" Toby screamed, and I turned around in the air to see his crying face.
I was about to reply, but the floor that I fell through came apart, and being a heavier object, it came faster towards me. The chunk of floorboards slammed into me, knocking my breath away, and we both plummeted the remaining distance to the ground. I hit the solid quartz floor, only having enough time to register the horrendous pain that rocketed through me before I blacked out.
(Toby's POV)
"Martyn?!" I called out, but there was no reply.
Only the eerie silence, a bad feeling, and the dust were here to keep me company. I decided to take a risk, and ran back down however many flights of stairs, back to the ground with Infinity in my arms. The dust hadn't settled yet, and there were still a few pieces of rubble that came apart from the chunk and fell to the floor.
"Martyn?" I whispered hopefully, putting the girl to one side and beginning to pull away debris, intending to dig my friend out.
"Toby? Is that you?!" The shout of a familiar voice reached my ears, and I looked to the doorway.
"Strippin'!" I exclaimed in shock.
He came over, a crowbar in his hand. "Hey... why're you crying?"
"Martyn, he's trapped under here! He fell through the floor up there." I nodded above us, then began to pull away more.
"Oh Notch... you do realise that there's no way he could've survived falling that far, right?" He explained softly, putting a hand on my shoulder.
I closed my eyes, concentrating on Martyn's magical aura that I've gotten used to, and smiled, opening them again. "Believe me, he's alive." A thought struck me as he began to easily lift off massive areas. "Hey, how come you're here?
He shrugged, flinging another section all the way across the massive room. "Me an' Benji wanted to explore new areas where we could place a new railway system. He went that way, and I came this way. Lucky I did, else you would've had a problem on your hands, kid."
I nodded, and made a triumphant shout as I spotted some blue, making both of us, although mostly Strippin', dig faster to get him uncovered. He picked up Martyn, and I noticed with a stifled gasp that his headband had come off, so his ears were in plain view. Strippin' didn't notice, instead placing the blond on the floor and looking around the castle. I quickly found his headband, and tied it back around his head.
"So where is this place, then?"
"The Elf Kingdom."
"Really? Oh my Notch." He stared around the place even more, in awe of the magnificent decor and the mahogany doors. (Wow. More, awe, decor, doors. Four rhymes that were totally unintentional X3) "How come you're here?"
"Uh..." How could I explain this? "It's kinda a secret, and I dunno if Martyn wants me to tell anyone..."
"Fair enough. Oh, yeah, we should probably help Martyn..."
At that, we fell silent, and I started to shake the blond in hopes of waking him. He groaned, before slowly opening his eyes, much to my relief. I knew he was still alive from the fall- I didn't know how much longer he would survive. He mumbled something incomprehensible, before coughing, and spitting blood onto the floor and moaning again.
This time, he managed to speak, although his hoarse voice shook. "A-are you okay, Toby?"
I rolled my eyes. "That's just like you. Wondering if I'm fine when your the one who just fell from all the way up there."
He looked up, paled even more if that was even possible, but then smiled. "That would explain why I feel like crap."
"Are you overall good though? I mean, as good as you can feel after falling..." Strippin' spoke up, chuckling lightly.
Martyn stared at the well-built man in shock and confusion. "Since when have you been... how come you're... what?"
"I came here to check out this area for putting down a railway. Found this place, and heard a noise. Turned out you'd fallen from up there, and Toby here was trying to dig you out. I helped him, and here we are." He said bluntly.
"Aw, that's sweet of you Toby." The blond said, stiffly moving and patting my head as if I was a dog.
"For Notches sake Martyn!" I exclaimed loudly, finishing with a laugh while helping him sit up, although he had to lean against me for support.
"So why are you guys here?" Strippin' repeated his earlier question. "Toby wouldn't tell me because he wasn't sure if you wanted me to know."
We exchanged glances. Then Martyn shrugged, wincing immediately afterwards, and shuffled into a more comfortable position.
"Uh... well, from the beginning... I'm an elf-"
"What?! Pah, no way. There's only two left, the water weilder and the earth controller." He scoffed with a smirk. "Tell me the real story."
"Just show him. Then he has to believe you." I suggested, and he nodded, untying his headband and shaking his surprisingly long hair until it settled and his elf ears poked out.
"No way dude! So that's why you always wear that thing!"
Martyn nodded, before tying it back up and continuing. "And we came here because we need to revive Infinity, who is the water elf, and was killed by Ridgedog."
"Um. What... the water elf?!"
"Yep." I said simply, crawling over to where I left Infinity and carrying her back to the others.
Strippin' smirked cheekily. "When she's respawned you two should totally restart elf kind, if you know what I mean." (WHAT THE HECK STRIPPIN'!!!)
I couldn't help but notice Martyn blush when his friend said that. "That's really weird, Strippy. Don't ever say that again..."
"I mean, you kinda have to, if you want your species to survive... and plus, don't plants need water to survive? So in theory, you kind of need her, and so you must have kids." Strippin' continued. (WHY AM I MAKING STRIPS SAY THIS. What the heck, again...)
"Please stop..." He pleaded, closing his eyes as the redness got more obvious, stark in comparison to his pale blue skin.
"...and even after being here for however long, it's really obvious that you like her." He concluded with a triumphant grin as Martyn turned away, hiding his face.
"I'm sorry, friend, but I have to agree. It's pretty obvious. And now that I think about it... when you two were hugging, she seemed kinda embarrassed, but also sad when you parted. Ooh, Martyni might be in with a chance!" I teased, pulling Martyn back when he tried to shuffle away. (D'awww! That's so adorable! And we all know that Infinity loves dah fabulous Martyni back. So there's only one thing in order... MARTYN AND INFINITY, SITTING IN A TREE! Though I still totally ship Inthelittledream :3)
"Shut up guys..." The blond mumbled, far beyond embarrassed by this point.
"Hey, there's nothing to be ashamed of. She's cute." Strippin' said, still smirking.
"Urgh..." Martyn turned back to face us, still bright red, but it didn't seem like he cared anymore. "Fine. I like her..." He mumbled, looking at the ground.
The brunette leaned closer. "What was that?"
"Oh, shut up..." He attempted to stand up, but fell back down with a cry of pain. "Damn, gravity hates me."
"How come you look less-dead than before?"
"Elven magic, duh. Healing myself. Although after that fall, it takes quite a lot of magic to heal all the injuries." He clicked his fingers, and green sparks flew off them, then he rolled his shoulders and this time didn't wince. "Okay, I think I'm good enough to walk now."
I helped him to his feet, and Strippin' stood the other side of him just in case he fell. "I take it we're going back up there?" I asked as we started towards the staircase.
"'Course. We don't know what's down that tunnel now it's obvious, so it's better to be prepared." He replied as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
