Part 5

After leaving the dining room, Lucien strode forward down the corridor. There was a loud slam of a door behind him.

"Wait," the voice of Vlad made a crazy teammate to stop.

"We should not act recklessly."

"He's right," tai Tu Fang leaned against the doorframe,  pausing between the dining room and the corridor. The Asian man's arms were crossed over his chest as he stared coldly at Lucien. I think you still noticed everywhere the elders, and strive to catch us.

"Do you think the dining room is a safe area? How long will you hide under tables and crawl on the floor?"

"No one said to keep hiding," Vlad took two steps forward, finding himself next to Lucien. "We just need to think of tactics before we act."

A Frenchman with a suspicious glance at the Russian. Vlad's face was calm and confident. Perhaps, if such he was trying to say tai Fung Tu, Lucien would have just ignored him and began to act as wanted from the beginning.

"Are you a strategist?"   the Frenchman shook his head, grinning, and then turned around. "Well, let's start with the base: analysis of the situation. What we have?"

"The elders are purposefully hunting us," Tai Tu Fang put his hands down and slowly walked towards your companions. "It should be noted, they are well motivated. It seems that they were promised something for each caught first year."

"They're dangerous!"  immediately continued the thought Lucien.  "Those who could study at this school at least a year, not just people. They're geniuses."

"I'd say predators," Vlad shrugged. In this school, the laws of survival. I think you already know about the ranking. Rating encourages their instincts to survive. After a year of training under such a system, you stop noticing when your head turns on a point that is configured only to win.

Lucien and Feng looked at the Russian in surprise. It seems that this comparison seemed appropriate to them, but at the same time unusual.

"Okay, next."

"We have two quotations — Feng took from his pocket a blue envelope. — "In the theater of life the main thing — buffet".

"We used this quote to find each other." Vlad thoughtfully looked into the corridor, just in case, checking if there's someone outside. "Although here we had two variations to indicate the place, we still chose a buffet, not a theater hall. Can I ask what you were guided by when you chose where to go?"

Lucien and tai Tu Fang looked up at Vlad, one voice asked: "Soon the lunch break".

"It,"  Vlad confidently nodded, as if confirming what I thought about the same.  "If one of us caught on to the abstract phrase "theater of life", then we would not be able to meet, but do not you think that there is still some subtext that reveals the secret of our job?"

"Time limits?"  the Chinese slowly lowered the envelope.  "We were told that we have little time, but no one said how little."

Vlad turned his head toward the door leading to the dining room. There was a clock on the white wall just above the door. The hands stood in one place and did not move at all. All the hands on the clock pointed to two o'clock in the afternoon. A time when according to the official schedule of the school, was lunch.

On the faces of Lucian and Fang appeared ironic, slightly uneasy smile.

"We have two hours."

"What else do we know?" Vlad immediately turned his attention to the boys, forcing them to continue to think in the right direction.

"We have the second quote."  the Chinese just opened his mouth to read the quote out loud, but he was immediately interrupted by the Frenchman.

"Ultimus rex Poloniae custodes ad introitum, ad Aerarium, aperiens viam ad victoriam (Latin: "the Last Polish king guards the entrance to the Treasury, opening the way to victory")" Lucien read this phrase in Latin so easily and naturally, as if this long-dead language was his native. Having finished reading, the guy with a satisfied smile looked at his comrades. "We need to find the treasure."

Judging by the face of the Fang could say that every second of this haughty European had irritated him all the more.

"Yeah, well?"  the Chinese spat out angrily.

"I think the Treasury in a figurative sense." mused Vlad, starting to scroll through this phrase in my head. "Well, what do we know about the last Polish king?"

"Stanislav August Poniatowski,"  Fang began confidently,  "The last Polish king, an ardent patriot, a staunch reformer, a patron of science and culture."

Vlad on purpose not became on their own to speak the, that he knows about this the king. Thus, he was trying to see how much was aware of his current teammates, future rivals. The fact that the students of this school knew such exact details from the history of Poland was not surprising. There were two reasons. First: Vlad, like his comrades, was enrolled in the Department of "political science", and in order to study in this Department required a deep knowledge of history, especially the knowledge of the biographies of various rulers. Second, this is the location of the school. APSIS was located in the Carpathian mountains and Carpathian mountains is a mountain system in Eastern Europe in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia and partially of Austria (Handshaker-Berg from Hainburg an der Donau and Niederosterreichische Enzelberger Mistelbach). It would be even surprising if some of the students of this school did not know the history of these countries.

"Stanislav Augustus Ponyatovsky was only a pawn in the political game of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great," the Frenchman with a cunning squint looked at Vlad. "Russian women are quite insidious, don't you think?"

"She was German,"  Fang said immediately, ignoring the fact that the question wasn't even meant for him.

From Vlad's mouth came a strangled chuckle. Russian tried to quell the desire to smile slyly, because then his image calm and reasonable guy came to be there. However, both Lucien and Fang heard this chuckle and stared at Vlad in surprise.

"So after all the Russian is in the soul,"  Vlad smiled, trying to defuse the situation. "Well, back to Poland and its last king. Fang, say that line again."

"Stanislav August Ponyatovsky," Fang slightly frowned, thinking about why he so easily goes on about this guy and why he did not notice it earlier, "the last Polish king, the ardent patriot, the convinced reformer, the patron of science and culture."

"That's the answer to our question."

"What?" the Chinese really didn't understand what he was saying.

"I see," Lucien touched his chin with the tips of his fingers,  "if the first phrase is the place, then so is the second." We need to find the treasure, but the treasure was never kept on this estate. Even Augustus Poniatowski did not live here, but nevertheless...

Fang suddenly realized with joy and surprise widened his eyes.

"He patronized science and culture, and also said that for him the greatest wealth is books!"

"Exactly,"  Vlad shrugged quietly. "Thank God, this place has a ton of books and manuscripts from different times."

Now, when it became clear where we had to go, the guy turned his back to his companions, and confidently headed down the corridor. Lucian and Fang also went after Vlad.

"The Fund of the school library is really huge and rich. There are books from all over the world."

"The library is built in the form of a circle with a glass dome. Its floors go deep underground, and the size of each floor exceeds three meters."

Nearby there was a strange rustle. Vlad, like his companions, was wary. Ahead was an intersection of corridors and, according to rustle, it is around the corner someone was hiding. The boys didn't stop or slow down. Their goal was ahead, which meant there was no time to think. Besides, there was nowhere to retreat.

Make the last step forward, Vlad was on the crossroads of corridors. Out of the corner of his eye, he immediately noticed a figure that pounced on him with open arms. Vlad leaned forward sharply, bending in half. He did not fight or retreat, he decided to trust his comrades and cost him to bend over, and the stranger to approach, as Lucien abruptly grabbed the senior by the collar, tugged, and slung over Vlad, as if through a barrier.

The stranger stumbled over Vlad, turned in the air and fell to the floor. Immediately, Fang kicked him in the stomach, causing him to faint from pain.

Vlad straightened up and calmly looked at the lying body.

"Tough."

The rules of this test are not prohibited — rather Fang grinned.

But in the official rules is prohibited, Lucien lifted his gaze up, looking in the direction of the cameras. In this school, they were at every turn. — I do not think that this time we will punish for it, but next time you're definitely will leave it.

"Thanks for the advice." Fang confidently headed forward. "Just make sure you don't fly yourself."

Sighing heavily, Yana leaned against the wall and slowly slid to the floor. She, like her two teammates, was breathing heavily after a long, fast run. Girl rolled her eyes, trying to take themselves in hands. Her heart was pounding wildly, because subconsciously she was still there, next to Stefan. I heard his laughter and felt the scent of his perfume on me.

"No one?"  Elias was on his knees, hands on the floor. It seems that his physical abilities were also exhausted after such a run.

'We lost them,"  Katarina said with relief. The girl barely found the strength not to fall to the floor and, taking a chair standing next to him, framed it under the door handle. This was clearly not the way to ensure security, but at least it was safer.

"Don't waste time," Elias abruptly rose to his feet, and, taking a deep breath, looked at the girls now need to find a use for the motherboard.

"It's ancient, where will you find anything?" Katarina cannula and rolled his eyes.

"Here,"  Yana's eyes were fixed on the desks that filled the room. It seems that only now Katherine and Elias seriously decided to look around. The guys were in the computer lab. Elias and Katarina looked at Jan, who was still sitting on the floor.

With a heavy sigh, the girl pushed off from the floor and rose to his feet.

"You think I ran anywhere?"  Yana brushed off her skirt, then, stopping to look at Elias and Katarina, she nodded toward the hall. "The point was to run away where we could be attacked by members of the student Council or where we did not need to?" The girl went forward. After going through the whole room filled with a few dozen modern computers, Yana came to the wooden door that protruded from the stone wall.

"Come in," Ian quietly opened the door to a small dark room and then stepped aside, letting others go forward.

"Look for the switch,"  Elias commanded immediately. Yana and Katarina looked at each other with displeasure, simultaneously thinking over the possibility of locking this type here.

Pursuing hands on cold walls and bookshelves, girls tried to find something, then can be a source of of light in this room.

"Found it!"   Katarina's voice was heard.

"Switch?"

"A flashlight," she shrugged, "is better than nothing."

"Come on, I think I found something that can help us."

Somewhere nearby there was a strange rustle. Katarina turned on the flashlight and pointed it in the direction of the rustling sound. At the moment when the light illuminated the desired point, Elias ran his hand through the old dusty screen Amstrad CPC General view of the Cathedral. There was silence. The girls stared at the device in silence.

"Did you participate in the Assembly Championships?"  Elias looked at Katarina and Jan. In General, there was no sense in asking such a question because everyone who came to the direction of "cybersecurity" had to know the device of various models of computers firsthand.

Plugging in the power cord, Yana automatically tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Run,"  Elias's voice came from behind him.

Pressing the start button, Yana sighed. Everyone stared at the monitor intently. At first it was completely black, but then some details began to appear. The guys watched the running screen saver and flashing, it seemed that endless codes. Instead of the usual authorization, which was installed on modern devices, the screen lit up and it appeared animated picture of the individual bands that were going into one big picture. Long passages, corridors formed the map of APSIS. It was very much like a puzzle, because the end point was marked as "END". The map shows two bright spots, and one of them meant the place where he was now Yana and her team, and the other was located one floor above the "END".

"Map?"
