Rainbow's tics and quirks

Tw:TICS AND STIMMING, PUBLIC HARASSMENT
Anyone who personally knew Rainbow Dash and got to really know her personality, they'd know that Rainbow wasn't like most people her age. Not because she had magical abilities that allowed her to sprout wings. No, nothing that out there. More in the neurodivergent area.
After a certain situation with the girls trying to help Rainbow Dash study for a test, it was pretty widely known that Rainbow was neurodivergent. Autism? ADHD? Probably. Her parents had never gotten her screened for it as a child. It was hard to get a diagnosis in adulthood, especially as a woman. At the end of the day, Rainbow wasn't worried about getting one, as long as she could still accommodate whatever about herself made it difficult to get through the day. Since her divergence didn't get in her way or seem to bother her, no one gave it a second thought. CHS, being the ever evolving community, was more than happy to accommodate for Rainbow, no one batting an eye.
Rainbow's closest friends and handful of family members were her biggest support system, especially Applejack, her girlfriend. The girls were used to her quirks and odd tics that came up in certain situations. Being the supportive people they were, the girls had done research into Rainbow's condition in order to find out ways to help her cope.
Over the years, Rainbow's condition became something no one blinked at and everyone knew all about it. It was normalized, which helped Rainbow keep from masking. She could stim and do what needed to be done without fear of bullying. However, there were noteworthy moments involving mentioned behaviors.

Applejack drummed her fingers on the marble counter top. She watched the popcorn bag spin inside the microwave, the green numbers counting down. Humming quietly, she was vaguely listening to Rainbow rummaging around the living room. Even while just looking for a movie to watch, that girl made a ruckus.
The microwave beeped loudly. Taking out the steaming bag, AJ poured the contents into a bowl. Walking out of the kitchen, she went into the living room to see Rainbow sitting on the couch. She was twitching, hunched over as if gagging. Her shoulders bunched up, her head leaning to the side to touch one shoulder. Applejack chuckled, taking a seat next to Rainbow.
"Why are you so excited? It's just a movie night?" She asked, handing Rainbow the popcorn.
Rainbow took a moment to calm down.
"No." She blurted out, before relaxed.
"I'm just happy to have a date night with you, my favorite person."
Applejack offered her arm. Rainbow let her slowly wrap it around her shoulders. She jerked away once the weight settled on her.
"Nope! No!"
Rainbow Dash cringed, her shoulders shrugging up to her ears. Applejack immediately readjusted, instead letting her arm stay by her side. Rainbow wrapped herself around the arm, linking their hands together.
"Ready, babe." She told Applejack.
Applejack smiled, just staring at her. Rainbow raised a brow.
"What?" She asked
Applejack leaned over and pecked her on the lips. Rainbow, despite herself, instantly blushed. She blinked looking at AJ with a pleasantly surprised expression. AJ hummed happily.
"Love you, baby."
Rainbow breathed out a giggle.
"Ok. I love you too. Ready for the movie or are we gonna sit here and kiss all night?"
Rainbow smirked, wiggling her brows suggestively. Applejack rolled her eyes, the smile never leaving her face.
"Movie."
Rainbow Dash pressed play, the two young women cuddling together.

The girls giggled.
"Over here." Sunset suggested, pointing to a booth.
The girls had gotten ice cream to combat the heat that took over the weekend forecast. So, to the ice cream shop they went.
Rainbow groaned, suddenly thinking of something. She looked around the table.
"Anyone else not ready for that test in Ms.Marble's class? I'm not. I heard her other classes barely passed."
Twilight smirked.
"That's because you don't study." She commented. "I'm free tomorrow to help you study, if you'd like. We can do that obstacle course like last time."
Rainbow nodded immediately. She swirled her spoon around her ice cream.
"You're a lifesaver!" She said, grateful for the resident nerd.
Rainbow Dash scooped up a glob of ice cream and took that first delicious taste. Except, the ice cream touched her teeth. Rainbow's head jerked sideways, cringing. The cold chills ran through her mouth, causing her face to scrunch up.
The girls noticed Rainbow when she began to flapping her hands in discomfort.
"What happened?" Sunset asked.
Rainbow pointed at the ice cream then her mouth, unable to talk yet. She worked on calming down so she could swallow. Her fist found the table and started banging on it. Fluttershy gently grabbed her by the wrist, lifting the arm up.
"Why do you eat ice cream if your teeth are so sensitive?" She asked, her voice soft and soothing to Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow finally got the ice cream down, now able to speak. She fanned her face as if that would help anything.
"Because I like ice cream. Teeth sensitivity can't stop me. I'm not a little bitch."
"Well, I mean..." AJ joked, grinning.
Rainbow Dash glared at her, sticking her tongue out.
"Fuck off." She hissed, no real anger in her voice.
Rainbow shivered, blinking rapidly. She giggled at the randomness of it. She went back to her ice cream, being more careful next spoonful.

After ice cream, they decided to walk around the mall, window shop, maybe buy something. Rainbow definitely wanted to cruise around Spencer's and Hot Topic. Sunset Shimmer seconded her request. So, they roamed around, going into stores to see what there was.
There were others from school there as well, working or shopping. Rarity went into every clothing store with a sale, having the time of her life. The others had to stop her from maxing out a credit card and forced her to buy a maximum of five items. Boy, wasn't that a fun time.
By the time they'd finally gotten to Hot Topic, the mall was loud and full of activity. It created a lot of noise, screaming kids, loud music, tons of voices and footsteps. Sunlight streamed in from the glass skylight, making everything look too bright. Rainbow was fine with it at first. She focused on the conversation her group was having.
"Alright, Rainbow, Sunset. We're here." Pinkie announced.
Rainbow looked up. They were in front of Hot Topic. Rainbow Dash beamed. Sunset and her went inside, while the others waited outside. Rainbow felt better, the dim lights of the store soothing to her eyes. She and Sunset roamed the store, geeking out over band tees and accessories like bracelets and chains and pop culture knickknacks.
They picked out a few stuff and went to the check-out line. Rainbow Dash couldn't stop admiring a tee she picked out of her favorite band. She'd been wanting to buy it ever since she saw it a few weeks back, but had to wait until payday to afford it. So, she was super happy about her purchase. So, happy she started to flap her hands, unable to hold it back.
"This is so cool!" She gushed to Sunset.
Sunset agreed, happy to fangirl over her own choker she chose.
"Want me to hold your stuff, so you don't drop them?"
Rainbow nodded and handed them over. They paid for their stuff and left the store. They showed the others what they'd bought.
"Isn't it so cool?" Rainbow asked AJ.
AJ didn't really care about bands and stuff like that, but she loved Rainbow. She hummed, nodding in agreement as Rainbow showed her her items. Rainbow suddenly stopped talking, her head turning, eyes wide in shock.
"Oh. My. Goodness."
The girls turned to see what she was looking at. Across from Hot Topic was a bookstore. In the display window was the new addition to Daring Do book series. Twilight looked at Rainbow Dash, getting the same idea as her. The two bookworms were in the store by the time the others could blink. Applejack smiled, amused.
"Not surprised. She'll spend the rest of today reading that book." She commented.
The rest of the girls went into the store, deciding to cruise around while the other two went on their hunt for Daring Do. Twilight and Rainbow Dash were already in line to pay, each girl with a book in hand. There were a few customers in line as well. Rainbow Dash was talking a mile a minute, clearly excited about the new book.
"I wonder if Daring Do will finally find out who the mole is. They have to meet at some point."
Twilight agreed,
"Perhaps, but revealing the identity of the mole might jeopardize the work their doing. It's probably better that Daring doesn't know who's helping her."
Rainbow hugged the book to her chest, nearly vibrating with excitement. She suddenly grabbed Twilight's shirt sleeve, tugging on it, jostling the other girl a bit.
"This is the best day ever. We have to talk about it once we finish reading. I'm so excited, Twi!"
Twilight let her stim for a moment, getting all her excitement out. Once Rainbow released the fabric, Twilight smoothed it out.
"Hey." Someone said behind the girls.
They turned around and saw two grown men standing in line, giving Rainbow weird looks. One of them, a tall, skinny dude with floppy green hair, looked like he was trying not to laugh. He looked at Twilight, pointing at Rainbow Dash.
"I think your friend is broken." He joked.
Both teens frowned.
"She's fine." Twilight assured the men. "She's just stimming."
The green-haired dude snorted.
"Is she autistic or whatever? Cuz I couldn't handle the embarrassment of being in public with someone who does that."
Were they speaking to adults right now? Did these men really say that? Twilight glared at the men.
"I don't know if I am." Rainbow replied with a shrug. "Stimming helps me feel better, so I do it. It makes feel overwhelmed when I hold back."
Rainbow Dash had to give the men the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they weren't educated on these things and just didn't understand what she was doing. The men continued to give her looks of disbelief.
"That's so weird. Can you do it again?" The other guy asked.
Ok. Things took a turn. Rainbow them a WTF look.
"No! I'm not for your entertainment."
"Oh come on. Show us!" The men pushed, taking out their phones.
Twilight and Rainbow turned around, linking arms. They were freaking out now.
"Please stop." Rainbow Dash politely requested. "This isn't funny, dudes. We don't even know you."
"Oh come on, weirdo. Just do it."
Rainbow felt herself tugging on her own jacket, a whine coming from her throat. Twilight asked permission before wrapping an arm around Rainbow to ground her. The two teens got to the register. They quickly placed their books on the counter. They were scanned quickly and bagged. The cashier, an older woman, maybe ten years their senior, glanced up and could tell something was wrong.
"Are you two ok?" She asked.
Twilight, who was paying for the books, pointed over her shoulder at the men.
"Those men are recording us, trying to get my friend to stim on camera. They're harassing her. We asked them to stop. We're minors, just so you know."
The woman glared at the men.
"Excuse me, sirs. These girls don't want you to record them. They're minors. You're harassing them and you need to leave."
"We have a right to record. We didn't touch them or say anything inappropriate." One of the men argued.
The cashier huffed. She held her wire headpiece close to her mouth and spoke quietly into it for a moment. Once finished, she smiled politely at the girls.
"Just a moment." She said.
A moment later, two mall security cops walked up to the register.
"What seems to be the problem?" One officer asked.
The girls explained the situation. The men weren't denying what they'd done. Security took them all to the holding area, to get their statements, so they could file a report to the city police. The others, when told about what happened, were livid, ready to beat them men up. Once the men were detained by police, the girls left the mall, shopping bags in arms.
They all decided to head to Rainbow's Uncle's house. They lounged in Rainbow's room, doing their own thing. Rainbow was snuggling with Applejack in Rainbow's bed, Rainbow lost in her book. Rainbow Dash paused. AJ was running her fingers through her hair. Rainbow relaxed at the feeling, humming happily. AJ snorted.
"I love you, baby." She whispered.
Rainbow looked up at her, smiling.
"I love you too, AJ. You're so pretty."
AJ chuckled. She leaned in for a kiss. Rainbow suddenly jerked away.
"No!" She blurted out, a bit loudly.
Applejack jumped back at the sudden outburst. Rainbow seemed just as surprised.
"Sorry." Rainbow said, giggling.
Applejack laughed along, shaking her head. Rainbow wasn't like other people, but that was ok. It made her Rainbow Dash, and the girls loved her.
So yeah. Lemme know what you think :)
